I purchased a £470 laptop from Currys in 2024 as a student, expecting a reliable device for university. Unfortunately, the laptop has suffered repeated issues including freezing, unreliable flip/writing functionality, Bluetooth connection problems, and sound failures. These issues have affected my studies, including lost coursework and having to redo exams.
The biggest disappointment has been Currys’ customer support. When I contacted them, I felt dismissed and spoken down to. An adviser told me: “we don’t help customers who don’t mention or know the Consumer Rights Act 2015,” which made me feel belittled for simply asking for assistance.
I was offered only a £15 voucher despite the laptop costing £470 and causing significant disruption. I then tried to escalate the issue, but the phone support experience was unhelpful and I was directed between different channels without a resolution. I was also provided with support email addresses that do not work, preventing me from even reaching the department I was told to contact.
Currys needs to improve its after-sales support, train staff to treat customers respectfully, provide working escalation routes, and offer fair solutions when expensive products fail.
Claimed loss: £470
Desired outcome: Some sort of resolution and someone to email me or get intouch
