dishonest
In February I booked a 15:25 flight Barcelona to Santiago de Compostela for Saturday Sept 24, 2011 for two people. Started out as a 9.25 Euro fare but with all the extra's worked out at 163 Euro for 2. Still a little bit cheaper than other airlines but not much. We were on a fight schedule as our long distance bus was scheduled to arrive at the airport at 14:35. In March Vueling advised that they had changed their schedules and we were now in a 14:45 flight. We told them that the 14:45 flight was not acceptable as we could not get there in time due to the bus timetable. We asked them to put us on the next scheduled flight which at 7:25 Sunday morning a much less popular time. This was very inconvenient for us we had to cancel accommodation in Santiago de Compostela organise accommodation in Barcelona and loose half a day of out planned trip in Santiago de Compostela. We asked for some compensation for the inconvenience as well as giving us an alternative time that we could make. We pointed out that if we had wanted to change from the original time then they would charge us, so since they wanted to change the time then they should pay us something. Unbelievably their response was that since the new flight they offered was less than two hours different from what we had originally bought they would charge us 83 Euro each for the seat portion instead of the original 9.25 Euro made up of a change fee and higher price. Simply dishonest when they have made a change to suite them. I cannot find this two hour rule anywhere in the fare conditions. We emailed them back three times, told them we were not going to pay them more money for inconveniencing us. We asked them to refund our money since they had said that they were not going to supply what we original bought and we were not interested in any of the alternatives they offered. They have ignored all of our requests.
We also bought cancellation insurance through them. Strangely the page on their website does not exist, and two emails to the insurance company have been ignored. Probally we cannot claim on the insurance because the insurance company will say that Vueling changing our booking to a time that we cannot make was a deliberate act. Deliberate acts are not covered.
It looks like financial transactions with Vueling only go one way. They will take your money but never give it back even if they cannot or will not deliver.
bad service no refund
Vueling has really bad service and refund policy. As a regelar flyer between Barcelona and Amsterdam Im forced to use a lot of Vueling flights. I know they hardly fly on time so that isn't even a surprise anymore. During the Icelandic ash clouds they couldn't perform 4 flights that I was suposed to take. Not their mistake but, not giving me my money back...

I tried contacting vueling in every way possible to solve the problem but impossible to speak to a living human being!

JAnuary 8, 2012, flight from Valencia to Amsterdam. ticket was refused to to overbooking. Standby ticket was issued. My luggage was checked in, but plane left finally without me. Lugage was returned and as alternative a flight to Madrid, stayover and flight next day to Amsterdam was offered. I refused as there was another direct flight to Amsterdam from another airline leaving 2 hours later and seats were available. They didn't want to pay for that, so I bought it myself. I was given a comlaint form etc. Next day I contacted vueling to at least repay me my ticket price, but to my great surprise they say they have no record of overbooking for that flight although there were a few more passengers affected, who took this fantastic Madrid offer. I took several attempts to claim my ticket price back, but for them the book is closed as they have no record of overbooking blablabla.
For me, NEVER AGAIN vueling, there are better alternatives available
Vueling is the most terrible flight company even worst than TAP Portugal. No professionalism, no costumer care, no information, stealing money. I have wasted all my morning trying to change a flight and the first time I have called they said to me the number I was calling was the wrong one since I was calling from the UK, so they gave me a number which cost is too high to call that my office phone is not even allowed, the number is [protected] . so I have phoned again the +[protected] and they told me that I should have called the number +[protected] (!) which was the one I was in connection to in that exact moment! after wasting more time and money (as this is a number that charges you 0.26 per minute), i finally was in connection with them again to give details of the flight in order to change it and after letting me on hold for 3 minutes the line went off, tried to call again, but it is hopeless. never again with vueling, never! save your money, time and health!
I recently travelled from MAD to BCN with 2 kids in tow and was denied boarding because my Spanish resident card was expired... I offered to show them a scanned fascimile copy of my lodged renewed notice but they refused as only original documents were valid- even though our notary had told me that a scan or photocopy was a perfectly legal document. When I travelled the week before on Iberia doing the same route, the expired DNI was fine, they did not ask to see the renewal paper.
I bought 3 new tickets from Iberia and went to Barcelona that same morning. On the trip back from BCN 2 days later, Vueling first delayed and then cancelled the 12.45pm flight at 11.30am and 80 passengers queued for an hour to be put on different flights. We got the 16.05 flight. I will try to get money back by logging a complaint through the Consumer Affairs board- I can only say that I have had very bad experiences with this airline.
I have made a vow NEVER to travel with vueling. It is an airline that schemes to rip people off as much as they can.
