In 2012 we purchased a 1 year membership from Thousand Trails. Unfortunately due to a sudden onset of ill heath we were only able to use the membership twice. So when the renewal date came up we cancelled our membership and did not renew. Now it is 2015 and Thousand Trails is claiming we now owe them almost $1200 in back dues and fees for the years 2013 and 2014 and they are threatening us with legal action! How can a company bill you for a membership that was cancelled, not renewed and never used or was able to be used? Someone needs to look into these crooks!

My membership was canceled by some rude woman in customer service And I have been a member since 1993 I paid $10, 000 for my membership and it was paid for totally in full
I lost my job in 2013 started getting calls that I need to pay my dues that woman in customer service called me every name under the sun deadbeat lowlife for not paying my bills all I owed was dues
I agreed to pay $100 a week until I caught up but she would not go for it she wanted the full payment and if she didn’t receive full payment she was going to cancel my membership
Well she did and I can’t get it back that sure does suck

I wish it was that easy to terminate membership. We have been paying extortion to them for decades.

Hi Jim,

not sure if you'll get this, but here goes:

We 1st called TT to cancel our membership in 2020. We were informed we must cancel by letter, which we did. Our bad, we didn't make a copy. All of a sudden last month, they popped up (someone named Holly Blue) and are now claiming we owe dues for 2 years! They say they never received a letter and when we try and talk with them, they hung up on us twice, saying we will be turned over to a collection agency. The 3rd call informed us a

manager would call us back. That was two weeks ago.

Any advice on how you handled things? We are at a loss.

Thank you,

Tom and Linda

I am having a similar issue. They told me to send them a cancellation letter, and now we are receiving bills for the next year even though we cancelled. I have send another letter reiterating that we cancelled, to stop billing us, and to no avail. Did you have any success? I do not tolerate this kind of business strategy, which is essentially theft. If I do not get a resolution soon, it will be off to the BBB, an attorney, and perhaps file a complaint with the Texas state AG. I own a video production company, so if I get really determined, I may make a fairly long video on this. I am not sure if that is necessary. I am hoping that this can be handled without the hassle, but reading the comments in on this site, I suspect that Thousand Trails may live to hassle customers.

I am now in that phase where I cannot get a clear answer from them. I got someone on an email chain...once...and they will not reply to my inquiries. I asked to schedule a specific time tomorrow to talk to someone of authority, but I haven't received a reply. They called my mobile number at a random time last night, but considering where I live and what I do, random calls do not work. The phone number they left was a bit garbled. I have a copy of the three letters, emails, and whatnot. I suspect the next step is an attorney. This is crazy. All I want to do is cancel my annual (4-year), which according to their instructions, I did back in February. If I knew it was this bad, I would have never signed on for their service. At times, I feel like I want to do a full series of videos on this experience. I would prefer not. I keep hoping that this is a misunderstanding, but reading all the complaints within this site, I suspect I may have fallen for a trap.
