I sold a phone to Russell Williams of 33 Stringhey Road, Wallasey, CH441EF. He paid me £135 via PayPal on 27/07/26. Royal Mail got the postcode mixed up so delivery was delayed & Russell filed a charge back through his bank Barclays just 4 days later on 31/7/26 and PayPal debited £135 from me. With the ease of Russell doing the chargeback and what he said, it seemed like it's something he was used to doing. Royal Mail eventually delivered the phone to Russell on 12/8/26 and sent PayPal proof of delivery. But it seems like Russell has made no attempt to sort the chargeback out and neither is he willing. PayPal have evidence of it being delivered to him & said they are waiting for Barclays to contact them. I would like the chargeback reversing & money paid back to my PayPal account. Russell said got a letter from Barclays asking for an update & he said he threw it away. He said he believed by not answering that the money would find it's way back to me. He said that Barclays took it back from his bank on 5th October, obviously I have no evidence of this. I've got a transcript of him confirming he received phone. I've attached the conversation between myself & Russell on messenger & he admits to receiving the phone and binning the letter from Barclays asking him to provide further information. I sent PayPal proof of delivery & they said they are waiting to hear from Barclays Bank. I rang Barclays bank this evening and they said I need to perhaps get the police involved and report Russell for fraud, but I this stage I don't think it's necessary as Barclays bank and PayPal should be sorting it out.. Its just mad that someone is allowed to do a charge back after only 4 days. It seems no one is listening to me. Russell is literally getting away with fraud if he is telling lies by saying the money has gone out of his account. Only Barclays Bank can resolve this. I'm literally a single mother who is trying to make ends meet and to be treated this way is despicable
Claimed loss: £135 + £12 fee
Desired outcome: Reverse chargeback & put money back in my PayPal. He got letter from Barclays asking for update & threw it away. He confirmed he got fone. Ive attached chat with him on messenger & he admits to receiving phone & binning letter from Barclays
