I switched to AT&T from another provider in September 25, as part of BJ's/ATT promotion to pay balances on my phones and lines along with a BJ's gift card. BJs gift cards were received in the first 21 days electronically, but I was told the ATT rewards card could only be sent via US mail. I continued to pay bills for both ATT as well as my final bills at T-mobile. I was told by ATT customer service to wait 60 days before I reached out to complain about not receiving the gift cards, (3 of them, for the three phones I upgraded) and they would be reissued. I called again in December 2025 to see if the cards had been reissued, and again was told to wait 14-21 days before asking for another reissue. In the meantime, I went to turn the phones in to the ATT store - I was told that I missed the deadline (60 days) to return the phones, and my payment credits for the new phones on ATT were forfeited. I was told to try and sell my old phones. When checking with the previous provider, the phones were locked due to nonpayment of the bill. The cards finally arrived in late February 2026, (for $634, $415 and $761 respectively for each Iphone to be paid off), and in the meantime, my balance with Tmobile was charged-off and went to collections. I tried to activate the cards in September 2026 but they were expired as of June 2026 for one and july 2026 for the other two. I called ATT rewards to ask for an extension of time to activate, or a reissuance of the cards to finally settle my remaining balance and pay off the old phones and was told no by customer service rewards center staff. One CS did try to rout me to att customer service to see if they would issue a bill credit, but I was put on hold indefinitely.
Claimed loss: three visa debit cards ($634; $415; and $761) totalling $1810
Desired outcome: Reactivation of the rewards cards or new cards issued in those amounts.
