Yes! Communities — Golden rule mhp
the original complaint was made February 1st 2025. It was regarding the sewer backing up into my home. It began April 20th 2024, the day after I bought my home and began moving in. Thankfully, the sewer issue was resolved when I enlisted the help of United Partnership of Plumbing Contractors in July of 2025. They are a charitable organization founded for people who have no way to pay for sewer issues to be fixed. So, it only took 15 months from the time I moved in until my sewer was fixed but that was finally checked off the list. The list is quite lengthy of the things that I was misinformed about when purchasing this home. I was told the flooring was new, I was told there were no structural issues, No pest issues and no damage due to flooding or molding. All of those things turned out to be a lie and I’m not even writing today to address those particular issues. I’d like to address another issue I’ve had from day one, being attaining a storage shed to store my lawnmower. On April 19th 2024 when I gave them a huge sum of money for the home that I live in I was told that I could rent a storage building From Yes community when one becomes available or I could purchase my own, all I’d have to do is turn in a form with a description and picture of the storage that I wanted to get and that it should be made of made of plastic for wood. I began immediately searching for storage buildings only to find that there are none in my price range made of plastic or wood. All of the affordable buildings I could find are made of metal. I turned in an entire presentation with pictures explanations and asked humbly that they reconsider the policy on metal buildings because I would not be able to afford one otherwise. The only shed I could afford at that time was on sale at Wayfair for Mother’s Day. I Made sure to include that information in my presentation because it was illustrating the point I was making about how expensive storage sheds are and that if I didn’t get this one while it was on sale I would miss out. I waited as long as I could but once I didn’t get a reply and I knew the shed Sale was almost over, I called the lady that worked in the front office at that time. I asked her If she had any information on my application for the storage building. She told me she needed to make some phone calls and that she would call me back. When I did hear back from her, she said they were in the middle of making changes in management but she didn’t see any reason why I couldn’t get the shed. I felt comfortable enough with that response that I went ahead and ordered the shed before it went back to its normal price. The shed needed some assembling and once that process had begun the new manager told me it had to come down. I contacted her boss, Victor Acuna, of yes communities to discuss the issue at hand. At that time, he advised that it never came across his desk and that it must have gotten lost during the management changes. I ended up having to sell that shed to try to make my money back and I continued to hunt for something I could afford. Anytime a tenant has moved out and a shed has been left I’ve asked if I could have it because I was told that I would be next on the list, again, that was over a year ago and I’ve been told no every single time on that as well. I asked recently if I could have the storage that’s in the yard behind mine after that tenant had moved out. I was told no because it’s a metal building and it was going to be torn down. It was at that time that Bre, the manager, offered to help me find a shed. I never heard back from her again and the building is still standing feet away from my back door. My neighbor, two doors down, gave me the storage shed that was in his yard. I thought that was going to be the perfect answer to the problem because it was a building that has been here longer than I have so it had already been approved to be on the property so it was brought down to my house and when the manager saw it, she said she didn’t think we would be able to keep it but we never heard another word about it for about two weeks. Then one day a black folder was taped to my front door telling me I had 10 days to comply with getting that storage out of here or they were going to begin legal proceedings. I wanted to know why it was OK for that storage to be on the property two doors down but not next to my house. I was told that they had gotten a hold of the neighbor who gave it to me and told him it had to be torn down and they said that’s why the neighbor gave it to me to make it my problem instead of his. I contacted that neighbor and I asked if that was true and his words were: No, they told me it needed to be painted but I was never told it had to be removed. After some back and forth emails, I agreed to take the shed down but made the comment that I wouldn’t pay for the removal. Victor and his boss visited me at my home that evening, it was Friday. That’s when I was told that I would indeed absorb at least some of the cost of having it removed. I told them I didn’t have the money to have it removed and that if I did have money I would have bought my own shed. They told me they would add the cost to my rent unless I could get someone to come haul it off first. The next morning, Saturday, they already had a couple of people come pick up the pieces and take them away before I had even gotten up. They didn’t give me a chance to get anyone with a with a pickup to haul it off and save myself some money. I got online and went to the Yes Communities web page, logged into the resident portal and found that I owe $240 and since my rent is paid I’m assuming that is for hauling off the shed. There is no invoice though I’m sure there will be in a couple of weeks when I log in to pay my rent again. This was also done to me before, back when they made me pay for the plumber, it was added to my rent and when I paid the rent and not the plumbing bill they sent me a notice saying I didn’t pay my rent and threatened eviction, which is not fair because I paid my rent I just wasn’t going to pay for someone else’s mess that was made in my home before I ever bought it. They decided I was going to pay for it and I did and I’m pretty sure that’s what’s going to happen this time I’m going to have to pay for removal of a building that has been next to my house since before I moved in. Since moving in here I have been harassed about everything under the sun, I’ve had my security cameras literally yanked down from my house by a neighbor. I have been knit picked about everything I do. I understand that since my house is on their property there are certain rules that I must adhere to and I have no problem with that, What I do have a problem with is being bullied, which I have been, to a great extent. Everything to them is about making money, no matter who they may hurt. Victor offered me a deal and said he would purchase a shed for me and finance it zero interest and just add the payments to my rent. That sounded like a wonderful idea at the time but I started thinking about how much trouble I’ve had with this place and how crooked they have been and I changed my mind. The last thing I want is something else they can hold over my head or threaten to take away from me at any time. I’ve been threatened with homelessness more times than anyone ever should be, especially someone who has never been late on rent and tries to play by the rules. I know that there have been class action lawsuits against Yes Communities for similar things and unlawful evictions and other unethical things that they try to get away with. I’m assuming they pay through the nose for the lawyers who write their ironclad contracts But I still don’t see how they can sleep at night knowing the position they put people in on a daily basis. I want nothing more than to get out from under this house and off of yes Community properties and never have to deal with them again in my life. I’d really like it if they would buy my home back so I can take that money and go live somewhere else but as Victor advised before, he would only give me pennies on the dollar for what I paid for it, so at this time I’m in talks with A company who buys unwanted houses and I’m taking a leap of faith that God won’t let me fall into homelessness again. Being homeless is my number one fear as I have lived it twice in my life, but it’s something I could be facing again anyway since I’m constantly threatened with it, and I want to take that threat out of their hands. So, I’m willing to take a huge loss on my home just to get away from yes communities. I’m not one of those people who has ever chosen to be homeless It has been some of the worst memories I have in my life, I would do almost anything to keep from experiencing that ever again. I say almost because I’m not willing to be bullied like this any longer. I will take whatever I can get from my house and that will be the only money I have to go towards finding another place to live. I don’t know how long it’s going to take to find a place to live or how much money yes community is going to try to rape me for on my way out. All I can do is pray that I will have enough money to keep me from living in the streets and never dealing with yes communities again. Over the past 18 months I've been out a tremendous amount of money, suffered physical health problems from mold and mental health issues from being bullied and threatened with homelessness.
Claimed loss: Monies spent on storage shed, plumbing related expenses, debris removal expenses, and things you can't put a price on like security and safety.
Desired outcome: I'd like for Yes Communities to buy my house back from me for the same amount I paid for it and reimburse the money I was charged for the plumber and haul off.
