I turned in my modem and discontinued my internet service on June 28. The local Spectrum representative checked my account and told me I would have no additional payments to make. Today I received a bill for my normal payment $64.99. When I called Spectrum they said they do not prorate so they want me to pay for a half month that I had no service. I’ve been a long time customer, always pay early and never late on a payment. This is not the only problem I’ve had with Spectrum. This is the thanks I get.
Recommendation: Stay away from Spectrum!!!
That feels like a slap in the face after you were such a loyal customer. I get why you are steaming. Here is a practical move that has worked for others: call them back and ask straight for the "Retention Department" (not billing). Tell them you have the rep's name and date from June 28 and that you will file a complaint with the FCC if they do not reverse that charge. Retention agents have actual power to waive prorated fees to keep you happy, even if the first line says no. If that fails, do a chargeback on your credit card for the service you did not receive, since you have proof of return. You do not owe them a penny for silence. Fight it, but fight it smart with those two levers.
