Clear Rate Communications Phone service

My mother has been without a phone for 42 days. Frontier says it's clearrate problem and clearrate says it's frontier problem. My mother is 81 with this being her only communication to anyone. She has some health issues that I explained if something happens to her you wo t be talking to me any more, you'll be talking to someone else.

I have been told it's still open no one knows how long it'll be. She need to get the home phone service through internet based which is not option for her.

I told them if she gets a phone bill she is not paying for anything. All we want is a phone that works continuously.

Clear Rate Communications Long distance land line phone service

Avoid Clear Rate and choose any other service provider. Clear Rate preys upon Senior Citizens with unethical business practices and terribly unprofessional customer service. Without warning or notice they disconnected service to a couple in their 80's and left them without phone service which they relied upon for Doctors and Emergency medical communications for over 3 weeks. Clear Rate then charged an exorbitant fee for the "privilege" of being reconnected even though the actual repair service was performed by AT&T which charged $0 for the labor / work on their infrastructure. Clear Rate is playing with fire as their negligence could have led to a catastrophic outcome for an elderly couple that did not deserve such disrespectful service as they have been customers for over 15 years and have never been late on a monthly payment. The loss of service was even escalated to CR supervisors. Their response lacked empathy or professionalism. They even attempted to extort extra fees from these Senior Citizens in exchange for reconnecting service. When engaging Clear Rate have a good attorney available to record the calls and then threaten legal action in order to achieve satisfactory results. Sad but necessary...

Nearly identical situation here. My in-laws are 92 & 93 years old and they were basically scammed into switching over to their service since purported themselves to be part of CenturyLink, their original landline company. The customer service agent was horrible and basically had the attitude of, well that’s what they agreed to and “them returning their equipment due to feeling as though they were scammed, “ was the worst thing they could have done”. The only resolution they offered was to reactivate their phone number that they have had for over 6 years to their land line with no ability to port it back to CenturyLink. In other words, they are keeping their phone number hostage. All this occurred while my father-in-law was in the hospital! They are scum for preying on the elderly in particular, but on anyone really.

Clear Rate Communications Phone

Horrible company. Refused to disconnect service while Mom was terminally ill, literally fighting for her life and they would not disconnect service. After her death and our second request to discontinue service with her death certificate finally they agreed to disconnect however wanted us to pay the bill for the 2-3 months of time lapsed

from our first request. Prior to this obviously difficult situation Mom had nothing but trouble with the service and never was provided with what they promised or any kind of adjustment to the bill for all the days of no service. Do not recommend this company at all. Stay away! Horrible.

Clear Rate Communications Phone company took over my phone and won't allow we to leave

This company is a total scam. They took my elder father's phone number in July and I have been trying for 5 months to get the number ported back to his Verizon provider but they continue to put blocks on the number. My father has dementia and is unaware of switching phone companies. Since we thought the port back to Verizon had been completed, we were unaware that Clear Rate still had control of his phone and had blocked the line because of an overdue balance. I had originally paid what was owed at the time the number was to be ported back, but with the block on the line Verizon was unable to port, so Clear Rate continued to rack up monthly fees and because of the unpaid balance, they temporarily disconnected his phone. Being elderly with dementia, he needs to have access to a phone. Again I called Clear Rate in November and paid whatever balance was owed to unblock the number. After a 10 day wait, the number was still disconnected. I called Clear Rate again to find out two days after I paid the bill owed, they put another suspension on the line simply so the line could not be ported back to Verizon. I have filed compalints with the BBB and with the FCC, so I'm hoping they are able to help with his issue. I think it unfair that we have to incur costs to have a new phone number put in.

Desired outcome: I want to see my phone number UNBLOCKED so I can go back to my regular phone provider

Clear Rate Communications Terrible Company. Avoid at all cost.

We feel that we were taken advantage of with promises of lower rates.

We found out later they only repackage phone services from Frontier.

We have spent about three months trying to get back to our original company (Frontier). We were without any phone service for two weeks. As a funeral home, we need to have our phone service working 24 hours a day.

They now want to charge us $520.43 for giving us nothing but trouble and grief.

We warn any business to avoid doing business with Clear Rate Communications.

Clear Rate Communications Phone service I never agreed to.

They had a recorded massage where all you heard was some one saying yes. This recording they claim is me agreeing to switch my service to clear rate. First of all the day of the recording they claim I agreed to switch I was out of state on vacation. I was not home at the time they claim to have a recorded message of me saying yes. I have called and talked to numerous customer service people that claim I switched my service. Each time I repeat myself telling them the same as I have told them all & that I would like to talk to a manager or supervisor. They tell me a supervisor will return my call but no one ever calls back. They keep sending me bills every month. This last one threatening me if payment is not received with in 14 days from the date of this letter, your account will be turned over to a collection agency. Early termination fees which may have been accessed for switching your telephone service can be waived by switching your telephone service back to Clear Rate Communications, Inc.

Desired outcome: I would like them to apologize and stop sending me threatening bills.

The exact same thing happened to my 87 year old mother. I canceled their service by getting Century Link (previous provider) to reinstate her acct. I called Clear Rate to pay off whatever balance she had and they had tacked on a $200 early termination fee. Needless to say, I freaked out. I told them I didn't care for their tactics on getting accounts without proper authorization. I told them I would be calling up the BBB as well as our state attorney general to file complaints. They removed the termination fee and I paid what was due but I told the person on the phone I was not happy with the company she worked for. Praying on the elderly. Disgusting.

Clear Rate Communications Internet service (wholesale account)

My wife (Brittany) and I own The Floral Shop in Madison, SD. This is our second complaint about fraudulent activity performed by Clear Rate Communications, who frauded our business into utilizing their services, rather than our previous provider, under false promises and manipulative sales tactics.

At the beginning of September, we received a phone call from Clear Rate to "take over billing" for CenturyLink and "save money" for the "same service." Clear Rate pitched "wholesale pricing" and better customer support and informed us that CenturyLink was being sued for "inappropriate billing, " and Clear Rate was there to help. Since CenturyLink is the ONLY ISP option for the business, we reluctantly agreed over the phone.

Clear Rate arrived to install a "new internet service line" the following week (about the 6th or 7th). Internet service immediately stopped working in any usable form.

CenturyLink came to repair the following week, per our request. Internet worked for a short period of time, then stopped working immediately and completely when Clear Rate took over services on September 23. Our business telephone still worked, at least.

For the next week, Brittany spent 3-4 hours a day on the phone with Clear Rate trying to get the issue resolved to no avail. She was told numerous times by numerous customer service reps after waiting hours on hold that a supervisor would contact her, but no call ever was ever made. The Floral Shop, which relies on internet service for regular business operations (Point of Sale, card processing, online ordering) was completely without internet service this whole time.

On September 27th, we filed a complaint to the BBB. Brittany, not surprisingly, received a phone call first-thing on September from a "Chris" with Clear Rate. Chris informed her that while notes were on her account, no one had mentioned she was without internet service the whole time. Chris said he would discuss with his supervisor and get the issues resolved.

On September 30th, Chris informed Brittany that he would get her service transferred back to CenturyLink and get contact cancelled with no fees. When Brittany asked about the shady situation that has lead to this predicament, Chris insinuated that Clear Rate's sales team often uses unethical tactics to get customers. Also on the 30th, the business lost its voicemail capabilities through Clear Rate, leaving no way for customers to leave messages and place orders if she is not at the shop or is on hold with Clear Rate trying to resolve issues.

On October 4th, Brittany spoke again with Chris, who informed her that her service has not been terminated and blamed CenturyLink, saying the issue was on their (CenturyLink's) end, but offered no real solutions nor had taken actions to reassure service. Despite numerous demands for the cancellation of service and release back to CenturyLink, Chris repeatedly tried to "sell" Clear Rate to Brittany, offering "better discounts and service." Finally, Chris threatened her with losing her phone service if we indeed cancelled.

However, the CenturyLink technician that has supported our business for the past few years strongly disputes Chris' above claim, stating that it is, in fact, Clear Rate that is refusing to release The Floral Shop's service back over to them.

Over this past weekend, we also received the first bill from Clear Rate that was more expensive than her previous bill with CenturyLink for service that has not worked.

As of today, that's 11 business days with degraded or no internet service. Brittany has spent nearly 35 hours on the phone trying to resolve the situation and had to find a different, temporary solution to get internet to even perform basic PoS functions to serve customers. Those 35 hours are hours spent not putting together product, not making deliveries, not helping customers. That's about $8500 in lost revenue and $3500 in Brittany's time.

Clear Rate has not only defrauded The Floral Shop by not only failing to provide the services promised, but repeatedly lying about letting our business out of a contract they can't honor, charging MORE for services not delivered, and - to the best of our knowledge - setting this whole situation up under false pretenses.

Desired outcome: Cancellation of contract, release of internet service back to CenturyLink, and voiding of all billed charges

Clear Rate Communications Misrepresentation/fraudulent conduct

This company is a Total Fraud- They misrepresent themselves- Called and pretended to be Frontier Communications-saying they can cut my bill down because I have been a Frontier customer for so long. That my phone service and Voicemail would remain the same and internet speed would be better.
This is a business- we had no internet for over a month. We were trying to reopen our office after the Covid-crisis only to find out that our customers were not able to leave Voicemail. There were no communication on how to set up voicemail. The first communication I got was a Bill for more than I was paying Frontier.
Now they are not releasing my phone number and sending me bills. I have called multiple times- asking for a supervisor and the supervisor doesn't call me back.
It is Ridiculous that this company is still in business. They need to be shut down for misrepresenting and pretending and conning people into contracts. Who knows how much business I have lost not to mention the time I have had to spend figuring out what's happening with my phone lines and internet and being on hold.

Well, Clear Rate makes it sound so simple to port out a number, but it is NOT! I have had the exact same issue as Beth F. My father is elderly and has dementia. They took his number in July of 22 and I have been working since July to get the number back with Verizon but they have every excuse in the book to keep BLOCKING the number. They tell me it was suspended due to non-payment, but again, my father with dementia throws his bills away and we were even unaware that Clear Rate still had his phone number. After multiple (over 12) calls to both Verizon and Clear Rate, Verizon states there is a visible BLOCK on the number and they cannot port. So I found out what was owed to Clear Rate and paid it all, including extra to cover another month and was told it would be 3 to 10 days in order for the line to be unblocked. It has been 10 days and when I call to ask why the number has not been unblocked, they now tell me another block has been put on the number as of December 1. These people are total crooks and you cannot deal with them, you cannot talk to a supervisor, they do not call you back. My father needs a phone since he is elderly and has dementia, but I have been unable in the last 5 months! I'm done!

They told me they were with my phone company and they would not bill me that my bill would continue coming from my previous company! The only difference was the bill would state phone service provider would be Clear Rate list on my previous companies bill. Lied I got two bills the next month and they disconnected my service with the previous company.

Clear Rate Communications slamming phone service of the elderly

A 92-year-old Senior, Juanita Vincent a resident in our Independent Living Retirement Center had her telephone slammed by Clear Rate. She told them she did not want to change phone service providers yet they took over her service anyway. She paid the first bill from Clear Rate after we called Century Link and got her service back (at a higher rate because the plan she used is no longer offered) and we called Clear Rate to discontinue service the same day. Century Link said Clear Rate would not release her old number and therefore now she has a new phone number as well. She received a second bill from Clear Rate, we again called and they said we never disconnected the service. They are not being truthful. Now a final close-out bill has arrived and there is an additional $11.95 charged to the account for a "Service Change Charge"! Why? We tried to call the customer service number but it doesn't ring through. A recording says, the number you are calling is unavailable, please try your call later. Later in the day, it's the same thing. according to slamming rules, Juanita should not have even paid the first bill. So she really should be getting back a refund from either Clear Rate directly of $28.20 or if they pay it to Century Link a fee would be taken out. Please assist us in getting the remainder of this bill taken off her account. My name is Lisa Shipp and I am helping her with this because she is so upset, she cannot think straight when she speaks with them. The overtalk when she is trying to speak and are quite rude. Very unethical conduct.

Clear Rate Communications product/ service

Clear rate is a complete SCAM I would not recommend this service and anyone that says they will has to be an employee or friends of such. My 88 year old aunt has been severely mistreated by this company. A check was sent to them to pay the balance that was supposedly accumulated. Clear rate cashed the check but still refused to contact the service. They called her stating that they was from Verizon only to find out that was far from the truth. Upon speaking to several customer service representatives the customer service is horrible. The representatives was talking over me when I was trying to state what the problem was and also made a nasty comment stating if the bill was paid on time wouldn't have to go thru this and that was coming from an supposedly supervisor. They stated they sent mail out to the address but upon checking with the postal service that wasn't true. This matter is simply out of control and legal actions will be taken as well as reporting to the better business bureau. Alerting everyone know of this fraudulent company.

Clear Rate Communications land line phone service

I am submitting this for my parents. They are an elderly couple with health issues. They have been without phone service for 2weeks now and this company is not trying to resolve anything with them. This has happened so many times. Every time it rains or bad weather, the phones go out. We have repeatedly called to request repairs to solve these problems. They have sent service out, but end up saying that nothing is wrong. SOMETHING IS WRONG! My father has a heart monitor that is used through the phone service to the hospital. How can he receive help if phone isn't working!?

Clear Rate Communications internet service

Was with the company for about 5 days (over a weekend)
Was contacted by sales on a cold call
Was promised a much lower cost for the same access speed
and same level of customer support - I asked at least three times during the
conversation "Will speed and support be altered?" and was told [three times] "The only difference will the loser cost, where I send my payments to and who I call cor support
When switched to Clear Rate my connection speed dropped from 100 Mb/sec
to 1.9 Mb / sec
Called support on a Saturday and the only "support" I could get was "Turn off power
to the modem for 5 min.
Finally got hold of real support on Monday and was told my speed was supposed to be 1Mb/sec and I was getting more than I was paying for.
Asked to be switched to sales told them I was discontinuing their service immediately and they agreed. I did receive a bill for the initial connection and the cost of their modem which I paid
I just received another bill for service threatening to end my service.

STAY AWAY FROM CLEAR RATE THEY ARE LIARS

How can Complaints Board post something that says " this complaint has been annulled and must not be considered where image of the company in question and it's services are concerned"? If a complaint was made, it must have had good reason and the image of the company is indeed tainted. Just because the company pays off or otherwise resolves an issue, doesn't make me think any less of the offending company. Look how many complaints have been filed against Clearrate. Their image is not good and they should be avoided like the plague!

My husband decided to shop around for cheaper insurance, he was contacted by clear rate who told us they could give us the same phone and Internet service as verizon for 70 dollar's cheaper...ok great deal just to switch over and have the most shoddy phone and Internet service calls not coming or always being disconnected and internet slower then ever. My husband called them to ask about the internet speed and they said it was a mistake in the account and give them a week to fix it. Called back a week later to say they don't even provide the Internet speed they promised us in our area!

Then proceeded to swear they never told my husband he would get that speed. To which he told him yes they had, because he never would have switched to them if they had told him that the Internet would be slower that they promised him that they would provide the same service for cheaper. They now say he is in contract and has to pay out to end it.

Not surprising. It always shocks me when people complain here on Complaints Board, but if they had looked up Clear Rate Communications BEFORE signing up for their service they would have seen all the other people who have had lousy service from Clear Rate.

Clear Rate Communications internet and landline

A customer service rep, called me and asked did I want to lower my monthly service. Advised me that my previous company I had been with is putting a lot of charges on my bill I'm never supposed to be charged for in the state I live in. She also stated the my bill will be 64.99 with taxes and everything included. So I told her to call me back, she advised that this is a one deal and its one phone call per house. I thought that was kind stage. I said yes, I didn't know that I was getting a service is worse then I already had. I received the modem and could not hook it up for two weeks. The when I did hook the modem up I had so much trouble. Then I call customer service again, could not get in touch with anyone. When I did get untouched with tech dept and she could not even help me. She advised, that she was going to put a ticket out and it will take about 48 to 72 hours and they will call me. I felt some was not right about that, so I got up the next day and called again, and the young man help me with it. since then I have been calling and overtime cant no one tell me anything. Everything in my home runs off the Internet .So I called again when I receive my second bill and to find out I was getting charged the same amount for my last Internet and phone service from another company. She advised that I had the lowest plan and that's why I cant use all a my devices in my home and if I changed my plan it would cost more. So I asked, can how can I fix it. She advised me of 12 gab for almost 100 dollars. This is a mess when u cant use all your devices. And the phone service is so stacked all I'm saying I would like to get what I paved for. I also asked how much is it to cancel she advised it would be over a 100 dollar.and I really don't have time to call them overtime I get a bill. The customer service rep is trained well not one I spoke with did say sorry or even tries to solve the problem. Like the just don't care. Its my fault not doing my research on this company before changing . I really don't know why I'm taking this time out my day to even right this. This is one company that just don't care. They need to understand with out customers, they would have a company. Who every reading this before signing anything read this first. Always remember less is not all ways best I just wish I never signed with one less headache I could have

Had you looked here, at Complaints Board, you would have seen how many complaints Clear Rate has. Your issue is not uncommon. What state are you in? I would recommend filing a complaint with your state's public utility commission.
