Thought you should be aware of the negative reviews. I also agree with some. One is when I place an order online for pick-up and it shows they are out of a particular item or several items in my order, yet I go into the store and they have it. Seems some items they don't won't to allow you to purchase online. My recent delivery experience has been awful. I recently signed up to the Freshpass 30 free trial period. Not impressed. Will not be renewing at end of trial.
Desired outcome: Make all items that are in the store available to online shoppers, don't say it is out when it isn't.
$75 Free Groceries
On Feb. 6, 2023 I called to inquire about this offer which reads "$25 gift card with a new or transferred pharmacy prescription, plus a $50 gift card for 5 refills". Exclusions listed are for people on Medicare, Medicaid, etc.
I stated I had nearly met all the criteria and the young lady I spoke with said they had no record of my pharmacy transactions. She put me on hold 2 times to confer with someone else. I stated that it appeared that Safeway is discriminating against people on Medicare, etc. The young lady said that was not correct. She said that the only reason I would not receive this offer was that I had not transferred a prescription to Safeway.
Desired outcome: Since the young lady said I am not disqualified because I'm on Medicare and that I do qualify, Please send $25 gift card and $50 gift card. Lenore Straus 11/18/1947 40 Bralan Court, Gaithersburg, MD [protected]
Digital coupon / manager
2/4/23, 1pm, Safeway Store, #1583, Ukiah CA We went to Safeway today to purchase fresh crab, as advertised, for $3.99 a pound. We then realized it was a digital coupon and we had to download the Safeway app. We tried to do so, but apparently this store does not have good cellular service. After 15 minutes of waiting in the meat department for the app to...

Meat — multi bargain discount
1/24/2023
I purchased 4 packs of meat from the multipack discount as the sign said 4 for $19.95. When I got home and reviewed my receipt, I discovered that I had been charged for each pack separately. I took my receipt back to the store and was told to go back and bring the meat with me which I did. This was my 3rd trip back and forth to the Safeway located on Branch Ave. in Clinton, MD. This time I was given the money which I had been over-charged. I asked if there was any compensation allowed to customers that had this happen? I was told 'no' and that I would need to talk to the morning manager. I asked if there was a complaint form and was told 'no'. I asked if there was a way to complain online and was given 'Safeway.com.' The night manager said that it was not the cashier's error, but the meat department which had not linked the discount in the system so that it would show when the bar code had been scanned. Somebody dropped the 'ball' and I the customer suffered the consequence.
Desired outcome: A discount should be given to customers who are over-charged in addition to refunding the over-charged amount. A system of check and balances should be in place so that corrections can be made quickly. (management)
Pharmacy disservice and abuse
I am a kind 62 year old gentleman, who has been a customer for many years. I am suffering from end-stage terminal COPD, among other infirmities. Needless to say, getting out and around is a significant and difficult undertaking for me. I arrived at the pharmacy on January 19, 2023, at ten minutes to seven in the evening. 7:00 p.m. is the scheduled time for the pharmacy to close. There was a line of 5 people ahead of me. (Which is in no way my fault, nor under my control.) Since my arrival, the Techs at the pick-up window were continuing to deal with the same customer until after 7:00 p.m., at which time they dropped their main counter gate, and proceeded to serve the next customer in line at the pick-up window. Then one of the Techs, (a young Asian lady) left her station, came out, stopped across from me, and over a store display of soft drinks, loudly addressed me by my first name, and singled me out as the last one in line, telling me to "leave"... That they were not going to serve me, and that I needed to come back on the morrow! When I tried to question her, and explain myself, she shouted me down, turned her back on me, and walked away. It was terribly rude, inconsiderate, insulting, and embarrassing! (Yes, I glanced to my left and saw the other four people in line staring at me.) On top of all of the aforementioned, your pharmacy was willfully negligent in providing me my medications. One of which was seriously important and needed. This last being an actual crime, according to the Oregon Board of Pharmacy. Because I am a man of integrity, in the interest of full disclosure, I will be filling a complaint with them also. (I must say that I have never been more offended by the mistreatment I received from your pharmacy, in my 62 years. Especially considering that I've never taken more than 3 minutes to pick up prescriptions from your pharmacy, in all the years that I have been a patron of Safeway. I will likely never understand why I, alone, was picked out for persecution.) I just know that I happened to be on the phone with my pastor when this happened, and have received verification that I handled myself well during the incident. So I most assuredly provided no reason, at any time, for the treatment I received.
Desired outcome: A sincere apology from the Technician, followed by her suspension of position while she be trained in how to respectfully, and courteously communicate with customers...
Gas station
On 01/17/2023 at 5:42 pm I went to get gas. I asked for a fill and gave $40 told the attendant that it probably only take $25-30. When the attendant came I told him the pump will turn off every 2-3 dollars it needs to be put in slow to start. Well he didn't like that so he sat a big padlock inside the pump handle to hold it at about $22 I started smelling a...
Read full review of SafewayService from cashiers and manager
On Monday, January the 9th, at approximately 7pm, I was shopping at the Belmont, CA Safeway, on Ralston Avenue.
As usual, I checked my "deals" on the Safeway app. Because there was a great deal on green grapes, and a dollar off on bananas, I checked these items on my list, and placed them in my cart.
There were two other items that were weekly specials that I grabbed, such as buy two Progresso soups and get three free(great deal!), and buy four bags of Lay's chips, for $1.99 each (must buy four).
A previous time when Safeway had the same soup sale, I was charged full price for the soups. I noticed the error at the register, and the cashier immediatley corrected my bill.
This time, I noticed that the soups rang-up correctly, at the buy two, get three free price.
Because there was a long line, I thought to check my receipt, after paying. This was a HUGE mistake.
I stepped away, and realized that I paid full price for grapes, at $3.99 a pound. The "deal" that was checked was for $1.51 a pound. Also, I did not receive $1.00 off my purchase of bananas.
I went back to the cashier, and said that I did not get charged correctly. She directed me to another line. What? She's too busy with other customers to correct an overcharge?
Another cashier came to me, and when I explained that I did not get the discounts "checked" on my Safeway app "list", he asked if I had "just" checked the items.
I responded that I did not just check the items.
I was approached by another employee, who questioned the price of the Lay's chips. I said that there was no issue with the price of the chips.
She responded by saying that I had an attitude, then folded my receipt and handed it back, and then she walked away.
I stood at the end of the register for minutes, while being ignored.
When I asked if anyone was going to help me, I was told, again, that I have an attitude, that the person who walked away was the best person to help, and that no one there wanted to help me.
The cashier, that initially asked if I had just checked the wrongfully charged items to my list, instructed me to return in the morning.
He then added that I had just added the items to my list, and that he saw this happen. This is a lie, on his part.
At this point, I had been overcharged nearly $10, on a $50 bill, and I was told that I had an attitude. I had been accused of adding the wrongfully charged items after paying, and I was shood away without the return of money for the overcharges.
Frustrated with the expectation that I would accept this treatment, and pay full price for the wrongfully charged items, that I had purchased only because of the discount, I got back in line to return the grapes and bananas.
Ha-ha. The person/manager who walked away from me had to return to the register, to approve the return.
She asked if I wanted to return the items, or get the price adjustment. I chose the price adjustment and received $9.59 back.
Pricing issues can be tolerated, and I consider it my responsibility to check my bill for accuracy or errors.
No one, however, should ever have to undergo the unacceptable treatment received tonight.
Lack of real time product availability info when ordering online
When I go online to order groceries the site reflects product is available. When my order is ready for pickup the item is listed as out of stock. I would immediately go back to the order site and discover it is showing as available.
This is not professional... It is indicative of what I would expect from a small mom and pop entity.
This happened today. I'm complaining because this is a recurring problem.
Desired outcome: Fix the damn problem....update your system. I'm assuming your stock control is computerize and uses the latest in technology.
distilled water
You only provide one dealer of distilled water. It is now $2.49/gallon. That is outragious! There are other less expensive brands out there but oh no you have to have the premium ridiculous price of 2.50 for a gallon of water. I'm just about ready to stop shopping with you. The store I frequent also is always out of something I'm shopping for . For the prices you charge you ought to have things in stock. I have lots of other options out there. I'm sorry you have let me down because I have always liked your store.
Safeway, Albertsons, Kroger ceo / leadership
I will not shop where I am expected to do the job of an employee who is being outsourced by customers just like customer service is being outsourced to the Phillipines. The rotting cukes in the produce dept. and the few unhappy employees and the dangerous winter conditions in your parking lot. After decades of watching the experience decline, I am happy to realize I can go to many other stores and have a downright enjoyable experience at a much lower cost. Meanwhile some old white guy sitting on his fat arse will take home a ridiculous amount of cash for sabotaging the company and putting MORE Americans on the streets without a decent paycheck. Simply put, I am not blind to the decades of a crumbling company and COUNTRY thanks to conservative policies. God Bless America.

Desired outcome: JUSTICE and an apology from all the effin' CEO's
Refund for canceled groceries order#[protected]
I canceled groceries 12/13/2022, the same day of my order. I followed up on 12/16 & 12/17. Each time I was told it was being processed. Out of frustration, I called this morning. Rep informed me I need to allow seven business days to lapse. A few minutes after call ended I noticed an email that refund was processed today and I should allow an additional five business days to lapse. This is B.S. I'm dealing with a major grocery store, not some corner market.
Desired outcome: I want this expedited and monetary compensation.
Lettuce Shreds
Safeway has copied the way Fresh Express packages its lettuce shreds but the similarity ends there. On at least 2 occasions, the Safeway lettuce shreds turned brown way before the expiration date. In fact, they weren't even opened and they were brown. This happened at the Walnut Creek Safeway and the Alamo Safeway. The last package had an expiration of 12/26 and it was brown two days ago. Bring back Fresh Express or find fresh lettuce. Waste of money.
Desired outcome: Purchase fresh produce before packaging.
Pharmacist and refusal to call dr office as well as very poor customer service
First of all: I have worked in the pharmacy industry for over 26 years so I am familiar with protocol and schedule meds.
I requested a seizure med refill via the Safeway pharmacy ap. The ap stated a dr would be called as it was out of refills. 10 days later no word on the med needed. I called the new pharmacist to ask if a call had been made. She was very rude and stated no. It was not her responsibility. She then started to yell at me that she would not "loan" me any either. I kindly told her I had and would never ask her to do that. My request was to ask her to call the pcp for a refill. Once again she said it was not her responsibility but I could call. She then hung up on me.
Desired outcome: That pharmacist needs training on customer service and needs to be told that calling a dr office for a refill IS her job
Cashier behavior
We’ve shopped at this Safeway for years, but the incident I’m about to describe has led to us reconsidering further patronage of the establishment. As my husband and I were purchasing groceries last weekend, the cashier loudly stated that many of our items were not eligible for EBT. Well, that’s really interesting, I’m sure, madam, but we do not and never...

Called into pharmacy in Poulsbo this morning refill a prescription for a cream for my wife and a cream for myself.
Told that there is new policy. Doctor needs to fill out a form on where creams are applied and how much.
None of your business. Doctor wrote the prescription. Fill it. Too much [censored]. Some stupid [censored]ing bean counter came up some corporate nonsense. Fire that SOB. Going to fill my prescriptions elsewhere.

Game over and Store #3116
Good afternoon was supposed to get some credits\Redeem numbers for buying Game On product Quaker Chewy. The machine didn't print anything out and when you call the store at [protected] no one answer, and the phone recording keeps looking itself. Also, when you call the corporate office number at [protected] or [protected] or [protected] the phone never gets picked up. Be careful and make sure that the store is giving you entry code numbers for the Game On products listed by Safeway. Tks Rob from San Bruno

Desired outcome: crediting\printing the game on entry codes since this is going to be discontinued at the end of Dec.2022 no help on phone to the store.
Grocery pickup
Whenever I order pickup service, I list a replacement item in the notes section which allows me to specify another item not on the substitution list.
It appears they never bother to view it. It happens all the time!
It should also be noted that I originally signed up for delivery service which they contracted with DoorDash to deliver. Their service was horrific to put it mildly.
Eventhough I paid for the year, I opted to pay my cleaning ladies to pickup my groceries after they were left on the sidewalk infront of my building.
I want quality service.
Desired outcome: I'm not seeking monetary compensation. I just want the manager and the shopper to be aware of my frustration when they don't bother to read my notes to ensure my sub item is selected.
