I was given a Crunch membership as a gift. My name was given that I would be going to the gym at the location where I lived. I began receiving collection calls and recently found out that Crunch sent my information to a collection agency and was added to my credit report. I never signed a contract nor gave my personal credit card information as this was a gift. Being it was a gift how do I now owe the company $211 because they have my name? What I'm understanding if someone purchases a gym membership for somone as a gift then that person who was gifted has to start paying for a membership they never signed up for. Sounds fraudulent to me.
Desired outcome: Crunch needs to contact the collection company to identify that a person cannot be charged for a gift and the collection agency remove the collection from my credit report.
