Safeway dishonest

The Safeway Corporation are outright liars, very sinister, engaging in unlawful-acts. Be careful if doing business with Safeway.

Safeway employee improper use of my credit card!

Store number [protected] randolph road, rockville md) [protected].

On march 31st, 2009, in the check-out line, my credit card didn't scan thru the credit card scanner. I asked the cashier if she could enter the credit card numbers to complete the transaction. The cashier told me no and that my card is stripe. This was a new credit card. Then the cashier took my card and took some lotions and put the lotion on the black stripe of the card, surprized, I asked her what she was doing? She replied this works, I do it all the time, then she further took the card and swipe the edges of a plastic bag over the card black strip, I asked her what are you doing again, I stated to the cashier, you don't have permission to that to my card, she kept on doing this as if I didn't say anything, I asked for the manager, then she entered the card number in the cashier machine manually as I previously asked, the transaction with thru. I still asked to speak to the manager, I told the manger what happened, he didn't seem to want to hear what I told him about how his cashier's augmentive attitude, and the improper handling of my credit card, and if my credit card was stripped? She the cashier may have stripped the card but rubbing lotion on the card, he didn't seem to care what she did, his was interested if my care was stripped, so he charged a piece of candy on the card and ran the card thru the scanner, the card was not stripped. As I spoke to him again, it is the principle and the argumentive natue of his employee and poor traning in attitude towards the customer and improper handling of my credit card. I told him I going to have make a former complaint with him, he told me that was not necessary that he will speak with the employee. Yeah right! I will make a former complaint with safeway's corporation executive branch.

As a former Safeway cashier, we all had our own tricks for getting stubborn debit and credit cards to work. We very commonly put a plastic bag overtop the card, and some had tricks like the thing with lotion. Getting some lotion on your credit card is not going to hurt it, and I suggest you quickly, but surely, remove the stick from your ### and get over it. Some people just aren't satisfied if they can't ### about something.

You should think about filing a formal complaint rather than a former complaint. You'll get further trust me. Oh and spell check...look into it. You'll at least look smarter.

P.S. Many companies are not allowing employees to manually enter your PERSONAL information for YOUR protection. Order yourself another card.

Safeway terrible experience

I can tell you first hand that if there is any justice in this world, these people will end up in jail. If you are a prospective consumer or employee of this firm, stay away. They don't train their employees or agents... regularly ignore state and federal insurance compliance laws and are pathological liars.

Brian Fillweber, Suzanne Pearl and there staff/family regularly make promises to people they never intend to keep, dodge repeated calls from current and former associates and fail to pay their employees. They like to BS people on their state-of-the-art technology (not!), get good people to come in and be productive for a while, get paid for a bit and then pocket the rest of our commissions when we leave in frustration. Judging by the calls to their office, they are doing this nationwide with countless people.

They had a non-licensed person calling Medicare Advantage Plan enrollees and posing as Brian Fillweber (the agent of record) since he was the only agent licensed in all fifty states. Apparently he was too busy actually make the thirty second calls to confirm that the clients actually understood their new plans. These were people who had enrolled with call-center agents who were not licensed in the client's state.

Recently, Mr. Fillweber announced that no one would be getting paid because of his 'legal' bills from lawsuits he was facing. Another time, we all went eight weeks without getting paid, except the family/staff, of course. That eight week period was right before Christmas and most of the agents there have young children. Hopefully CMS and/or the Florida Department of Financial Services will investigate and shut them down soon before more people get lured in.

Safeway sick on the job!

I was just at Safeway located at Happy Canyon shopping center in Denver... The cross streets are Dahlia and Hampden avenue. The girl working the express checkout lane was so sick at work that it was unbelievable! There was a pile of about 5-8 tissues full of snot right next to the cash drawer! She was snivelling, coughing and sneezing all over the place as well as bagging groceries with peoples food without washing her hands. People were actually getting out of line behind me and going to longer lines at regular check out lanes just because of her actions. If you are THAT SICK then STAY HOME! I had to come home and wash all of my purchases with soap, and hot water. That is ###! The manager of the store was obviously aware of this conduct as well as he was standing right there. I REFUSE TO SHOP AT SAFEWAY after that ordeal. Get your ### together. I should call the health department!

Seriously, do not be mad that the girl came to work. It is not her fault. 100 to 1 chance is that she called in sick and was told she had to come in. I have worked at Safeway; this is what they do. They even told me to come in one time when I had strepp throat. If you're mad at anyone, be mad at the management that mistreat their employees.

That is too bad that they lost your business over that. You should give them one more chance, and it doesn't like you were fair to the manager or company. What I am meaning by that is you should have expressed this concern in way that would make that manager think about the situation in a different light. I am sure that the person checking you out in the line didn't want to be there, but probably was pressured by his/her manager to stay. All I am saying is that you should give them one more chance, and if you do happen to go back, be sure to speak with manager in charge and tell him/her what happened and how others felt, including what you felt when you saw the associate sick. I would think that the manager would want to hear if he is losing customers because of something that is very easily fixable.

Safeway pricing policy change

Safeway is getting even smarmier. Be cautious about sale items change of policy.

For many years if a discounted price (Usually club card price) on the shelf said buy 2 and save $x. Xx amount, the understanding was that buying one of that item meant the same discount. The suggestion only meant that you'd not save as much as you would if you bought two. That policy has changed without any public acknowledgment, according to the store manager. So if we customers are not watching closely, we'll be charged full price unless we buy a minimum of 2. Those of us who were used to that policy are most vulnerable. I imagine many people will never notice which i'm sure is fine with the safeway management and stockholders. At least the recession won't hurt them.

The price signs on the shelves look virtually the same as the old and don't explicitly say that you must buy two to get the discounted price. Albertson's (Now out of business here, or changed back to lucky) used this kind of subtle (Smarmy) strategy which was a primary reason I avoided using their store.

Now i'll take whatever business I can away from safeway and i'll be very cautious buying their sale items. Just be aware if you chose to shop there.

This is completely incorrect. If an item is tagged as 10 for $10 each item is still only $1. Your information source is poor at best.
I am currently a closing manager for Safeway. This policy has not changed.

Safeway bad service

The following incident just happened today February 3, 2009. Between 9:45pm and 10 pm. I went in Safeway to pick up three items. Thought it would be a quick run in run out scenario. I went to check out and the 15 items or less line closed right before I entered. So I moved to the regular line behind a Safeway employee. The employee took 10 minutes to check out! It was the worst experience I have ever had in a grocery store. The cashier didn't pay any attention to the developing line until 5 others where behind me. I tried to be patient. But the employee wanted to check the subtotal price after every purchase made. I wanted to go to another line, but there weren't any other lines to choose from! The whole issue was that the employee didn't care since she was off work and was only thinking of herself! I will never go there again. If it closes down I wouldnt care! There are many other stores that treat their customers with respect. My advice is if you are in the Landmark area avoid this grocery store.

Safeway hires union employees. They are protected by the union from being fired. As a result they often have bad behavoir that shocks some customers. I have personally experienced both rude cashiers, and baggers that have repeatedly broken eggs despite a complaint to the store manager.

Safeway opening during inauguration day

I was amazed to learn this morning that Safeway chose to open their store(s?) in Washington DC during the entire (inauguration) day. I daresay that 98% of their personnel are Obama supporters and, apart from that, that it was entirely foreseeable that hardly any customers would (be able to) come in that day anyhow (as indeed they didn't). I think it's antisocial to offer up your workers' happiness to the gods of money and consumerism 365 days a year, no matter the circumstances.

Safeway fraud and cheating

I received a letter dated October 12, 2008. It is an Official Notification Letter stating that I am one of 149 lucky winners through a random computer ballot held on August 26, 2008. The winning pot of $2, 860, 000 will be shared between us. My portion of the winning is $17, 990. After several attempts to reach Mr. Sean Peterson, who is my claims officer, I called the actual bank that is listed on the check: The Bank of New York Mellon, Boston, MA 02108.

I looked the bank up on the internet and it was a legitimate bank. I called [protected] option 3 to verify the check. I was then given [protected] to verify the check. I first spoke with Tracey, who told me that she couldn't give any information to me and that I had to have my bank call. So I called back under the name of Trina Dixon with Washington Mutual. I spoke with Jackie, who was such a pleasant lady. She verified that the checking account was open and that funds were available.

She asked if I wanted to verify that the check was written and I told her yes. She asked for the date on the check and who it was written for and she put me on hold. When she came back she told me that the check was not written by the account holder to the person on the check.

She asked me if my client had gotten a letter with this check about a lottery or sweepstakes winning. I told her yes, and she told me this was a scam and that I should let the person know that this check was not valid.

Like they said, if it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is! Dang, how unfortunate, right around Christmas time. Santa was going to really show out this year.

Safeway rotten certified organic egg

Black mold and a milky liquid filled one end of an organic grade a brown egg. This carton of organic eggs certified by "quality assurance international" was purchased 12/24/2008, expired 1/10/2009 and was opened on 1/1/2009.

I consider this grossly contaminated, unbroken, uncracked egg a major failure of safeway, lucerne foods, inc., and organic certifier processing, inspection, handling and food safety requirements.

This product from safeway marked with a jan 10 pf 347-p-1686a expiration mark was a major, potentially fatal, food safety failure. It is a serious failure of safeway/lucerne policies and procedures.

I requested that safeway contact me with a report on this failure and will repost when/if i receive a response.

Safeway safeway store manager

I would like to complain about the Newcastle Coal Creek Safeway store manager, John Brunes. He is the rudest man I have ever met in my life. I had entered his store to inquire about a job opening. The employees were very nice and a cashier offered to go get him for me so I could talk to him about the position. When he walked up he was very cold and quickly dismissed me, saying, "we don't need any more people right now, we don't need you." I was very confused and also offended because I had spoken with the department manager of the position I was interested in and she said she would gladly hire me. Once I explained this to him, he repeated what he had said earlier and told me he was very busy and had to leave. One of the reasons I had wanted to work at this store was because I shop there quite a lot and know most of the employees pretty well. They are all friendly and personable except for John. I would expect a lot more from a store manager than this. He has no right to talk to customers in this manner. I don't care if he was busy or even having a bad day. This man has no common courtesy. If it were up to me I would send someone from corporate in right away to get him fired, or at the very least transfered so that I don't ever have to come in contact with him again. After my horrible encounter with this man I spoke to some of the safeway employees and they explained to me that he acts in this rude way to everyone. It's not right and I can't believe that he is working there.

Well, look on the bright side: at least you don't have to work for that person. I've worked for Safeway for 10 years now, & i can assure you, what you experienced (as far as feeling offended, or personally victimized by this particular store manager) is only the tip of the iceberg. At the very least, you have the option of not going back to that store & never having to deal with him again. The people who work there don't have that luxury... On another note, hope you found another job by now.

It all really comes down to monetary value, (a) Can I afford to hire a new employee as of right now, (b) I am the store manager, someone wants to get hired, how do I react to it if there is either no room, or not necessary to hire anyone new, "at this time". It sounds like this guy said essentially, we're not hiring anyone new "right now", we don't need you "as of now". The author of this complaint seems ot have acted as if a this store manager was trying to commit a great personal injustice to them just because a manager wouldn't hire them. Hey he said, "we don't need you right now", not, "get the F*&$ out of my store!" Kind of a difference.

It is true, there are higher ups who are very stern, somewhat rude sounding people, but at least they communicate with you as opposed to just straight up ignoring you. Where I work, my department manager constantly tells us to move faster and get customers out in 3 minutes, and this isn't supposed to be cleaned this way, etc. This is coming from someone who has worked at this particular store chain for 15 years (and likes to make mention of it all the time) yet for some reason the customer service representative that just got hired on has better communicative skills then she does. The first thing my manager says in the morning and generally all throughout the day is, "Hi, I'll be right with you!", which essentially means, "One of my peons we'll help you while I hide behind the wall because I get more complaints than compliments a year, and I don't like to be a team player, high school was 15 years ago and I haven't lived down my gossip days (which is inappropriate on just about every level) and when I do something, I actually half [censor] it then blame it on one of my employees, nor can I add or subtract because the load is always short stocked on supplies..." I can go on forever, but the point is, there are managers out there that seem to be WAY worse than this guy. He's just doing his job, and getting Corporate to fire ANYONE of that high of a standing...well they would need a little more then "He was extremely rude to me!" If it were that easy my manager wouldn't have a job right now, and people like me would be making more money because we took her job.

But heck, I mean, you are/were looking for a job, this is probably what you are/would be encountering either way, it took me 6 months to find a job, I got rejected by more businesses then I would like to recall, but I didn't file a complaint just because someone said "we don't need you right now!"

Even if your a manger you should still treat eveyone with respect and common courtesy. Its funny, they brainwash theyre employees to kiss the customers [censor]! It is so fake and eveyone that shops and works there knows it. Youd think since the manger is always forcing that [censor] down your throat and always pushing you to pitch sales and wear a plastic smile that they themselves would be able to atleast pretend they give a [censor]..

Nowhere in the real world does management bend over backwards and treat a new hire as a `customer`. Just because you buy your Rice Krispies from that store, doesn`t entitle you to preferential treatment as a `customer` during the hiring process by the head of the entire store, the store manager. Welcome to real life, kiddies!

It is grounds for termination. Why? Because he/she at all times represents the company. His actions follow him or her wherever they go. They must know this and make a choose to use this rude tactic. People whom ever they are in the position of authority are held to a higher standard then those whom are not. The answer is not to have the consumer deal with the employee but rather the employee to deal wth the customer. Then one says well he was dealing with a potential employee, yes, but also he is dealing with a customer and/or consumer. If a leader in the position of Store Manager of a Safeway does not understand this basic marketing tool then he/she should be at least re-trained to understand these basic business models. It becomes clear that the only people whom would not understand something as basic as this, must be an employee of the company in question.

Safeway department managers do no hiring, the store managers do. Just because a department head didnt want to break it to you that they didn't need you doesn't mean the store manager must give you a job. Store managers are the busiest employees in the stores, and because he was short with you, you want to get him fired, or transfered far away from home? This guy probably has a wife and kids and you want to ruin his life because he wouldn't converse with you as long as you wanted him to? Lets hope you never become a manager, if one of your employees had a bad day you'd execute them. You would be ten times worse than him. Congratulations.

Safeway employee comment

On tuesday nov 11, 2008 my dauter & I were walking past the sandwich department when I heard a man yell the words (F — k that) I then looked in the direction of the man only 10feet away and said I have a child right here. He just shrugged as if not caring. I later asked this older women and she said his name was joe or jowee. After 12 years of living & shopping in silverton my husbend & myself find this filthy word uncalled for and unprofetional in a normally plesent atmospher.in the futere we will be using the other door. Or as my husbend said, maybe just use another store!

Safeway scam and cheating

I researched different companies to move my 78 year old grandmother closer to me and my mom. When I came across safeway van lines spoke to Bill Shade seemed very nice at first then the move came he quoted me a price of $520.00 To $640.00 for my grandmothers move at a senior discount rate of $90.00 a hour I said great lets book the reservation and everything was set to go. The movers showed up with a truck to small had to make two trips and did not bring no tools with them and disassemble anything or reassemble anything like was suppose to happen that was part of our quoted price we were paying for then that caused things to be left behind my grandmother and her nice had to sleep on the floor that night because they refused to reassemble their bads at the new house 78 years old and sleeping on the floor crazy. The movers were always taking breaks and did not bring anything to drink they were asking us to supply them with their drinks on the phone bill told me all his movers have been working for the company for 2to8 years they showed with one was with them for 4 years another a 1 1/2 years and one for 4 months and very very bad attitudes rude to us when we had questions or even concerns I spoke with Bill Shade several times and he blew me off each time did speak with his foreman once which just made their attitudes worse if you ask me. Then the move THey broke my grandmother's refrigerator handles right off the front of it shoved right through a door we told them it would not fit in, Brike her glass bak to her cabinet scratched up a bunch of things tipped all her things with drawers up side down so everything was all over the place some we could barely get open Bill told to leave the things in the drawer it will be fine, dented her microwave and the list goes on. So I get the paperwork from the foreman that night and hourly rate is wrong he says the office is closed take this up with Bill Shade in the morning and I do and Bill blows me off all day claiming he has to talk to his foreman and he is refusing to call him back fort me to call back on monday I then say great I have this move job done and now you are blowing me off he responds thats right you had a ### move job and if you are not patient I will not do anything for you and hangs up. Monday comes I call he argues with me again the movers got themselves lost during their second trip back to the house and they were trying to blame on us also. They ended up charging my card $1140.00 he told me it would be $990.00 but that was the wrong hourly rate so Bill offers me $50.00 back which still charges me $990.00 on my card I tried to explain this and he yells at me and bluntly tells me that he has other moves that are more of a priority then I am and I said I guess I will Have to contact a lawyer goodbye that biggest scam artist I have ever been involved with do not ever use safeway van lines they are a huge ripoff.

THIS COMPANY BORDERS ON ILLEGAL AND ABUSIVE. I WILL CONTINUE TO POST ON HERE TO HELP PEOPLE NOT FALL VICTIM TO THEM, LIKE I DID. STILL WAITING FOR BILL SHADE TO CALL 2 YEARS NOW! PLEASE FIND ANOTHER COMPANY TO MOVE YOU. THERE ARE SOME GOOD, REPUTABLE COMPANIES OUT THERE. I HAVE MOVED OVER 12 TIMES, ALL ACROSS THE COUNTRY AND HAVE NEVER BEEN PUT THROUGH WHAT THEY PUT ME THROUGH. MOVING IS HARD ENOUGH AND THIS COMPANY JUST PUNISHES YOU, AND COULD CARE LESS. LOST SO MANY THINGS IN THE MOVE THAT ARE NOT REPLACABLE. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

As I stated in my previous letter...this company in horrible. They should be put out of business. I'm still waiting for my phone call from Bill Shadey...going on 2 years. If you notice, every time someone writes a bad review, one pops up that is good. I believe it is someone from their own company. I will continue to watch this site and I hope people are smart enough (I wasn't) to google them and find out how unprofessional (boardering on illegal and abusive) they are!

Safeway Van Lines is the absolute WORST, WORST, WORST moving company ever. This company needs to be sued. See my email to Bill Shade:

November 2, 2009

Mr. Shade,

My name is Zainab Hughes, following up on my voice messages left on 10/31/09. I used your services for a move on 10/31/09 at approximately 8:28 AM. Upon arrival on 10/31/09, there were three men from your company, Safeway Van Lines to move my personal belongings from address 9939 Greenbelt Road, Lanham, MD 20706 to the Self Storage Plus, located at 10108, Greenbelt Road, Lanham, MD 20706. One of the movers, name undisclosed, even after several attempts of asking him to disclose his name, behaved in a manner unfathomable to anyone’s imagination. After spending only 38 minutes to remove the few items from the apartment onto the truck, we drove less than two (2) minute across the street to the storage to unload the items. After another 26 minutes into the three men unloading the items, this one particular man (once again, name undisclosed to me) placed the iron portion to the leg of my dining room chair on top of my leather sofa, pressing against the leather in a fashion which was not acceptable by me. In fear that over time, this iron will puncture a hole into the leather of the sofa. I therefore asked this man to simply reposition these two items. He gazed at me in a manner which made my skin crawled and asked “are you freaking crazy”, “are you crazy, the freaking storage is too small” repeatedly. As can be imagined, I was in shock and could not respond immediately. Whilst his partner stood a few feet away continuing to re-arrange some of the other items in the storage room. While the third man was on the deck outside pulling out more items from the truck.

After my temporary shock wore out from this man’s insane comments, I asked if he was the one that was crazy. He then proceeded in pointing his finger at my face, in close proximity and shouted “### you”. At this point, I retaliated and told him to “### off and back off from my face”. I then told him that unless he moved back immediately, that I was going to call the police in three seconds. He responded by saying “call the police, call the police”, “###, you, ###, you, I will leave right now”. While this man still carried on with his rant, my cell phone rang from my pocket and I immediately answered to hear my cousin’s voice in the background. Whom then asked me who that person was cussing at me. I briefly explained to her what was going on and asked that I called her back, as I proceeded to record what was going on from my cell phone. It was only then that this mad man calmed down, as he saw me pointing my phone recorder directly on to his way. Which by the way, I announced to him that he was being recorded at that time (as is to be done by law). From that point forward, he said no other words as one of the storage employees came around to my area and started talking with me and getting an idea of what was going on. After explaining to him what occurred within the span of 3 minutes, I asked if they would be able to provide the recordings from their monitors that captured the whole scene. The storage employee answered to me that if requested, those recordings will be produced, especially in a court of law. The employee then asked that I stopped by the office before leaving. Which I did. Again, at the moment in which your employee saw that he was being recorded, he immediately changed hid demeanor. At the end of the move (which took less than 2 hours), I paid my balance of $250 in full and signed the paper work tendered to me.

Throughout this episode, I called the office and left two messages, which the same insane man stated I was “wasting my time, as the office is not open on Saturdays”. Nonetheless, I left a message for someone to return my call first thing Monday morning, which no one has, as of 11:49 this morning.

Aside from this madness that occurred, I was not able to locate the screws removed from my bed. One of the three men requested on the day of the move that I provided him with a Ziploc bag for him to place the screws into the bag as he removed them. That bag was never returned to me at the end of the move. I immediately need for that bag containing my bed screws to be returned to me.

To simply state my disgust and horrifying ordeal with this company would be an understatement. I am looking to speak to the manager of this company to determine the next steps to be taken from this point forward. I await a response to both my voice messages from Saturday and this email today. I’ve also called the office this morning at approximately 9:07 AM and was told that Mr. Shade was out of the office until tomorrow, 11/3/09. Clearly, someone is there at the office and should be in receipt of both this email and my voice messages. To date, Bill Shade is still blowing me off, no returned calls, he claims I'm not a priority and that he's not the manager, even though his signature line states clearly that he's the "General Manager".

The service I have received from Safeway Van Lines has been the worst of all the moving services I have ever used. I tried to do a one-day move and am still waiting on my furniture four days later despite multiple promises of quicker times. I will write a full complaint when I have finally received my furniture. If that ever happens.

Very dissatisfied!

Hi, My name is Guy. I have done research on this Company. They are a qulity Company compared to some of the others out there. They employ full time employees, Have a B rating on BBB, are certified through American Moving and Storage Association, Licsenced, Insured. The contracts are all very simple, with no surcharges, or hidden charges.

In comparison, in my research, there are over 30 companies that do not have these qualifications in the Metropolitan area alone. That is a scary thought. So many "Fly by Night Companies" out there so to speak.

Certainly no company is perfect. But, in my search, this is one of the better Companies out there. There are a few good companies out there, and I would rate Safeway Van Lines amung them. I talked to Bill, the manager during my research, and he indicated that there are a few who strictly deal on emotion, and then there are some, when you attempt to make a mistake right, you just can't please no matter what. It seems that may be the case in this complaint.

My name is Tom Tholl. I had a local move with Safeway Van Lines on December 23rd 2008. They provided a service that was impeccable. I am older, and can no longer pack much less move, and it was a pleasure watching how these young men went about the packing process. The cost was a few dollars more then Mr. Shade had quoted me, but well worth it. All of the terms of the contract were met.

I was so impressed that I called Bill to have him send me some business cards, and upon receiving gave them to my Realtor. In my opinion, don't hesitate to use Safeway Van Lines. They are a Proffesional Company all the way around.

I used this company to move from Arlington VA to Fl. I have moved 12 times in the last 25 yearss and it was the worst move ever. I actully consulted with a contractual lawyer in DC and am still seriously concidering sueing for malpractice. They should not be in the moving business.
Three packers showed up...2 could not speak english at all. They asked if I had markers (which they did not bring with them) and asked if I wanted the boxes labeled...no I want my Kitchen stuff brought up to the third floor bedroom! I ran to the store and got them markers...which the proceeded to miss or not label at all, due to the language barrier.
I ended up packing all the hanging clothes and closet belongings because they were moving so slow. They left things in every room...at the end they told me they we're out of boxes and were hand carrying some breakable things down to the truck by hand.
Then they show up in Florida...2 men...1 only speaking very little english...say they won't unload truck without getting paid first...my husband was on his way back from the bank with cashiers check...which is how I have always paid for moves...they say no cash only!...so my husband has to drive back to the bank...they are calling Bill and complaining I am holding them up from unloading.
As I unpacked my stuff the crying started...precious pieces of crystal inherited from my dead mother are shattered to smitherins...a 100 year old marble clock was put in a box with not packing paper and was crumbling...dining room hutch made my grandfather scratched and gouged...puncture holes in the slipcovers of my new couch...couldn't find drawers for the hutch which were filled with 3 sets of silverware...called Bill flipping out over the drawers and silver and he was rude and totally unsimpithetic.
My service for 12 Rosenthal china was packed so poorly...instead of dishes standing up in the box, they were placed down flat...what packer would not know that! It was such a nightmare...called Bill and told him he had to find the custom drawers and silverware, he said they would search the warehouse and get back to me...that was in on August the 5th it is now January 8th...not a word from Safeway...I did find the drawers filled with silver in a box with no packing paper what so ever...labels boys room toys! which I almost put in storage...thank God I opened it! I can't tell you all the lamps, pottery, dishes, to much to even list the were shattered and broken ( every lamp)...it was more than I could stand...I had to just let it go because it was causing me so much stress and being a stage 3 cancer survivor...it was the healthiest thing for me.
The lawyer in DC is more than willing to take my case on contigency, I'm still deciding...(I took detailed pictures of everything). PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY...THEY ARE AWFUL, DISRESPECTFUL AND SHOULD NO T BE IN THE BUSINESS OF MOVING ANYTHING...OTHER THAN GARBAGE...BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT YOUR CHERISHED HOUSEHOLD PIECES WILL LOOK LIKE AFTER THEY ARE THROUGH WITH THEM! CONSIDER YOURSELF WARNED. NOT TO SAY THE MOVE WAS DOUBLE WHAT I PAID TO MOVE FROM FLORIDA TO VA A YEAR EARLIER.

I have used this Company 3 times, as they were reffered to me by sister, who has also used them on her move to the west coast. Each time I found them to be professional and curtious and hard working from the point of contact to the end of the move. I realize that all things in life don't go as expected, but I will continue to reffer Safeway Van Lines to anyone who is in need of a move.

Safeway accused of stealing

I was accused of stealing cosmetics from this store.Instead of checking to see if I had reciept for items I was given ticket for city theft. The judge dismissed the charges, after 3 months of losing time from work, not to mention the imbrassment of the whole ordeal.BSut now it"s my turn . If people would take a stand against this big companies for ther harrassment of customers and employees maybe these big companies would think before they jump. People need to push the issue when it comes to wrong doings buy rich untouchable (or so they think) companies. I"m filing a law suite for harrassment, wrong doing and loss wages form work because the mistake was SAFEWAYS.After this maybe these companies will change there policies.I am also going to let as many people know of this incedent as I can. This chain of stores was very rude and disresectful to me. I have been shopping at this store sence it opened. But I will promise you neither myself or my friends and family will no longer be shopping at this store or any other SAFEWAY! Also the es district attorney has my case.We will see you in court!

Sue for Harrassment/ Wrongful Arrest Dentention. Make sure you ask for punitive damages. More people should sue in this day of age if not we help people like Mr. Bush and Mr. Cheney succeed. Don't be a yuppie, don't let people piss all over you! I sure don't. I now carry pre-paid legal with me as necessity, along with medicare from ssdi.

This was the first time I came to that Safeway. The cashier was friendly but kinda slow, I payed with a 20$ dollar bill, after that the cashier then tells all about to make a donation with the change for the breast cancer foundation and I say go ahead. Then she just takes the 20$ dollars and turns to the next customer. I was in a rush too so I left without...

Safeway failure of gift certificate payment system

I attempted to pay for my groceries today with a gift card for $50.00. The cost of the groceries was $57+. I swiped the card and the clerk asked for the card so he could enter it in on the pad for groceries. I had cash to pay for the remainder of the charge. Then he took the card into the closed door room behind the main booth and came back to say the gift card section of the computer was not working today. This was most inconvenient for me and I had to either leave my groceries or pay with a credit card which I did not want to do today. I did pay with a credit card but am not a bit happy.

It said it was an invalid no. It was entered twice and still would not accept it. My phone no. has not changed in 14yrs. According to the attendants, they have been having trouble with the pumps accepting many club cards.

What can be done to remedy this problem? I would appreciate a response. Thank you.

Safeway misrepresentation

I started to take more notice of info given on the breads that Safeway sells. They have a "baked on" date and a "best before" date. Here's my problem. When a customer goes to buy a loaf of bread and sees that there is a bakery in the store, they assume that the bread is fresh, baked that day. Especially if the price for the bread is the same. However unless you actually check the dates, you won't know how fresh the bread is. Right?. So, how can Safeway sell bread that could be three or four days old at the same price that the fresh bread is being sold at?. They should have a sign saying "day old bread " posted, and sold cheaper.

They sell bread that is pre-purchased from other bread makers ie: bread basket, macgavins, wonderbread, etc. these breads have usually a long expiry date (4 days). They are usually in a separate section, and admitedly have more additives than your regular in-store baked bread. The safeway in-store baked bread, however is usually baked on a replenish basis for the day. and it is usually cheaper. I have seen that bread beeing sold a day after but the expiry date on these breads is usually so short (2 days) that they throw it out regularly if not sold. It is possible that employees miss a few or are just negligent but this bread is baked every morning.

We would like to bring your attention to the fact .that you are selling Hertz animal toys made of Rabbit Fur. This Rabbit Fur is taken from Rabbits whilst still alive. China is a very cruel country with regards to its animals. Dogs, cats, racoon dogs and rabbits are skinned alive for their fur and it is the most horrific death for these poor innocent animals. China has no Animal Rights Laws, and these poor animals suffer sadistic and cruel deaths. The United States and other countries including the E.U. have banned the import of these Furs and Canada will soon join them. Please get rid of these items and join the millions of people who reject any fur from Asia. If you want to confirm what is going on please go to the web site " Animal Fur From China" where horrific undercover video was taken. Believe me it is hard to watch but it tells the truth.
My E-Mail address is, eileenyoung@live.com. Please stop importing these toy mice and we will stop the cruelty that is going on in Asia. Now that you know, you cannot say you didn't know. Thank you on behalf of all the tortured animals in Asia.

Safeway out dated items for sale

Safeway during week of 8/18/08 was selling out dated packaged bean sprouts..out dated by over a week.
Safeway during week of 8/25/08 was selling Beckmann's bread that was past selling date by 3 weeks! I counted 10 loaves of bread out dated. This is not new... and dairy products are left out in warm air while workers are slowly putting them in freezer... not a healthful practice.

Ok, so a month ago I was shopping at my local Beacon Heights Safeway when I saw that Safeway Cranberry Lemonade drinks in tetra packs (5x200mL) were on sale! The sign says ' REDUCED FOR QUICK SALE - 50% OFF/$1.00) so I was like "what the heck, it won't hurt to stock up". I made sure I check the expiry date on ONE of the packages and it says 2009 OCT xx so I bought 5 packs. Just today, as I was drinking the juice box, I thought it tasted a little 'bland'. I thought it couldn't be the juice because I already checked the expiry date and must be the new toothpaste I'm using. Just when I was about to finish it, I decided to look at the expiry date which says '2008 OC 25'! By the way, today is 2009 AL 24! This juice expired 6 months ago and they are STILL selling it 5 months it expired! I was outraged! This was not the first time Safeway has been selling expired products - a year ago, I purchased some Safeway Cheese Puffs from them and it was 5 days over the expiry date and STALE! Extremely disappointed - you pay for outrageously overpriced products there and the quality is worse than large supermarkets such as Lobalws!

Safeway evening personnel

This complaint should concern Safeway Management: I stood in line after doing my shopping, when a manager/bookkeeper stopped at 'my' register, replaced clerk, dug money, checks out of register, walked off with reg. drawer to a private office. After 3 or 4 minutes, I asked the young clerk how much longer "just a few minutes, she has to close the register, etc." Two minutes later, I got the same answer, so left my cart to find another store. At the time 10Pm Aug 28, other safeway youngsters were a few c/o aisles away, chatting, idly sitting on counter. Prior to this event, rolling my cart past displays, access to the dairy section was blocked by a pallet. I leaned over, set the pallet upright so I could get through. Three 20-30 yr old safeway employees were within 10 feet, busy talking about pending days off. None volunteered his effort to help. There is a bad attitude at this store TOWARD CONSUMERS! NEW MANAGERS WITH AMBITION NEEDED HERE.
