SportsDirect.com Children's coat and the customer service

Hello,
I bought a knit cardigan for my son from sports direct as we were leaving on a holiday . I came home and my son tried to put the coat on and the stitch on the sleeve came apart literally up to his elbow. You can clearly see the stitch line where the seams were undone and the thread was still attached to it. I came back from the holiday and took it to the the store and one of the staff literally accused me of doing it on purpose . He was outright rude and said that it looks like I had taken a scissors to the coat and it looks like i chopped it. It was just apalling and if he had looked properly he could had seen the sleeve and the stitch coming off. I was quite offended by the accusation and am not pleased.

SportsDirect.com Incorrect product description and very slow response

The actual measures of clothes we received did not correspond to the measures that were shown on sportsdirect. com website. I wrote to them immediately after receiving the items (30 january 2017) and we asked for options what can be done - exchange of the goods with smaller ones or refund. I waited for 10 days before I got an answer and it was not a suggestion for solving the issue, but simply a quotation of the website's returns policy, which for the specific case, did not provide a direct solution. I wrote them back that sending clothes with wrong measures is not my fault so the transportation costs for the exchange should not be borne by me and that I suggest either a replacement or a partial refund. There are several days past since my second email and I still got no answer.

SportsDirect.com I will never buy from them again! Terrible store!

I bought a shirt from Sports Direct and the one arrived was way too small so I asked for a replacement. I used the contact form on their website to contact their support service. They replied 3 days later and said that I need to take it to their local branch and exchange it there. I told them that I did not have their branch in my town and asked for some other options.
After several days of waiting I sent them another message but they ignored me and did not reply. I'm extremely disappointed with Sports Direct! They are a well known company and quite popular and I never expected something like that to happen. When I made my order I was sure there was nothing to be afraid of, but unfortunately everything went down the hill.
I will never buy from them again! Terrible store!

SportsDirect.com Online returns refunds

On 13th Dec I placed an order for 2x personalised strips for my 6 year old for Christmas. I was told 4/5 working days online. By the 20th December I had still not recieved them. I went in store at the sunderland branch. The manager rang Christine at headoffice. Christine told us that because it was getting personalised it would not arrive for Christmas.
So we cancelled order with Christine and left the socks on order.
We then made 3 trips to get the strips from other stores. Roker retail park, metrocentre and sunderland.
We have been waiting for socks and refund since then. We have made numerous calls to call centre and emails wit no reply. We spoke to manager Andy in sunderland who was very helpful in trying to help us, however even he has struggled to get this resolved from your customer services.
We were told by John who rang Monday that Keighley Griffiths would contact us Monday about refund. (I am still waiting !)
We have heard nothing. We are now a month past this order and no further forward.
I have managed today to speak to someone named Haydon who was very helpful and has sent socks today and also processed a refund.
I am furious at how this has been handled, we are so fustrated at your customer services and getting cut off or no reply.
This is terrible customer treatment and I would like to take this matter further.

SportsDirect.com World's worst online shopping and customer service

Dear All,

My wife purchased a fishing rod from the SportsDirect.com website for my birthday on Dec 1st. It shows all sorts of statuses for the product - delivered, collected by X, currently in NL. It has never come or have I ever received an email about it arrival. I have spent twice the cost of the fishing rod, just calling the customer care. I think the call is setup so that not more than 10 people are waiting for the representative. The funny part is you will never get anybody to talk to you. I think everybody is on a holiday there. during Dec and Jan. Today on Jan 2nd, it just says it is closed. I send at least 3 emails and spend a lot of money calling them. I was a fan of their retail shop in Belgium but I will stop buying from there also. Never ever do the same mistake.

Date of purchase: Dec 1st
Order reference number is: SD40000031943665

SportsDirect.com Rude and arrogant staff, - paphos cyprus

Dear Sir,
On Wednesday 14th of December, we visited your store in Paphos, Cyprus as we do on a regular basis and never before have had we encountered such a rude member of staff as we did on that day.
As regular visitor to your store spending and average of around €150 - €200 euro per month we are known to members of staff whom we have found greatly helpful in the past.
On the day concerned we purchased 7 boxes of shoes and various other items and as we chose the shoes they were taken down to the Till area by members of staff, this was not the problem however the boxes became mixed up with another customers purchase.
When we finally approached the till to purchase the said shoes, my wife was looking at the shoes behind the till trying to work out which shoes was what, the girl (staff would not give name which to use in compliant) asked if my wife needed help to which my wife started to point at the shoes on the rear shelf, with that the girl who I am guessing was expecting a verbal answer walked away. My wife did nothing wrong it was plain to see she was pointing at the shoes and looking a little confused, however it was mere seconds that the girl walked away not even giving adequate time for a verbal answer from a confused customer!
I was stood next to my wife at the time and I could see my wife was extremely cross and angry with your sales girl, especially as the store was NOT busy and there was no que for the till at that time.
Please review the CTV of this time 15.57 hrs on the 14th December 2016, and you will see the entire thing unfold. We call the girl back but she refused saying we ‘shooed’ her away and we were rude and unjust, at which point I asked to speak to the manager.
On speaking to the assistant manager (think she said name was jay) she said she would speak to the member of staff and I was satisfied with the outcome, especially as we were regulars in the store, there I thought the matter was finished, however!
When the sales girl returned through the (I assume office door) after speaking to the ‘assistant manager’ she was laughing and then turned to see us looking at her and realized she had been seen, proceeded away from us in the shop.
I am assuming that the sales staff member was given an adequate telling off however I now do not believe this so because of this girls actions on emerging from the office.
We will Not be using this store until we have been assured action has been taken in this matter, look forward to hearing your replay.

SportsDirect.com Very rude salesman and inadequate manager

I went to this particular store with my grandson, we needed a size shoe and asked the sales guy for a size. when the size 3 was too tight, we asked if we could get a bigger size. we certainly did not expect Daniel West to get so agrevated to bring us a bigger size.
when my grandson looked for a mirror he rudely called my grandson knowing fully well that the boy was looking for a mirror. when I told him this. he screamed at me saying that he refused to help me because I was rude.
I was so taken aback as I am a tourist visiting my daughter and grandson in the UK and I always go to a sports direct store but I have never been spoken to in such a rude manner especially not in a store that you are supporting with your hard earned cash.
when I approached Charlotte who calls herself a manager she was just as bad because when I relayed my experience to her, she said that I should understand Daniel as that is his personality. How dumb as this was the first time I had met the guy.
I left the store feeling so sad and just feel like this boy who calls himself a sales person needs to go on some customer service training or perhaps find a job where he doesn't need to deal with the public as he definitely doesn't have the skills.
I feel like the sports direct owes me an apology for their rude staff members.

Thank you
Brenda Naidoo

SportsDirect.com They just don't care!

Ordered two pairs of shoes from SportsDirect and the ones I received were too big, so I contacted their support and asked for an exchange. Their rep was absolutely unhelpful and unprofessional! These people really don't care if you have something going wrong with the product! When I told them that shoes were super large, they told me to sell or donate them! What? These people are ridiculous! I paid for those shoes and I wanted to wear them! Why should I donate something that I paid for? Never again I will order anything from these clowns!

SportsDirect.com Puma golf shoes

Dear sir/madam.l have been to your Orpington Store today to collect the Puma golf shoes l ordered from you. l only realized these were not a stock item when l tried to remove the delivery charge but could not.l paid for them including postage and then shortly after realized and tried to have them delivered directly to me.This could not be done even though it was not a confirmed order.l paid £42.99 for the shoes plus£4.99 delivery. When the shoes arrived l took them home to try them on and found them far too small.l always take a 42.What has really made me angry is the Puma box they arrived in was clearly marked £25.This really is not ethical or good business practice.
l look forwards to your comments before deciding weather to report this to the office of Fair Trading.

SportsDirect.com Unethical business practices

I ordered some items from Sports Direct recently which were discounted by 10%. However, this 10% discount was cancelled out at the payment stage of the order because I applied a £10 gift voucher as part payment. I was only made aware of this AFTER the remaining amount had been deducted from my credit card. Sports Direct have since told me that I cannot use a gift vouchers against sale items, and have refused to refund me for the gift voucher I used, despite the fact they would have deducted the exact same amount from my credit card without it. They've more or less told me to go away after numerous email exchanges. This is the final straw for me after a list (as long as both arms put together) of complaints about the unethical business practices of Sports Direct. Sports Direct don't care about their customers (nor their staff). They're not even competitively priced any more. There are plenty of other retailers online nowadays who are far more consumer aware. I urge all potential customers to shop around more, in the hope that Sports Direct eventually close down.

SportsDirect.com Online ordering/delivery

On Tuesday 17th November I ordered 1 Karrimor urban jacket for my nieces birthday present ( order reference number SD4000020956570). Payment was taken from my credit card the same day. I ordered online and wanted delivery to the Preston store. The order said 2-4 day delivery. I received confirmation of my order and payment and was informed I would receive an email telling me when it was in store. I had made arrangement to go to Preston the following Sunday - 5 days after ordering. This a journey of around 30 miles. As I had not received an email as above I called in to enquire if it had arrived and was informed it had not and would probably arrive the following day. I was not pleased with this as I would have to make a further journey to Preston with resultant extra petrol costs and also my nieces birthday was upon me and she would therefore not be receiving her present. To add insult to injury I then received an e mail from Sports Direct asking for a review on service ! At that point I restrained myself from complaining. The following day I contacted Sports Direct by email enquiring about the whereabouts of my order. After 2 days I was informed it was in transit to the store which I already knew. On Saturday 28th November I received an email informing me my delivery was in store - I have only today 2nd December been able to travel again to Preston to pick up my jacket - this is 1 week after my nieces birthday. Whilst I appreciate this is a busy time of year I find it extremely irritating that I am assured on ordering delivery will be 2-4 days but I am only in possession of the jacket 2 weeks later and at some expense to myself. I will think twice before ordering again.

SportsDirect.com Wage and attitude towards employees

Our payment for under 18's is £3.79 an hour... In those hours we keep the shop tidy and make sure the products are displayed correctly. After our shifts end we have to make sure everything is clean... Including the floor. Our manager makes us use wipes on the floor to get marks off. I wouldn't mind doing all of this if my wage was higher but we are not paid enough for slave labor. The attitude towards the staff by the Managers is appalling! Our manager gets angry with us when we are unable to work because of SCHOOL! Well i'm extremely sorry if i actually want an education to get me further than sitting on the shop floor for the rest of my life.

SportsDirect.com Refunds

Bought a large selection of tracksuit bottoms for my son but as he was not with me I checked with the assistant before paying that I could get a refund as I was only buying so many so he could try them on and choose the best fit. She assured me I could as long as I had the receipt. I even checked I would get full refunds as some items were at sale prices and she again assured me there would be no problem. Back in area following week with receipt and returns only to be told Sports Direct only do credit notes! Called for Manager who summoned assistant who denied everything (obviously!) so Manager said she didn't say I could get refund and that was the end of it... Unbelievable Customer Service - that may have been my household budget for the week. How do these companies get away with it?

SportsDirect.com health and safety

06/02/2015. 16.16 am applaud by staff and health and safety regulations. I was visiting the high Wycombe branch of sports direct with my 5 month old son at 14.10. 062/2015 The manager ' I did not know at the time of the incident ' jumped up high to knock down the trainer regardless there was a step ladder free of use a few feet away, he failed to catch it, it landed just below my sons face while lying down in the pushchair. He said " sorry" and walked away. So I asked a different staff member to call the manager. I was shocked when he announced he was the manager. He gave me another un sincere" oh sorry" I am very upset and angry with the manager. I did not feel in any way he's was generally sorry. So I would like to complain to head office but I'm finding it difficult to get in contact with them.

SportsDirect.com Customer service department

My father purchased 2 bikes for my daughters for Christmas online through sports direct. When they arrived one bike was missing the saddle and stem. Was told to ring the usual costly 0845 number but guess what, no answer! After many emails back and forth to customer services my father was told to pack up the bike and spend a day waiting in for then to collect it. He decided not to bother and went to his nearest store at monks cross York to see if they would give him a saddle and stem from their stock. They didn't have any but told him to pop in a week later. I popped in a week later instead and there on a stand was the bike we had bought. I explained I just wanted the saddle and the helpful lady said she would ask her manager if she could give me one. The reply was no but to ring that flaming 0845 number which I refused to do. I asked the assistant if she could ring head office so I could speak to a human being. Unfortunately the human being was insolent, rude and had zilch customer service skills! I might as well have been talking to the speaking clock who would have made more sense. I have come away with no saddle just a 'yeah I'll email your father to arrange reimbursement' so WE can buy a saddle. I vow never to buy from sports direct online again which is a shame as I have spent a lot of money with them over the years. My partner is on the verge of going into a store and taking what is rightfully ours off a bike. I am furious as I have worked in customer services for other companies and would bend over backwards to help customers so we didn't lose their custom.

SportsDirect.com overcharging credit card

I logged in the site SportsDirect.com to make an order as I have done before. Then I switched the currency from GBP to EURO. Added 5 items in the basket (total cost: 54.57 EURO) and proceeded to order where I chose standart delivery for additional 3.99 EURO. Grand total became 58.56 EURO as expected and completed the order for which I received a confirmation mail (attachment_1.png). What I did not expect was the bank statement where it was written I was charged with USD currency (attachment_2.png). The bank account native currency is neither EURO nor USD, but BGN. It is calculable that if I pay 58, 56 EUR in the equivalent in local currency (114, 72 BGN) is about 8% lower than when paid with 79, 42 USD USD (equivalent to 125, 05 BGN). That's why I chose EURO in first place. Until the chekout I never saw a hint about paying in other than the chosen EURO currency.
Two days after I have written about this problem to [protected]@SportsDirect.com (because I have never saw other method of contact with them) I noticed anoterh anomaly: The placed order (attachment_3.png) in status 'Awaiting Courier Pickup' seen in details now costs subtotal 62.56 EURO (attachment_4.png) as if I had chosen express delivery for 7.99 EURO. They have still not contacted me but I see a pathetic try to fix things up and make me bear the guilt.

P.S.: My personal data in this report is minimized to Name, order number and order contents. I think it would be enough to identify the problem correctly. However if you need more details contact me the mail address I left on the address field in this form report and I will help with anything that could lead to a better outcome.

SportsDirect.com bad service and rude manager Chris

n October 2014, I purchased a Karrimor Long Down Jacket/coat for my wife, from Sports Direct in Borehamwood. I paid £69.99 (reduced from £139.99). The coat tickets stated inter alia, that the coat is "Water Resistant".

This weekend, my wife and I were shopping and we were caught
in a rain shower. My wife complained that the water had gone straight through and she was wet under the arms and around the shoulders. We had been sheltering from the main downpour and having waited for the rain to subside, we walked across the road and down a turning to the car. I do not expect the coat to be waterproof but I also do not expect at that price for a coat to literally allow all the water to penetrate, especially when it clearly states "water resistant" Quite simply, it would be ridiculous for my wife to not wear the coat for the whole winter for fear that it may rain.

This afternoon at approximately 12:20pm, I took the coat (including the original bag, tickets and receipt) back to the store in Borehamwood. My intention was to either exchange (if the coat was faulty or to pay more for a better quality one)I initially spoke to a girl assistant who was very polite and called a lady of senior authority. This lady was also polite and called the Manager; Chris. He immediately said "the coat is not waterproof" I said that I knew that but explained that this was a shower and we were only in it for a few minutes. I also said (as I had previously explained to both the ladies) that I was not looking for a refund but either an exchange as the coat may be faulty or a higher priced item that is both warm and waterproof that I was prepared to pay more towards. Again, the manager said that he was not prepared to exchange as in his opinion "the coat is not faulty" He then said "how do I know that your wife hasn't been standing in a shower for 5 hours"
I said that that was a ridiculous comment to make and his response was "It is my word against yours"

Even if we put the issue of whether or not there is a fault with the
coat aside. For a Manager of a store to speak to a paying customer in that way, is disgraceful. Not only that but he didn't even think to offer a replacement or even to show me an alternative. He was quite simply adamant that he was not going to offer me anything, even if I was prepared to pay more.

The fact is that the coat does not resist water, despite the fact that
it clearly states on the ticket "water resistant" It leaked straight
through to my wife's clothing and the manager was down right rude to me in front of other customers. I then told him that I was going to make sure that people get to know about this He
then responded by saying "get out of my store or I shall call security to have you removed". I know for a fact that Managers of proper and prestigious stores would have substantiated the facts and then dismissed the manager.
I certainly would have thought that a Store Manager would be polite, helpful and try to promote goodwill. Chris (he refused to provide his surname, advising me that he was under no legal obligation to do so) quite clearly did the opposite.
It is very evident that the company do not care about customer care and have their managers enforce that policy. They want your money and have all become very rich on taking it. One of the other commenters had it right when they said that the store staff are unhelpful, the merchandise is low quality and at a low price due to the fact that they own the brands so that the RRP price is actually misappropriation. Perhaps there is a legal argument or case here?
