Home Depot wrongful termination

A new hire got me fired. He had business being place in a department he couldn't work alone. As usual Depot hired A person with special needs and put them in wrong potition. He was disabled(right arm was dead)and put in Millworks. You have to be able to move doors, windows and trim. You need 2 arms and you don't always have help and if something is going to fall on customer you have to be able to catch product or something. Can be a dangerous department. And being next to lumber you were required to help them as well. I had nothing against him but there were other departments better suited for him. The employee was standing to close to me as I was on the phone with a client and at the same time I was cleaning off the counter by pushing trash off and into a garbage can and an open box of razor blades was swept off of counter ( I didn’t see them, very small package and was under trash) and with the paper going off counter it pushed the package out away from garbage can he was landed on his leg as it fell. Didn’t stick into him, it fell to ground. He went to store manager and accused me of throwing it at him. No witnesses and I asked him(Willie Brown)what proof there was for the allegations and he told me he didn’t need any and told me to leave. No paper work was given to me or mailed to me. I was hurt and angry at what happened and didn’t pursue it. And now that I’m in need of a job, well now I see I should have, but at the same time this is on my record as a no re-hire and am finding it very hard to find any position even at Lowes. I have other HomeDepot’s that would like to hire me but due to this they can’t. The store manager and I had history from another store. Not a bad history, just acquaintances. He was same on the totem pole as I was and we worked same departments but different stores. I transferred from my store to 2 others in a 2 year period before ending up at the Conroe store were he in very short time was manager. Thought we were still on good terms but he let me know we were not. I guess his new position got to his head pretty bad and let me know very rudely that we were not friends any longer. He bought a new home and I asked him when he was going to have a house warming party and told me he was not about to have the trash in this company at his new “CRIB” to trash it up. I told him he was rude and walked away. Since that time we really didn’t get along very well but he couldn’t fire me for anything at the time cause I made them a lot of money as a Millwork specialist and did my job very well. Also there was a certain woman we had there from Columbia as a designer he tried to date and she didn’t like him but did show interest in me and he was very jealous. We didn’t date and she often tried to get away from him by talking to me. I think he used this incident to fire me and get me out of the way. I am findit hard to find a job without being able to use Home Depot as reference due to this. I spoke with Human resource manager [protected]) and she told me there was nothing in my file to substantiate the claim I was terminated for, but wouldn’t over turn it due to both the employee who filed the complaint and the store manager are no longer with company. Employee was fired for making false claim 30 days after and store manager was fired for posting lude pics of himself to venders. (disappointed, [protected]@yahoo.com)

don't ever think that someone in a position of authority is your friend as you can see they will screw you over for there own personal agendas. Tis really crappy that Hr in light of what transpired between the disabled employee and the manager they wouldn't remove the no hire. Good luck

Home Depot not honoring original sale price

I am building a new home. On Black Friday I ordered an LG 31 Cubic Refrigerator at the Home Depot store in Festus MO. The price was $2198.00 down from $3100.00. I thought the refrigerator was on order. The paper work stated that the Home Builder would pay for and pick up the refrigerator when the house was ready.

What I thought was an order was instead written up was a "Quote" that expired in 7 days. I did not realize this, and the builder obviously did not know there was an expiration date. Nowhere on the Quote was it stated that it would expire and the purchase price would revert back to the original price? There was a date, but it was not indicated that it was an expiration date.

I argued with two store managers, and I called their customer service at corporate headquarters. All of my effort was to no avail. They offered a $300 discount which still put the price at $2900.00.

Beware when you shop at Home Depot for appliances. They shafted me and they will do the same thing to you.

Home Depot absolutely unacceptable treatment

Ordered a fridge (through Sears) Big problems with delivery (have bone disease and need help)
Called Home Depot and was assured by the 800 and the Leaside that they deliver and go up 3 flights of stairs and could do everything else but I should wait until 12/1/11 fridge was going on sale (Called Leaside several times to ensure they could make special arrangements) so I canceled Sears.
12/1/11 Called Leaside - talked to 1 of the rudest people I've ever talked to who said they would do NOTHING

I ordered it anyway: through Caledonia store. Would not do anything either... Called supervisor etc.

I called Whirlpool - (Amana makers) a week or so later: was referred to the home depot delivery company. The woman I deal with (the delivery company NOT HOME DEPOT) has gone out of her way to help.
It cost quite a bit extra to have old fridge moved to basement and new fridge installed - This was paid to home depot.
All of this time, No body from home depot ever called me.
New fridge DOES NOT WORK - I reported it within 48 hours. I called home depot to report formally (after mentioning this to customer service (Caledonia)
the guy never reported it.

I wait here for over 2 days and fridge is getting worse -> . I called the store today - but the delivery delivery dept. personnel were not there

I would think twice before EVER having any business dealings with Home Depot Canada.
Any advice?
I "invested" quite a bit in the delivery but this is an example of their warranty behavior...

Hi Sheronda,
I will be writing to you and to the gentleman who contacted me on December 29th (to make sure the fridge had been delivered – I suppose because of my complaint to the BBB (Atlanta)
Update:
I just had a long argument with "Criss" Customer service (Caledonia store) who is going to send a "Maytag" technician against my wishes since it is a lemon to start with and Home Depot promises replacements if it's reported within 48 hours (which was done).
1. I am NOT going to start out with a bad unit and start out with a technician.
2. It is not a Maytag: It is an Amana made by Whirlpool (I believe Whirlpool makes Maytag too)
I had called Whirlpool to troubleshoot
3. I am strongly considering canceling the whole thing: It is past 30 days of buying but the waiting has all been due to Home Depot.
I cannot associate with a company who (aside from lying consistently) is already fighting me about "warranty".

It is a real shame how you get treated at the return desk these days at some stores, now, as it turns out Home Depot @ Henderson is not an exception! Today I took some merchandise back to Home Depot after I have finished remodelling my bathroom and I really had a hard time even with the original receipts in my hand!!! The manager told me it was very strange...

Home Depot returns

Home Depot is corporation of deceiving snakes & pieces of dog feces that only care about their bottom line and not the customer.
I should have organized a boycott of the stores when they had the nerve to tell me that they where bringing customers service back! This is a slap in the consumers face!

PLEASE BOYCOTT ALL HOME DEPOT STORES - LOWES, WAL-MART ALL HAVE LOWER PRICES!
USE THE COMPETITORS DISCOUNT TO BUY HOME DEPOT PRODUCTS CHEAPER AT LOWES/WAL-MART HOME DEPOT IS A RIP OFF, EXPENSES AND DOES NOT CARE ABOUT US - SO WHY ARE YOU STILL GIVING YOUR MONEY TO AMERICANS THAT DO NOTHING FOR YOU!

On November 1, 2011, I purchased an EMCO model 400 self store storm door from Home Depot. I also paid to have it installed. My wife and i chose this door because of the screen set-up, appearance, price, and the fact that EMCO was a subsidiary of Anderson. A few days later the installer arrived and had the door installed in no time. It looked nice and worked...

Home Depot broken lawn mower

In 2001 my new wife wanted to buy be a nice gift for my Birthday in March. She bought me a riding lawn mower from Home Depot. I had one that I was using and was attached to but it was old. I wanted to buy from Home Depot because I knew, or thought anyway that they would stand behind what they sell.

At the store a customer rep told me that a Scotts was the one to buy. ” This is made by John Deere and you know how good they are, they will take care of any problems you have with this equipment ” he said. I used the mower for that summer, maybe 6 times, on a very small piece of property. In August of that year the mower would not start and the Home Depot told me they could not help me.

They told me to go to John Deere and they would help me. I went to a Deere store very close to my hose and they laughed at me. They really did laugh, out loud, right in my face and one of the reps there said “if you want a Deere, buy a Deere, not some junk Home Depot designed and asked us to build for them “. That mower sat in my garage for 10 years, I was so upset I put it away and forgot about it until last month. I finally got it fixed last month and ran it for the first time since 2001. It runs like it did in August of 2001, like garbage.

I have a brand new riding mower that doesn’t run very well, and you can tell it’s new by looking at it, it still looks new. Home Depot screwed me but it was the last time they would ever screw me.

I can't tell you how many John Deere mowers I delivered for home depot . I can tell you that I picked most of them up and took them for service at Ritchie tractor in Maryville Tn. The guys at John Deere told you right, There is a huge difference in what they sell and Homo Depot sells. It should be criminal the way they sell junk under a trusted name. Yet somehow it is an accepted business practice. If you want a Deere buy From a Deere Dealer. we live and learn though

Home Depot cheats and scams customers

My wife and I have been loyal customers to Home Depot since the doors opened. We have always been nice and respectful to both the sales people and to the cashiers. Since we have been shopping at our local Home Depot forever, the employees know us well. We have spent thousands of dollars through the years and and had planned on a complete remodel on our home. But it won't be done through Home Depot. Nor will my wife and I ever plan to shop there again. We were there this morning buying several items for friends and family as Christmas gifts. The cashier rang us up and we began chatting about the weather. A man beside us was really causing a scene in the store and insisting that he get a discount. He was purchasing some of the same items that we had just paid full price for. He demanded to speak with a manager. The manager took a long time to come and at this point the man got angry. He had his six year old son with him and told him to shut up or he would punch him in the face. A woman overheard me and told me I am not allowed to do that. He told her to mind her own business. When the manager did come he did not give the discount and kicked us out of the store. I will never shop at Home Depot again, and told my wife if she shopped there I would divorce her and take my son with me and now allow her to have visits. I told my six year old son if he shopped there I would ground him because he is never to step foot in that store. I told him if a friend's father takes him where while he is at a friends house he is not allowed to be friends with the boy or he will be grounded. I also have a 14 year old daughter and told her the same thing.

I will never shop at home depot again, and I will divorce my wife if she does and when my six year old son grows up and shops at home depot I will ground him.

Home Depot unsuitable and defective fence boards

On February 13 of this year I purchased a pallet containing 416 ( ¾x6x6) fence boards from HOME DEPOT. The boards appeared to be of excellent quality with few knot holes or other blemishes. I was told by the salesman that the boards were redwood and had been treated with red preservative to protect the wood. My neighbor and I used the boards to install a 180 ft length of fence that needed replacing. When we were finished with the fence we were more than satisfied with the results. Within two weeks however, the boards warped to the point that many of them were out of alignment 45 degrees or more at the tops (dog eared end). And others were so separated and bowed out of shape that you could place your hand between the boards up to the first knuckle.

I took photos of the fence to the Folsom Home Depot and spoke to the Assistant Mgr and explained my problem. He told me that the boards I purchased were not redwood but something he called white wood which must have meant they were pine or fir. He said he refused to carry them in his store (Folsom, even though they did carry them in the Meadowview store, where they were purchased.)

My neighbor went to the Meadowview store, and was told by the Assistant mgr at that store that he couldn’t replace the boards because they had been nailed, leaving the impression that he might sell them to someone else if they were returned. He said the best he could do was to refund $287. I feel HOME DEPOT should be accountable for the entire amount plus the forty 2x4x8’s railings. I’m willing to absorb the labor cost of removing the fence, hauling it away and reinstalling redwood, (which I have already done because the fence was becoming an embarrassment). I have taken photos of the new fence.

I cannot help but believe that this has probably happened to other customers. We accepted the $287 refund and applied it to new material.

Home Depot so many employees, so little knowledge!

Close to my house is a Home Depot and Lowe's and they're next to each other. My husband and I try to be loyal to Home Depot so we go in search of a particular portable utility heater. It is available on HD's website so we thought perhaps it could also be in the store. After one cashier directed us to the "correct" isle, there was no heater. Next, another employee led us to a few isles over stating they used to be stacked in a display but must have been moved. Eventually we had 2 more attempting to locate the item but finally we all gave up and figured such item isn't available in-store. The icing on the cake was the last employee ( I won't post his name) who was very unfriendly and never did understand what heater we needed and attempted to make it seem the heater was a specialty item/hard to find product. So...over to Lowe's and guess what? The heater was right where a friendly employee directed us and the actual person who works in the department was extremely helpful and offered us the opportunity to plug in the heater to give it a test run. My brother jokes that Home Depot employs many weekend warriors -folks who have other jobs during the week and work there on the weekend and have no clue what's going on in the store.

Home Depot bullied by a hd manager

My name is Robert A. Casaletto, 79 Cooledge St. Revere, MA 02151. Me and my wife where shopping at the home depot in chelsea massachusetts. we noticed an employee that was following us around and watching us closely. Her and another employee kept asking if they could help us in a very weird tone. me and my wife were very uncomfortable with this and we were followed for about 30 minutes...it was a very unpleasant experience. when we checked out and loaded my truck, i notice the employee go up to the register as soon as we walked out... my wife started saying too me she felt very upset, felt judged, and targeted like we were theives or something...

i went in and asked if i could speak to her for a moment and told her she made me and my wife feel unusually uncomfortable...before i could get another word in she abruptly interrupted me and said she was there to straighten out the strore and thats what she's gonna do...i replied by saying that she could do that without making us feel uncomfortable and what do we have to do with store problems...we are customers.

i told her i was gonna file a complaint and that she's passing judgement on people and acting very unprofessionally...bottom line...i have been a loyal customer of home depot for approx. 10 yrs now...i am a general contractor, 42 yrs old, 3 children, and go to church every sunday, and live an honest life...my company name is casaletto construction...i have a website...casalettoconstruction.com. i am also in home depots computer system for purchase history. me and my wife both have credit card accounts. i am in the chelsea store everyday and know many employees there who all make we feel welcome and know i am a good home depost customer...i spend 100, 000 of thousands of dollars between me and my customers that i send to buy stock for work i do for them.

Me and my wife have never felt so insulted and offended and so umcomfortably upset in any home depot store befor until encountering this employee. She basically was watching to see if we were up to no good...i never stole even a screw from home depot...we were extremely offended. And, when i approached her, all i was looking for was an apology and the lady pretty much said oh well deal with it... i also noticed her tone with other employees who have worked with the store for many many years and work hard for the company. i am almost scared to go back to that store. i have anxiety about another comfrontation and this whole situation of me being followed and watch in the store was wrong.

Anyways, i left but asked for her name, ...she laughed at me and said sure no problem her you go and i left.. i really never have been so insulted in my life...me and my wife went home upset... i do so much business with that store... since it's very close to my home. sad part is she will probably get away with it... well i hope not.. i am a hard working christian family man...i am sending you this because the employee i am talking about needs to be seriously reprimanded and if she worked for me i would fire her. seems like the authority is going to her head...we did nothing to deserve being put in this situation... Please for the sake of righteousness do something about this cuz i need that location store because i based much of my time schedules on that store and relocating to another store would create tremendous hardship.

Her name is Robin D. [protected]@home depot.com and she is not acting the way home depot trains there managers...i know cuz i used to work for home depot and she acted way out of the guidlines of customer relations.

You are just looking for monetary gain. Get a life, get a job and pay your child support. Oh thats right you work but you don't pay taxes. You 2 are unbelievable. Just like the time your wife called you from inside a closet. And someone hacked your internet accounts. Go to REHAB and someone call DSS .

"and go to church every sunday, "

I love it when people feel the need to add that in when defending themselves. As of by saying that we are all going to say "oh you go to church, well that changes everything..."

and this is obviously a plug for your business, considering you mentioned the name and website.

if this "Robin" does actually exist, she should sue you for slander for publically posting her name, job, and email address on here, as well as a bogus complaint.

Home Depot installation

Purchased a GE Microwave from Home Depot. Installer caused about $1000 damage to house. After paying them $49 for installation they say it is my fault that I didn't tell them about the freon line being located where they drilled to install. Thought everyone should know that they may do the same to you. Think twice before buying from home depot.

Home Depot hires substandard sub contractors

After years of anticipation I finally ordered my new kitchen from Home Depot. I got Thomasville cabinets and a beautiful Staron counter top. It was all very pricey but I had waited so long. Date of installation was Sept. 16. One very old man and a teenager who smoked arrived. Immediately the installer, an employee of Greencraft who contracts with Home Depot, was upset because he 'installs' and does not 'remove' old kitchens. He treated me as if this was my fault I had a kitchen. He called Greencraft and they told him he would have to do the 'tear down' because the office had made a mistake in scheduling. This old man was visibly upset and when he hung up the phone he began pulling and tearing at my almost brand new Maytag dishwasher. I asked him why he was treating it like that and he told me he was ordered to take everything out of the kitchen. He continued pulling and tearing at the dishwasher door. I was so upset I called Home Depot management and one of their employees at home. When I went back to the kitchen he was still tearing at the door. I told him I watched it be installed and the men had screwed something toward the bottom. He then bent down and uscrewed it and pulled the dishwasher out. He also caused a leak in my water valve, shorted wires coming from the stove vent. He used screws that were too long and broke out into the next cabinet even splitting the wooden cabinet frame. Home Depot has since repaired all the damage this installer did but my dishwasher is still broken. A Home Depot employee came to inspect it and observed the latch has been broken as well as the door gasket. I am waiting for a new dishwasher. and waiting and waiting. There seems to be a battle between who will pay for it and all I know is I have $10, 000 worth of what are now 'scratch and dent' Thomasville cabinets and a broken dishwasher. Calls to Home Depot Corporate has resulted in...'Oh that's terrible. I'll call you next week and find out if this has been resolved." I have been told that the particular installer no longer works for Greencraft. That doesn't help me now. Home Depot never should have contracted with a company that hires such workers.

I ordered a new granite counter top...when it was installed I found it was to wide, cuts were terrible and the sink cut was to big. Home Depot refused to replace the counter top and after three weeks gave me a check for half...I refuse to do any further business with HOME DEPOT.

Home Depot incompetence and arrogance

I have a credit account with Home Depot, which when I logged onto their web site at the end of September 2011 showed a zero balance. I attempted to use the card on October 8, 2011 and the charge was dec lined due to a past due balance. Home Depot has apparently changed my account number and failed to bill me online or through the mail. This is not only irresponsible and incompetent; it violates the Fair Credit Reporting Act

Home Depot vinyl fencing-special order

I Placed a special order for vinyl fencing at Home Depot Store #1552. On 09-07-11 I received a message stating the vinyl fencing I ordered was in and ready for pick-up. Went to pick up order same day and no one was able to locate the order at the store. I was told they think they see it but it's buried to come back the next day and they promise to have it sitting up front. Went back the next day 09-08-11, vinyl fencing was not up front and still unable to locate. 09-09-11 received a message stating that order was found. 09-09-11 picked up order. Got home with order and unpackaged and had damaged incorrect posts, no gate, and a completely different panel. 09-10-11 called Home Depot and was asked to take pictures and if I could bring back the damaged, incorrect posts and the completely different panel. I said I could than come to find out I had to take the car to the shop and was not able to return merchandise until Monday 09-12-11. Returned the order and they re-ordered. I was told to give the order a couple weeks to be delivered to the store. A couple weeks +++ went by and I have not received a call from Home Depot, so I called Home Depot on 09-29-11. Later in the day of 09-29-11 I got a message stating that the order was tracked and would be delivered today @ 10:00 by Freight Company and the other would be delivered by UPS at the end of the day. I received a message on 09-29-11 stating the special order has come in today and is ready for pickup. After work on 09-29-11 I went to pick up the order. I was there for 30 minutes and was told that all of the order was not delivered. The only thing out of the order they had was the 2 pickets. 09-30-11 Home Depot left a message stating that the order was tracked again and it would be shipped out today 09-30-11. 09-30-11 @ 1152 Home Depot left message stating BAD NEWS after got off the phone with USF shipping company he was informed they could not find the order at all and Home Depot would not here anything from the shipping company until Monday 10-03-11 and once Home Depot got to the bottom of this that they would ship the merchandise to me. I called 09-30-11 PM and talked to another associate there at Home Depot that was given to me in case if by chance the order came in later in the day. Nothing, I asked at the time if I could get reimburse some money back for this fencing and I was told I would have to talk to the associate that has been working with me and another time while I was at the store I asked if Home Depot was going to have the fencing installed for me free of charge (one or the other) I would have been happy with either, but I got nothing out of this except a bigger percentage of grass I will have to replace. The purpose of this vinyl fence was to block the dog's from getting on the sod that I just recently laid, and at the time of the order the employee that entered the order said delivery say's four weeks, but they give more time on delivery than what it really take, because it was really a concern to me to have to wait that long. He said it would be more like two weeks. So I was ok with that. Finally 10-11-11 I received a call from Home Depot stating the special order is there at the store ready for pick-up. No delivery. After work I picked up the order. Placed a special order for vinyl fenceing at Home Depot Store #1552. On 09-07-11 I recieved a message stating the vinyl fencing I ordered was in and ready for pick-up. Went to pick up order same day and no one was able to locate the order at the store. I was told they think they see it but it's burried to come back the next day and they promise to have it sitting up front. Home Depot scam

I purchased an LG refrigerator at the Forest Park Home Depot on November 28th and with it was given a delivery date of 19 December.

On 17 December, only two days before the delivery date, I was finally called and told the refrigerator was on back order and they would have to call me in a few days to schedule a new delivery date. They said they "might" be able to move one from another delivery warehouse, and then reschedule.

I went into the Home Depot to complain about the delay, for which I received no apology or offer of compensation for my time, and was there told that it had already been rescheduled for 26 December without consulting my schedule.

I was unavailable that day, so had to reschedule AGAIN, for Dec 31.
I was then called on 30 Dec just to be informed that they wished to reschedule the delivery to 6 January. I refused, hung up, went to Home Depot and canceled the purchase.

I had planned to purchase 3 other appliances from that store, but will no longer do so due to the horrible service I received.

The only thing remotely close to an apology I received was an explanation of how backed up the were due to unexpected Black Friday sales.
Back-ups on their end are not my problem, but theirs. During this entire process I was bounced from the store, to the delivery service, to LG, and back again.

As a customer, I don't want to hear how poor planning for the holidays, or a deficient shipping program doesn't allow sales to accurately plan deliveries. I want to hear solutions.

Only one person in the entire process tried to take ownership of the issue, and offered an apology. I would like to thank Ed at Home Depot for his Customer Service.

Home Depot installation of french doors

I purchased french doors that were installed by a subcontractdd installer October 2010. These doors from day one were installed incorrectly. The doors sagged and the the were misaligned. I called Home Depot to have the installer back out to readjust the doors to were he could not fix the problem permenantly. This was in April. In July Home Depot sent someone out to take pictures for the manufacturer. After sveeral attempts to try to speak to either Al the store manager Charkes the District manager, either one does not want to call me back and no one wants to give me a regionals phone number to file a complaint. I spent over $3000 on damaged doors and NO ONE at Home Depot wants to help!
That is just bad business! I will continue to try to reach some one who is willing to help.

If anyone can provide me a phone number or name that I can contact, that would be much appreciated.

There is an assitant store manager who was transferred to this store. He was transferred there because of problems he had in another store. He immediately came into our store and started perusing everyones attendance record. He has singled out women, having tenured women who had been there 18 years and 13 years, fired. He then focused on me, a woman, and...
