I am writing to formally express my extremely negative experience with VW Bathgate.
In December, I booked my vehicle (VW Tiguan) due to issues with the automatic gearbox. On the day of my appointment, I was informed that no fault could be found. Despite this, I was still charged £72 for the inspection.
Shortly after leaving the garage, warning lights appeared and the vehicle became undriveable. I was forced to arrange recovery to have the car returned to the garage. Under these circumstances, I find it completely unacceptable that the initial fee was never refunded.
The vehicle then remained in their possession for nearly three weeks. During this time, I repeatedly requested a courtesy car. I was initially told one would be available within two days; however, every time I attended to collect it, I was informed that no vehicles were available. This continued for the entire duration of the repair, causing significant inconvenience.
In March, the same gearbox issue reoccurred, despite having supposedly been repaired by them. When I raised this, they refused to accept responsibility and instead quoted me £777.27 for further repairs.
I subsequently took my vehicle to an independent garage, where the same issue was resolved for £300, raising serious concerns about both the quality and pricing of the service provided by VW Bathgate.
Overall, my experience has been extremely disappointing. The level of service, accountability, and communication fell far below what would reasonably be expected from an authorised dealership. I cannot recommend this garage and will not be returning.
