I recently purchased a washing machine from Currys and paid to have it installed. When installing the item the team snapped the flag valve off my house pipework and threw it behind the machine so that I would not know. I can assume this was done to avoid any cost in having a plumber fix it, as I would not notice straight away. They also bent the pipework which caused leak resulting in damage to the property. The installation team did not tell me about the damage.
I have had a complaint in with Currys, and they have finally agreed to pay for the cost of the plumber and carpet (although they tried to deduct 10% from both). The central team would not refund the cost of installation as this is not their remit. I have had to travel to my local Currys on several occasions, travel to get quotes for new carpet etc which Currys feel should be at my expense despite admitting liability.
I have since made at least 7 phone calls to Currys customer services asking to speak to a manager and have been promised a call back either on the same day or within 24 hours. They have not called back on any occasion.
The levels of dishonesty shown by Currys are disappointing to say the least. Their policy seems to be ignore the customer and they will hopefully go away.
On the phone Currys ask that we treat their staff with dignity and respect and state that they will do the same. This is another example of just how dishonest Currys is.
