Payment to letter carriers is based on the number of steps taken to complete their route. I have seen this being measured (wheel on a stick) to determine the number of steps it would take a carrier to go up a drive, to the mail box, back down the drive, along the sidewalk and up the next drive to the next mail box and so on, . It annoys me to see what I saw today. I looked out my office window to see a letter carrier passing directly in front of the window, across the lawn, step up onto a retaining wall, walk straight through a 15 foot wide garden, down off the retaining wall and up onto the porch to come in and deliver the mail. Really?????? Not only was this disrespectful to walk through our garden area but she is not properly doing the job she is paid to do. I'm sure I don't have the only lawn she walked across today.
