Usenet.nl has stolen 100 euros from me on 4 different occasions. I recovered my money through paypal... however, I also contacted them at their hotline so that I could get the money from them first. As I never used usenet.nl at all, just downloaded it, then cancelled my account this is considered theft, I did not get anything for the money taken. They would not cooperate even after my multiple threats of calling the police, and me telling them that their operation is fraudulent, theft, HIGHLY IMMORAL etc. They would only say that I am obliged to their contract. Contracts like that are unreasonable and downright ludicrous.

(RANT) All people that operate usenet.nl should be ARRESTED, have 10X the total amount they stole taken from them, then tossed into a LABOUR CAMP until I saw fit. Any scoundrel who thinks (s)he can steal legally deserves to be stolen from way worse.

I paid them one euro to be able to access an acedemic text - by Pay Pal. They sent me a code to unlock. I tried it but my Virus Checker (AVIRA) stopped me and said it was Malware. So I moved on found the article elsewhere - it was not difficult -now two weeks later I have had £89 taken pout of my Pay Pal account. For a service I didn't use, that was Malware, that had no information telling me that this could happen. I feel sick.

I signed up for a 14 day free trial. At the end of this period they took e99.95 from my PayPal account and then, afterwards, informed me they were going to take the money.

These people are very quick to take money and, it appears, very slow to refund.

But i was surprised when I was not able to cancel it, whenever I click on the cancellation it gives me a message saying 'service unavailable' .. And they charged 99 EUR ! where as the lowest subsription is approx 14 EUR.

Usenet makes false promises. They advertise downloads they don't actually have. It took a long time to register and download their software on a dial-up connection! I sent them the following message when cancelling my account:
You promised a download of a certain ebook, so I went through the trouble of registering for a free trial and giving you all my details. But when I went looking for that file I got no search results, but was prompted to register for a completely different service. I consider this a breach of contract. Here's the proof: http://ebookee.org/dl/Indignez-vous-Stephane-Hessel/
I hereby cancel my free trial and wish to hear no more from your company. As this was announced as a free trial I do not allow you to charge any money to my credit card. I sincerely regret giving you all my details. I will post this comment to user forums to alert other people to your conduct and false advertising.

Dear GEC,

we apologize for the inconvenience you had with Usenet.nl.

As an usenet provider, Usenet.nl comes with easy and safe software to enter the worldwide network of the usenet. It is fairly simple to gain access: all you have to do is signing up on our website and you can start. The first 14 days, the so called trial period, are completely for free and you can check out all about our program. As mentioned several times during registration process, as written on our homepage and as stated in the TOS (§ 8, 4), your account has to be cancelled during the trial period if you do not wish full membership.

It is not our intention to give incorrect or untruthful information on our website or hide anything referring to the trial period or the contracts. But it is not our fault if you do not taking the time to carefully read the TOS when signing up. If you had any problems with our service, if there is something you would like to mention or if you have any suggestions on how to improve the transparency on our website, please contact us at response@usenet.nl. We will gladly come back to you.

All the best,
Your Usenet.nl Team

Ripping off people of their hard earned money! They are expecting that people view their email all the time so see the notice extension. for me 7 days is to short. i'm busy with other stuff. there should be no contract with automatic extension clause if not replied. i learned that one important component of a contract is the meeting of minds. in this case the service was extended and i was charged with 99 euros without my consent. why would i agree extending a lousy service in the first place. they are SCAM!

HI,
I have tried everywhere I can think of to contact someone, regarding the criminal practice, vigorously enforced THEFT. by USENET.NL I have emailed many commercial consumer rights groups, including the BBC's watchdog programme of the same name. Starting back in back in 2010, I joined usenet.nl for there 14day free trial, with the option of cancelling my account, or continuing on for a full yrs contract. I opted out as the site was not what I was looking for. Several wks later I received a reminder from usenet.nl, telling me I owe them 99.96 eur. I e-mailed them to check there books, and they would see my cancellation. I didn't hear from them, so I presumed they had rectified the issue. That was until I received another e-mail with yet another reminder!. Who are these people I thought. I thought, perhaps PayPal will have better luck than I. PayPal was the organization I used for my proof of age, and the ability to pay usenet.nl with. PayPal contacted usenet.nl, which resulted in PayPay sending me an e-mail, sating the matter was closed. Great, no more unwanted junk mail. June 2013, a reminder appeared in my inbox. Again I sent an e-mail explaining the end result back in 2010/11. that was in my favor, there reply was another reminder, and then a letter came through the letterbox from usenet.nl's debt collectors, basically saying that they have the right to seize etc, but this time the erroneous bill was 134.##. plus £10 for bank charges in the UK.
At my wits end, I contacted PayPal again, but while PaYPal sail they was going to look into; "this user’s unusual or suspicious activity". They are reluctant, in so far as asking usenet.nl, why they have reversed the decision agreed upon back in 2010!. All ready under medication from my doctor for depression. The tactics they use are to get you in a corner, and bleed you. I have through worry and my depression give in to there, (usenet.nl's) bullyboy tactics. The cost to me now stands at 146.##GBP. The worry dosen't stop there, having paid a bank transfer to the debt collectors, usen.nl contacted me, confirming the payment, and within the same e-mail, they told me my account has now been 'unlocked!, and that my account is due for renewal in 2014.
I just don't know what to do to get my money back, and to make sure at the end of the refund, that usenet.nl, never contacts me again. What would you advise?. Do you/they do the correspondence with all concerned?. I have read dozens of complaints during my brief search for anything related to my complaint, and every one of use have been the victim of what could be a community in itself. I would propose that someone in that community put a website together, called 'netuse.swindlers.', or any title, which gives people who have been swindled from usenet.nl, a chance to work as a group, as opposed to working alone. strength in numbers', would help build our resource's, information to eradicate shady practices prominent in sites like usenet.nl. I want my £145.## back, and I want my name/ account details completely removed from there books
So I would join a community, if anyone put a ite together. Anyone in favor?.

Hi to anyone dealing with usenet.nl don’t they are a fraud!

I was in a hurry trying to get hold of a file for a uni deadline, usually I do my googling with things like this but just rushed this time. The company makes it appear as if you are signing up for a free trial which will then be charged at 8.33 euros / month if you forget to cancel. Actually the charge you the full yearly fee straight up nowhere do you agree to pay a $99 dollar transaction in one hit. It may be hidden somewhere deep inside the fine print, but the information on the payment page and even the faq is very misleading and unclear, and make it sound like it’s 8.33 euros / month. If you have already been RIPPED OFF by usenet.nl DO NOT LET THE FINE PRINT DETER YOU FROM DISPUTING THIS CHARGE. This company is clearly trying their best to mislead and trick customers, and even if the $99 fine is hidden somewhere in the ten pages long fine print this is just not good enough – as a consumer you should not have to conduct and FBI investigation for what appears to be a small 8.33 euro transaction. This company do not deserve your money, so contact your bank and dispute the charge if you can!

It is no point to contacting them, I used the form four times no reply, I tried two email addresses (mediarelations@usenet.nl and response@usenet.nl) supposedly posted by their customer service team on other complaints pages (more likely bots as it’s always the same generic message posted as an answer to all problems) and both emails bounce. Accroding to other people with problems the cancel button doesn't work and you can’t phone them either you just end up in a never ending loop where you don’t get to talk to anyone, and no problem is dealt with! So unless you want to waste stress and money on international calls it’s probably easier dealing with PayPal or your credit card provider. I have seen posts of PayPal refunding this so I repeat do not be deterred by the fine print; you do not want nasty un-ethical people like this to have your money or credit card details.

To top it off the software shows up as malware / virus, and I couldn’t even get the file that the search showed up they had on their servers. So basically they give you a ### service a virus and charge you 99 euros for it while laughing at you!

USENET.NL = ROTTEN EGGS!

Unfortunately I did not check this website beforehand and have fallen victim like the others on this site. I received a warning that they were about to charge my PayPal account, but it came AFTER they had already put the charge through. The clearly have no interest in client satisfaction. They no doubt make the majority of their money on people who are simply trapped into paying the one year fee rather than on renewed subscriptions from happy users. Their excuse that it is in the contract and that it is BUYER BEWARE only underscores that this is their business model. Lastly, they seem to be HQ'd in a small independent legal jurisdiction which probably protects them from legal action.

Fraudulent website. I tried to find academic paper and ended up giving my bank card information. Had to cancel the bank card and order a new one to avoid payments. They even charge 1 € from every call you make to their customer service phone, so don't bother calling, just cancel the subscription from Paypal or cancel your bank card and order a new one.

Do not use this service. Even after cancelling during the trial period and removing my payment options, the company claims to have not received the cancellation and is now sending threatening correspondence asking for an outstanding sum to be settled. Sounds like lots of people have had a similar experience. Terms and conditions are deliberately vague but their legal team seems to think that they can fabricate additional hoops you must jump through to prove cancellation.

On top of all this, software is limited and crashed a number of times (obviously why I cancelled on day 1 of my trial).

Hi, I also unknowingly subscribed to them. I think on the other thread some users suggested that mailing sending them a "contact form" would cancel the membership in a few days. Personally, I didn't want to take the chance. I checked out their address and they seem to operate from Peru, or something...
I contacted my bank and closed down my card altogether. It's not that bad for me since I used my credit card, and my bank can reissue me a new one with different paying information in 5-7 business days. I'd suggest you guys do the same and don't take the chances!

Here in the United States I can use my debit card as a Visa credit card. If I cancel my usenet account within the 14 day period specified and I'm charged regardless, I can contact my bank and have the funds credited to my account whilst the bank initiates an investigation of fraud.

I have also been a victim of this fraud by Usenet.nl My Paypal account was charging me for usenet.nl services which I never agreed for. When I asked Paypal to stop these transactions, they told me that I had to deal directly with usenet.nl because I had a contract with them (or something to that effect). I was being charged in Euros when I had never agreed to purchase any services or subscriptions in any currency.
How can one get his money back? I'm afraid they will continue charging my credit card via Paypal.

When I tried to get Paypal to stop the unauthorized payments and had them investigate, they replied that I had to deal with usenet.nl directly because I was in a contract with them (or something to that effect). i am afraid they are going to continue charging my credit card via Paypal in Euros. I have never agreed or authorized any Service to be charged monthly in Euros.
How can one stop them from taking money from my account a.k.a. robbing me?

Just read the other stories about this "company" that others have written--
I cancelled within the cancellation period and no longer have the card I signed up with. Months later, and I receive a bill in the mail for 110 euros. What? You've got to be kidding me-- why are you billing me when I CANCELLED your service? This is fraud and I will be filing a suit unless you cancel this false debt.

Similar story here
Signed up for a cheap trial and then completely forgot all about it
Used my debit card and luckily it expired during the trial period so had a replacement card issued by my bank
At the end of the trial period (October 2015) they tried taking a years subscription off my card with absolutely no warning
but of course I've got a different card number now so it didn't work
I now have a company called Tesch Inkasso chasing me for payment with letters getting progressively more and more threatening
Ha Like I'm ever going to pay these rip off merchants, bills up to 135 euros so far
I'll keep this thread informed if anything changes

I have had similar problems with Usenet providers Usenext and Usenet NL, trying to charge a years subscription in advance.

As they have not yet provided the service, their legal and debt collectors threats are on very dodgy legal grounds.

The terms and cnditions do state that if you do not cancel, you will be charged for a years service.

However, were it to go to court, they cannot claim they have provided the service, as they have not.

In my case, I got threatening emails, and then snail mails. Mails to them were ignored, so I did the same and ignored theirs.

Usenext has stopped pestering me now, 18 months later.

Usenet NL are still pestering me and I am ignoring them.

I'd love go to court and show that they cannot charge for something they have not provided. It is a contractural scam.

All, wow I wish I found this site earlier - seems like this business is making money off us all in the same way. Here's what I have discovered. You MUST call to cancel your membership and MUST receive a message in writing that it is cancelled. The cancellation online is not possible - but it's set up to make you "think" you've cancelled. I've submitted a dispute to PayPal but based on above sounds like I may get the run around. Will update once I have more info. I know they are HQ in San Marino, Italy - does anyone have a better business bureau or something like that where we can report this? Does that even exist there?

I searched for an e-book and was sent to their site, offering me a free trial. Then I was told that I had a free trial before and my credit-card number was mysteriously filled in in a form where I could choose between two extravagantly expensive subscriptions so I just closed the page.
Seconds later an email arrived, congratulating me with my subscription and €1, - was taken from the prepaid-credit card I used as precaution (more people should do so )
I sent them a mail to complain but reading this all I think I wasted my time.

I was in a hurry to get a book for a class..and was tired..so I wasn't really thinking about scams (I've avoided many..but I just was too exhausted to care)...so I signed up-using paypal (I never put my card info on a site I've never used/dont trust)..and I'm glad I did. I use paypal anytime I see that option. Anyways...after signing up, it asked me to download something...THIS IS WHEN MY ALARM WENT OFF..I stopped not caring. I never use any site that asks me to "download and install an executable file". Biggest mistake people make. The exec file is a PROGRAM. It can screw up your computer any way it sees fit. So I didn't install it (immediate delete)..then went to unsubscribe from the site-because now I was not trusting the site. Couldnt do it. It made all these unnecessary and long list of things to click to get to the last "continue termination"..which was tricky because next to it was "cancel termination" (you go through this like 4 times -and they switch places so you might accidentally cancel termination and have to start over-did it once)..and I was already really pissed. anyways, got to the last page, and it was asking me to make a call..really pissed off now. It was too late to call then, so I called the next day..got a "your calling out of bizz hours" bs -they still had 20 minutes before closing time...so that was already even more alarming..I just tried to stay calm. today, I finally got the time to call -they gave this bs excuse of "you will have to wait 10 min cuz we're busy" excuse and hung up on me! THATS WHEN i knew beyond a doubt that they were fcking with me. I googled, and bam. People are saying its fraudulent, and how you can use paypal to cancel subscription...but I couldnt remember if I used paypal (like I said..I was exhausted)..I signed into paypal and followed the steps and noticed usenet.nl on my payment area...and cancelled the subscription. Phew.

I to am a victim of Usenet. I canceled their subscription with PayPal on day one because their service is horrible.Waste of time signing up. Couple months later I got an email from them saying that I owe them $99 because the subscription was not canceled. I sent them a copy of the cancellation letter from PayPal that stats that all agreements with Usenet have been canceled. That was a confirmation for me that the subscription was canceled because any subscriptions I have/had with PayPal, I canceled them through PayPal. Anyway... another month passes and I get a written letter from TESCHINKASSO, some German Collection Agency apparently and it states the following:

Dear Paul,

This is to notify that Usenet.nl S.r.l., 47895 Domagnano, has commissioned us with the collecting of overdue claims.

Following the documents submitted by us, our client has honored his contractual obligations with respect to you. Our client has duly performed his services and furnished you with his statement of account.

Unfortunately, you have not carried out the complete settlement of the outstanding balance in spite of repeated reminders from out client. You are already considerably in delay of payment.

So now I have to pay 165 EUR. This ridiculous, they scam people into PayPal subscriptions and when you cancel it with PayPal it's not enough. The Collection Agency also threatened me that if I do not make a payment by a specific date, legal actions will be taken. Can someone please response who had a similar case and if they actually went after you with a lawyer or is it another scam that the company introduced?

Literally the exact same thing happened to me. I canceled through PayPal, and I had to pay 165 euros. I have severe anxiety so this has all been a very traumatic event for me. Once I received the debt collection letters in the mail, I consulted a lawyer who then advised me to pay because the bill was considrerd small. He doubted that they would ever cross the seas to come after me for such a small amount, but there were no guarantees. I have searched the interney for months anf not one court case involving an unpaid debt has been reported. Some have gone on years without paying. And some have sued usenet and have one millions of dollars. The desicsion to risk it or go ahead and pay is up to you.

My experience is similar to the above. I had a recurring annual payment to UseNext via PayPal, which I cancelled. Afterwards, they withdrew my access, as I expected. After a month or so, I decided I wanted to access their service after all so I opened another account and paid for a year's subscription. Now they are demanding ANOTHER year's money for the original account which I cancelled, and keep on adding legal costs etc. I don't think they have the slightest intention of suing me though, as they keep extending their so-called deadlines. It is now over seven months since their first demand. They can keep sending reminders and threats for years for all I care; they will not get another penny from me. I have paid for a year's service and I refuse to pay double to this bunch of shysters. Clearly a dodgy company and best avoided.

I cancelled my 14 day Trail period on the day i subscribed to the trail!

They need took £99 off my account, for a subscription i did not authorize!

Where else can i post this on, so that we can get this website removed!

There threats seem to continue with me for unpaid subscriptions, charged in advance, even when they have placed my account on hold! I started the trial, installed the software, found it didn't do what I wanted, uninstalled the software and thoroughly checked my machine for leftovers? That seemed to do the trick, sent form filled out to cancel contract well before the end of the trial, then went with someone else.
Now they want £70 plus costs, well after reading here, then now way. I shall report this to paypal, but not sure they will do anything.
Like everyone else has said, stay stay stay well away from this company! if this what it is, it has a reputation for effective theft, demanding money for something that has not been provided or 12 months in advance. If they want to improve then I would suggest they change their pricing structure and refunded without any arguing.
