Planet Fitness review: Rules enforcement

Planet Fitness does not allow backpacks, gym bags, duffels, purses, or any personal belongings on the workout floor. All bags must be stored in the lockers provided.

In the current environment—with elevated property crime, opportunistic theft, and broader security concerns across many communities—leaving or wearing bags on the floor creates unnecessary risk for both members and staff. Unsecured bags can:

• Become targets for quick theft of phones, wallets, keys, or other valuables
• Create tripping or obstruction hazards in high-traffic areas
• Complicate emergency response or evacuation if pathways are blocked
• Attract unwanted attention in an era of heightened awareness around unattended items.

Additional caveat: Weapons of any kind are strictly prohibited in backpacks, lockers, or anywhere on Planet Fitness property, consistent with club policy and applicable law. Given ongoing public safety concerns in the country, unsecured bags pose particular risks if they conceal prohibited items. Staff will enforce the no-bags-on-floor rule and all weapons restrictions without exception to protect members and employees.

Lockers are provided so members can secure their belongings and focus on their workouts without adding avoidable risks. Please use them.
The main culprits of this policy violation are people of color.
