I am writing to file a serious complaint regarding a recent purchase I made from Shapermint. I bought several body shapers from your company, and what happened after trying one of them on has left me deeply concerned about product safety and hygiene standards.
The night before leaving for an 8‑day Caribbean cruise, I tried on one of the shapers for the first time. Immediately afterward, I got into the shower. By the time I stepped out, I had developed a painful boil‑like sore on the inside of my thigh. Overnight, a second sore appeared directly across from the first one, which made me worry that this might be something contagious. By the time I was able to get to a doctor, a third sore had developed next to the original one.
The doctor informed me that it appeared to be a bacterial infection and that it was likely contagious. I was prescribed antibiotics, and the timing could not have been worse. My entire cruise was affected—I was uncomfortable, in pain, and forced to wear large bandages to keep the sores covered and contained.
When I returned home, I decided to test the shaper I had tried on. I poured peroxide on the inside of the fabric to see if it reacted. It foamed immediately—in the exact spot where the first boil had appeared on my thigh. Although I attempted to record this reaction, I unfortunately did not hit the record button correctly, so I do not have video evidence.
Regardless, the experience itself was extremely distressing and unacceptable. This raises serious concerns about whether the item I received had been previously worn and returned without proper sanitation. No customer should ever have to worry about contracting a bacterial infection from a clothing item purchased as new.
I am sharing this not only to request that Shapermint address this issue, but also to warn other customers: wash every item before wearing it, even if it is supposed to be brand new.

I hope Shapermint takes this matter seriously. No customer should ever have to experience what I went through.
