I had a Wise account for several months as I now live in Europe and my income sources (Social Security and Pension) are in the US. Suddenly without warning Wise cancelled my account but refused to give me a reason why. When I called them their service representative stated that they are not given the reasons for this either and was very sympathetic to me about the unfairness of this. I did file an appeal but received the same reasoning back--they refuse to rell you why your account was cancelled. The customer service is terrible. I read through the customer service agreement and found nothing there that I violated. You cannot speak to anyone in their compliance department. It was very disappointing and poor customer service. Here is the text of their email to me after I appealed:
Hello Theodore Leslie,
We’ve decided to keep your account closed.
Now we’ve completed our checks, we’ll send your refund to the account you indicated during the deactivation procedure.
Your refund should arrive within 2 - 5 business days. However, in some cases, it can take up to 10 business days.
Unfortunately, we can’t tell you the specific reason why we’ve closed your account — this is because of how we’re regulated as a financial institution. You can find out more about how we’re allowed to close accounts in our Customer Agreement with you.
Thanks,
The Wise team
Desired outcome: I would like to have my account reinstated and have the decision to cancel explained in detail
