pulled wrong tooth & wants me to pay
I earlier posted that I had gone to Afdent, when it was ASPEN Dental in Goshen near Meijers.
I called and made an appt to have a tooth pulled. Specifically told them which tooth. The day of the appt the dentist asked and once again I told him the last tooth on the bottom right side.
Here is my warning...MAKE SURE YOU HIGHLIGHT/PUT A STICKY NOTE ON THE TOOTH YOU WANT PULLED as these guys can't follow verbal instructions. Also...make sure you speak up if you are not all the way numb.
As I left the office in obvious pain they had the nerve to ask me to pay for the tooth they pulled in error. After a few choice words they went back and spoke to the dentist who said no charge. Once again they are not good at verbal instructions as I just received a bill.

Love the same generic message sent in reference to all complaints. Why not be a little more proactive and contact me direct? Some of my clients that had to work with me this past week have all strongly urged me to contact an attorney and/or someone on the dental board. They have gone as far as looked contact information up for me & have talked to their personal dentists as well. The last thing they want is to see anyone let alone a child go through what I did. Remove the charges from my account...
SJ40 - you sound like you either work for Aspen Dental or another dentist office. Your knowledge/opinions are excellent; however, in my situation the dentist failed on so many levels. The tooth that needed to be pulled wiggled around so much if I could have gotten a good enough grip I could have pulled it out on my own...maybe next time I should just as my dad to get his needle nose pliers out and yank it out. Atleast then the person that hurt me would atleast be compassionate about it. I can forgive someone who hurts me that didn't know, but this guy is suppose to be a professional. Yes, i expected some pain but this was ridiculous. He kept telling me I should be numb when I wasn't due to the infection, which he later advised the infection is really bad and he wasn't sure if he was going to get me numb enough to pull the 2nd tooth. I thought he was simply removing the gauze and accessing the tooth, until he yanked and I just about came out of my seat. As the tears ran down my face he quickly went into action and pumped me full of meds to get me numb. He had his assistant wait with me for awhile and then she went to assist with other patients. I stayed in the chair for quite some time, long enough for the numbness to start wearing off...as the pain came rushing in on me. I tried to do deep breathing to relax, which has always worked in the past even when I gave birth to my son...but nothing helped...i finally had to stop someone walking past and begged them to tell the dentist I need to go home. He came rushing back, took one look at me & quickly realized that tylenol as he predicted early being sufficient was way off...he couldn't write the script fast enough.
Maybe the dentist was new...as I have had other teeth pulled and didn't feel a thing. They always prescribed pain meds which I never had filled and antiobitics. My family physician said to use up the antiobiotics I had at home and if need be to let him know and he'd write me a script.
So Yes tell your doctor if you are not numb...keep telling him over & over before you open your mouth. As far as the doctor should diagnose which tooth needs to be pulled...it's your body and you know your body better than anyone. Simple verbal instructions as to the bottom right side, last tooth is wiggling around and hurting, it was raised up due to the infection. It should have been quite obvious...even without my chart/xrays.
But thanks for your comment...maybe it will help someone else!
My jaw still hurts..,
over charging
We have just received a bill from Aspen Dental for $1402.00 for services that were already paid for through Care Credit months ago. The office manager is now trying to tell my husband that these partials were not covered under the $2766.00 that was put on Care Credit. However both of us distinctively heard the office manager tell us in that initial office visit they were covered under that $2766.00, this was also confirmed to my husband a couple months ago when they called to set up the appointment to have these partials made and he was told by the person at Aspen that yes they were already paid for. So now they say no that they were not, we don't have the funds to pay this $1402.00 bill. These people, we have come to find out are Wolves in Sheeps clothing. We will never use any of their facilities again, we will live in pain until we can find a dentist office with ETHICS to help us instead of ever utilizing Aspen Dental or any other chain Dental office.

rip off and false diagnosis
I visited the Mishawaka, IN location of Aspen Dental because it was the only place that gave me a 'discount' on my dental plan. After a 2 hour HORRIBLE and painful experience getting xrays and the free 'examination', I was told I had 8 cavities and periodontal disease. I have never had a cavity or any dental issues. The final bill for recommended treatment after the 'discount' was going to be $3, 500! I walked out and visited a real dentist. After xrays, cleaning, and exam, I was told I had ZERO cavities and my gums were fine - no periodontal disease or gingivitis. Aspen Dental is a COMPLETE RIP OFF and SCAM! After asking around and sharing my story I have heard of numerous people with the same experience!

service and fraud
I made an appointment as a new patient for my 6 month check-up. We just moved into the Reading area and Aspen Dental accepted our insurance. I sat in the waiting room (the office staff was very friendly) for 20 minutes. Was given a full set up x-rays and then taken to an exam room where I sat for an additional 25 minutes. The dentist came back, looked at my teeth and then told me I needed to see the office manager to set up an appointment for a cleaning. I was shocked! Why else had I just gone to the dentist? Now, my insurance will be billed for an office visit that is not even legitimate and I must take off another day of work to see a legitmate dentist. She also informed me I had a cavity and upon a 2nd consult, this was not true.

tooth extraction/dry socket
I went to Aspen to have a tooth extracted. It was difficult because the tooth was sharp and broken off as the filling had fallen out. I realized it was not healing. I believe he the dentist ( professional) had sewn the inside of my cheek to the gum. After a week of terrible pain, I went back in with dry socket, and infection. She (another dentist) cleaned and packed it, But she would NOT listen to my complaint of how it was stitched. She wanted me back in two days. On Wed. 24th of Mar. (another day from hell, another doctor. Dr. Markovitch!(butcher)! I proceeded to tell him how much pain I was in and he started telling me he was the Dr. and he knew what was wrong...DRY SOCKET! He started to poke around in my mouth (tender and sore and swollen). He asked if he could work on it without novocaine and I said no. He gave me two shots of whatever that did not take! He then went on to dig and clean and stitch when I could feel everything. Seriously I would rather have a baby than go through that pain again. He did not care...I was crying and yelling and he said, " WE have a screamer here!" He was cold, uncaring and rude to me! I was there three times in 9 days and no one could fix the problem because no one would listen...The stitching wouldn't hold because it's wrong. The infection won't go away because the hole won't close, and I am still in a lot of pain! I don't wish this kind of treatment on anybody. So, if you want to be treated like a human being, do NOT go to Aspen Dental!

deep cleaning scam
I went to aspen dental with my "free x-rays and cleaning" coupon...I did get my x-rays, but they said they could *not* clean my teeth because I needed a "deep cleaning" procedure that would cost over $700 (the procedure sounded lengthy and painful, so I never even considered it).
There other costs were very high, so I ended up at another dental office anyways. I was actually stupid enough to let them "fix" one of my teeth...they only did half of a root canal and charged me over $700 for that, and never put a crown or anything on the tooth.
2 months later my daughter who is only 23 years old went to aspen in another city, and they claimed that she could not have her teeth cleaned either...guess what?, she needed the "deep cleaning" procedure at over $700 (funny, she had her teeth cleaned less than a year before that at another regular dental office).
Not only is Aspen Dental overpriced (despite their commercials which make you feel otherwise...they present themselves as "affordable" and definitely are not), but I think they have a scam going for this "deep cleaning" procedure. This is a very lengthy procedure that involves using numbing agents and pulling the gums away from your teeth and scraping the teeth below the gums. I do not believe that many people would need such a procedure and it is just another way that Aspen Dental is trying to rip off the consumer.
DO NOT GO TO ASPEN DENTAL, go anywhere else...but not there.

I had this exact scenario happen in Iowa today.
I went to Aspen Dental 12/5/22 to have my teeth cleaned. The only reason I didn't go to my regular dentist is because I am new to medicare, and I have a dental plan that is only accepted at Aspen and another chain dental practice. (That should have told me something right there!) Guess what?! The same exact thing happened to me! They refused to do a regular cleaning, told me I had periodontal disease, and needed a scaling and root planing. It's funny my dentist of 35 years never mentioned this! They also "discovered" $4500 worth of work I needed! All I wanted was a routine teeth cleaning! This sounded like a racket to me, so I googled it, and am absolutely correct! I just feel sorry for the people that fall for this scam!
I went to Aspen Dental on 4/28/2022 to have a cavity that lost the filling replaced. I was ushered into the dental hygienist and told I needed a deep cleaning. Afterwards I was given an appointment for the cavity. The dentist "Dr" Herbst in St Peters Mo, was sick the day of my appointment so it was rescheduled. During this time I had lost my sense of taste, my gums were burning and my tongue looked like hamburger. The day the dentist was to finally to take care of my cavity I explained my problem to him. He had an immediate angry response and told me he wouldn't treat me! I left but not before speaking with the office manager and getting my records. Now weeks later I get my bill from care credit. Aspen Dental charged me $2180.00 for the deep cleaning. I have a discount dental plan which took care of a portion. I am left owing $1662.80 and still need my cavity filled. What a scam. I'm sure I didn't even need the deep cleaning as I had no issues prior. Aspen Dental knows how to code and bill accordingly to maximize their profit with no care or concerns for the patient. I'm livid I was scammed and will do everything I can to bring this to light so it won't happen to someone else. BEWARE ASPEN DENTAL! BTW, I only went to Aspen Dental because they were closest to me that accepted my discount dental plan. I hold them partially responsible as well for doing business with a company that uses deceptive practices. Just my opinion. Freedom of speech. I grew up trusting my doctor and dentist. Unfortunately that's not the world we live in anymore.
It's a scam when the dentist refuses to pull a tooth unless you agree to thousands of dollars worth of work that can wait till the next visit and I am willing to bet this is ALWAYS the case but what's the problem, right? It's only your money and cost is no object.
When patients have an excessive amount of build-up underneath the gum-line, it's essential that they get what's called Scaling and Root Planing. A regular cleaning can be done, unethically, but it will not help the patient in the long run. Unfortunately, it sounds like you are one of the patients who needs to have the "deep cleaning". It is a deeper cleaning than what a healthy patient would need, and yes, it does cost more. If you choose not to receive appropriate treatment, then there could be more problems in the future, depending. Anyway, don't ignore your health! This isn't a scam just because it is something you haven't heard of before. Plenty of dentists prescribe this type of cleaning. The type of treatment a patient is prescribed depends on what an individual dentist thinks is best.
You get what you pay for...
Today, I went to River City Dental in Roseville. I was told that I can NOT have the 39 dollar cleaning they advertise because I need a DEEP CLEANING procedure costing over 600 dollares. I was at another dentist 2 days earlier getting a white filling to replace the silver one. He said you need a cleaning. It cost 90 dollars. he did talk about a deep claening. He says brush your teeth 3 times a day.
Well, if you think the procedure is a scam just because it is lenghty and supposedly painfull, then all extractions, root canals, sometimes even filling, shpould be scams too. If you have questions about the procedure, have any concerns -- ask the doctor -- they are more than willing to answer all your questions and educate you about your mouth health. Then you would not have to complain here.
Hi Beckie,
I’m sorry to hear that you weren’t satisfied with your recent experience at Aspen Dental.
Please know that it is not uncommon for two (or three) dental care professionals to look at the same patient and offer different treatment recommendations. This does not mean that one professional is right and the other is wrong, rather it is a reflection of what each dentist believes is the best course of treatment for that particular patient. We encourage patients to ask questions of the dentist to fully understand the recommended course of treatment so that they are able to make an informed choice about what is best for them.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss your experience with a member of our patient satisfaction team, please call [protected] or patientservices@aspendent.com.
You are absolutely right, it is not uncommon for different doctors to have different opinions? Is that in your training manual? That is exactly what was said to me yesterday at one of your sham facilities. I happen to know better. I also happen to know that denying health care unless you submit to unnecessary procedures is not only unethical, it's illegal.
inferior work
I got dentures from aspen dental. Foolishly agreed to upgrade my package to the "best" dentures and now I am afraid i'm stuck. Not only do they fit poorly but the doctor doesn't seem to even know how to fix the fit. I'm on my second one and it really isn't any better.

lied to take money
Aspen dental is the worst dentist I've ever been to totally lied to me to get my cash of 2, 000.00 and then did'nt finish the job stayed in pain until I got a new dentist now my smile is a smile Yeah for real dentist check there credentials before doing anything to your mouth like check to see if they have a college degree because if your getting partials they'll be some kind of imitation goop that dries and causes your gum's nothing but pain . There moving into these cities fast like Keizer, Oregon to take peoplesmoney if you go to a Dr.Charles hartman you better have him check your eyes because he does't know anything about teeth!{GUARANTEED}

what a joke of a con job
I went to Aspen Dental for a cleaning. They claimed to be giving free xrays and exam.
When I saw the dentist, she claimed I needed 10 (ten) crowns at $900 per crown. Also, I needed new upper and lower partial dentures, and scaling procedures. I asked if I had any cavities and the dentist replied "I don't see any cavities". I explained that nothing was wrong with my current upper and lower partials. She replied, "they are too old after eight years." I asked what was wrong with the four crowns I already had. She replied, "they have to go". She said my "gums bled" when she examined me. When flossing or brushing, I've never had bleeding. Then I was escorted to the financial person to apply for a loan. What a joke! All I can say is: they prey on gray haired women...DON'T GO THERE, RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN. I hope I escaped by not making another appointment and I did not fill out application for loan. Somehow, I have a feeling they are going to try to get money for xrays, and con job exam that is advertised as free.

unprofessional
I have my share of fillings. Couple of weeks ago one of my fillings became loose and fell out along with part of my tooth. As a regular patient I was hoping to be seen just by the dentist to fix the problem. Since I was due for my cleaning…. (by few weeks) I HAD to have a cleaning appointment FIRST. My appointment was at 3 pm. I arrived there 15 minutes prior. #1, my chart was missing and nowhere to be found. #2, after getting to the office at 2:45pm I was not called in until 4:20pm! #3 I had to have the whole series of x-rays done (not just the broken tooth) to make sure everything was OK, . At that point, I was told that I don’t need just a regular cleaning…. I need the works! This is 4:45 pm. The office closes at 5 pm…. So I wasn’t able to have a cleaning, my tooth was still cracked AND I was told by the dentist that reviewed my x-rays that I need 3 ROOT CANALS! BUT, but the lady in the front will gladly set something up for me. So, it is pass 5 pm already, now I’m stressing over the 3 root canals, as I walk to the friendly lady in the front. Within minutes I had a print out of an estimate for my 3 root canals, BUT since I have insurance I ONLY need to pay a % of it... So, I figure since I’m here might as well schedule my appointment for my root canals.
Well, the dentist that does the root canals is only there 2 days a month AND to secure a spot with her, I need to pay a 50 % deposit to HOLD my spot. So now it’s about 5:20 pm on a Friday night, after working all day, hungry, with my gums cut up from the x-ray film, agitated to no end, and asked to dish out $3000 right then and there, I said I will have to call them back on it. That was the last time I stepped foot in that office.
During my visit I asked the x-ray tech if they were busy, and he actually said that it was a slow evening. I asked the hygienist if they were busy and he confirmed that they had a slow evening, When I mentioned that I was practically falling asleep in the waiting room for 1 ½ hours, all I got was a dumbfounded look and no explanation. When I approached the friendly lady in the front about the 1 ½ hour wait, she did not have an answer for me either.
I am appalled at the service in that office! Unprofessional & unorganized!
Since then, I did contact my insurance company and informed them of a poor choice of a provider.

service
I went in as a new patient for a cleaning. I moved to the area about a year and 1/2 ago and had not yet seen a dentist. I saw my last dentist every six months and had seen him in the month I moved. Aspen was in the network of my dental carrier and location was convienent. They took approximately 25 X-rays and then the dentist reviewed and took a look at my teeth. They said they could not clean my teeth that day, since they claimed I needed a deep cleaning and that they had to do the cleaning in sections. I then met with the "financical counselor" who presented a bill for $3500, after insurance it was $1500. Besides the deep cleaning, they choose to refill all of my fillings, flush out my gums, floride, coating for my gums, etc. After I spent 1/2 hours having her explain all the charges and eliminating them, repeatedly saying all I wanted was a cleaning, I got the bill down to $300 (after insurance). I scheduled the appointments. After considering all the services they tried to get me to do, I decided this was not a business I was going to support and cancelled. I will find a small local dentist without the fancy packaging.

There are two reasons that I decided to get a new dentist. One is that of all the visits for dental work at the Lady Lake office, my file has been misplaced every time. Other patients in the waiting room that were waiting also had their files misplaced also. Not an organized office. The second reason is that my confidence in the dental services at Aspen Dental was always very low due to the stories I heard while living in Cleveland, Ohio, but two times while getting a cleaning I asked if the dentist can look at the tooth they put a crown on because after the permanent crown was put on in the Lady Lake office, I have been having pain on and off in that tooth. The Aspen Dental dentist said nothing looked wrong. About a week ago I went to an emergency appt. with my new dentist elsewhere, and the pain in my tooth was do to an infection in the tooth. I need another root canal on that tooth as well as the one next to it. Aspen Dental did not seem to care about my tooth pain, and the infection in the tooth they put a crown on. Now I get to pay another couple of thousand dollars. Yippee. So I switched. l

failure to discolse information and charged for 1st visit
I went to Aspen dental because I was having a problem with a tooth and I had just joined a benefit plan and they were on the list. It was my first vistit there and and they had a sign in the window free exam and x-rays for new patients. The dentist looked at the tooth in question and took an xray and told me to go to an endodontist. To my shock I was charged $89.00! fo a 3 minute exam. I paid the vist not thinking because I was overwhelmed with the result and being a widow and having no dental insurance I knew this other dentist would be a large bill. However, I went back the next day to inquire as to why I was charged being a new patient . I was told it was because I had only 1 tooth looked at and not the entire mouth. I explained that I was NEVER informed that I could get my entire mouth examined for FREE and I had to pay for ONE tooth. They were more or like "too bad". Had I known, I would have had my entire mouth looked at. No proceedures were done on the tooth. I went to work and found out that my co-worker had the SAME tooth problem as I did, however hers was FREE because she was also a new patient and had her ENTIRE mouth x-rayed. I believe this is blatent "lack of FULL disclosure" and I should be refunded my visit price of $89.00 because had I known I would have opted for the FREE exam and they would have found the problem anyway with the exam. I informed them I would lodge a complain and go to the BBB and corporate office.

I also went to Aspen Dental as a new patient because of the initial exam and xrays being "free", however because I am familiar with Insurance and "hidden fees" upon going in for my first appt, (I Have Dental Insurance) I asked and demanded that the first appt was free...I was told, if you have insurance we bill the insurance company but if you don't than we don't. I demanded that they don't bill the insurance for my initial exam and xrays, or I wouldnt be using them, and they did not bill my insurance or charge me anything. I do think Aspen should disclose this to the customer, due to my reasons as I have a yearly max with my insurance and those "free" charges do apply to the max the insurance covers yearly...! I since have had extractions done and an intermediate denture made and put in...I am on week 6 and am hoping my permanant denture is made better than this intermediate one which from the beginning did and does not line up, and also is way to wide for my mouth, and pallett. Hoping I won't have to come visit this site again and make any complaints.

shady/false charges
I went in for a checkup, i knew i would need the deep cleaning. They did their checkup and told me i needed a full mouth debriment (deep cleaning) a small cavity and a dental guard. The total was 617, they told me that my insurance didn't cover the cavity and only a little of the deep cleaning, i knew the dental guard wasn't covered. So i had all the work done and paid in full my first visit. I had 3 different visits and each time they gave me electric tooth brush (junk) next was some mouth wash, and last was toothpaste, now i was never told i was getting charged for any ot the 3 items. My last visit i was told i owed another 73 dollars that the insurance company didn't cover, so i asked why and i was shown a paper with all the coverages, non-coverages, " in house discounts" and my payments. I saw on the paper i was charged 135 for the toothbrush, 24 for the toothpaste and 24 for the mouth wash. So i said i never was told i was getting charged for these things, i would of never taken them if i knew i was getting charged for them. Also i found out my insurance covered alot more then they told me, another shady business practice. I demanded to get a full refund of these 3 items and they told me they couldn't cause i already used them, i told them that you lied to me and there isn't any paper work that has them on it that i signed. Needless to say they didn't want to refund me the money, so i told them well i am legally right and if you don't refund me the money then i will take legal action. So guess what they said they would refund me the money for the 3 items, which i am still waiting for, but its only been 15 days and my credit card company said wait 30 days then if no credit then they will go after Aspen Dental. But last time i called (last week) and asked about when exactly the credit was done i was told it was put in like 15 days ago, but i was also told i owed another 139 dollars, i laughed. So DO NOT go to aspen dental, they will use shady business practices to make you pay for things you don't want or don't know you are getting. I will get a lawyer if they insist i owe them more money.

Gave 1 start because had no choice.
DO NOT GO THIS PLACE !
Aspen Dental DESTROYED ME PHYSICALLY AND EMOTIONALLY.
And corporate doesn't even care, They need to be shut down.
For 1 year now i have had an infection, was told i had bone loss as i see others have been told.
I live in pain everyday, I was told 3 teeth had to be pulled that there was no other option for me, the doctor ended up pulling 6 of my teeth out, i was devastated i was treated awful in there, it was like being slowly tortured.
I went back with a bad infection the Doctor was so rude and didn't even bother to look at me.
I received bills which i have paid cash for what was supposed to be done (gets even better) when i went there I was told the office manager Mariela was no longer there and she took files and they still wanted me to pay even for work i never wanted or agreed on doing.
Since then and having fear of going to dentist now, I was in so much pain i went to 2 different dentist both told me i have No Bone Loss! One dentist told me Aspen is in the business of selling dentures and that's why they do this, this doctor suggested i get my files and xrays .. So i did and the day i went to pick all xrays and what was left of files I noticed all new staff, the woman at the Desk was trying to sell me to another doctor there (No Thanks) she told me the doctor who destroyed my mouth doesn't work at that office anymore.
Now i need to have surgery where they have to cut my almost 3 inches long do to bone fragments & root that was left in my mouth was also told that the infection i have can not wait and could be very dangerous. I don'thave the money for this surgery and to fix all the damage that was done.
I call corporate spoke to.a woman Julie who told me a woman Tricia would call me back and she never did..
Since i was even received a call back I guess I'm left no choice to take legal action just to fix the mess Aspen Dental did to my mouth.
Aspen does not care about people, all they care about is pulling your teeth out so they can sell you dentures that you don't need.
I cried when other dentist told me those teeth were wrongfully pulled and i have no bone loss like i was told.
I'm glad i have my xrays from Aspen Dental proof.
They have destroyed my face and my life, I still cry everyday over this.
DON'T DO IT!
I have issues with the nerves in my lower jaw getting numb since I had jaw surgery several years ago. The first time I needed a root canal after the surgery, neither my dentist nor I were aware that I wasn't numb and in drilling hit a live nerve. I cannot begin to describe the pain. My dentist was in tears and referred me to an endodontist who took care of my tooth very well. This endodontist has moved her practice to another city and I needed to find a new one. I explained all of this to the dentist at Aspen Dental in Estero and referred me to the endodontist in Ft. Myers. I was told I would have valium plus nitrous oxide to lessen my anxiety. When I was in the chair i experienced some things that caused rather than lessened my anxiety.
1. No nitrous oxide
2. The initial shot of novicain REALLY, REALLY hurt. I told the dentist and she, without compassion said, "It's a shot, it's going to hurt."
3. The second shot hurt as well. I knew my jaw wasn't going numb because I could feel the needle. Once again I was told, "It's a shot, it's going to hurt."
4. When the assistant put the dam on my face my nose was covered and I held it so that I could breath. The dentist told her to fix the dam so that I could breath. I'm no dental assistant or anything close, but isn't it kind of a no brainer that a patient should be able to breath?
5. While testing to see if I was numb enough, the assistant ran the suction hose over the gums under my lower central, lateral and canine incisors, which hurt. I told her to stop because I could still feel pain. Again I was told I was going to feel some pain. I know that suction shouldn't be painful so my anxiety level soared and right as the dentist started drilling I told her to stop and I got out of there like a bat out of hell.
6. My best friend was there to provide transportation. I started to tell her everything that had happened and the assistant tried to defend herself and told me to lower my voice. I told her I'd lower my voice when she stopped talking to me. She left and so did I.
My husband checked our credit card for our refund daily for the next two weeks. On work day I called Aspen to find out what was holding up my refund. I was told it should appear on next months statement. I told her we monitor our CC online daily to protect against ID theft and their credit should have been processed about four days ago. We received the credit within 48 hours.
I did have the work done at the office of an endodontist who is in practice by himself. My advice is to stay away from franchises and go to smaller practices.
I have also had issues with over paying my husband was charged $10 for his visit then when I had my visit a short time later they said I had to pay a bill of $29 before they would see me. I said for what they said my husband still owed $29. Why didn't they tell him that at his visit why are they telling me?
Another time they said my insureance would not cover my cleaning because it had not been 6mo yet they were wrong it had been 6mo and I had to make them pay me back for wbat the insurance did cover.
horrible service
I went to Aspen Dental about two weeks ago for 1 extraction and have never been so upset or in so much pain in my life! I had the procedure on Thursday and by Friday I clearly had dry socket and my "hole" was extremly infected and leaking puss into my mouth like crazy. Im pregnant so I didn't smoke to cause this to myself and Im not really supposed to be taking pain meds but I ended up having to since these people wouldn't help me! I called Saturday and spoke to the man who pulled the tooth and he wouldn't see me because he was 90% sure it couldn't be dry socket and was sure it wasn't infected just claimed it was my sinus leaking. I suffered in terrible pain ALL DAY Saturday and Sunday! Finally Sunday night we tried calling him again and he wouldln't answer his phone nor would he call back the page. I was crying for the last two hours becasue even after taking pain meds the pain was insane and I couldn't even stand to be in my own skin. Finally their lead dentist called back and my husband told her I NEEDED to be seen asap he's never seen me in so much pain and all she had to say what she better stop taking pain meds its bad for the baby (they wrote me the script for the meds mind you) and we can see her tomorrow morning, def not tonight. Can anyone else believe this? I felt so hopeless and knew I couldn't stand the pain and oozing until the next day so I called a local area dentist who saw me in 10 minutes and helped my out with numbing it, cleaning it, and treating me for dry socket! I felt relief after this man worked on me for 10 minutes tops! I coudnll't BELIEVE that a big place like Aspen wouldn't send ONE person in to see me and treat me for dry socket, have they never had this to know who horrible it is especially when you can't take pain meds? Id like to see them go through it thats for sure. So here I am almost two weeks later still in awful pain because my jaw bone is haning out there in the air constantly causing me dry socket pain and as of this morning they told me I will probably have this pain for 4 more weeks because its going to take 4-6 weeks for the gum to close over the bone. I have to just accept it and thats that, be thankful im not in the hospital like some people after extractions. wow really they mess people up so bad at aspen that they have to be hospitalized? How is this place still in operation and not being looked into by higher ups? Im disgusted and want to scream from the roof tops to STAY AWAY from aspen dental, they do not care about their patients and its a sad sad thing going on there.

malpractice, etc.
Aspen Dental not only messed-up my wisdom teeth removal (which put me in the ER). They also repeatedly told me I owed them nothing and then a year after the services I start to get collections calls. It turns out they wanted me to submit a claim to the insurance company, because they would not do it for me. It then took another two months for me to get what I needed from Aspen to submit the claim, Meanwhile, they refused to remove it from the collections so I was repeatedly getting collection calls. As of right now Aspen has not paid for the ER visit, removed the account from Collections, or bothered to offer any compensation for me to submit on their behalf. I would strongly recommend against Aspen Dental, unless you wish to suffer permanent damage to your face.

The short version of my review: If you love your health, teeth, money and your sanity. Do not go here.
Long version:
In January this year I went to Aspen Dental after another dentist detected multiple cavities in my teeth (hadnt gone in 2years. dont do that!). I thought I could get dental care on the cheap by subscribing to some dental plan and then going to Aspen Dental (which is the only place nearby that accepts it).
Well, let me tell you: While the offices look clean and have nice TVs, I am not sure the dentists there actually have real degrees. As a result of my treatment there I have now a cracked tooth in one of my back teeth, which has since needed root canal treatment and a crown - which of course I havent let them do. On my top right I am still experiencing pain. It is driving me nuts. Now it turns out there is one tooth treated by Aspen Dental, where the filling is also extremely deep and now leaking, needing replacement. My endodontist says it may be another cracked tooth.
My new dentist told me that the material they used wasnt correct given the size of the filling and that the filling most likely caused the crack when the material condensed over time.
Apart from that you will be treated like cattle. Dentists barely talk to you and couldnt care less what is going on with you. Although I wouldnt mind that if they would do their job right.
The only thing I would ever get done here again is a cleaning and thats it. I wish I would have invested the money and had avoided the last 5 months of pain (and ongoing).

services and products
They are very unprofessional and I had wrote to the Better Business Bureau about what they did to me. I went in for some crowns and they set me up with getting partials and the service was terrible. They messed up everytime and kept sending me back in for different reasons. The partials took 3 weeks to come in and they didn't fit right. They kept adjusting them and they still didn;t fit right. I had gotten an abses from them and they told me there was nothing they could do, it was my mouths fault that their partials didn't fit correctly. Than they sent me to another Aspen Dental and they redid them after my complaint and those still were made poorly and didn't fit my mouth. piece had broken off and they blamed me, all this had cost me over $5000. I will never go back there again. Their finance person Kevin is rude and made me feel this was all my fault, when they are the professionals (or supposed to me). I was just going along with their advice because they are supposed to know this stuff not me. Worst dental company out there.

Hi! how do we the peoples put a stop to cropration that continue to drag us (meaning customer) through the mud we need to stand up and hit hard right where it count (in there pockets deep then they stop) cause i have been figthing with aspen dental over 1year now about the service i didn't receive! and dentures i did not get(after 1yr. past they finaly gave me the wrong denture and asked me to sign a from saying that i pick them up (that didn't happen i needs a good lawer?
overcharging after insurance payment.
I went to their office a few days ago. They were rude when I would not commit to almost $2000.00 in charges or dentures. They were selling me on financing at 13.90% apr. when I would not sign up ffor these charges, they had me sign a refusal form.
I called my insurance company to find out what they allowed for several services. I found the charges they had quoted me were very inflated, and the insurance told me Aspen cannot charge me over what is allowed for the services they perform.
When I told Aspen I had been overcharged they said it is my responsibility to pay the difference. I tried to tell them I was only responsible for what the insurance agreement says is my responsibility. All the charges were fraudulent. I filed a complaint with my insurance company. I also will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and the Attorney General.

overcharge - possible ins fraud
I made an appointment and went in for a basic tooth cleaning telling them that was the only service I wanted. I had seen them earlier for a couple of fillings and a crown which was basically mediocre work at best, but I have a very busy schedule and most dentist schedules are hard for me to fit into. At that time, I was deluged with a plethora of sales pitches about other products and services that I told them specifically I did not want.
When I got there for my cleaning, I was presented with a bill, before any treatment started and without any initial consult, for $441.50. I was floored by this. They had added additional procedures that I had specifically requested not to have and even added an expensive electric toothbrush to the bill. I said that all I wanted was a basic cleaning and that was all I was going to authorize and pay for. After 15 min of waiting, they presented me a corrected bill of $11.50 which I paid.
I went into the back for my cleaning and the hygienist spends 15 minutes literally browbeating me to accept these additional services, after all, my insurance will pay for most of it. She treated me like an idiot for not taking these services and that they know better. Then she wanted me to sign papers stating that I refused these additional services. Talk about absolute ridiculousness! I kept trying to tell her to just do what I specifically asked for and got to the point where I said, literally, Shut UP and just clean my teeth. I said that if they didn't, that I would just get up and leave. At that point, the dentist in the next work area comes over and joins the browbeating session. I am reclined in the chair and I just about throw my back out getting up. Their comment: "Don't leave with our stuff", I was still wearing the bib and chain!
I go out and demand a copy of the original bill of $441.50 they presented me with and a refund of my $11.50. They did give me the refund, but refused to give me a copy of the original bill saying that it was Aspen Dental property and I had no right to it. HIPA violation here? All through this process, every employee there was extremely rude! And I thought I was the customer!
After I got home, I went on my insurance company website and found out that Aspen Dental, without my authorization ahead of time, had gotten pre-approvals from my insurance company for Root Scaling and their Visilite cancer screening rip-off product. I think that this is called insurance fraud! I will be filing a complaint both with my insurance company and my state's AG.

horrible service and work
Horrible work everything I had done went bad. I am not 3, 000 in debt for a crown with a post that fell out and a filling that went bad. Call them and tell them you are in pain they will give you a appointment in 2 weeks. Pain was so bad went to another dentist he said I had such a abcess it went into my jaw I had just been to aspen for x-rays two days before for my loose crown which the dentist wouldnt' touch all she kept doing was ### about one of my other teeth I needed a root canal in.
My wife and I recently visited a local Aspen Dental (located in Waterford, Connecticut) to see about dentures for both of us. After waiting for over an hour past our appointment times, it took us about one minute to realize that Aspen Dental is a "dental mill". My wife was first to be seen by the dentist, as his assistant sat down to chart, she takes out her pen, then pulls out her iphone and was scrolling around while the dentist was examing her. That was enough for me, or so I thought...then came my turn, I have been told by many dentist that my lower jaw bone will not hold any type of implants (posts) due to bone loss, well guess what the dentist tells me he's gonna do, he's gonna put in posts in my lower jaw bone! That was while he was looking at the x-ray that his assistant took, stating that she DID NOT get my lower jaw bone on the x-ray, but he guessed I had enough bone there to do it! She must have missed the "take a x-ray" app. on her cell phone!
Needless to say, if you pay attention to the manner in which they (or he) presented all the work he would do, all the options they have, etc., etc. it sounds just like a cheesey used car sales pitch.
In conclusion, We are thankfull that we were able to read what others have gone through on this site, and will steer clear of Aspen Dental from now on! Our only hope is that others who are thinking of using Aspen Dental DO THIER HOMEWORK AND REASERCH first.

teeth extractions
I called Aspen Dental 3 days prior to my visit
I explained everything to them over the phone i told them word for word what my visit is going to consist of while i told the lady who answered the phone that i am in dire need of extractions and dentures..
I was set with an appointment i arrived 20 minutes early no one was at the counter there was a sign in sheet and next to the sign in sheet was tons of clipboards that you had to fill out all of your personal information so i grabbed one and i signed in on the time sheet.
I went and had a seat and began filling out my paper work
once i got done i went up to the counter and once again there was no clerk to look over my paper work..
I waited an hour finally i get seen now mind you i have my xrays with me they tell me that they need more than what i brought
so we go in to the room where they take a boat load of xrays
once that was done they escort me to a seat the Dr comes over to me
and takes a look inside my mouth with a small metal hook device and starts tapping on every single tooth and kept saying hmmm hmmmm hmmmm
then preceds to tell me that i need a full denture set for my upper and lower then he gets up and starts writing on his pad of what it is that needs to be done and then tells me to go to the financial office to discuss payment options
i didnt come in to get a full review of my teeth to begin with in the first place i came in there to get the extraction that i told the lady over the phone i made it very clear to the lady what i needed to be done
they tell me that they do not even have a surgeon at there site of location and that there surgeon comes in on the second week of every month
so whats the surgeon doing when someone needs to have surgery
is he in florida sipping on a martini i mean come on
not only was it a complete waste of my time but i lost 4 hours of missing work only to be told that it was going to cost me 6.621 dollars to have what is needed to be done
then they tell me that they have pay plan but you need to have
2 forms of identification with an expiration date on them
i dont have 2 only one and the price to have all my teeth fixed was competely over the limit with my expense
I feel like i was rushed with the xrays seen by some quack
and didnt even give a damn about my personal needs
and only wanted to have the money more than to have a customers trust
Never Never Again Will i go to Aspen Dental
I warned All my friends and family members on how Aspen Dental treats there patients
its not about the patients or customers
Its all about the money and that is sad very sad
And if your credit is bad or shaky they dont want to do business with you

I'm not sure about the other comment, but dude that sucks. Get a second opinion and shop around. Ask friends and coworkers were they go and how long they've been going. But I say pull 'em out yourself, save some money. Then go buy dentures.
Unfortunately PayPal will defend a fraud and scamming charge placed on your card. I am as afraid of PayPal as a cage of roaring hungry lions. Run from them like your hair is on fire ! Before they swollow you up.

Well, if you think that the dentist did something wrong, was unprofessional, extracted a tooth without your concent, then report him to the board. As far as your clients talking to their own dentists, it is unprofessional to judge somebody without knowing the whole situation and all the clinical issues that were present at that moment. And just FYI, I don't work for Aspen.
I’m very sorry to hear about your recent experience at Aspen Dental. We strive to provide all of our patients with high quality denture and dental care service in an atmosphere that is welcoming and respectful, and I apologize that your visit did not meet those expectations!
We have a team of Patient Satisfaction Specialists who would be happy to try to address your specific concerns. This team of specialists is based at our Practice Support Center in Syracuse and can be reached at [protected] or patientservices@aspendent.com.
Usually doctors diagnose which tooth needs to be pulled, not the patients. And, yes, you need to tell doctor if you are not completely numb, otherwise, how are they supposed to know that?
