We're pretty sure that if Bank of America showed up wayyyy more often on ComplaintsBoard and paid more attention to reviews and complaints, it would lead to better results. But for now, the resolution rate doesn't show successful interaction with customers. We advise reviewers to be careful when communicating with Bank of America and be ready for the chance your problem might not get a response. It's also good to start looking for other solutions if your issues aren't fixed as you want.

Bank of America Credit card

Greetings,

My name is Boris Medvedev, I reside in Slidell, Louisiana. Approximately two weeks ago, I received an offer in the mail for a credit card with terms that I found appealing. I applied for the offer and was approved.

On 8/3/23, I received my new card in the mail. I downloaded a mobile app as per the instructions on the card, but the app only gave me one option to "schedule an appointment". I then went on to bankofamerica.com and attempted to log in using the same information I used to create an account with the mobile app. The website would not allow me to proceed past the log in portion. At which time, I called the phone number on the card. A lady who answered the phone was polite and advised me to go to a local branch to "get verified". I found it strange but did not argue. I looked up the nearest branch to me and was surprised to find out that the nearest branch to me was 172 miles away.

Being a rational person, I did not get into my truck, that gets 9 miles to a gallon, and did not begin a journey to the nearest Bank of America to get verified for a credit card. I called the number back, I was prompted to type in my social security number, and after a minute of waiting in silence, the line hung up. I repeated the previous step, and once again I was hung up on.

I googled Bank of America customer service number and called it. Thankfully, this time another very nice person answered the phone. I explained my problem to her and after a back and forth that lasted approximately 20 minutes, this person advised me that I would have to drive 172 miles to get my issue resolved. I asked her what she would think if she were asked to do the same task, at which point she wished me a good day and hung up the phone.

Of course, at this point, I began to feel like I was being pranked; anyone in my position would. I deduced that the issue may have something to do with a fraud issue. So, I called the fraud department number for Bank of America. After speaking with a polite person for approximately 30 minutes, we circled back to the same outcome - travel to Bank of America branch, there is nothing I can do. As one would in this situation, I asked to speak to someone with more advanced access in order to assist me with my issues, and 10-15 minutes later, the person on the phone referred me to an automated character named Erica via the mobile app. I advised the person on the phone that my mobile app only provided me with an option to "make an appointment (remember that from earlier?), so I did not have a way to communicate with "Erica", at which time the person from the fraud department transferred me to the customer care team, despite my objection.

After being transferred to the customer care team member, I was assured that my issue would be resolved in a timely manner, and I was advised that we needed to get in touch with the fraud department (remember where I was just transferred from). Once that was accomplished, I finally learned that my card was blocked, however, no one would tell me why. The person on the phone asked me for my phone numbers, which I provided. She then told me that my phone numbers could not be verified, therefore, I needed to go ahead and travel the 172 miles to the nearest Bank of America branch.

By now, you can probably imagine that I was no longer interested in having this credit card activated, but I learned that I would have to drive my happy behind (remember the 9 miles to the gallon) just to have this card cancelled. Whoopie! I will get right on that.

I am a police officer, but due to my enormous family obligations I also have another job and I own a small business. I say to this illustrate how important my time is to me, and how these 3 hours I spent dealing with this issue affected me, as I am sure many other people who will now despise your organization due to your practices. Through all of my methods of acquiring income, I deal with 5 different financial institutions. Not ONE time did I ever have to step out of the comfort of my house or my office to open an account or to close one.

My objectives in writing this complaint are following:

- If this is a standard practice for your bank to perform in person verifications then stop offering your services in the states where you do not have branches.

- Management is a very important part of any customer service industry. If a customer continuously requests to speak to a manager, your staff should not refer the already upset customer to an AI character instead.

- It would make me less upset, if even one person in your enormous organization could find a way to use any or all forms of my identification to cancel my account without me having to drive 172 miles to see you in person.

Desired outcome: See narrative

Bank of America Closed my account same day I put money and using at the store

Jonathan ArreguiN Valencia that's in at the 2513 fresno street branch closed mime

And what a coincidence the day on or the next after telling him asking him that "what Is my limit if what i can deposit?" And he says there is no limit MrPelayo its unlimited" with a smurk In his smile and then asks me "Why? How much you going to put in there or who and how?" And I told him " oh because I met this Gorgeous girl fro. New York and she and me are going to meet and get married but it's with the inheritance money her consultant are wanting to transfer into my account".

After I told him that story the next day when this lady and consultant were going to deposit some payment from the inheritance it gets shut down but even though the same day I went In at the branch to deposit 25 dollars of mine which I used that same couple of hours to buy liquor at the store because the issue that same day I just was using my account debit card to purchase things is when they were going to put money in it but I belive they changed they're mind because of him

He went and got at this woman that I went through hella [censored] to try to open one account for the consultant to put money in... what would you do? If you're single for 10 years from a 6year relationship with a daughter and she just gets rid if you and not only that not once let's you take you're daughter anywhere not once not even to the sidewalk by myself. With this I was going to buy all that i missed out with my 13 year old daughter now that not only that, her mother want to abort the whole 2 months but i begged and cried so much that she didn't when we reached the 3rd month...what would you do and this lady tells you all this things about having 3 kids by me and truly loves me and she's going to marry me hug me when and kiss deeply when we get go meet in person. But how? That account closed now. So I went ant opened a chase bank account and to do thus with the consultant, well that was supposed to be done by around by April or March with BoA, it didn't even pass a month I think so it wasn't no late maintaine mothly fee issue... the chase is still open right now right now but the consultant was busy then till now till this date little by little that "Truly love me [censored] is out the window" she don't really tell me this sweet things she would always write me nothing. And I think because Jonathan got at her... dirty [censored]

Desired outcome: The Truth, even though after hearing the truth and how I was so much on point with what I was speculating thinking why it closed, why? because of him

Bank of America Safe deposit box

My wife passed away Feb. 2, 2023. She had a B of A CD, a Checking Account and the Safe Deposit Box. I was appointed Executive of her estate by the Probate court, Chatham County, GA. B of A satisfied the CD and Checking Accounts with Payment. The local bank representative refused to open the safe deposit box due to a co signer on the account. I have both keys (2) to the box. They cannot tell me the name of the co-signer. My lawyer states these people are breaking the law by limiting me access to the wife's belongings? My job is to gather her estate belongings and report to the Probate Court.

Desired outcome: To allow me to enter the box, gather whatever belongings, and close the account.

Bank of America Debit card theft

I am attempting to resolve a dispute that was first filed in 2020 and I keep getting emails from Enterprise Resolution services however when I try to contact them back I only get an automated email or voicemail. I have had 4 separate specialists and none have relied after initial contact they made. I have the confession of the person that stole the debit card from the mailbox admitting he took 4196.69 from my account. He stole the card before I ever got to see the account and due to a bank of America sending the card to the wrong address or alerting me they was even sending the card. I need help

Desired outcome: Return of the 4196.69 back to me and all accounts closed

Bank of America Did not receive monetary award when I left the company

I started working at Merrill Lynch in October 2007. In September 2009, Merrill Lynch was purchased by Bank of America. I received an award for $25000 in November 2009 for completing the FAACAP program. This was tracked in my wealth choice account. I left Merrill Lynch in November 30, 2016 and asked Bank of America to payoff the balance of my credit card with money from this account. I tried to work this out with Bank of America over the next year but never reached a solution. I was never payed this money and the credit card went into collections. The balance was over $60000 when I left and since then the credit card is now a judgement against my credit. I have a statement from 2014 with the wealth choice plan and can provide that.

Desired outcome: I would like the judgement paid and removed from my credit and receive any funds left over.

Bank of America fraud

In the past 2 months I had to get 4 new credit cards, because as soon as I activate them within 24 hs. there are fraud charges. This last new card I never even activated it, yet today I see that there was a charge made July 25th for $17.19. My concern is how does anyone even use a card that is not activated, also I'm starting to think that this is an inside job.

Desired outcome: please reply via email to [protected]@comcast.net

Bank of America Mobile home foreclosure

My husband purchased a 1980 Bayshore Mobile Home LAG5325

RD1737A RD1737B Serial No. In 1984 and in 1988 we divorced.

My Ex-husband died in 1993. I have had no information from any one about this account. In 2023 I received a tax bill for [protected] forwarded from My ex-husband address. This is 39yrs later and why Bank of America did not contact me about this account. I don't have account numbers or even where to find any information on what Bank of America has done about the mobile home. I'm sure it foreclosed after 39yrs. However, my name is still on the county records as a registered owner. I need to get it transferred back to the legal owner. Which is Bank of America.

You would really think a bank as large as BOA would handle a mortgage account a little better then just forget about it until someone contacts them.

This account is so old no-one can tell what to do about it. I moved out of the area in 1988, but didn't fall off the face of the earth!

Hazel Jones

Desired outcome: Someone to contact me with the information needed to transfer this mobile back to Bank of America beings that in 39yrs I haven't heard anything about this account. It

Bank of America Online digital fraud

To whom it may concern,

I am writing to you because I have been involved in an online fraud scam with Bank of America. I have filed a claim with Bank of America and filed a police report regarding this issue. The total amount of my fraud claim is $4,400. Bank of America keeps declining my claim. I am very unhappy with the services I am receiving from Bank of America regarding this online fraud scam and feel like I am being dismissed without this issue being seriously addressed and taken care of. I have called the online support number multiple times and nobody has been able to provide me with the proper help. I trusted Bank of America with my money and have been a loyal customer for over 10 years. There was no fraud protection provided by Bank of America when the funds were being sent to the other person. I feel very unsafe having my money in the bank where scammers can easily have access to my funds without being verified.

I would like to get detailed information on my claim status regarding what actions were taken and if Bank of America was able to identify the person money was sent to and if yes, why can’t Bank of America hold that person accountable for their actions? I have all the needed proof that the money that was sent did not have promised return of service/item (aka apartment rental). I am a travel nurse that always rents out different apartments in different states and haven’t had any issues before. I put my full trust in Bank of America to have my funds fully secured and protected. Now I am questioning Bank of America’s interest in protecting their clients’ funds. I would like the proper and correct actions to be taken and my funds be returned to me. I appreciate your time and will be waiting on your response. Thank you.

Valentina Kruk

[protected]@hotmail.com

Desired outcome: Please refund me my money for a total of $4,400.

Bank of America Customer Service

California ATM malfunction on 07/19/2023. Customer Service not available.

BOFA phone customer service ends at 11 pm EST. That is no good for their Pacific coast customers. It's only 8 pm here. Ironic that BOFA started out as a California bank, but now they're throwing CA customers under the bus. I wanted to call to report an ATM machine that malfunctioned at ate my card. THERE IS NO WAY TO DO THIS AFTER 8PM!

Desired outcome: Longer customer service hours.

Bank of America Auto loan

b of a offered me $300 to open a checking account with them and now they couldn't pay me enough to keep the account open. First off, it took over 45 minutes just to withdraw cash from my account inside the bank. They claimed that because it was a new account, everything had to be verified. Okay, understandable but when I tried to deposit my paycheck in the ATM, the message told me that the funds would not be available for 5 days! What?

My auto loan is with b of a and is automatically paid through my chase account on the 20th of each month. I made the payment early last month because my registration was due at the end of the month. I called both B of A and chase bank to stop the automatic payment on the 20th but of course the payment still went through. This left my chase account overdrawn and nsf fees were also charged so I had no choice but to cover the cost. B of A claimed they would refund the payment with a paper check that would go out the same day (06/20) and would take 7-10 days to receive it ( the $ was taken out electronically so why couldn't it be refunded the same way?). On 07/07 (17 days later!) I still hadn't received the refund check. b of a said it was just issued that day on 07/07 and it would take an additional 7-10 days to receive it. It has now been over a month that I've been without the $350. This bank is archaic! Who writes paper checks in this day and age? The post office takes only 1-3 days to process our mail so they have absolutely no excuse for holding my money for so long! As soon as I receive the refund check (sometime this year?) I will definitely close this account. No wonder they're paying people to bank with them!

Desired outcome: This entire ordeal has cost me almost $500! I want to be reimbursed for the bank fees and because i've had to use my credit card to cover basic living expenses, b of a is responsible for the finance charges added to my credit card.

Bank of America Branch at 827 S Cotton Ln, Goodyear, AZ 85338

This bank is flying an American Flag that is tattered and torn as well as completely faded. This flag has been flying for weeks and just recently completely faded. This is unacceptable. You are Bank of AMERICA! I have been a BofA customer for over 40 years and a military veteran of 30 years. I contacted the bank and they said there is one "on order." I don't believe that. I also asked them to take it down. Its far more disrespect than to fly nothing. She explained, we are told we have to "fly something." Completely ridiculous! You can get one on Amazon next day or go buy one at Lowes. I also believe the size they are flying is wrong for that flagpole.

Desired outcome: Take down that distressed flag!

Bank of America Claims /account closures

I was a Bank of America customer for over 5 years recently I was the victim of identity theft , my home was burglarized and a rogue employee was using my debit card without authorization. Each claim was resolved in my favor for they were legitimate claims. Bank of America did not lose any money except they provided a service in which they are paid for. The last claim I had they refused to issue the temporary credit within 10 days instead they took 30 days returned my money and closed my account. I have no ability to give dates time or amounts because they canceled my online access. They had had no just cause for closing my account Are they that Lazy ? Or is it They consider a consumer high risk because they make BOA customers do their job?

Desired outcome: Reopen my account and issue an apology to me for the grief and stress they put me through

Bank of America Edd claim

It has been since 2020 that I have filed my 20,000 claim with Bank of America and I have been waiting ever since e then for a decision. I have sent in every piece of paperwork they've needed. Last week it was discovered that y claim was initially filed wrong by the claims department and was refiled correcty. As well as escalations put in several times for being past the 45 day mark of investgation. So they filed my claim wrong in 2020, and it's been pending since then. Which I believe 3 years is well passed the 45 day mark of claims being processed.

Desired outcome: Give me my 20,000
