Subway credit card machine down

After waiting in line for 7 min. I finally get to the front to place my order and was told that the credit card machine was down and that they were only taking cash. I know it's not their fault but maybe they should have put a note on the door to inform everyone that the machine was down instead of having them wait in line and then get told that. I was on my lunch break so I had to rush somewhere else to grab a bite to eat and get back to work in time.

Or maybe the machine just went down and since it was lunch, they didn't have time to get a sign to post.

Subway I had the worst experience that i've ever had in a restauran

I had the worst experience that I've ever had in a restaurant and it was at the Subway located at 6260 Hwy 6 Missouri City, Tx 77459. I arrived at approx 1:20 and waited in line to place my order. I placed my order and all was well until I got closer to the cashier and there were two people in front of me. I lost sight of my sandwich and asked "are you sure that one's mine?" The cashier, who was a young teen was fine. The person, who took my order and appeared to be the senior employee at that location, responded loudly that she had been doing this for __years calling me sweetheart in a very loud and negative tone. There were other people in the store and I felt totally disrepected. She went on to say, again loudly that she'd better take a break before she started snapping at somebody, meaning me. I responding that if that happened I would snap back. She went into a back room for a second and when she came out she told the young cashier that people like me were troublemakers. I responded that as a customer I had a right to ask questions and she should respect that. She said "well I answered your question". My response was, "but in a negative way" To that she started shouting "Yes maam, Yes maam" again in a sarcastic and negative tone. I am 55 years old and felt totally disrespected. I was not questioning her sandwich making ability or her ability to keep them in order. It seems she has a chip on her shoulder and took my question as an affront to her. There were 4 people working in the store and she appeared to be biracial black/hispanic who spoke spanish to another customer. I did not get her name because I was so upset. I've been to this location before and never saw her there and never had this problem. This person was an extremely poor role model for the 2 young people who were working there. If she is a manager then she is a complete failure in customer service.

I manage a Subway. Just knowing that it "can not be scanned" is a little too vague for me to know what action to take. Here are a few of the details I would need to know before suggesting a fix.

1) Is Subway's machine unable to pull ANY information off of the card, as if there is a problem with the magnetic strip? If this is the case, a Subway employee should be able to manually enter the card's numbers and transfer the balance to an undamaged card.

2) Is Subway's machine saying the card has not been activated? If so, this is definitely the card manufacturer's fault. You should contact the number again, making sure to say "The gift card I purchased from Walmart says that it has not been activated."

3) Is the card saying it has less than the balance you purchased it for (for example, it has been activated, but the balance is $0)? If so, you should contact that number again and ask them to pull up the dates of past transactions. You should be able to make a better case if those transactions happened prior to the date on your purchase receipt.

Subway can they afford to turn away money?

Don't shop at subway...

So.. I am standing in the long line at my local subway... Very busy for lunch.. With probably 20 people in front of me. When I get to the window.. I order.. And then when I go to pay... I am told that they do not take $100 bills. Now.. My food was over $15.. And I know that they have the change in the register because I have seen them putting cash in the drawer for the 20 people in line in front of me.

I am a little pissed... So I complain to the head office via email.. And this is the response I get... Confrontational and condescending:

Thank you for giving me some time to respond to you. Upon reading your comments I feel I am compelled to address them one at a time.

1. Not accepting a $100 bill.

In our store it is clearly sign posted that we accept no bill larger than a $20 bill. The sign is posted in clear view at the point of order. The reasons for this are many and in the quick service food industry this is very common. It is not our intent to refuse cash, it is our intent to maintain as little cash as possible in the drawer for the safety of our employees.

2. You know we have change.

You mention that you have seen the clerks take $20 after $20 so you know we have change. Allow me to explain, we are a franchise and one of the many things that we are to follow is cash handling. As per subway, it is recommended that we carry no more than $60 in large bills. What you saw was the sales being rung into the pos system but what you did not see is the cash drops that the pos system forces the clerks to do. Namely cash is removed from the drawer and deposited in the safe. Upon checking my tapes i
See that this was indeed done.

3. Poor management decision.

I would have to say that we are following direction and advice of subway and that our clerk did indeed carry out the instructions that he/she was told.

4. Fight going national.

Do you mean with subway or other businesses?
I am sorry that you feel so inclined and I will be happy to provide any other information that you need.

5. Lazy business owners.

Quite frankly I read this as a personal comment and would be happy to deal with this comment in a meeting with you should you feel that strongly. I don't feel that this belongs in a subway related letter.

6. Company is too cheap and lazy to train.

Did you know that you can now glue and paste two bills together, for example paste a $50 bill over a $5 and that bill will not show as counterfeit? Using pens, lights etc does not work and therefore we post signs such as our and have a policy not to accept large bills.

I hope that I have managed to explain and educate you the reasons of not accepting large bills. Please let me know if you need further clarification and we hope to see you enjoying one of our famous subs soon.

Regards

Jill scognamiglio

Mrri, what are you reading, they do take $20 bills, the child that posted this was throwing a fit because they did not take her $100 bill and she is angry because she is too young to read the signs stating this and was refused service.

Another young child mistaking rudeness as getting a reply that was not wanted, the kid that posted this review called the workers lazy, and said this was bad customer service just because she missed the sign. Telling the truth is not being rude.

Next time get someone who knows how to read to take you to the store, they do have signs after all. Most places don't accept $100 bills, why there are places that don't even accept $50 bills. Don't get mad at them because you are unable to read or missed the sign.

I think they should close the doors if they can't break anything larger then a $20. It's ridiculous... $60 is not large bills! This is 2015. I could see no larger then $50 bills but a $20? Really? They claim they fear counterfeits. But that's part of being in Business...sometimes you take chances. But to inconvenience a large portion of your customers because your scared to death of losing $50 is absurd. Get with the program Subway!

I absolutely believe it is ridiculous that they would not take a $100 bill. YES fast food places DO take $100 bills, believe it or not. I can understand why the OP was irritated by this. Tell me what fast food place DOESN'T accept them?! So they potentially lost a $15 sale over the stupid fact that they wouldn't accept a big bill? That down right stupid if you ask me. MONEY IS MONEY. Would they turn someone away if they were wanting to pay in all change? I think not, so why turn a big bill away? I sure as hell wouldn't, and I'm a manager in a fast food restaurant. I would never expect a response that "Jill" had posted. To me, it ISN'T professional one bit. I can assure you that she has definitely lost a potential life customer in the OP. Just my two cents!

Wait.. you think HER comments were confrontational and condescending?

You called her franchise cheap, lazy and poorly managed. She was professional enough to read pass those rude, presumptuous, and unnecessary remarks and addressed the only legitimate 'complaint'. Not only did she take the time to clarify the company policy, she attempted to explain WHY the policy is in place instead of offering some cut and paste response that is so typical in customer service.

A reply isn't confrontational just because someone offers to answer any more questions or provide more details, nor is it condescending just because you can't understand the simple logic behind the policy.

Engaging and informative are the words I'd use to describe her response.

Subway co-worker complaint

I had just started working at Subway January 28th, 2010. It was going great until one night I was scheduled to work with my co-worker, Liberty. Everyone warned me about her. They told me she was very loud, rude to customers, and had been getting lots of complaints from customers also. Ever since the first night I worked with her, she has been very rude to me.

She yells at me in front of customers for absolutely no reason at all. I try to do my job the way I was trained, and it seems every little thing I do, she watches me and yells at me if I don't do it right.

She yells at my manager, she keeps customers waiting, and she makes my day hell at work.

I decide to go to subway for my lunch break. I get to the cashier and hand the clerk my card to purchase my sandwich. She swipes my card over and over but it would not go through. Barely speaking english the cashier tells me " your card no good". So she goes and get the so called manager. The so called manager comes and tries to manually input the number...

Subway halal meat

I was bitterly disappointed and upset to learn recently that Subway are using Halal slaughtered meat in many of their London restaurants (I'm not sure about their other UK stores). I used to be a regular customer at Subway but I will no longer set foot in any of their outlets and neither will my friends. The Halal method of slaughtering animals is absolutely disgraceful and cruel. Compassion in World Farming, the FAWC and many animal welfare organisations have condemned this awful way of killing animals but Subway obviously place profits before compassion. Utterly sad!

Subway never going back

I've been going to Subway since I was in High School. There staff was College Kids working part time and a few old timers that wanted some extra cash. The food was good and the service always came with a smile.

No longer is this the case. One could only guess, in order to save a few bucks, I am greeted with a glare from employees who look like they just got off the bus from Mexico and served sub-par quality food. The orders always need to be repeated at least twice (since I don't speak Spanish in America) and not so much as a hello or thank you. I get the feeling I'm invading there place and I should leave, of course after I hand them my money. I don't go there much any more and I have a real hard time justifying ever returning there.

Is cutting corners really worth it to the owners of these places. I'm sure they are seeing a profit at the end of the day since our population seems only to be growing and there's always going to be more new customers then dissatisfied, never to return old customers, but I wouldn't be surprised if eventually they only catered to Spanish speakers.

Forget you Subway. You can eat something "Fresh" my dog just dropped in my backyard. I'm never going back.

Where I went, the Subway in Northridge California, a worker wore gloves but took my money with the gloves on then only took off one glove and replaced only one glove when serving the next person. I figured they probably had been keeping that other glove on all day...

Subway terrible place

My wife and I decided to eat at a Subway sandwich shop . We purchased our meals and sat down to eat and my wife mentioned what a rip off the bags of chips were. I told her the chips had settled. She then poured her bag out on a napkin. Thats when mouse feces and matted mouse hair fell out of the bag. I went up to the employee behind the counter and quietly told her. She came out and and took our food and went to call the manager. I then asked her to give us back our food and she said hold on. She put me on the phone with the manager and I told him I wanted our food back in case my wife got sick and he refused. I told him if I didn't get the food back I would make sure that everybody in the store knew about it. Then I told him that I would call the police and the health dept instead. The manager told me to go ahead. I called the health dept. In the mean time the two employees started cleaning as fast as they could. I then called the health dept again and let them know. The health worker got there shortly and found mouse feces all over the store. The health dept then closed the store down for 3 days. The story made the local paper. Several days later the manager called me and thats when I told him that I thought my wife deserved some compensation. About 10 minutes later his extermination company called me up and started yelling at me about how him and his wife are really devout christians and that we weren"t getting any money from them. He also told me that they closed the store down voluntarily. I told him that he was not being honest with me because i was there when they were told to close down or they would close them down. he then told me mouse feces was relatively clean and that my wife should get over it and that 50 years ago people ate mouse feces in their food and it was accepted. I asked him how many mice they caught and he admitted they caught over 30 the first night. I finally hung up on him. I then called up the Subway manager and asked him why he gave out our personal information and he denied it. I told him what the exterminator had said about the situation and that if they caught 30 mice in the store that he must have known about the problem or seen mice and he again denied it and said that he was only aware of 15 mice. the company has still not even called and apologized.

Well, here's my problem with your "story."

The chips are pre-packaged at a factory and then shipped to each store. So how could the mouse feces from inside the pre-packaged chip bag have possibly come from inside the store?

This sounds like a TROLL post to me.

Subway rip-off!!

I ordered a 6 inch turkey sub, the girl pulled the bread out and cut a large portion of it off. I paid 5 dollars, with bacon, for a 5 inch snack! What a rip off I could've gotten a footlong! The workers at subway never know what the hell they are doing. The bread was hard and crusty as well. This is not quality service! what gives! Subway always rips off people, they give you one napkin and very little vegetables. I'm going to Quiznos from now on, they never did me wrong.

Wow. Some people whine so much. Don't blame the workers, blame Subway head office, as they are the ones that punished stores for putting to muc salad on sandwiches. My local store used to pile the salad on - to much some would say. However all of a sudden it changed to hardly any salad going one. We asked and found they had been reported by the evaluators for putting on to much salad. Also, workers are under much pressure to get through a line of customers as quickly as possible. This leads to confusion - especially when dumb customers don't know how to pay attension or have a serious hearing problem. So when they are forced to work so quickly, yes bread can be cut uneven or sandwiches can get mixed up. Its wrong to say ALL staff don't know what their doing. usually it only takes one staff member to ruin an entire line and muck everything up.

Subway mixing non veg with veg

hello friends
today on forcing upon by my friend i had a chance to visit subway rest.patiala. being a guru sikh and totally a vegetarian i never go to restaurants who serve both veg n non veg food stuff.but upon his insisting we a group of 8 friends went to subway at patiala as he said that they have separate sections for veg n non veg foods and they maintain very strict protocols not to mix the things up at any level i.e.from preparations of sandwiches to baking of breads in d ovens and even to the people who make d sandwiches everything is separate. But to my surprize when we were ordering, the sauces they were using were being CONTAMINATED, as the same bottles were used in both veg n non veg sections and the other level of separation was also not at all satisfactory.so i suggest all d GURU SIKHS or ARYA SAMAJIS or D BRAHMINS and last but not d least 100% PURE VEG EATERS not to have any thing from PATIALA SUBWAY new leela bhawan seeing which even we had to cancel d order for 8 of us.
yours sincerely

Agree...all veg- non-veg restaurants must be avoided by vegetarians as all the mix type rest do not have separation for food all the time satisfactory...and I must say the all food coming out of the kitchen where innocent animals are killed are non-veg...this type of rest kills our indian culture too..

Subway rude staff

Along with my sister & my cousin we decided to have a tuna sub. We asked the two staff to change their gloves as we are vegetarian. They both pulled faces and mumbled amongst themselves. They were both very rude & gave us a very poor service, other customers were in the shop also. My sister asked the staff that she would like some jelopenoes in her sub, the lady staff got a handful and just chuked it in in anger along with the other salad etc. I asked if i could have a little touch of mayonase and she squeezed a load in on purpose. We were all disgraced. It was a cold windy rainy day and when we stepped in the shop it was nice and warm, the both staff knew we were cold so they both decided to put the air conditioning on high. We were freezing whilst eating our sub. We would never go to the subway on Blackburn road ever again. When we finished eating and leaving we overheard the staff calling us 'pakis'! This incident occured on Sunday 1st November around 4.30ish.

My email address is amena.[protected]@hotmail.co.uk if you need more information

I recently made a trip to the new subway store opened in maidenhead, i was horribly disappointed with the service and it will drastically affect the choice of me going there or somewhere else again. For starters I ordered a wrap, the lady took a long time even putting her gloves on without even asking what I wanted. She started bunging in the chicken and asking if it was going to be micro waved or not, which I had already stated I didn’t want it to be!

After this I asked for some lettuce and as I was on a diet a SMALL amount of light mayo. The lady then started squeezing the pot really hard in order to get a huge lump of mayonnaise on my wrap. I was very annoyed at this point when she started to wrap it all together really was the cherry on top of the icing.
She took each corner of the wrap and put it in the middle. It all broke up and oozed out of the side. I asked her if she was honestly going to give me it, she looked and me blankly and I asked her if she had gone through proper training. She continued to put it into its wrapper and I had to pay £3.10 for something that could be made better than my 3 year old daughter.

The subway I work at got rid of wraps a long time ago and replaced it with flat-bread. But that is how they are supposed to wrap them. She just did it too tight or not good enough. Sometimes the customers give too much information at once and if she was new she probably couldn't remember all of what you said. Why don't you let her as the question the way she's supposed to instead of you saying so before she's at that point.

Subway hygiene

the Launceston subway store in the city has very poor hygiene! I feel so sorry for the workers in that store. It is so hot in there i can't stand to eat inside, i can't begin to imagine how the workers feel standing in the same place for 2 hours serving constantly, sweating over the food. When i suggested they should go wash their faces in the bathroom to cool down the younge boy replied that they dont have a toilet or bathroom facility in the store that they can use and have be told by their manager that leaving between 12 and 2pm would slow the customer service line down and she would not allow them to do that. The heat also attracs flys. I must of counted atleast 16 flys buzzing around the sandwich unit.

It's hot because of the ovens. The oven at my store is at 350 degrees, and you wouldn't even believe me if i told you how hot the toaster oven really is. You get burned by it it takes forever to heal. Mine took almost a year to go away once. Even with the air conditioning on its extremely hot. It's pretty much unavoidable. Go to a sit down restaurant or a place that has the ovens in the back room if it bothers you so much.

Subway food delayed

Ordered food at 1pm, expected delivery time given within 40 mins. Food never arrived till 1.40pm, when called at 2pm - "oh the food din't reach. will check and get back" was the reply from SUBWAY. Nobody calls again till 2.30 :( Furious at the person taking order I call again to check my order and I get the exact same reply. I request them to resend my order as its been 1.30 mins since i placed ordered :( Net net things went on for 2.20 mins and food finally got delivered at 3.20 pm. But the worst was the manager din't even bother to come on the phone when i asked time and again. Even later he din't call to apologize for the entire delay. The MANAGER named Mr. Salim never bothered to revert, freebies was way off. WHAT KIND OF A MANAGER IS THIS WHO DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO MANAGE DELIVERIES ? DO SUCH PEOPLE DESERVE TO BE IN RETAIL ?

The same thing has happened to me. They have skipped the order by changing the minimum amount of delivery. Even my house is very close to the mall. The tone in which they talk is very disturbing. Please change the crew.

The MGF-Metropolitan mall subway delivery is very disorganised. They keep changing the minimum delivery amount. They have delivered to my house a number of times earlier but, sometimes they say they wont deliver below Rs.200 and sometimes they say they wont deliver below Rs.300-all for the same address which is my house that is hardly 10min away from the mall.
They rudely hung up the phone today when I placed an order worth Rs.220 today-saying that the minimum order is Rs.300. I cannot tolerate such behaviour simply over lunch. I have decided not to order from them anymore and even tell my friends about this till they start behaving. This is the most unruly and cheap behaviour I have ever seen from any good food outlet-very disappointing.
I suggest the staff should be changed immediately and action taken against just illiterate behaviour.

Subway one rude girl and one who did nothing at all

Last night at about 6:00 me and my boyfriend went into subway to get something to eat. He stoped to talk to a friend and I went up to order. There was one guy working really hard trying to get the order for the people in the drive thru, whlie two girls were in the back talking and gosiping. I stood in line for about 5 minites and they kept talking and I know they saw me. Well when they finaly came out they stocked up the food and kept talking to each other. When the tallar gil finale took my order she roold her eyes and said "What do you want." I told her what I wanted and then waited for her to toast the sub. The guy was still working really hard, but the short fat girl just stood there and stared into space. When my sub was toasted she put it onto the counter and let it se there while she rearanged the sub buns. Finaly she put the topping on I asked for half bannan peppers she put three peppers on half I asked o a few more on the sub nicely and she went and put the peppers on all of it! (Me and my boyfriend were spliting the sub and I can eat peppers) I didn't say anything payed for the sub and left. This is the third time this girl has been rude to me. I don't even know her. When we left the store the ladie that was ordering behind me came out with her sub and said if the girl had treated her like that she would have been madder than a bee.
From now on if I go into that subway and see her I am walking right back out!

Subway Very pitiful

Management often insults and mocks customers. The food here is not all that good anyway. There are better places to go. There are better deals in Townsend for a subway sandwich. I can get a buy one get one free meal. Jerks run some businesses throughout Sevierville and Pigeon Forge. Subway sandwiches hope goes out of business and better businesses soon appear. In Germany a few Subways had model Twin Tower buildings making fun of 911 with a big sub sandwich knocking into the Twin Towers. Very pitiful. Restuarant management was caught stealing and now have spy cameras on the workers.

all of the sandwiches do NOT get 8 pieces of meat. or 6 cheeses. A footlong turkey, for example, gets 6 pieces of meat. and 6 inch sandwiches get 2 slices of cheese. Foot longs get 4 slices of cheese.

That store isn't that messy and I see no picture of her talking on her phone. The only pictures of her at are at a cash register and making a sandwich. Seems to me like she's doing her job. And the one with the stuff on the floor probably happened after she got busy and she didnt have time to clean it up (seeing as how she's at the cash register with a customer). IF you're going to make such claims and put up pics try getting some when she's doing WRONG things.

Subway health issues

Every wednesday I take my kids to eat @ subway, ive never had a complaint about them. But today after picking my kids up from school we went to subway in apopka @ 2:30 pm. The lady that was preparing our 3 sandwiches coughed in her glove & without taking the gloves of &/or washing her hands she continued to work on the philly cheesesteak. That was disgusting, I just told them, I was going somewhere else to eat. I work @ a fast food place, & I have seen the emails from the health department in which it says if a fast food employee is sick they shouldn't be working. H1n1 virus is going around, I take care of my kids & myself. I think the crew in this location need to be retrained on handwashing & changing gloves. Im a general manager @ a fast food so I know the proper steps that need to be taken, & these procedures were not followed in this restaurant. I am sorry to say you have lost me as a customer, family of 4 & I usually stop by for lunch with my boss when we want to get away from our food. Guaranteed, I will never stop there again & I will let everyone know what occured there today, not to hurt anyone but for health issues.

If you truely managed a fast food restaurant, you wouldn't be eating in fast food restaurants.
