Instacart pricing

I am totally outraged by the lack of transparency in Instacart's pricing for vendors that do not offer in store prices. I personally did an audit of the prices for Costco in my area against what Instacart offered and was shocked. Without exception, EVERY SINGLE ITEM is marked up from $2.00 to $5.00. EVERYTHING! Milk, eggs, yogurt, coffee, laundry detergent, diapers, etc etc etc. On a $300 bill I was being overcharged by easily an addition $50. I will never use Instacart for delivery from stores that do not offer in store prices and encourage everyone to do the same. To add insult to injury, on TOP of the annual subscription fee I already pay, AND the outrageous product markups, they try to charge the service fee AND want me to pay a driver tip. Unbelievable. Pay close attention and DO NOT ORDER from any stores that do not explicitly state that they are offering IN STORE PRICES. If it says "View Pricing Policy" under the store name you can count on being COMPLETELY RIPPED OFF!

Instacart unethical and discriminatory

They've been going downhill for a while now, but we didn't have much of a choice. Due to disability, it can be hard to get to the store and do our own shopping so we rely on them.

The last few orders have been tough, but we still got them. About a month ago, though, they sent a driver who literally refused to do her job. She sat in her car and asked us to take the items - individually since she didn't have bags - and carry them upstairs ourselves. This was quite difficult as, again, we rely on them for assistance.

We complained, and they offered us $30 back. It was something, although not great. So we emailed and asked them to contact us from their management team. Two weeks went by with nothing.

We reported them to the BBB. Their solution? Cancel and close our account. WE HAVE YET TO ACTUALLY GET A CALL OR RESPONSE.

IT'S BEEN A MONTH.

IF YOU ARE DISABLED, INSTACART WANTS YOU TO CANCEL YOUR ACCOUNT RATHER THAN COMPLAIN. THEY WILL NOT HELP YOU AND THEY REFUSE TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY.

Instacart delivery

I ordered some ensure for a sick friend that just got out of surgery. I paid over $100.00 for them to shop and deliver within an hour.
I included my friend's phone number and clear instructions for the delivery person. Over 4 hours later and nothing. I checked on line and it states delivered. I tried to chat with the delivery person and the system states they are shopping for the items but It was after midnight by then.
I tried to make a complaint and the site doesn't work.
When they do get back to me there's a run around about they will rush my order. My friend is weak from not eating from before the surgery and now about to pass out. Next they emailed, the order is on it's way and will arrive in minutes. Total *** I am thinking of taking them to court for this.
Never again! I will be sure to spread the word DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE!
Reason of review: Problem with delivery.
Monetary Loss: $105.

It is now 1:50am and they still have not made the delivery, even the delivery person txted she never got the rush order. This is really bad!

I am also disabled and am trying to use Instacart for the first time. Despite my abilities to research and figure numbers out, the site is deceitful and extremely disorganized. The web site is so convoluted that they do not list the for separate fees that they have. One person called it shady. It is. I used the delivery service from Walmart, and it was seamless. a set $7.75 delivery fee and the driver get a tip. My Walmart driver hauled heavy groceries up to my 3rd floor apt. 2x. He was very exhausted from it and I gave him a $20 bill. He indicated that that amount was very good, and thanked me. Very simple, very courteous. The Walmart web site does have a glitch or two, but the service was excellent. So far today, I have been on the phone with Instacart JUST to drqag ot of them the fees. I had to force them to tell me. THEN, he implies that if I had just become an Instacart Express customer, I could have avoided all this. As if I'm going to invest in a service that can't even provide the minimum in customer service. I am furious!

We use them because of a disability that makes the store difficult for us. When we complained about poor service (the driver refused to get out of her car or even do what we were paying for), they cancelled our account. I think it's time to let the media know that this company discriminates against people in need of the service. They only want your money, and they will make sure you are treated like garbage if you have no other options.

Instacart grocery shopping service

Their shoppers are zooming around stores without any care of running into anyone. I've had them come around corners and almost run me down yet offer no apology.

I personally don't think they make much of an effort to find an item you requested, but rather will just say its not in stock. And unless you have specified a replacement item, they'll just choose what seems like whatever they want which is at times more expensive

I live less than a mile from my local HEB and while most of my orders do come out of that store, I have had other orders that they fulfill at HEBs that are atleast 5 miles away. When I've questioned it, they've told they don't guarantee what store it'll be shopped at, so technically they could do it at a store 10-15 mi away and nothing you can do about it. Both of the orders they did this included ice creme and either it shows up soft, or possibly even almost completely melted. There are enough HEBs around where I live that they should have no problem shopping at the nearest location to where you live - I mean pizza joints are able to do it but apparently Instacart just does not care.

I've had them deliver orders to me that while include most of my items, also include someone elses while missing other items I ordered. When calling them to tell them this, they've told me to either just keep the items or throw them away. I've offered to swap items when they bring me the replacement item I didn't get, but they won't go for that. Last time this happened to me, the items that weren't mine were not anything I'd have eaten, atleast I found a friend that took it from me.

I understand that items are going to cost a little extra so that they can attempt to make a profit and pay their employees, but the fact that they charge you a separate 'service fee' is a joke. That to me says they are double dipping along with the high delivery fees. I've always understood that they pay their people like crap, so the extra item costs, the service fees and delivery fees, its all pure profit for them. Sadly the only other competitor nearby charges even more for an item and probably even a delivery fee. Amazon Prime Now is just not an option as you can't get the name brand labels you are able to get thru Instacart from HEB.

I like the general idea of a grocery shopping service but honestly I could see Instacart tanking in the next 5 years, especially if they keep doing business the way they are doing and paying their people like crap. Granted I know I'm probably wrong and they'll just keep doing the same thing and their executives will just keep swimming in the cash they are making. If I had a car, I certainly wouldn't be using them. I actually enjoy doing my own grocery shopping but when you can't easily just walk up and back home with milk, juice and other heavier items in a backpack, its pretty much left to using Instacart when you can't get a friend to help out (I don't do Uber or Lyft)

Hi,
I was an in-store shopper for about a month and I can tell you we are only zooming around because we are timed and if we don't meet a certain quota we can be fired. Also, some shoppers won't think about replacements because of the time limit, but when I used to shop I would contact the customer if I couldn't find a replacement, which made my time go up and put my account in review more than once. And honestly, I also see instacart tanking in a few years because the way they treat their employees is horrible and they overcharge for their services. They rather run their workers around like slaves, than actually give us time to fill orders in a caring manner.

Instacart unreasonable new charges

Been ordering for over a year, today I ordered and they tacked on an 18.00 "Service Charge" said it is for their employee background checks, etc. There is now no way to waive that charge, and if you don't pay, you don't get your groceries, even though I pay a yearly charge just for their delivery! Especially not right to do that to Seniors. Wrote to customer service and was told I had to pay the charge. This is not right, and they are just taking advantage of those of us who have to get groceries delivered.

Problem:
I had a basic membership for a few months. I was offered to upgrade it to a premium membership category upon paying $50, which I did. As soon as I did and tried to place an order there were new fees which would apply to every subsequent purchase, which had not been disclosed at all during the upgrade process. I spent all day calling and trading messages with the business until I received an email saying I could cancel the upgrade and continue to enjoy the rights I had signed up for (waivable 10% fees with each purchase in addition to unwaivable tips). When I called back for the third time because I was unable to waive those feels, I was told they couldn't be waived because it was a new policy. Please help.

Instacart - charging for services, double dipping into my bank acct and leaving charges pending

I ordered delivery from ralphs on3-23-2018 and was charged a hold deposit of 170.00. On same day the shopper from instacart (I just found out, I never signed up for) charged my credit card twice again for 132.57. On 3-24-2018. One charge went through and another (bouble billed) was left in pending for 132.57 - plus the deposit of 170.00 is still pending...

Instacart instacart delivery from whole foods

My third order with Instacart was placed today, March 1st and it did not arrive. After calling the company to find out what the problem was, I discovered that Instacart now had a number for me which I did not provide. I did not even recognize the number that was on file for me. While I was so happy with previous orders, this one just had me fuming. A recent accident has me temporarily homebound and now at 9:00pm, I have no food and no way to get any. To make matters worse, when speaking with a phone rep about this issue, she put blame on me for providing the wrong number which could not possibly have happened, because I do not even recognize the number on file. She did deactivate my account, but if I was charged for the month of February, I wish to have it refunded. The best result of this situation is to have my order delivered totally free of any charge, but based on this experience, I seriously doubt that will happen. So please refund my $14.99 for the month of February. Instacart is a great concept which I enjoyed for a couple of deliveries, however this latest order was one of the worst customer service episodes I've ever experienced. Hope you work out the problems.

Instacart shoppers

Hello,
I shop at the HEB at 603 Louis Henna Blvd in Round Rock, TX. Everytime I go into the store there are always Instacart shoppers pushing carts to the side to run down aisles and nearly running people over.
I understand they are trying to get shopping done in a timely matter, but this has become off putting about the Instacart company. I feel something needs to be said to the shoppers about being courteous to other shoppers as I'm tired of going in worried if myself or my kids will be run over my a cart or an Instacart shopper.

Glad to know I'm not the only one that seems to think that at this HEB. Everytime I've gone in there, I've had Instacart shoppers come barreling around the corner and almost take me out with out any kind of apology. They are too busy staring at their phone to pay attention to what is in front of them as 95% of the time, you can never make eye contact with them

Instacart about interview for oct. 12, 2017

Hello, my name is Mariana Gonzalez. I had applied for In-Store Shopper and I recently was scheduled to have an interview at the Redwood City Whole Foods Market on Jefferson Ave. at 2pm yesterday afternoon Tuesday Oct. 12, 2017. I showed up for the interview at 1:45pm there were about 12 other people waiting to be interviewed as well by your shift lead Rodrigo. Rodrigo never showed up to interview us. We all waited about an hour before we had two of your employees try to contact him. The first person whose name I didn't get, called or texted Rodrigo saying there was a group waiting to be interviewed to which he had told her he had supposedly been at Whole Foods in the morning and decided to leave because no one showed up but the interview was scheduled at 2pm in the afternoon not morning. I then asked a male employee whose name I also didn't get down but we asked if he could call Rodrigo, he called him twice. The second time the man told me that Rodrigo had told him he was not going to come back to interview us because he supposedly showed up at 2pm and nobody was there which is a complete lie. By 1:45pm I was at Whole Foods Market waiting with 3 other women at a table right next to the green Instacart fridge and register. Rodrigo was no where to be seen or found. When I first arrived a girl told me to have a seat at the table right next to the Instacart fridge where another girl was already seated waiting before I had arrived. The man told me that Rodrigo had told him he wasn't going to come interview us and was already on a train back to San Francisco but he never showed up to interview any of the 12 people in the first place.

Hey,
I'm sorry you had such a horrible interview. When I worked for them, My interview was incredibly rushed and they didn't explain much to me about how demanding the position actually was. You are timed when you shop, you only get a lunch break when you work more than 4 hours, and the attendance system is horrible (6 points for leaving early, even if you're sick). I feel like you dodged a bullet.

Instacart company's disregard for contractors & false customer complaints

I'm not sure how Instacart is working in other states, but in Georgia, they continue to expand with no regard to their current contractors. They continue to hire shoppers at a high rate in the Atlanta area, leaving the shoppers to "fight" for hours and orders. They even expanded to new areas. But instead of only hiring shoppers for the new areas, they hired them and gave them access to the already over-crowded, current Atlanta markets. This has resulted in a drop in orders and income for shoppers. They don't seem to care for the shoppers that have been with them for a long time, as long as the orders get completed and they get their money.

Second, it seems that a lot of customers have figured out how to get free groceries at the shoppers expense by falsely claiming items as missing or damaged. There's no process in place to flag these customers that are taking money out of the company's and shoppers' pockets!

Instacart service fee

My current order, delivered today in Decatur, GA shows a "Service fee" of $18.15! The option to avoid this charge is not easily located and as such appears dishonest. I do not wish to pay this exibordant fee! I choose to pay the $8.99 delivery fee- clearly displayed, not both totaling $27.14!
I use Instacart because of transportation and personal mobility issues. I love the freedom to get food without obligating myself to family, neighbors or schedules of friends. Don't price me out of the ability to get food by unreasonable costs.

Instacart done with delivery services

When I was placing my order and carefully watched if all of the items were in stock. I ordered 6 products, paid for them, but never received.
Someone else did. Not me. I wasn't even notified. I wonder what the delivery process looks like. The driver rings the door, someone opens it, takes the orders and doesn't mention that he/she never ordered anything like this? How does it work? I'm out of fifty dollars.
They gave me a hard time when I asked them to refund. They did it several times partially. Surely, it's not due to their policies. Due to their dumb heads. I'm done. Goodbye.

Instacart food delivery service

Today 8-18-17 I ordered much needed groceries from INSTACART. I am disabled, can't drive, am a shut in... l have a lot of health issues that keep me inside. I ran very low on groceries and didn't have anything to eat for lunch so I ordered from Instacart. well the website says that my card was declined, so I try to process it again. I get the same message, declined. I call the number for customer ser vice, talk to a gentleman, he tells me to call my bank. I call the bank and released the hold. I call Instacart back and talk to a women. the card was declined again. I talked with a manager and explained my dire situation to her, she says, sorry but the system will take 24 hours to clear my card. she was cold and uncaring, then had the gall to say, "HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY!..
I HOPE THIS GETS TO THE RIGHT PEOPLE.

Instacart not receiving my pay for being kick off shift/n sick pay for over 3 month

May 5th 2017, was kick off 3 times.Missing 4 hours of pay.I call on hold for hour, or hang up on me.I have sreen shots of me email store manager (Jean), uninstalled app, then reinstall it. Still took 4 hour to get back on shift, and didnt remove reliability.

Didnt get my sick pay for 13 hour.Not understanding why they wont pay me my sick pay.

AT THE END OF THE DAY YOURS SPEED METRIC TELL U HOW MANY ORDER U DID FOR THAT DAY.

I NOTICED THAT MY TEXT MESSAGES FROM INSTACART SAY I DID 23 ORDERS, BUT THE SPEED METRIC SHOW I DID 21. WHAT HAPPEN TO THE REST OF THE ORDERS. THOSE OTHER TWO ORDERS R NOT COUNTING FOR, AND THAT IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THAT HAPPEN.I NOTICE IT BEFORE BUT DIDNT SAY ANYTHING.

Instacart Groceries arrived smelling like smoke

You need to have stricter policies for employees delivering groceries. This is the second time my groceries from Jewel came from someone who smoked and my groceries all smelled completely like cigarette smoke.

This is unacceptable for people working with food. I have complained once before about this as well, and had a delivery at 10:45AM this morning and the person Heidi H. delivered it and smelled completely of smoke.

I will not be using your services if you continue to allow drivers/delivery people to smoke around our groceries.

I ordered a blanket for my newborn. I had a csection and cant drive yet. The blanket smelled like smoke and I had to toss it in the trash. This is completely unacceptable. Shoppers need to be professional and not smoke on the job. Smoking while haveng a newborns items in the car is insanely rude and puts the life of my child at risk. There needs to be a no smoking policy.

Instacart incorrect amounts charged to credit cards

Please do NOT order any with Instacart. They are really a Fraud People who show an Amount during Checkout (accepting some PROMO codes) and tempting the Customers to make transactions without validating the Promo codes and later on Charges to your Credit Card account with whole amount without PROMO codes and also other added Delivery and Service charges.

When asked about this to Instacard Customer Service, the Irresponsible person says, you can very well Dispute the Charges with Credit Card company to get your money back but this is their process and they wont do anything to adjust their process.

Such an Irresponsible and Fraud people who shows Different amount during checkout and Posting another amount to Credit cards without letting us know these thing in advance. For those people who are NOT regulalry verifying the Credit Card transactions, wont recognize this Fraud activities.

Instacart unprofessional and unreliable company

I have ordered many things from www.instacart.com and had an issue with these guys. I have placed a big order because I was expecting guests and needed all the products.
My order was delivered on time but they messed everything up and I received the wrong order. I refused to pay and had to run to a local store and buy everything there! Instacart disappointed me very much! In my opinion that was a huge mistake and it clearly shows how unprofessional and unreliable Instacart is!

Instacart high prices

When I just found Instacart I was very excited and ordered many products. Then I noticed that I was charged more than I expected. Checked my bank statement and it showed that there were some extra taxes applied to all the products and there was also a shipping fee. Checked the site and could not fund any information about the shipping fee! I never wanted to pay extra money! Products were received in reasonable time and I was happy about everything. But with all these extra fees Instacart is too expensive.

Instacart they are very bad at dealing with replacements

I decided try this site and paid for a for a 1 year membership. Liked the site very much and prices were also great, so it seemed like a great deal. When I received the package and opened it I found out that some items were wrong. So I contacted Instacart hoping to get a replacement and they refused! They are very bad at dealing with replacements and they do not respect their customers! I do not recommend this company!

I understand, I was an In-store shopper for about a month. And I did as good as I possibly could, what bothered me was the weird attendance system and how we are expected to shop so quickly. Sometimes I had items that did not have replacements so I would have to wait for the customer to tell me what else they would want. which would take longer than expected at times. And just as I got the hang of it and went above and beyond for my customers, I was cut because I was sick and missed too many workdays. Even though missing part of a shift because of things you cannot control, is an automatic 6 points?

As a shopper, here the problem we are facing when we shop :

1- most of the customers do not pay attention of the replacement the shopper can do. It's your responsibility to check your phone and look at if the replacement is correct for you or not. If not, you can change it and ask the shopper for another item.

2- you can chat with your shopper. That interaction will increase the efficiency of his/her work, and then your satisfaction.
The shoppers shop for you. NOT like you, think about it.

2- the customer app side show what the corporate listing is. But it doesn't show the real/current and so available items in the store. And that is also a problem that the customers do not understand.
The app is NOT connected to the local inventory at any time.

3- During this pandemic, Instacart has hired over 700, 000 people to shop. And yes unfortunately some people just doesn't care, and do a bad job. And because of that and the rating system, the good ones are discarded after few low ratings (like 3 stars or even 4 stars). And then technically Instacart loose the good shoppers, because of some customers, and those shopper are replaced by new ones, who will not do a better job on the long term.

I am doing that full time, and because of some very picky customers, I struggle to keep my revenue up. And Just two 3 stars, make me loosing my revenue by 60%. So think about it.
