My Father died on the 2nd of December 2025. As soon as I had a death certificate I telephoned BG to notify them, explaining that it was a joint account and my Fathers name (misspelt) needed removing. I was told this wasn't possible and a new account needed setting up. I also explained my Mother is a 93 year old dementia sufferer for whom I hold POA and all correspondence needed to be sent to me so I could deal with it. So today is February the 10th and I am no further forward. I have telephoned 6 times and on 2 occasions been cut off after being on the line for nearly an hour. I have e mailed twice attaching copies of the death certificate but have not had the courtesy of a reply. I have tried the online chat facility and contacting the complaints department but out of the 10 advisors I have had contact with not one has been able to complete a simple task. When I last made contact the account was still in joint names, shocking. My Mother is now in substantial arrears but I am thankful she is unaware of this.
