If you’re considering Amedisys Home Health for a loved one, please read this before you make the same mistake we did.
Our experience with them was consistently disappointing. Visits were rushed, often lasted a fraction of the scheduled time, and many days their therapists refused to work with my uncle at all because he was a “two-person assist” — something they knew from the beginning. Most of the time, staff spent more energy typing notes than providing actual care.
But what shocked us most was how careless and inaccurate their documentation turned out to be. Basic medical details were written down wrong — including the level of his amputation and even the type of diabetes he has. His living space, which is a fully finished in-law suite specifically set up for accessibility, was mischaracterized in a way that was not only misleading but completely detached from reality. Descriptions of his hygiene, daily routines, and support system were equally inaccurate.
When a home-health agency can’t get the most fundamental details right, that’s not a small mistake — it’s a pattern. And when those inaccuracies get repeated, shared, or acted on by others, it can create consequences for families who are already doing everything they can for their loved one.
We trusted Amedisys to provide competent care, attention to detail, and communication. Instead, we got the opposite: rushed visits, inconsistent efforts, and documentation so inaccurate it created problems we never should have had to deal with.
If your loved one is vulnerable, medically complex, or depends on accurate reporting, I strongly recommend choosing a different agency. We will not be using Amedisys again.
