Damage to engine
On May 1st 2023 I took my vehicle to take 5 oil change at 709 N.Lake Dr Lexington SC for an oil change I was informed that I needed a coolant flush which I paid for and they administered for me. After the coolant flush was done on my vehicle my coolant light kept coming on along with the oil light warning me I was low on fluids. I went back to take 5 and informed them where they proceeded to tell me everything was fine and it was not. The technicians servicing my vehicle never added any coolant to my vehicle although I was told by those EMPLOYEES that it was a sensor in my car going wrong not the fact that there was never any coolant replaced by Take 5. After going back and explaining that it was not a sensor and asking them to check the actual coolant I was told it was fine 4 times without them ever removing the cap. On my last visit I was told the exact same thing about my coolant and the next day my vehicle stopped working because do to no coolant being in the vehicle the radiator cracked. I have taken my vehicle to the dealership who informed me of the problem and the reason it happened so I have spoken to a licensed mechanic. He also informed me after I explained what take 5 did when they applied the coolant flush that it was done wrong. I have made several complaints and I am prepared to take further action with the courts especially after being told by several employees at Take 5 were fired do to lack of experience and major mistakes that has caused more people than me problems with there vehicles. I would like to resolve this issue by being reimbursed for the coolant flush and Take 5 paying for the repairs on my vehicle that they caused thank you my name is Misty Chastain and my Fiance is Barry Allen who was with me during and after the incident we can be reached at [protected] anytime. PLEASE ADDRESS THIS ISSUE AND RESOLVE THIS ISSUE thank you for your time.
Desired outcome: Reimbursement for coolant flush and pay for all repairs due to their mistake!
Oil change
I had a complete oil change on my 2021 Jeep. I now needed a second oil change. I went back to Take 5 but they were to busy and I didn’t have time to wait so I decided to do it myself. I bought the oil and filter and proceeded. Once I was under the car, I could see next to the oil plug the pan was cracked but not leaking. I tried to take the oil pan plug off...

Read full review of Take 5 Oil ChangeTake 5 Oil Change Put My Family in Danger: A Scary Experience
So, my baby mama took her car to Take 5 Oil Change for a routine oil change. She's been going there for a while and always had a good experience. But this time, something went wrong. We're still trying to figure out what happened, but the car caught on fire while she and our daughter were in it. The brakes stopped working and the car was completely engulfed in flames. It was a scary situation, but thankfully they both made it out alive. Witnesses said that if she had been just 30 seconds later, it could have been a different story.
I don't know what to think about this whole thing. We're still trying to get to the bottom of it. All I know is that I'm grateful that they're both okay. It's just a shame that something like this had to happen. I hope that Take 5 takes responsibility for what happened and does everything they can to make it right. It's the least they can do after putting my family in danger like that.
Overall, I can't recommend Take 5 Oil Change anymore. I know accidents happen, but this was a pretty serious one. I wouldn't want anyone else to go through what we did. So, if you're thinking about taking your car there, I'd say think twice. There are plenty of other places to get your oil changed that don't have a history of catching cars on fire.
Disappointing Experience at Take 5 Oil Change: Poor Attention to Detail and Customer Service
I was really disappointed with my first experience at Take 5 Oil Change. Three months ago, I went there for an oil change and it was a complete disaster. The engine oil was all over my engine and they didn't even bother to clean it up. To make matters worse, oil was dripping on my driveway. It was a mess! I was so frustrated that I decided to go back to the shop and speak to their manager. I went to the TAKE5 OIL CHANGE - #191 located at 7545 FM 78 in San Antonio, Texas ***.
I explained the situation to the manager and he was very apologetic. He promised to make things right and assured me that they would do a better job next time. I was hesitant to give them another chance, but I decided to trust them and give them another shot.
Last Saturday, on October 15, 2022, I drove back to Take 5 Oil Change for another oil change. I was hoping that this time things would be different. Unfortunately, the following day I noticed that there was an oil drip on my driveway. I was so frustrated! I decided to investigate the issue myself and found out that the oil filter was loose. They failed to tighten it properly!
Overall, I am really disappointed with my experiences at Take 5 Oil Change. I don't think I will be going back there again. It's a shame because they are conveniently located and their prices are reasonable. However, their lack of attention to detail and poor customer service is unacceptable. I hope they can improve their services in the future.
Unreliable and Untrustworthy: My Experience with Take 5 Oil Change in Johnson City, TN
I recently had my car's oil changed at the Take 5 Oil Change location in Johnson City, TN on 10/22/22. My car may have been older, but it was still running smoothly. However, after driving for about 60 miles, I noticed that the "Low Oil Pressure; Stop Engine Immediately" light had come on. I immediately contacted Take 5 Oil Change and they sent someone out the next morning to replace the oil filter. Unfortunately, later that day, my engine blew.
Take 5 Oil Change claims that this was just a coincidence and that my car had other mechanical issues that caused the engine to fail. However, I find it hard to believe that this was just a coincidence. There were no issues noted on my receipt, but there is evidence that the oil leaked out on my Mother's driveway. I did not have an oil leak prior to getting my oil changed, so it seems unlikely that this was just a coincidence.
I would strongly advise against using this business for any oil changes or other services. It is clear that they do not take responsibility for their mistakes and are not willing to make things right for their customers. It is important to find a trustworthy and reliable business for your car's maintenance needs, and unfortunately, Take 5 Oil Change is not one of them.
Poor Customer Service Experience at Take 5 Oil Change: Over 2 Hour Wait for Service and Hostile Attitude from Workers
Hi there,
I recently visited the Take 5 Oil Change location and had a less-than-pleasant experience. While I arrived at 10:48am, I did not leave until 12:46pm - a total of nearly two hours! Despite having only one car in front of me upon arrival, my own car was not serviced until 11:15am. I then waited inside the shop for over an hour and a half, during which time all other vehicles that were behind me in line were serviced before mine.
When I inquired as to why my car was the last to be serviced even though I arrived earlier than others, I was met with hostility from one of the workers there. This individual yelled at me and checked in other patrons, leaving me to continue waiting for my own service.
The experience was extremely frustrating and left me feeling insulted. I believe changes need to be made in the customer service approach at this location, as it is not fair nor appropriate to treat customers in such a manner.
Disappointing Experience at Take 5 Oil Change: Shaking Car and Check Engine Light
Took my car to Take 5 Oil Change for an oil change and boy, was it an experience! Waited for about 15 minutes before they could attend to me, but I didn't mind as they were busy trying to upsell the customer in front of me. Finally, it was my turn and they charged me $105, which included a first-time customer discount of $10.
As I drove out of the garage, my car started shaking and I was worried. I went back to the attendants and they had no idea what was happening. After a couple of minutes, the shaking stopped and they said it was fine. I drove it home, but the transmission was not engaging well, and the shaking returned and got increasingly worse. To make matters worse, the check engine light came on.
I was so frustrated and decided to get it towed to a Ford dealership. They ran a diagnostic and determined that the air-intake hose was very loose and the air filter was not reset properly. The diagnostic cost me $150, which was quite expensive. I was not happy with the service I received from Take 5 Oil Change and I would not recommend them to anyone.
In conclusion, if you are looking for an oil change, I suggest you look elsewhere. Take 5 Oil Change may seem like a good option, but they are not worth the hassle. The attendants are not knowledgeable and the service is not up to par. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else.
Unsatisfactory Oil Change Experience at Take 5 Oil Change in Pinellas Park, FL
I recently visited Take 5 Oil Change in Pinellas Park, FL to get an oil change for my new SUV. Unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. After the oil change, I noticed that there was oil all over my driveway. I immediately took my car to Firestone, where they informed me that Take 5 had forgotten to tighten a bolt or do something else that they should have done during the oil change. As someone who doesn't know much about cars, I was extremely worried about the potential damage that could have been caused to my engine if I hadn't noticed the oil leak.
To make matters worse, Firestone informed me that they had seen multiple customers come in with the same problem after visiting Take 5. This is unacceptable - if a company is in the business of changing oil, they should be able to do so without causing damage to their customers' vehicles. I paid $100 for this oil change, and I expect better service than this.
I called Take 5's customer service to file a claim, but the manager has yet to call me back. This is extremely frustrating - not only did I have to pay for repairs that should have been done correctly in the first place, but now I'm being ignored by the company that caused the problem.
Overall, I would not recommend Take 5 Oil Change based on my experience. It's not worth the risk of potential damage to your vehicle, and the lack of customer service is unacceptable.
Terrible Experience at Take 5 Oil Change: Caused Damage and Denied Responsibility
I went to Take 5 Oil Change for an oil change and it was a terrible experience. My car started leaking oil after the visit, which had never happened before. I brought it back twice and they finally admitted fault and put in a plug. They promised to fix the damage they caused during my next oil change. However, when I returned for my next oil change, they denied any responsibility and said they had no record of the incident. I was shocked and disappointed. I left a message for corporate, but I doubt they will even respond. I have been quoted close to $1000 to repair the oil pan they ruined, which is a huge expense for me. I will never go back to Take 5 Oil Change and I suggest you avoid them too. It's not worth the risk of damaging your car and having to pay for it yourself.
Terrible Service and Inappropriate Language at Take 5 Oil Change: A Disappointing Experience
I recently took my teenage son to get his first oil change at Take 5 Oil Change and I have to say, it was a pretty terrible experience. We went to a brand new location, and I was expecting great, friendly service. Unfortunately, it seemed like only one person there had any idea what they were doing. To make matters worse, it was a windy day and one of the employees seemed more concerned about a flag than helping us out. I overheard her say something pretty vulgar about the flag, which was definitely not appropriate for my son to hear.
I decided to make a complaint to the head office, and I was surprised when the manager called me back and offered me a free oil change. I went to get the coupon and the manager apologized to me, so I agreed to give them another chance. But as I was driving out of the parking lot, I heard another employee say something very vulgar and offensive. I'm not sure if it was directed at me, but it was definitely not something I wanted my son to hear.
Overall, I cannot recommend this place at all. The website says that they want to impress you with their staff, but that was definitely not my experience. The service was terrible, and the language used by the employees was completely inappropriate. I hope that they can improve their service in the future, but until then, I will be taking my business elsewhere.
Unprofessional Service at Take 5 Oil Change: A Frustrating Experience
I recently visited Take 5 Oil Change for a routine oil change on my car. The technician went under my car and started to remove the wrong bolts. After coming out, he informed me that three bolts were missing and one was stripped from the skid plate that protects the undercarriage of my car. He needed to remove it to do the oil change. I was frustrated and annoyed, especially since my last oil change was at JIFFY LUBE, where I should have gone in the first place.
The technician automatically blamed JIFFY LUBE since they were the last to touch my car. It made sense to him, but I wasn't convinced. He put everything back and sent me on my way to JIFFY LUBE, still feeling angry. When I arrived at JIFFY LUBE, the manager was calm and understanding of my frustration. He pulled in my car and found that the skid plate and all the screws were still there. What he saw was that the technician was trying to remove a bolt under my car that had nothing to do with the oil change. JIFFY LUBE proceeded with the oil change, and I apologized to the manager for my earlier frustration.
I called Take 5 Oil Change back to let them know how I felt about their service. I was angry and used some strong language, but the technician apologized for the mistake. However, I still felt that their service was unprofessional and inconvenient. They need more extensive training to avoid these kinds of mistakes in the future.
Overall, my experience with Take 5 Oil Change was not a positive one. While mistakes happen, it's important for companies to take responsibility for their actions and provide better training for their employees. I would recommend JIFFY LUBE over Take 5 Oil Change for anyone looking for a reliable and professional oil change service.
Poor Quality Service and Lacking Management at Take 5 Oil Change
I have been a regular customer of Take 5 Oil Change for quite some time now and have always relied on them to maintain my 2021 GMC. However, during my last visit, I noticed that they were not checking certain important things like the wiper blades, coolant level, air filter, cabin filter, or tire pressure. I immediately brought up the concern with the store manager who assured me that they would take care of it in the future.
But unfortunately, on my recent visit on 5/7/2022, I found out that they had not done any of the checks that they had promised me they would. When I approached the staff about it and inquired to speak with the manager, they referred me to someone who claimed to be the district manager.
To my disappointment, this district manager had no qualms about lying to me about the checks that were supposed to be done on my vehicle. It was a clear indication that the management of Take 5 Oil Change is severely lacking and the service quality is quite poor.
In my opinion, a good leader sets the right example and ensures that everything is done properly. If the district manager, who is the topmost person in the hierarchy, is not following through with what he promised, how can we trust that the employees will do their job diligently? This is a major issue that needs to be addressed by Take 5 Oil Change as soon as possible.

After having taken my vehicle to Take 5 Oil Change, located on Southwest Military Drive in San Antonio, it took approximately an hour and a half to complete the oil change. However, the price remained the same which was a relief. Although, my satisfaction was short-lived as I recently checked the oil and it appeared to be dirty still. Unfortunately, at the time, there were too many cars waiting in line to turn back and request the oil change be redone. Overall, the experience at Take 5 Oil Change was quite unsatisfactory and I would not recommend anybody to visit this location.
Take 5 Oil Change on Victory Drive: Frustration, Disappointment, and Financial Loss
and unfortunately it was a complete disaster. After receiving my oil change, I drove off the lot only to have my car stop working a few hours later. I soon found out that they had actually forgotten to fill up my car with oil altogether! As a result, the engine in my car was completely ruined.
When I returned to the shop to confront the manager, he was incredibly rude and unhelpful. He did not seem to care about my situation and showed no empathy at all. I was extremely disappointed with the service I received at Take 5 and would never recommend them to anyone.
Overall, my experience with Take 5 Oil Change on Victory Drive was one of frustration, disappointment, and financial loss. It's important to be able to trust the professionals that we entrust our cars with, and unfortunately, Take 5 let me down in a big way. I urge anyone considering taking their car to this location to think twice and consider other options. There are plenty of qualified shops in the area that will provide you with the quality service you deserve.
Disappointed with take 5 oil change: loose oil filter caused oil leak
Recently, I went to Take 5 Oil Change in Sumter, South Carolina to get my oil changed, but my experience didn't quite meet my expectations. Despite getting my oil changed, my car began leaving oil spots on my driveway just two days later. Alarmed, I checked underneath the car and found that the oil filter was loose and could be turned by hand. To make matters worse, it was dripping with oil.
Honestly, I was pretty disappointed with this experience. After taking the time to go and get my oil changed, I never imagined that I would have to deal with a loose oil filter, let alone one that was causing my car to leak oil. It definitely put a damper on my day and made me question whether or not I would return to Take 5 Oil Change in the future.
Overall, I think that Take 5 Oil Change needs to step up their game when it comes to ensuring that their customers' cars are taken care of properly. While I might be willing to give them another try in the future, they'll need to demonstrate that they can do a better job before I'll feel confident returning.

Something similar happened to me in July 2023 as I have been getting the run away, no accounting, they won’t take responsibility by redirecting blame and I am now at my wits end. I reached out to local news investigations and in pursuit of looking for an attorney for help!
Contact John Fitzpatrick (CEO of Driven Brands - parent company) also include Neal Aronson (Founder of Roark Capital). They damaged my daughter's car and I went all the way up the food chain when I started getting the runaround. They settled with us on a total loss of my daughter's car. 2021 Hyundai Tucson 42k miles on it when she took it in. (we bought it brand new and only owed $3k on it). Now we are out thousands of dollars because we had to buy another car. Hyundai discontinued making those engines and there were no remanufactured ones available. It was a disaster just trying to get someone to look at it. Story is too long to tell but we are not finished with Take 5, Driven Brands or Roark Capital. It's time for a class action suit.
