Texas Direct Auto False Advertisement

I'm currently in Iraq working for the army in support of OIF. I bought a 2006 F-150 that I found on EBAY from this dealership. I needed a vehicle for when i came in on leave to carry my kids on vacation. I had the vehicle shipped to my mothers home through their delivery service because they offered a buy back guarantee with it. When it finally made it there, it was in such bad shape mechanically that it could barely be driven to the dealership to be inspected. Long story short. They advertised the truck to be in excellent mechanical condition, a one owner with 30k miles. The ford dealership found that the transfer case was shot, the rear shocks were leaking and shot, the transmission wouldn't go into overdrive and it was making a knocking coming from the driveline somewhere. I'm currently working on getting it back to them, but they are giving me a really hard time about returning it on that so called buy back guarantee. I have to pay to have it shipped back to them and then they will inspect it and consider whether or not to return my 25k dollars that I payed for the vehicle. THIS DEALERSHIP IS A SCAM. THEY LIE ABOUT THE CONDITION OF THE VEHICLES AND FALSELY ADVERTISE THEIR CONDITION. DON'T BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM.

On October 28, 2010, I and my husband went to Texas Auto Direct in Stafford, Texas to purchase 2005 Hummer H2. We saw the Hummer H2 online at Ebay and we called Texas Direct Auto and spoke with salesman Mr. Darren Deshay and we expressed our interested in this vehicle. We were told by Mr. Deshay in order to reserve this vehicle, we would have to put a $ 500.00 deposit down to hold this vehicle. He also stated that we were not happy with the vehicle or it did not agree as advertised on Ebay we would receive our $ 500.00 deposit back. We agree to the $ 500.00 deposit and the vehicle matching the advertisement stated online. The $ 500.00 was paid with our debit card on Saturday, October 23, 2010.

My husband and I went (October 28, 2010) We waited at the dealership for 30 minutes before the Hummer H2 was brought to us for a test drive and to inspect it. Upon inspecting the vehicle, we noticed several things wrong with this vehicle. Listed below are some of the things we noticed wrong on the vehicle.

§ driver side door panel had a two holes in it

§ three cigarette lighters were missing

§ oil on the engine

§ white paint stains on the outside of the vehicle

§ vehicle not cleaned

§ missing a side panel on the side walls of the vehicle

§ and many other areas that needed to be address

We feel Mr. Deshay was very untruthful about the Hummer H2 listed online at Ebay. He lied to us over the telephone about the Hummer H2. He just wanted to make a sell and receives our money for this vehicle. This is false advertisement! we do not receive our deposit .we will be going online telling others customers about this company false advertisement and to beware of this company. We are very disappointed in this incident and I DO NOT want Texas Auto Direct to repair this vehicle for us. We have lost ALL trust and faith with this company and all we want from Texas Auto Direct is our deposit for the amount of $ 500.00.

The Manager and the Salesman were very rude and we would hope they do not treat other customers in this manner. My husband and I DO NOT want to do business with a company that is dishonest, scam and disrespect to their customers. We Want everbody be aware they are NOT TO BE TRUST...

Thanks to everybody on this site, I had 7 cars on my watchlist(not cheap ones
either) from Texas Direct. I might not believe a couple of people with buyers
remorse but that many complaints to the BBB and none to EBAY does not Compute. Deleted Texas- Direct. Keeping Motor-Trends, and E-Carone

I was wondering the same thing about those 100 percent satisfied customers. I have purchased 2 cars from Texas Direct. The first was an Infinity G-35 . It is a nice car and looks really good. The funny part is when you buy a car from Texas Direct you will get a car that is painted over with no prep done on the car. When you wash it a few times the paint will come off and you will see the condition of the real car you purchased.
The second vehicle I purchased is a 2004 Hummer. Looks great, the salesman comes out and tells me the Dvd player is not working, He has the service dept take it out and says they will ship it in a few days. I get one that is half the size needed to cover the original hole that was left from the first dvd player. Its now 6 weeks later and I still have no replacement of a cheap [censor] dvd player. You cant hardly even get anyone on the line to help you with your problem or a return phone call is out of the question.
I guess I will be the next one to complain with the BBB and never again.. You do save money but boy you better have a mechanic with you when you do. And yes this one was also painted under the fender wells and undercariage.And yes it was extremly dirty when I got it and I even showed the salesman and he said it must have been missed . not [censor]..

I just purchased an 07 Escalade from Texas Direct and it could not have gone smoother. Found it on E-Bay. Called, made the deal and flew from Florida to Houston to drive it back. They picked me up at the airport right on time. Went to dealership and vehicle was perfect in every way. They insisted I test drive it before I signed all the paper work. All went very well.. They were professional and a true pleasure to deal with. Would have no problem buying from them again.

Texas Direct Auto Added fees

Can't really call this a complaint as I got the deal of the century on a Mercedes. There is a fee called a VIT, or vehicle inventory tax, that must be paid by the dealership every month. The more cars they have on the lot, the more tax they owe. It is not required by Texas Law that the customer pay this fee at closing although many dealerships pass it on without much customer knowledge. I brought it up at closing and they told me it was required. I balked and they said it may not be required by law but they charge for it, end of story. I got the car so cheap (10K under loan value) it was not worth haggling over the minimal amount. I also had an inspector look over the car thoroughly after I test drove it. I still have it and it is humming along like a Merc should.

Texas Direct Auto Selling unsafe cars

Was sold a car that they inspected and passed all there inspections, when I got the car home took it to a Nissian dealership to get the oil change and was told the car had been in salt water and was completely rusted underneath and was UNSAFE to even drive. Took the car back and they were so rude and disrespectable, told me that I put my child in a unsafe car not them, I couldn't beleive my ears at some of the things they told me, they did give me a refund I only think so because I had the paper from the Nissian dealership stating that the car was unsafe, I would never buy another car from them and I see why they have a "F" rating with the BBB

Texas Direct Auto Poor Service Poor Company

I went to Texas Direct Auto to look for a truck. I saw the listings online and thought that they had what looked like good vehicles at good prices. When I got there, I was totally taken back by several things.

First of all, they actually have a wait in order to get some order taker to help you. I thought that this was strange, but I decided to stay anyway. About 10 minutes later, an order taker came up to us and introduced himself. He asked us what stock numbers we were interested in. The order takers over there have no idea what is on their lot or where anything on the lot is so the customer has to look up stock numbers on one of several computers around the store. We did this and gave the order taker our choices.

The old adage that a picture is worth a thousand words is not true at this joint. A picture is worth a thousand lies here. One truck we saw was so beat up I have no idea how they got the pictures to look as good as they did. The second truck smelled like paint or paint thinner. We actually drove this one, a Tundra, and the thing was a piece of crap. I do not know how anyone can tear a truck up mechanically as bad as the previous owner did while driving it only 40, 000 miles, but they managed. The third truck we looked at was a Dodge with a Hemi in it. I could barely keep the thing on the road during the test drive because the front end was out of alignment so badly. I can not believe that the dealership actually allows their customers to drive such an unsafe automobile. The fourth truck was in such bad condition that when we put the key in the door to unlock it, the door would not unlock because the mechanism was broken.

I finally found a truck that was in good shape. It was an 09 F150 with only 6, 000 miles on it, so there really was not that much time for the truck to be broken hence it was a good truck. We get in it and it is so empty that I did not even get it out of the parking lot when it ran out of gas. Since it was basically a new truck, I decided to go in and deal the order taker on that truck.

Now is when it really gets funny. The order taker told us that in order for him to even run our credit, we would have to make a deposit of $500.00. If we changed our minds about buying the truck or were not approved for credit, Texas Direct Auto would keep the $500.00 deposit. I had never heard of such a thing. I told the order taker that he was crazy and walked out of the dealership.

I use the term order taker because with the lack of service that they provide, these people are not sales people.

I would not recommend that anyone ever visit that dealership. This place sells substandard vehicles that they try and pass off as cream of the crop inventory. I only hope that people in general get smart and learn to avoid these no good snakes in the grass so the place can go out of business!

I really feel sorry for those who buy online over Ebay only to get their car and realize that they bought a piece of junk! I have no idea how these people keep a 100 percent positive feedback rating on Ebay. They are the worst of the worst in the car business.

If you take in the numbers that Texas Direct Auto sells, and the number of complaints they are doing a good job offering consumers a way to shop from a safe environment . The reason most companies have complaints is from growing to fast as they did. I'm sure all the complaints have more than there share of merit, but they have made history in the auto industry. It is only a matter of time before corporate america gets on board. The owners have written the blue prints to show them how to make it happen. So as they work out ways to do away with the complaints you will find yourself buying vehicles online in the future.

I also feel this company Is terrible. I am presently looking at buying a used truck through e-bay . I have presently found on numerous
occasions 1's that I like at Texas Direct . I am living in Canada so getting to look at the vehicle is not an option for me . Under many circumstances
I have left e-mail's (both dealer & salesman directly) & to this day I have not even received a call or e-mail back. What kind of business runs
like that . Yes the pics look awesome & from what I see they look to very clean vehicles . But as I read stories they are not what they are in reality.
Yes I will continue to look at the pretty pic's, but will NEVER try to purchase 1 of there rides thanks to the stories & the lack of salesman's feedback.

Texas Direct Auto POS Truck

Words can not describe my terrible experience with this company. I found them through e-bay but think I purchased with them directly. "Beautiful truck, never been in a wreck, just puffing it up and we will send it your way" The truck arrived late and the thing would barely move, the transmission was shot. I brought it to my mechanic to confirm and he also pointed out the collison damage as well. So they sent me out another transmission and is was a piece of ### as well. So not only did I have to pay to put in and take out the "new transmission" that they sent, I had to pay to have it yanked out again and rebuilt. In the meantime I had my guy replace the manifold gasket, the radiator (damaged from the collision), fix the AC which did not work and install new brakes. She was a cream puff alright, the kind you see in the toilet after drinking tap water in Mexico. Then, to top it off they actually called me a few months later to try and sell me an extended warranty!

Two lessons learned; 1. Don't trust Texas Direct Auto. 2. Don't buy a vehical on line period! If you really think it is great, spend the money to fly out and review it yourself.

By the way, you cannot get any compensation for the ### they sell you if you think that you got a bad deal. "Used" is just that, I should have checked it out before I bought it. I hate telling people I told you so. Believe me when I said that I ate some crow, my wife still gives me a hard time about that decision I made. Besides, do you really want anything from Texas?

Actually, most of the cars they sell come from auctions up north. That is why there is so much rust damage on them. I hate the dealership as well, but they do not represent the way that we generally do things here in Texas.

Their automobiles are pieces of junk though.

Texas Direct Auto Scam Artists

I have been dealing with Texas Direct Auto for the past 5 weeks. I was purchasing a Lincoln MKX for my wife and a Range Rover for myself. I had contacted salesman Jimmy Gloff through EBAY, where the car was listed, and told him that I was interested in the Lincoln. He immediately pulled the listing from EBAY and told me to deal directly with him. I later found out that this is so you can't file any complaints with EBAY.
He told me to send him a $500 non refundable deposit to hold the car before financing had even begun. I refused to do so and the next day he told me that financing was approved. I then sent him $1, 300 to cover the $500 deposit and $800 for shipping. The following day I told him that I wanted to purchase a Range Rover for myself. Once again he wanted the $500 deposit without financing approval. I explained once again that I wanted financing before I send any money. The next day Mike Tooley, from the financing department, called me to say that I was approved on the Range Rover. I then sent them $1, 300 for the deposit and financing.
They sent all paperwork for financing and warranties. I signed everything and sent two cashier's checks totaling $14, 000. On November 9, 2009 I was told that the cars would be shipping out and that delivery would be in about 7 days. Several days went by and I never heard anything from them. I called and left messages for Jimmy Gloff (Salesman), Mike Tooley (Financing), Gary Maze (Sales Manager), and Todd Yarborough (Financing Director) without response from anyone.
When I did finally get in touch with someone they just pushed me off to someone else and said that it wasn't their problem. I was then again told that my cars were shipping prior to Thanksgiving and would be there so that I could drive them on my 7 hour trip. The cars failed to show up again and I finally got in touch with Mike Tooley. He said that something has happened and that Capital One wanted to see my tax returns since I was 1099. I explained to Mike Tooley that I was 1099 weeks ago and found it strange that nobody wanted proof of income. Mike told me that once he had that the cars would be released in a day. I sent that over and got no response for days again. When I did get in touch with Mike the financing company now wanted 3 months of bank statements. No problem he told me, would be resolved in a day.
It is now December 4th and I have no resolution and no response. I have left several messages with Todd Yarborough, Gary Maze, and Mike Tooley. Gary Maze, the sales manager, told me that this was not his responsibility as he just did sales. It's now been over a month since this all started and I sent them close to $17, 000.
They also would not ship the Lincoln MKX even though there were no issues for the financing. Even though I paid separate $800 fees for shipping they wanted to wait until both cars were ready to save themselves money.

This company is the most unorganized bunch of crooks I have ever dealt with. Nobody will step up and take responsibility and just push it off to the next person. This company should be shut down. No telling how many financing laws they have broken during this process.

I've had friends that have been screwed over by car dealers and hiring an attorney definitely helps. They might be willing to work on a contingent fee, in which case they don't get paid unless they can recover for you. I think this lawyer is just trying to help. Hiring him or her might get better results than just chatting about the problem.

Maybe he is related to the owner of Texas Direct Auto? If so, maybe he will take your money to sue them, but always loses, so you are out your car and your attorney's fees?

He really should start a class action lawsuit against these guys.

PS: Just joking about the first couple of statements. Dont want to get sued for libel.

Texas Direct Auto - Fraud and scam

I purchased a car on Ebay, but actually not thru Ebay. I found the car on Ebay, and called Texas Direct Auto for details. After the salesman was extremely curious and helpful, I decided to give them a deposit and they took $800.00 off the price to do the transaction outside of Ebay. Mistake!!! I was emailed the paperwork and everything from the bankdraft on...

Texas Direct Auto Fraudulent charges

I found a 2007 yukon on ebay. It was listed by Texas Direct Auto, the car looked awesome in the pictures, and the wording stated 'Perfect example of a one owner Yukon!' called them to see what the best deal on the vehicle would be.. Chris McClelland stated that the car was a buy it now for $23, 900.00. But if I wanted it he could let it go for the reserve which was $23, 700.00. I asked him if he had seen the vehicle or if he was at all familiar with it? He stated that Yes, he was familiar with it and it was the cleanest Yukon they had ever offered, and the pictures don't do it justice! And the pictures made the car look brand new... Reluctantly I gave them a $500.00 deposit and was scheduled to see the car and finalize the paperwork in 2 days. My 1st impression of the vehicle when I saw it was (someone is pulling my leg), There is no way this is the same car. it had horrible swirl marks from over buffing, the mirrors didn't match, the DVD system was broken and the screen was cracked, all the plasic trim pieces around the seats where broken and cracked, the back up sensors didn't work, on the left side of the car the Y form the word Yukon was missing, the rear bumper was cracked and scratched, the interior was filthy and stunk bad! and the rear seat screw covers where missing... I brought this to there attention before even test driving the car! They said do you want it or not! I said NO! they said 'well than have a nice day!' We will relist it. I said fine how do i get my deposit back? The manager Gary said 'we only give refunds on deposits if we misrepresent the car. I said and you don't think this is misrepresention? He said No! we consider misrepresentation if we tell you the car is black and it is really blue or red! I asked to speak with the owner or someone higher, He said he is as high as it goes and no refund... I called and attorney and they said it would cost me more money than it was worth... I just learned an expensive lesson... Don't ever give anyone a deposit sight unseen. Please beware of these ripoff artists, They know how to manipulate the system to get more money for these crappy cars than they are worth...

File a complaint with the Texas Attny General's office. Trust me, our voices are being heard. WE need to file more complaints though to get enough attention and make this a priority to them.

I have purchased several vehicles from Texas Direct and their deals cannot be touched by other dealers. They sell the exact same vehicles you can buy anywhere only they don't mark them up like 5 grand. When you buy a used car, and I have bought many, there are always some risks involved. Used things break, hell new things sometimes break. I would much rather save the 5 grand or so than buy the same car for a lot more somewhere else.

Thank god I found this site today. I was planning a road trip to Houston on Sat 1/30/2010 to see the 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500.

From what I have read on this site I would have been one pissed off person to get there and see a POS Truck. I just don't understand how a company like this doesn't get shut down for stuff like this.

I'm local to them and I've tried to purchase from them 4 times over the past year or so. 1st attempt was a Hummer H2. Showed up and it was extremely dirty, bald tires, , large scrape down the passenger side (across both doors), needed an alignment badly and just in general didn't look like it had been washed in several months. Pictures online showed nice, shiny paint, etc. No way did this vehicle get that dirty just sitting on their lot and being test driven. I just chalked it up to a isolated case because their feedback on ebay is fine. Surely this can't be the "norm".

2nd attempt was a Ford Expedition. Scheduled an appointment. Waited around for 45 minutes only to be told they couldn't find the car. I called back for 3 days straight and they never could put their hands on the vehicle. Strike 2...

3rd attempt was a Lincoln Navigator. Again scheduled an appointment. Showed up and waited around for 45 minutes. The car was buried in a line of cars 4 or 5 deep. They couldn't even find the keys. The car was full of door dings which were not in the online pictures. Again, bald tires when online showed much more tread. Fortunately, the car was unlocked so I was able to look inside. The headliner was hanging down and the motor for the sunroof was missing. The drivers side seat controls were also missing. Apparently they were "borrowing parts" off it it for another vehicle.

After all that, I purchased an H2 from another local dealer. Car is great, but I want something more practical and a little cheaper now so I started looking again.

4th attempt was Tuesday, Jan 20 2010. 2005 Expedition Eddie Bauer. Pictures look great and the price was right but I knew that I wasn't going to risk buying sight unseen so I setup an appointment to go see it. Paint was probably the worst I've ever seen. Lots of chips, and scrapes. Again, a large (1-inch wide) scrape across both passenger doors. Interior photos were doctored up as well. Lots of blemishes to the interior trim pieces. Windshield had a long (3ft.) crack and bald tires again. it was packed in pretty tight so I just took it for a test drive and checked it out in a different parking lot. I should have checked it out more thoroughly before wasting my time... I waited for about 20 minutes after the test drive to talk to the salesman but he never came out. I even pulled up the pictures on their in house computer and the clearly had been photoshopped or they were just of another similar vehicle. I get the feeling they just use stock photos. They get to many similar vehicles through there that they must have a huge catalog of every make/model/color combo out there...

I'm crossing them off the list completely from here on out. Not worth the hassle. I'm sure they have a decent vehicle here and there but I don’t' support their tactics. I'd be pissed if I had to travel any real distance and ran into these situations.

Stay away is my advice...

Holy smokes. I was looking at a black 335i 2007 that has a good price. I remember seeing the exact same car listed a few months ago and thought, wow what a deal. Well, I see the exact car newly listed on ebay and autotrader. I read about too many complaints and I've concluded that it's not worth it to buy fromt his company. They lost a potential buyer. Thanks to everyone who took time to inform me.

I wrote them a message on ebay asking about a deal on a 2006 Ford Mustang, so JARRELL COOPER messaged me back telling me to call him to work out a deal. I made a deposit over the phone. Me not knowing ebay rules that well, I could not be protected by ebay since I made the deposit over the phone and not online on ebay, which I think should not matter since I got the car off of ebay. Anyways, I flew to Houston to be picked up the car. I told JARRELL COOPER when i was coming and he told me that they would be there to pick me up. I gave him all of my flight info and he told me to call as soon as I land because they would be waiting outside for me. I called him when I landed. Then again 10 more times, while leaving numerous messages. He finally called me back 3 hours later. When I got there, he said he did not know I was coming and the car was not ready. 5HOURS later, he brings the car out to me, not clean and on empty. So, I been in Texas for 8 hours because they care so little about there consumers.

A week passed and they sent me the title, which I was told was clear. It had a lien on it and I can not have it registered. SO, I called up there about 30 times in a week and they have directed me to 5 different people, I left messages for each person at least 5 times. No one called me back at all. I emailed and left messages for jarrell and no response. This business is horrible.

Texas Direct Auto Stole $500.00 For car never accepted.

I saw a car on ebay and it was a great deal! or so I thought! In the pictures the car was extremely clean and looked like brand new! The description stated "Perfect Example of a one owner Yukon"... I gave them the $500.00 deposit they requestesd to end the auction, and scheduled to come and finish the paperwork and testdrive the car. My first impreassion of the car was, Your kidding right! The car was in horrible shape, all sorts of damages and such. Examples: the paint was in bad shape, it had swirl marks all over it, like it had benn over buffed, the mirrors didn't match, all the plastic inside the car was cracked and broken, rear bumper was cracked, backup sensors didn't work, Y on the leftside of the car was missing from the word Yukon, DVD system was cracked and not working, seat arm screw covers missing, and lots more... I told them I didn't want tyhe car as they had fooled me with the pictures, and they stated they hadn't and they wouldn't give me a refund. Anyways the story goes on and on... Just beware of these guys as the are seasoned scam artist who know how to manipulate the system and sell crappy cars for more than they are worth. Thanks

Always get it in writing what a salesman tell you. ie deposit is refundable. Normally a deposit is not refundable unless a buyer is lied to. Take them to small claims court.

Texas Direct Auto

On October 28, 2010, I and my husband went to Texas Auto Direct in Stafford, Texas to purchase 2005 Hummer H2. We saw the Hummer H2 online at Ebay and we called Texas Direct Auto and spoke with salesman Mr. Darren Deshay and we expressed our interested in this vehicle. We were told by Mr. Deshay in order to reserve this vehicle, we would have to put a $ 500.00 deposit down to hold this vehicle. He also stated that we were not happy with the vehicle or it did not agree as advertised on Ebay we would receive our $ 500.00 deposit back. We agree to the $ 500.00 deposit and the vehicle matching the advertisement stated online. The $ 500.00 was paid with our debit card on Saturday, October 23, 2010.

My husband and I went (October 28, 2010) We waited at the dealership for 30 minutes before the Hummer H2 was brought to us for a test drive and to inspect it. Upon inspecting the vehicle, we noticed several things wrong with this vehicle. Listed below are some of the things we noticed wrong on the vehicle.

§ driver side door panel had a two holes in it

§ three cigarette lighters were missing

§ oil on the engine

§ white paint stains on the outside of the vehicle

§ vehicle not cleaned

§ missing a side panel on the side walls of the vehicle

§ and many other areas that needed to be address

We feel Mr. Deshay was very untruthful about the Hummer H2 listed online at Ebay. He lied to us over the telephone about the Hummer H2. He just wanted to make a sell and receives our money for this vehicle. This is false advertisement! we do not receive our deposit .we will be going online telling others customers about this company false advertisement and to beware of this company. We are very disappointed in this incident and I DO NOT want Texas Auto Direct to repair this vehicle for us. We have lost ALL trust and faith with this company and all we want from Texas Auto Direct is our deposit for the amount of $ 500.00.

The Manager and the Salesman were very rude and we would hope they do not treat other customers in this manner. My husband and I DO NOT want to do business with a company that is dishonest, scam and disrespect to their customers. We Want everbody be aware they are NOT TO BE TRUST...

My wife and I wanted to trade our 5-spd vehicle for an automatic. We went to Texas Direct Auto (TDA) on Fri 7/17/09 and after visual inspection of three vehicles decided to get a 2003 VW Passat.

The trade-in value for our 2005 Kia Sorento was only $5000, but we decided to go ahead and put down a $500 deposit, thinking that we would be given time to consider the offer. We left the dealership with our Kia and a payout agreement (but no Passat).

Over the weekend, I decided that we were going to lose too much money on the trade. So on Mon (7/21/09) I sent TDA an email asking for refund of the $500 deposit. The salesman reminded me that before they charged my debit card, he mentioned that the deposit was non-refundable. While it is true that he said this, I countered that:

1. There is nothing on the main page or subsequent pages that explains the deposit is non-refundable.
2. The only paperwork we received was a one-page summary of the purchase. It basically showed us how much we needed to pay to take delivery of the Passat. However, nowhere on the document does it say that the deposit is non-refundable. [See attached PDF file]
3. We didn't sign any documents.

In his email reply, the salesman said that on the detailed listing page for the Passat, it does state that the deposit is non-refundable. This is true, but the statement is buried deep in the page. This basically amounts to fine print on legal documents that most people don't read.

The bottom line is that TDA is not providing customers with all the information they need to make a smart purchase decision. TDA is not open and transparent in its advertisements and is relaying on "fine print" practices to deceive and, in my opinion, illegally bilk customers out of money.
