Continental Finance shameless, unapologetic thievery

Did anybody see the "Frontline" program on PBS last month entitled "Poverty, Inc."? This card is what these shameless exploiters of the poor cheerfully call a "fee-gathering" credit card. "Fee-pigging" or "fee-hogging" would be a more appropriate term for the card these porcine criminal predators issue...

There is the $200 "processing fee, " the $50 "annual" fee, the $12 monthly "maintenance" fee and perhaps most infuriating of all, the $4 "internet payment" fee or $10 "pay-by-phone" fee. You pay $4 for the privilege of paying your bill instantly and doing their work for them.

What is the only way you can pay your bill without charge? By sending them a check in the mail. That's right - the slowest, least reliable method, the one that has the highest probability of being late or lost, the one they can hold for up to SEVEN days after receipt - that's the one that's free. Because that's the method most likely to "gather" their usurious, larcenous "Late Payment Fee" ($35) or "Over Limit" Fee ($35).

Don't believe their pious, laughable laughable nonsense about "helping consumers rebuild their credit." They are doing you NO FAVORS. What else do you call paying $435 a year for being able to charge $180 in goods and services? You can't even use this card to "pay at the pump" because all debit cards have to be approved for $300 BEFORE you pump. If you pay your bill online and on time every month your credit limit will ALWAYS be $296 because of their "internet payment fee."

Last but not least, there is their "every six month $100 credit increase" if you pay your bill on time every month. This so-called "consumer benefit" is automatic - you have the option to "opt out" of this and I would very much advise that you do so. Why? You guessed it - every time, your "$100" credit increase is just $75 - after their $25 "credit line increase" fee.

Yes, at other banks a credit line increase is something you can earn by doing the responsible thing and demonstrating your trustworthiness over time. With the greedy jackals at Continental Finance, it's just yet another way of sucking you dry and making you more likely to become one of their "Golden" 24.75% interest rate "Penalty Pricing" chumps - er, "customers."

Make no mistake, folks - the only thing "Gold" about this card is the amount of it these vile robber-barons make off the backs of the working poor who are unfortunate enough to have both bad credit and bad judgement.

If you are trying to repair your credit history and don't mind being raped by one outrageous fee after another in order to carry a worthless card with a laughable, useless credit limit, then this is the card for you.

Otherwise, stay the hell away.

They are thieves. Need to be shut down. Have never felt so victimized in my life. They will find a way to add tons of extra charges. It's amazing they are allowed to continue in 2016

They rip you off and rack up charges, they also have no good numbers to talk to anyone concerning your card.

I have a Cont Finance card and I have been very happy with it. Its probably cause I knew what I was getting my self into. Rebuilding my credit is expensive. I never had a problem with over limit fees or them not sending me the bill. I still have my Sub 10% rate too. The moral of the story is that they expect you to pay on time and not go over the limit. Just like any other CC company out there.

No they expect more than that! That’s why they charge over excessive fess such as the annual fee that doubles the second year and the higher then industry average interest rate! This warped view that just because you have poor credit it costs more to increase your credit is wrong! Look into Mission Lane Credit card. They are reasonable in fees, interest and they don’t double the yearly charge. They aren’t well known and won’t give you a credit line of $750 with an average income of $30,000 per year because they know your likely not going to afford it and could put yourself in debt. I am thankful for the low balance they gave me in credit line. It’s easy to manage, I can access their app and know what to pay every month, it has improved my score 65 points in the past 3-6 months and their customer service actually cares! This is how a bad credit company should service customers! They do everything Verve doesn’t! I have complained several times about not accessing my balance, card statements online, and the fact they haven’t doubled my credit line like promised when I signed up! It’s ridiculous what they say they will do and don’t follow through with!

I figured that I would find some bad things about this company when i started doing my research about them...my husband and i got one of these cards right before Christmas of last year because my husband had lost his job and we were not sure what we were going to do as far as Christmas for our children so he went online found this Continental Finance company and applied for their Mastercard and was approved, of course, for a 300.00 credit limit...we thought alright we'll be able to get the kids a little something for Christmas, well we got the card but there was only an availbable credit limit of 75.00..because they charged us ridiculous amounts of money for a one time processing fee, and activation and all that...we knew then that it was a scam..well we ended up using the card one time and used it for that 75.00, well needless to say that 75.00 charge has turned into well over 1000.00...we paid them 341.00 in February with our tax return and now we got a bill that we owe them 687.00...this company is a rip off and a scam...and even when we made that payment of 341.00 they charged us 10.00 to take the payment...what the hell is that?...stay away from this company...THEY ARE BAD NEWS!...we will also be contacting the Attorney General

They not only do these kinds of things but when you go to make a payment, they try to charge you and additional 12.00 processing fee. Nowhere in the customer agreement does it say that they charge you 12.oo to make a payment. They are ridiculous. I refuse to pay the money owed to them. They only make your credit worse!

Here's our continental finance story! We received bills for the first two months and when they saw that we made 2 payments a month, always twice the minimum payment on each payment, we stopped receiving our bill and got phone calls demanding payment by phone, and of course $35.00 late fee. since april of this year we` have not received a bill and we have gotten late charges every month. We have argued with them every month and they insist they have sent a bill. We hate their guts! Just ask Chris, the employee we took apart this month his number is [protected] ext 7040!Oh! did I forget the $35.00 a month over the limit fee they have also added on every single month. That's $70.00 each and every month in fees alone that they are charging us! Can we all get together and do something about this?

continental finance is a rip off i would make my payments and get late fees charged it got to the point that i had to cancel the card now i am trying to pay my balance off and these ungrateful POS's are still charging me a maintenance fee along with the late charge and overlimit fee the person i talked with said i could make payment of at least fifty dollars until the balance was paid in full but according to my statement and my account is still active and the charges are still adding up when i talk to a person i get the "let me put you on hold sir" then the phone hangs up what do you do with these people at this rate i'll owe them hundreds of dollars and have never charged anything on the card. So if anyone finds out a way to take care of this company or someway to deal with them please feel free to contact me by email, signed really feed up!

I so much agree with all complaints! I'm having the same experience with them...started off with charges coming off balance, leaving me with around $50, ok but, rarely used the card and I have an outrageousbalance. They also did the same thing to me as far as taking unauthorized payments from my bank and another credit card causing me overdrafts AND they also charged me 3 overdraft fees on one payment when I had the proof that the payment had been cleared through my bank. I tried to talk with someone about this but got absolutely nowhere! They have had people call me from home phone #s, as private callers, they have used different names such as "fastpay" or something like that.

They have called many times in one day, my answereing machine is usually loaded with hang-ups, my Grandson was killed on Mother's Day and we asked them to stop calling during this time but it continued anyway. This experience with them has been a nightmare! I don't know what I owe now because the balance is always changing and I don't even use the card...and at this point, I don't really care!

I understand that there is a website called "twitter" also for complaints, that's my next step.

Continental Finance customer service/card activation

I just wanted to say that I am a Continental finance customer, and luckily my only complaint prior to being upgraded to their gold card was that it took two weeks for them to post my payments. Even though the payment had already been taken out of my bank account, it seemed to take forever to become available on my credit card account.
Once I received the gold card and tried to activate it I was very disappointed. I called a total of four times (during different times of the day/week) and was on hold for more than an hour each time. I was very frustrated and even calling the regular customer service number on the back of the card got me nowhere at all!
I looked on this site, and found an alternative number for them. I just wanted to let everyone know that:

******IF YOU ARE HAVING TROUBLE REACHING A REAL LIVE HUMAN BEING*****CALL [protected].

After calling that number, I was helped by a very polite woman in less than a minutes time. She activated my card for me.

Continental Finance fraud and misrepresentation of services

I opened an account with Continental Finance hoping to improve my credit and credit score. To make a long sotry short, they ripped me off for $300.00 of "start up" fees and then call my house 6 times a day to harass me about when I am paying my bill. The entire time I had the credit card, I made a $15.00 purchase and a $9.00 purchase on the card. I get a phon call from Continental Fiance asking me when I am paying $272.00. When I ask them for what? The rude ignorant woman on the other end of the phone said, "for the $9.00 purchase last month on your credit card". I informed this rude, ignorant woman that I was NOT paying $272.00 on a $9.00 purchase. She stated, " well that's the balance, you knew when you opened this credit card that it was a high finance card and that is the balance due". When I received my income tax refund, immediately I paid off Continental Finance. I sent them a check for $272.00 with a note on the bill and a seperate letter attached stating, "CLOSE THIS ACCOUNT IMMEDIATELY"! 2 months have gone by and just this past week, every day 6 times a day someone from Continental Finance calls my home and asks me when I am paying my bill. The one day they called supposedly I owed $52.00, the next day they called, I supposedly now owed $112.00, the next day they called, I supposedly now owed $94.00. I spoke with 4 different Supervisors with Continental Finance and yesterday(4/24/08) a Supervisor by the name of Mark told me he would straighten this all out, zero out my balance and this account would show "PAID IN FULL" on my credit record. Just this morning Continental Finance called here again asking me when I am paying $172.00 due on my account. After I lost it on the woman and screamed in her ear regarding this disgusting daily BS with Continental Finance, she told me, "there was no documentation in my file from Supervisor Mark that the account is zeroed out and closed." There is no documentation on my file period of the letter I sent in and no documentation from the 4 different Supervisors I talked to regarding this matter. I am filing harassment charges among other charges against this rip-off, fraudulent comapany. I will not be harassed and ripped off any longer.

so lame, you knew the terms when you signed up.. they explain it to you 2 or so times very clearly, and wlays ask if you fully understand.. if they did not do this for you(very unlikely) then simply call them and ask for the transcript of that 1st phone call.. they always record it so white trash like you do not slander them.. it is a costly card for people with bad credit, it is pretty much your only choice for a credit card. The only reason your credit would be so poor that only continentall would give you a small credit line is becuase you owe somebody a lot of money and never paid... if companies would come out and post crap about their ### clients then there would be 100's of post calling you a scammer, etc..

Continental Finance 2 1/2 months and still won't close paid off account!

I had a $300 Continental Finance Mastercard. We paid off our account and had a credit of $33.03. We immediately called on Feb 8th to close our account, they charge a rediculously high monthly fee of $12 for having the card so we wanted to be rid of it.
We were told the account was closed and that we should expect a check in the mail in 30-60 days. This seemed like a very long time to me, but since it was only $30 we just waited.
March 19th I receive in the mail, not a check as promised, but a statement showing that a $12 account maintenance fee has been charged to my account and I now have a credit of only $21.03. I call again to find out what the problem is. I spoke to a lady named Kaylee who assured me that the maintenance fee had been credited, the account was closed, and I should received a check in the mail for $33.03.
It is now April 14th. Today I received, not a check as promised, but another statement! This statement did not show the credit of $12 that Kaylee was supposed to have done, but another $12 maintenance fee charged to my account! My current credit was only $9.03. So I called once again, spoke to Jonothan who said that the prior people only put a block on the account and did not complete the process of closing it out. He assured me that he had closed the account, he put in a request to have the two maintenance fees credited, and said I should expect a check in another 30-60 days. That means I will receive a check in June for the credit on my account that I closed in February! He could do nothing to speed up the process and simply apologized for the inconvenience.
While I understand that mistakes sometimes happen, this is just stupid! If the first person in February made a mistake why didn't the person in March fix the issue? This seems more like a scam than a series of mistakes to me.

Continental Finance credit card fraud!

Do not bite! I was desperate for money, and decided to go for the Continental Finance credit card for those with bad credit. I got 50 bucks! They promise a 300 dollar credit line, then you get 50 bucks. I now owe 438.00. Why? Because I owe the 50, plus 250, plus late fees and oh man, this is a con job! Please, do not go here, this company should not be functioning, they should be outlawed. I have written the attorney general, and advise all of you to do so when you are cheated, we all have a voice, lets get rid of these evil peoples greed, be counted, complain!~! If nothing more, let the authorities know. Do not get a card form this company!

I have had a good experience with Continental Finance: IF you have bad credit, and applied for a credit card from them you should have read all the terms it says your credit limit is $300.00 but with the processing fees and the one time membership fee you will have a $50.00 limit. I have had this card for over a year, read and understood the terms before agreeing to the card. TIP #1: READ, READ, READ... TIP #2: BAD OR NO CREDIT MEANS YOU PAY TO EITHER RE-ESTABLISH OR ESTABLISH CREDIT. This company is not a rip-off, just some people do not take the time to read and understand the charges and the agreement you are about to sign off on!

Again same thing happened to both of us. Suppose to be $300 only get $50 and really don't even get that because they find some way of ###ing you and making credit worse. Mine ended up $493. I called them today 04/03/2008 and went the hell off and told them to give me a settlement offer and I got one from them of $210 I took it. They will get 3 payments from me of $70 on the dates they said which i think one was 04/15, 04/29, and 05/13 but i can't miss those or messes up deal. We will see how it works out.

Continental Finance fraud and harassment

First of all what kind of credit card company charges you to make a payment? This company has been nothing but problems. After a bad divorce, my credit like a lot of people hit the skids. I signed up for this card with the promise of outstanding customer service and rebuilding my credit. The first couple of months went fine. However I noticed that when I made my payments, they charged me EXTRA to make them! Things got worse and I lost my father and daughter in a car wreck so needless to say some things slipped my mind. Once getting back on track with bills on my own I noticed that I had neglected this credit card. I attempted to make amends and set up a payment schedule with this company. The woman, LaQuisha that I talked to on the phone said that I was full of crap and it's people like me who make her hate her job! I asked to speak to her supervisor and was called a deadbeat ### and hung up on. Upon calling back I got another person who did not care to hear my complaint but instead took my information. I have been making automated payments since to get this paid off but still get harassing phone calls from this company. My suggestion to anyone who is considering this card is to NOT get it. They are rude, unthoughtful people who obviously all hate their jobs.

First off I am sorry to hear about the accident your family members were in. No one can deny the stress it puts you under.

However, I do not know of any credit card companies, or utility companies or any other places that do not charge to make payments over the phone. If you know of any, please clue us in. Why didn't you just mail a check?

Attempting to repair credit rating, company advertised on Experian Credit Report, so I believed company was legitimate and applied for credit card. card sent i did not activate after reading all the terms and excessive finance charges. I was sent a bill for $250.00. I want this acct closed since i did not activate card. Continental Finance Co used name of Delaware Bank which is the only reason i trusted applying believing they were sincere and trying to help people.

I electronically submitted a payment for may card account on the 16th of the month. My bank card was debited for the amount. Seven days later, Continental finance called me wanting to know when I was going to pay. I gave them the confirmation number and the amount from the transaction. They insisted they did not have the payment. I checked with my bank and they told me the amount was submitted electronically and we verified the card information. The bank said it was paid electronically on the 19th and received by Continental Finance. When I tried to explain this to the customer service rep, she put the manager on the phone. He insisted that my bank was wrong. I called the bank back and they are running a check on the transaction and will have information for me tomorrow. Continental Finance has a terrible payment processing solution. I think they do this so they can charge fees. This should be illegal.

The fee structure of the Continental finance MasterCard is stated at time of application and activation. It must be accepted by the consumer twice. Its not fine print, so I find it difficult to understand how it came as a shock.

Consequently, we have a 30 day closure policy that states if you do not want the card and have not used it, we will close it and remove any up front fees that were billed to the account. I would call that pretty fair.

First Bank of Delaware is our issueing bank which is why it is listed on our material.

Your account has been closed per your request

Continental Finance misleading information!

I started out looking on the comp. trying to find a company that would in some way help me start to regain good credit. I found continental finance and I went with them. When I got the card I called to activate it and the lady on the phone said that I had to make a payment on it, but I still had 2 weeks until the bill was due. I told her that I know when it's due and I will call then to pay it.

I tried to use the card after the first payment was made and I started running into problems. I tried to prepay at a gas pump and the first couple times worked but then when I did it about the 3rd time around it said denied. I called and asked about it and they said that it doesn't let you prepay cuz of security issues. When I called up to make my second payment on Dec. 17th I used my bank card and they kept trying to run it and on my bank statement it showed 4 charges for a dollar each... according to the person on the phone those would come off and I wouldn't get charged. The big thing I ran into was that they kept saying that the zip codes didn't match, so I called the bank and they said it was all correct on their end (since I've been with them 4yrs now). Continental made me call back the next day and it strangely went through then.

About 2 weeks again before my due date in Dec. I started getting calls from the company telling me your bills due in a couple weeks how would you like to set up payment. I mean I was getting 3 calls a day and it would start at 7am. They had my house and cell phone number and I kept telling them to stop calling me that I'm a big girl and I know when my bill is due. It was like they were trying to hold my hand and make me look like an idiot!... or that since I had gotten a card based for bad to no credit that I must have problems paying my bill on time.

I called them again finally around the end of Dec. telling them to stop the calls and they kept coming so I called back later that week and a lady said that there weren't any notes claiming that I wanted them to stop. The first guy I told said it may take a couple months and the other lady said it would take 24-78 hours. I haven't gotten a call since, so they may have gotten the hint, but who knows with these people.

In Jan., I was going out of state and I decided to put all the money on the card and pay it up so I would only have to carry around one card... WRONG! They told me that the money would be there instantly and I ended up with out money for 3 days! talk about bad! When I got my statement it said that I was late on my payment which wasn't true. Again I tried to pay early and I got the same hassle about my zip codes not matching and finally they got it to work. In the month of Dec. they didn't charge me a late fee and the month of Jan they did but they got their money on the same day each month down to it coming out of my account the same day as well!

I was so upset with them cuz in their disclosure it states that " if you are late 3 months in a row then your apr goes up and then keep it in good standings for 3 months and it goes back." I wasn't even late on any payment, but I guess they thought I was on this one and they MARKED MY CREDIT and charged the fee! I couldn't reach them at ANY NUMBER! I was SO mad that I started crying cuz I felt so helpless. So today I started digging and thank god I found this website and got a number off it. I called and talked to a "jennifer" she said that she would talk to her supervisor about the late fee of now 35.00 (which they claim went up at the first of this year from 30.00) and she was able to get it dropped off. I asked her about the reason why my due amount is 97.00 and she said that it was the late fee and maintenance fee! I said NO WAY will I pay that! Jennifer proceeded to call me a pessimist and that I wasn't taking her offers. I asked her about the 3 months in a row being late and why the first time they miss mark me as late I went into collections... her response and I quote "I... aaahh... eeerrr... well, I don't have control over that I will ask my supervisor and let you know" she refused to talk about it after I went on hold for 15 minutes. I told her I will not pay that amount cuz there fore I would STILL be paying the late fee and she said "well, look at it this way you will have 97.00 added to your account to spend then." I told her if I want to spend that much I would pay that much but I don't want to! She said she couldn't change it and I asked her why the automated system says that you can make payment arrangements or push the due date and she said they can't push the due date back unless I make a payment and it clears... hhhmmmm... I told her I just made a payment a week ago and it cleared so why can't you push it back. She had no answer for that and she was just getting upset with me.

What she offered me in the end was to post date using my check card for the 22nd, my next payday, but my bill's due the 18th. She said that we can post it out, but you would have the late fee charges placed on your acct plus the maintenance fee but our supervisor can go back in and credit it back to your acct! I said "well it would mark my credit then!" Jennifer's response was "well my supervisor should have the power to go in there and show that the mark against you was paid up" ... (with a dumb founded look on my face right now...lol) WHAT KIND OF IDIOTIC COMPANY WOULD OFFER YOU THIS KIND OF DEAL IF THEIR MAIN POINT IS TO HELP YOU RESTORE YOUR CREDIT, NOT MAKE IT WORSE!? I mean come on. I told her about this website... no site name given of course, but I told her that theres A LOT of people that are out for blood with this company and I am NOT going the route she was offering, so I told her to give me the number to someone that can take the 35 plus other fees off my NEXT BILL DUE SO i WASN'T PAYING THE 97.00 and she put me on hold and said that she conveniently found someone in her office that COULD IN FACT get that amount dropped! 5 minutes before she said there wasn't anyone at that BUILDING IN DELAWARE that had that power, but she somehow found one? So in all I got the late fee taken off my balance that they purposely added, throwing me over the limit,(but never got charged a over limit fee) and my monthly amount back down to where it was supposed to be. I have ALWAYS paid double or triple of whats due every month, and theres NO WAY I'm going to let a sloppy, immature company try to screw me over. I was raised to stand up for myself and I wont let people like that push me around!

They will not take my debit card over the phone, they want it out of my checking account. What the difference, my debit card is the same as my checking.

I received the card with a $300 limit and a bill the same day for $250 and I have even activated the card. How is this, you can't get a hold of anyone to cancel your card!

This company is absolutely nuts. I cancel my card because I thought the fees was unbeliveable. Now for canceling the card they say I owe them $695, I never spent more than $50, the card would not allow me to do more than that. It will be a cold day in hell before I pay them one red cent. I'm getting calls day and night now they have sold the account to a collection agency. Now a new set of people is calling and threating to garnish my wages. Can you believe that. I really feel sorry for these people that they have to harrass for a living, that can't be to healthy.

i applied for this card online and recieved it in a few days it showed 75dlr annual fee with one time 75dlr activation fee, which i was cool with, then i called to activate the card and it said there was an additional 12dlr a month maintenance fee so i refused to activate, plus i had already sent a check in the mail for 150dlrs, so i put a stop payment on the check and teminated the account on the phone options menu. today i get a bill for 47dlrs that i owe for the check not being able to process on an account i never activated. WTF?

I signed up for the card and got it in about 5 business days, I called to activate the card and they wouldn't activate without a payment upfront, so I told them I would call in another day. I went to my bank and opened up a separate savings account and called the activation number again and made my payment and I havent had any problems. I knew about the upfront charges because I read the cardholder agreement online before applying. So the only that did suprise me was they didn't say you had to make a payment in order to activate the card. The card is issued through the Bank of Delaware, I haven't had any problems thus far and I have already 1 credit limit increase which by the way they charge you for increasing your limit, thats also in small print on the agreement.

I received the card, then the bill a day later with $250 balance and $50 available credit. I called to activate the card. All ok so far. THEN I go to Walgreens to make a purchase under $20. Card declined. I go to Walmart. Card declined. I go to the post office. Card declined. Cannot get a hold of a human. Toll free numer (computer) says I still have $50 available credit. Payment of $50 due in 2 weeks. Nothing states this payment has to be made first before using.

Continental Finance rude customer service, bogus card

This company is a rip-off and a scam! Their cust. service is a joke and a complete waste of time because in their own words-"we dont have a customer service!" they harass you and are ignorant. I run a call center and believe me, i will spread the word that this company is a waste. So take this as your notice- cancel my card or i will file charges against you in a court of law in my state!

Continental Finance fees charges on account!

I would like to know where Continental Finance Credit Company finds the people that work for them. Ever since Septembe my husband has called to change the payment date on his credit card and every month they say that they have no record that we have even called to have the date changed. Every month, even though the account is current , they have charged a late fee and an over the limited fee on the credit card. I don't understand where they get their information on customer credit cards, DO THEY PULL IT OUT OF THE AIR, DON' T THESE PEOPLE POST NOTES ON CUSTOMER ACCOUNTS WEN THEY TALK TO THE CUSTOMERS.

Continental Finance scam and cheating!

I filled out and application for a continental finance card,on they website the card came seven days later. The first time i charged was for twenty four dollars. The next week I receive a letter from them saying my account was closed, first of all you suppose to get a three hundred credit limit, in the letter they said i owed them money for two hundred and forty seven dollars. That left me fifty three dollars to charge continental finance never said anything about upfront charges. Now i have a bill to pay for two hundred and forty seven dollars since i refused to give them my checking account info they closed the account, i never had this much trouble with a credit card company like this in my life. I found out they was scammers also i never paid them the money i told the women i wasn't paying for nothing i didn't charge on the card, i went through this company only for one reason they didn't check your credit score. I have read other customers are going through the same thing i am second i am not going to let them get away with it cause i am going to take them to court and they will get sued. Nobody try to scam me and think they going to get away with it everybody needs to know about these scammers.

I agree, I just recently opened an account with Continental Finance and made payments on time, get this...They said The EZcard payment system declined my payment due to insufficent funds and that I need fax a copy of my bank statement showing I had available funds to "Corporate" Office. I was given different fax numbers by each person I spole with. Get this my checking account was NEVER charge and return check fee, nsf NOTHING because I had more than enough money to cover payment. Reps told me that do not call people in reference to a payment not posting HA! They called me today Oh and not to mention I have like approx. 10-15 maitanence of some kind of charges on my account PLUS returned check fee that never came thru to my bank and overlimit fee and I never used the card since I made my last payment. Reps are so rude and so are the supervisors I spoke with. I was told by the 1st rep to contact EZ card! why didn't they do that I AM the customer and it was NOT my mess up!

Continental Finance unauthorized payment

Please be aware of this company...

On 8/17, i was given authorization from a friend to use his checking account to pay my credit card first initial payment to your company. The transaction was completed. Unfortunately, on 9/27 i received an email from my friend stating your company had deducted $58.95 a western union payment out of his checking account. And another transaction was done on 10/8 and 10/26 and i did not authorize this transaction and at that time i had not spoken to anyone at that company and now his account is $-400.00 overdraft. I have explained this on every call that i have contacted this company and no one can seem to help. I am disappointed because i have been interacting with your company since october and this problem is not resolved. According to the better business bureau of delaware this company has 229 complaints and i am very skeptical about dealing with this company. Every time i call i receive conflicting information about this account and one person tells me the fax has been received and to wait for corporate to respond in 3 days and the other representative says send in the fax again. I have been disputing long enough and i am tired of waiting. I have not had any luck and surprise to see hidden fees and fraudulent finance charges that were not disclosed clearly in anything i have received and i feel this company is fraudulent and do not care about there customers. I want to hear a call that was reported to authorize a payment in september or october or november. To resolve the problem, i would like the company to send a full refund to my friend account where the money was deducted from. And i want this account closed with the late and additional fees on my account credited because i have been trying to work with your company and i have been calling frequently to get this resolved. I have faxed your company bank statements that were provided to me by the account holder. The next step is to file a fraudulent charge on the company. I was given a fax number of [protected] that i have sent supporting information to and no one has called or contacted me via email about this. And today is 12/7/07 and still it hasn't been resolved. Can anyone help? Upset, frustrated, and aggravated in texas houston, texas

This is the worst credit card I have ever had, I have over 7 credit cards, and this is by far the most aggravating and upsetting one. My identity got stolen back in July, and they sold it. Because of that, I have many open cases in various states, like Nevada, and Florida. (I live in Oklahoma). I also have a freeze on my credit, so that if anyone tries to run it, or change anything on any of my accounts, they must contact me first for permission. I check my online account with Continental Finance on a regular basis, and I'm glad I do. I did not think anything peculiar with my account, but I checked and saw that my address had been changed to a Georgia Address! Of course, I was furious, and tried to call their Customer Service. It was a Sunday, and they are only open M-F, 8-5. So I filed police reports, etc., and called them bright and early M morning. Unfortunately, it's true, that everything is automated, I got disconnected from the automated operator 4 times because MY actual zip code did not match MY file. I finally got this GA address that it was changed to, and was able to speak to someone. Their Customer service team was very rude and acted like it was my fault. I found out that someone who has my identity called up there, said I had moved, changed my address and got sent a new card! All without my knowledge. I informed them I was canceling both cards I had with them because of this, and the supervisor was rude and acted like I was out of line for being so dramatic.

Bottom line-- do NOT get this card, there are many many more cards out there where you can get better customer service, and they have a better act of security (especially if you are a victim of identity theft like me!)

On Nov 02 2007 I called Continental Finance because I had notice some unauthorized charges on my account in the amount of $193.75. When I called customer service I spoke to the site manager by the name of Kevin which advised that I needed to place a stop on the card and once that was done I would receive a letter that I would have to sign within 3 to 6 months of the dispute being opened 3 weeks later I received a new card. When I received looked online 03/05/08 I notice that my balance was $259.10 over the Credit limit of $600.00. I called customer service and told them that I did not agree with the amount and the Customer service rep could not tell me why there had been a difference of $259.10 so she transferred me to a sup by the name of Marvin which he also could not explain what happened to my account. He advised me not to make my payment of $50.00 payment until I receive a call from a manager. My payment was due on the 14th and I didn't want to make a late payment so I decided to make my $50.00 payment online. Two days late I called again to customer service to see why I had not received a call I was promised and once again I was transferred to a sup. I was told that my $50.00 payment was fine and I would not receive any fees. Well I then notice a $35.00 fee along with a $35.00 over limit fee. I then received a call from collections asking for my payment. I explain to them my issue and the sup told me he did not care the only thing he cared about was me making another payment. I told him that I had notice on my statement that I was being charged again for the disputed amount of $193.75 he told me no that I had received credit for that amount. I advised him that if I had received credit for that amount then my balance of been $406.16. Which my previous balance was $599.91. Till this day this has not been corrected and I have now been charged $140.00 in fees and my balance is now $854.29 and I have been receiving collection calls even thought I have continued to make my monthly payments.

Continental Finance false advertisement/dishonesty!

Last month I had a problem with this company. They sent me a bill charging me a late fee and an added fee after the payment had been made. I have my payments sent by my bank so I was able to go in a get a copy of the check cashed by Continental Finance and email them a copy of the check. They corrected the problem but I'm sure they had already sent this to the credit company and I'm trying to improve my credit and that is what they claim they are here to do.

Then this month I have another problem. Like I said I have the payment set up with my bank and they made the payment. The payment schedule was preset for $50.00 since the policy stated that is the amount that would be charged as a maximum. When the bill came in the amount owed was $80.00. The bank had already sent out the $50.00 so I went bank into the account and added another $30.00 to be sent to them. This has been done and both payments fall within the grace period and they totaled the $80.00 I owed. My bill was due on the 15Th and they had both payments by the 19th. I get a bill on the 20th with an over the limit fee of $30.00 with did not occur and a late fee of $30.00 and now their saying I owe $110.00 by 12/15/2007. They got their $80.00 within the grace period so I do not know why they are trying to scam me. They advertise they are a company that helps you build your credit and they've done nothing but hurt my credit. Even having to pay $80.00 is a crock since I've never had more than $75.00 in my account because of all the fees they charge. I am so sorry I went forward with this company. They are frauds and they are not here to help better ones credit. I'm trying to pay the payments on time and that is why I set it up with my bank. They upped the amount due and I immediately went into my account to have the additional $30.00 sent. They had their $80.00 within the grace period. I'm trying to get more money on my account and this will never happen as long as they are, excuse me, screwing me, this will never happen. With all their fees, which they could have divided up through the months, then more money would be available to spend. I've never had more that $75.00 to spend in a months period. They're a useless company and I no longer want to be associated with them. If they want to try and work something out with me, like a credit increase and them sticking to the $50.00 monthly payment we might be able to work something out. THEY ARE NOT HERE TO HELP BUILD CREDIT AS THEY ADVERTISE. They are out for themselves and no one else. They are scam artist, and from reading other complaints I am not in this alone. There are a lot of people unhappy with this company and they can add me to the list. I will let everyone I know about this business and have also called the BBB to let them know of Continental Finances practices.

I look forward to someone responding to me ASAP to correct this situation.

I got a continental Gold mastercard. I was told that there was a ONE TIME fee of 50.00 upon receiving my card, by a live person. I agreed, and started using my card. Come to find out-it's 50.00 EVERY MONTH! I never would've accepted the card had I known that up front.

Contact your state attorney general. File a complaint with the BBB. They are probably guilty of a violation of usury laws and most people either won't, cannot afford or do not know this.

Find a legal aid lawyer who might help u or look online for a class action lawsuit that might be pending against this company.

Also, start writing to local and national media and to anyone within media that will listen and get people to look into this company. Fight back.
