BBVA checking account / rude handling of me and my account

I went into BBVA Compass today. I merely needed to cash a check and to pay off a few dollars that I owe them. By a few I mean it was $5.78 and I had cash in hand. Well then I found out that they had double backed on an NSF fee on my account. I prior to even going in had spoken with a representative on the phone and they said if I went in and paid the amount that I owed they would not charge me that.

Well the teller seemed to know what she was doing. She even had to help the personal banker who came across completely clueless to me. Then she called me over and it seemed as if NEITHER of them could read and or understand the state of my account. So the personal banker in question do believe her name is Peggy was very curt with me. She sat me down at her desk and more or less threatened to charge me more fees.

So I will be calling super early tomorrow to speak with someone to find a person with which to report them to and hopefully be treated fairly.

Cause gosh knows I would love to pay them the $5.78 and then promptly close my account with them FOR GOOD.

I understand exactly how you feel! I go thru the same service almost every time I go into their banks! And I have been to all three branches where I live. Muscle Shoals, AL 35661. Also, on Cox Creek Parkway in Florence, Alabama 35630, And downtown Florence, AL 35630 Branch on Court Street. They are ALL Smiley and How can we help you. Until they find out that you actually have a problem and they have to try to help you and they have absolutely no idea what they are going to do. So, very quickly they look around to try to see who might know how to help you. Meanwhile, they are stuttering and tripping all over their own feet and sweat begins at their forehead and ends up running down their back! One sight I really don't want to see because I Hate the bank and don't even want to be there! But, please let me add the reason I have to go into their Sinister Bank if I need anything done. Have you ever tried to call the bank, for the simplest question you could ask them ? My experience: I have been put "on hold" for at least one hour because they use the excuse that you are No. 5 in the queue, when actually you may be No.547, but you have to take their word for it because you cannot see what is going on over the phone! OK, listen to this, after sitting there, wasting 1 hour of time that I will never get back. Well, please stay with me for a few moments. After one whole hour for waiting to get important information that depends on keeping my own home or losing it to these "people" they just HUNG UP ON ME! and of course if you have to call them and don't want to sit there on hold all day, they have an option of "leaving your name and no. with them" and you won't lose your place in line between queue 5 and queue 547" which I still haven't understood that it could take them 3hrs, 4hrs, 5hrs or 6hrs to get to your phone call! But, one day I tried this method of them calling me back, after 5 or 6 hrs. Well, by then I had more errands to do that day so I was in the car and then they CALL! Well, I'm sorry but I couldn't drive and discuss the possibility of losing my home by discussing a Loan! I am so HAPPY that I found this complaint site. I think this site is the only good thing that I have seen this bank do! And I will be back because that is just the tip of all the bad treatment this bank has caused me! Good Luck to all of you captive customers!

BBVA froze my account

On a Saturday after shopping all day. I go to buy another thing. My card was decline.

It was 4 o'clock on a sat. My phone was dead. Had to drive 20 minutes home to charge my phone after holding 20 minutes to speak to a rep. From compass. I was told my card was Flagged.
And in ten minutes the hold would be lifted.
Little to mY surprise. It was not lifted.
And when I called back. Closed until Monday.
Left me with no cash and no way to operate until Monday. I had 4000 in my account.
On hold because I went shopping. Not able to get ready for my work week.
How is possible. A bank can control your money. Not one person. To talk to.

BBVA my account!

I am getting no where through your customer service online. I have written twice now advising that I do not live in the US and I am trying first to get a ATM/Eftpos card (which I haven't had updated for many years) and also how I can do a name change (first name). I was firstly told my account had been 'abandoned'... what! and why! I get statements every month, which incidentally over many years I wasn't getting because they were going to WA in the states and not WA in Australia.. that got sorted but now I am being told that I need to go into a branch (and twice I have said I don't live in the US) and there are not branches in Australia) to have my account activated. I have had nothing but problems with this bank. Before I left the US, I just wanted to open an account that I could operate from overseas and and I was assured of all my questions. I really don't think the woman now had any idea of what I was talking about. I would just like to speak to someone of any knowledge to be able to help me straighten this out.

BBVA unethical behaviour

On 9/30 I deposited an insurance claim check (signed by my mortgage company and myself) into a BBVA Compass ATM at 480 E 120th AVE Northglenn CO 80233. I then received a letter on 10/3 stating that "multiple payees-payee not an account owner". On Monday 10/5 I called the customer service line and they were able to pull up an image of the check and stated that there was no reason why this check could not be deposited. I had the check image faxed to the BBVA branch at 480 E 120th AVE and then went into the branch to speak to a supervisor. When I got to the bank I asked for a supervisor, Ramona Mitchelle who was completely stated she was a supervisor and would try and answer my questions. Come to find out she is only a Sales Advisor and completely misrepresented herself. After showing her all of my documentation and explaining the issue she stated that the checks in the ATM are not picked up until Thursdays and that there is nothing they would do. She refused to obtain the check prior to Thursday and would not explain why. She further refused to walk across the lobby to retrieve the fax from the customer service department. She verified that they have an image of the check both front and back on the computer and that she could see both signatures, However they needed the physical check which was in the ATM. I stated that there was no sign of any kind on the ATM telling customers that if you are depositing an insurance check or a check with multiple payees that it should be taken inside. She only shrugged and gave no verbal response. When I asked her why I am able to make deposits with my phone and they deposit those checks with images only yet they cannot do that now even thought they have the physical check in their custody in the ATM she stated they just couldn't. It is completely unreasonable to tell a customer that they cannot make certain deposits at the ATM after the fact when there is no sign, and no notification what so ever and then refuse to give that customer back their check. After returning home I called the customer service line again. I was again informed that there was no reason for the bank to not deposit the check and that it was "already in route back to me" I asked how this was possible after I was told by Ramona that they could not access the check until Thursday. The customer service rep stated she did not know. It is obvious that Ramona Mitchelle is unethical and a lier. She misrepresented herself and lied about the whereabouts of the check.

BBVA excessive overdraft fees, unable to catch up.

I deposited an insurance check from a wreck I was in. I was rear ended while stopped at a red light. The insurance claim turned into a lawsuit. Then that insurance check bounced.in the last couple of months I have not been able to catch back up due to all the overdraft fees. BBVA refuses to refund even one $38.00 overdraft fee. Now I am out a over $1000.00 in the last couple of months. I cannot catch up. I feel there is nothing I can do at this point. I really just feel like a slave to BBVA.

Similar thing with me . . . not to that degree. Now I get NSF and overdraft protection charges without any transactions attempted or made. Can you say USURY. They have the nerve, to write in their literature, ..."dedicated to improving the lives and financial well being of the people in our communities" . No more money into my account and I will bank elsewhere.

BBVA discrimination and theft

Compass Bank was charging me 20dollars a month in a type of checking account I did not choose. They wanted a minimum of 7500 dollars. I only had 3000 dollars. When I discovered the monthly debit, I asked them about it and then they told me that there was another basic checking account that only required 1500 minimum balance. I would like the person who supposedly explained the different checking accounts to come forward.
By the time I was told that I could have a basic checking account, I had already had to cancel the checking account and taken the balance to another bank.

Time Deposit. I sent specific instructions as to how I wanted my TD to renew. It was left to renew automatically at a term and rate that I did not want. The bank is keeping interest that I should be earning. This practice is called theft. My instructions were totally dismissed.

I wrote a letter requesting customer service to an individual who was supposed to be in charge of my account. He responded with discriminatory remarks. Why would he have to say that he is not bilingual and that he does not speak Spanish if I wrote to him in correct English? I have been discriminated against, I have been profiled, I have been robbed, i have been ignored, my wishes have been dismissed. In short, never have I been treated with such disrespect a banking institution in my entire life.

My access to on-line banking was blocked, I do not receive statements either on paper or by e-mail. My account was sent to Houston without consultation or my consent.

BBVA loan scamming

BBVA Compass is in breach of a vehicle loan contract with me. I need to know if there are any other people having loan problems with them that would be interested in filing a class action lawsuit with me. They have very bad business practices and shouldn't be allowed to get away with it. They think they can because the majority of the people they deal with can't go against them and afford attorneys. All I'm interested in is getting what I have already completed paying for and that is the title to my vehicle. Message me on facebook(dot)com(forward slash)hikaramba if anybody is interested.

BBVA stealing my money

I opened an acount in mexico so that my mom can have some money there.
in the past 2 yrs some one in that branch has been withdrawing money with out our consent its allways at the teller when i confronted them they were not helpfull not even the main branch in mexico city they are stealing money from people that live partime in mexico.
Their is about 20 others in the same town and from the same branch that have the same cirumstances that we have had.
these enployees of the bank are stealing the peoples money. The main branch will not help because they have a antiquated policy that you must notify them with in the first 30 days of the loss, even though we only recive a statement about once every four months..
how is that posible?

BBVA holding check deposits

Although I have been a customer since Compass took over Guarantee bank here in Texas, without any "issues" with my account, each time I try to deposit a large check they want to put a hold on the funds for 5 business days. I work contract labor. So from one week to the next my "paycheck" may reflect a large amount. Depending on the "job" I may not get paid for a month or sometimes longer. As such my account balances(I had multiple accounts with them) might drop below $1500.00. Yet in the 5 plus years since they took over I have had no overdrafts and one returned check. The one returned check was do to the account the check being drawn on was compromised. The bank that the check was drawn on replaced the check as soon as it was notified of the issue and this did not cause my account to be overdrawn.
I discussed this issue with the branch manager several times in the past. For a couple of months this stopped the ridiculous holds. I have had the same account # for over 30 years. The original account was with Richardson Savings and loan. They were bought by another institution. Then Guarantee Bank bought them. BBVA Compass took over in 2009 when Guarantee failed.
Recently I have not seen the same personnel working at the counters for longer than a couple of weeks. As I cannot seem to find a way to make this bank into the type of institution I have worked with for the past thirty years I have decided to put and end to my relationship with them.
The reality of this complaint is only to notify all those considering or holding accounts with BBVA Compass to be very careful and to start looking now for another banking institution. As far as I can tell the policies and personnel at BBVA Compass are intended to make sure it is impossible to have a personal relationship with their customers. And their target market is intended to reflect making sure they can collects as many "fees" as possible.

BBVA loan denied 9 days before closing

BBVA Compass loans is a scam! I was pre-approved for a loan, found a condo to purchase. I paid for the appraisal, inspection, and turned in my notice to my apartments. I was set to close on 3/21. I was informed today that I can't purchase the condo due to too many HOA delinquencies. They knew about the delinquencies when I first applied for the loan. Here is the scam part of the whole deal; the person before me that was trying to buy the same condo was denied the loan right before her closing, and after she paid for the inspection and appraisal. Why did she get denied? Too many HOA delinquencies. They made sure to grab the appraisal money from my account right before they informed me about not getting the loan. BBVA Compass is a SCAM!

That's bad. I have a loan application with BBVA, and scary to know that things can fall apart a few days before closing. Any advice on how to protect myself? Thanks for sharing your experience.

BBVA failed to act

On Aug 12, 2013 my husband and I walked into the Foothills Mall Location of Compass bank it Tucson AZ. We advised the loan officer that my mother who held accounts with them had passed away over the weekend. I provided a copy of a power of Attorney that Compass bank had drawn up for my mother to give me access to her accounts should something happen to her. I was advised that the POA stopped when my mother passed. I offerd to provide a copy of the will if needed, and was told that would not help. I adivsed that we were not there to close the account and claim the funds, we only wanted a stop placed on the account to stop any deposits and/or withdrawls from the account. So that when it came time to close the accounts we would not have all the issues of returing deposits and prevent transactions that no longer needed to take place.

Compass bank over the next 30 days continued to allow electronic desposits and withdrawls take place on my mothers account. When I was able to get the Death certificate they still would not stop the transactions, and tried to force me in to probate. Not needed for an estate under 50, 000.000. We I finally was able to obtain the paperwork that was good enough for them, they were delighted in the fact that they would not be able to transfer the funds left in my mothers account since they had to return all the depsosited funds back to the retirment system and Social Security. Needless to say there is not enought left in the account to cover the amount of withdrawls they allowed to take place. Our family is not even able to obtain the balance of her account on the date she passed to cover her expenses. Little do they know I will not give up, until they make good on this matter.

THIS BANK IS A RIP OFF...STAY FAR FAR FAR Away.

BBVA unresponsive

I started a new construction loan with BBVA Compass. I have been trying to close the loan after a few hiccups with the bulder. Long story short...I have tried to contact my loan officer for months. He will not return my calls and I have been unable to proceed with closing. I have tried to get management to contact me as well and have not been successful with that either. I have one bank officer that has been awesome, but unable to gain any traction on my behalf. Bottom line, I am going to have to start the process again with another bank and pay the fees again. Worst part is the delay is costing me thousands in increased interest rates that has occurred over the past few months. All in all, it has been unbelievable.

BBVA fraud

A person claiming to be a woman named Benita Garcia attempted to purchase art from my web site. It took quite a few e-mail exchanges, but I was finally overpaid by check via FedEx. When I took the check in to the bank to deposit it, my bank said a hold had been placed on it. (I had been about to issue a refund to the New Jersey address that was given to me by the person. She said she was in the process of moving. Her new address is in the most expensive zip code in the USA.) The check is from Landes Bioscience in Austin, Texas, which I think is a fake company with a pretty elaborate web site. The typefaces for the company name and the typefaces/print for the amount issued and the person to whom it was made out are identical, so I think the checks are generated by the fraudulent party. (My bank speculated that the checks were stolen.) DO NOT ACCEPT ANY CHECKS FROM THIS COMPANY AND ALWAYS BE VERY SUSPICIOUS OF OVERPAYMENT FOR ANY GOODS ONLINE.

It's unfortunate that this individual was the victim of fraud. Landes Bioscience was also the victim of the same fraud. The company's bank information was stolen by an unauthorized outside person who used the information to create fake checks. These fake checks were used to purchase goods online. The checks were fake so they bounced. The checks had Landes Bioscience's name on them, so the people who were scammed believed the company was responsible. Unfortunately, there was nothing we could do about someone stealing company bank information except shut down the bank account and make complaints to the FTC and ICCC. The allegation that Landes Bioscience is a fake company is completely preposterous. The complainant wants a scapegoat for this scam and has inaccurately targeted Landes Bioscience. Also, it doesn't make any sense that the complainant would (a) accept a check for above the amount of goods purchased; and (b) accept a check from someone who says they're in New Jersey despite the check address being in Texas. These actions do not display much common sense.

BBVA horrible auto loans

I bought a new car in 2012. The dealership arranged financing through BBVA Compass Bank. I wanted to pay cash for the car but the dealership begged me to finance it instead and said, "It will build your credit." I thought, "oh, what can it hurt?" After I took possession of the car, I waited. Not a word from BBVA Compass Bank. I didn't know who the financing was arranged through or who to make payments to. So I had to call the dealership and find out, then call BBVA Compass Bank and ask for payment books with address so I could make my payment. Still, no payment books. I called several times. I finally just used my online banking and made the payments like that. Could not get any information from BBVA Compass. I got so sick of their bad service, I sold the car and plan to buy another one and pay cash. However, after I sold my car, I could not get the title sent to me. My bank wired the payment directly to BBVA Compass Bank but it was not until one month later and a demanding phone call that I received my title. The guy that bought the car was threatening to bring it back. As it turned out, BBVA was sending my stuff to the wrong address, even though every time I called about my missing stuff, I would tell them my address to make sure they had it right. They were putting a totally wrong city. What a lousy company. I can't stand that bank! Bad service

Three days after my due date I received a call about my past due payment. Told her the check is in the mail. She then made me verify ALL of my personal information, including the phone number that she just called me on. Claims no "grace period". Interest is charged at $5 per day past due date, plus phone calls. I will be refinancing this as soon as possible.

Not far off from my own experience. Bought new truck in Feb. 20013. Dealership arranged financing through BVAA Compass... In the 11 months I have had this loan, they have arbitrarily sent 4 different payment books (not the "next" one, but a replacement starting usually with the month it is sent in - except the most recent). Each with a new payment due date. No explanation. Further, payments are credited right up against the end of the "grace period". Payment mailed to days or two weeks before the printed due date - doesn't matter. And a couple of times, payments were not credited in a timely manner (despite being mailed well ahead of due date - even by their own statements when on the phone).
Latest run-in - yet another payment book. Sent payment before due date. Got call today asking about late payment. Ummm... even by the OLD due date, I am still in the "grace period". Oh - and never mind that they closed for winter weather for two days (about the time we expected payment to arrive to them). They are seriously back-logged. But why the call before the grace period/late date? Also found out the latest payment book I received - the date doesn't match what they have in their computers... 3 days difference. Why?

BBVA bank sent blocked trust accounts to state controller after taking over for guaranty bank

My two minor children had Blocked Trust accounts at Guaranty Bank since 2004. The money can not be touched until the children ae 18. The CDS will mature near their individual eightenth birthday. Guaranty Bank is a failed bank that BBVA compass took over. I recieved information from BBVA compass about the accounts--ie the account numbers would stay the same. I even phoned BBVA Compass to update our address This takeover was in 2009. BBVA Compass became the holders of the accounts i believe FEb2010. These accounts are blocked and there is a court order that reads that the funds can not be touched until the chidlren are 18. It is very frustrating that BBVA Compass turned over the principal balance as of 2011 to the Calif STate Controller Office. BBVA Compass told me that the accounts were inactive and that was the reason they were sent to the STate controllers office. I dont even think this BAnk checked to see that these were block trust accounts. I contacted the state controllers office and was told th at i would have to file a claim for the funds and then once the claims approved a check would be sent. How can this be--what about the interest. BBVA compass sends a yearly 1099 showing the interest amount. This Bank is awful and had the nerve to tell me the principal amounts are at the state controllers office and the interest at their bank. I feel that if a court order reads the monies are to be deposit in a blocked account and the mature date for one is 2014 and the other 2018, then when the bank took over --the accounts should have stayed with BBVA compass. I received information from BBVA compass reading that the accoutn numbers would stay the same and interest rate would be the same until the cd mature. Also, all atempts to have BBVA compass to correct the social security number of my son's cd has been unsuccessful. I have now contacted the FDIC as well as contacing BBVA compass.

BBVA fraudulent charges after closing account

Over 1 year ago I had an account with BBVA Compass which included checking, savings and a line of credit via a credit card. When I wanted to close my account I called and asked what the process was for closing the accounts. I was told to bring a letter into the branch that I dealt with to close all of my accounts. I complied with this process over 1 year ago. In March this year I received an invoice from the Line of Credit Charge Card for an annual fee. (realize the account has had a zero balance and no activity for over 1 year) I called the credit card company to let them know they made a mistake in charging me for an annual fee. I was informed that since I did not go through the correct process to close my account that I still owe the annual fee for a credit card that I do not use. I asked what the process was to close the account and was told to pay the bill and go to my branch and give them a letter to close the account. (does this sound familiar to anyone?) Oh did I mention that when I had my bank account this line of credit charge card did not have an annual fee? The fee was assessed because I no longer had an account attached to the credit card. (of course not, I closed the account)

I asked how I could escalate the issue and was told to contact the branch because only they could close the account and waive the fees if they determine they are not warranted. I called the branch and was told they would "check into it". I finally received a call back after 3 attempts to get someone to help me and the final answer was that I owe the fee and should pay it by coming into the branch with a letter to close the account. (not this again) I have refused to pay the $20 annual fee which has now compounded with penalties to $61. The credit card company has turned this into the credit agencies and I continue to get harrassing calls at home to pay this bill. I do not know what my options are to dispute this, but clearly I am getting the run around by BBVA Compass.

If anyone knows how to win this battle with the bank / credit card company please give me direction.

BBVA illegitimate escrow increases

Each year, Compass BBVA sends me a letter claiming I have inadequate insurance for my condo. And each year I send them proof of insurance from my HOA. Until last week, I had managed to escape any further trouble. But this year, Compass said I had an escrow adjust of $90 more per month. The reason cited was insurance. But my HOA pays for my insurance through my substantial quarterly dues. I'm working on trying to get this taken care of, again. How can this be anything but fraud?

BBVA atm steals credit cards

I inserted my ATM card into a Bancomer ATM in a mall. The machine immediately restarted, a Windows startup screen came on and a slow boot process began, ending approximately 10 minutes later. The machine then gave an error, saying the card had been seized. Not only did the Bancomer machine malfunction, it would not give back my card.

There was no staff available to assist except a security guard who gave me the Bancomer toll-free number. We were in a rented taxi who had allowed us to use the bank machine so we did not have time to wait and call. I subsequently called my bank, Citibank, and spent a significant amount of time as well as long distance charges to report the card as lost. The whole ordeal, including the loss of my ATM card for the duration of my travel, was an unacceptable hassle. This situation is unacceptable and can lead to a potentially dangerous condition of being stranded without cash while traveling.

Why are Bancomer's machines programmed to seize the customer's card if a Bancomer-related malfunction occurs?
