Planet Fitness I joined and then cancelled - and still got charged

I joined mid-May of 2023, to try out PF, with the introductory fee. - at the local Gym in Hendersonville, North Carolina.

My doctor in the meantime, recommended I do physical therapy instead.

So when I tried to cancel my membership, I still got charged the yearly fee.

I sent a letter to the local Gym, to finalize the cancellation AND sent a Registered letter to Planet Fitness in New Hampshire of my desire to get a refund AND please Cancel. IT was returned.

I just found out, that the address listed on PF's website was wrong.

Planet Fitness Machinery mix

This is not so much a complaint as a request. there appears to be an over abundance of cardio equipment compared to weight training equipment. I will use the gym I go to as an example. there are two cable crossover stations that are constantly in use, one fly machine that has people waiting for it, one seated curl and preacher curl machines that are hardly ever unoccupied as are the five or six benches for use with free weights. I spent half of my time in the gym today walking back and forth waiting for any one of the three machines to open up that I needed to complete my work out. Mean while a trio of what appeared to be siblings were camped out on half of the cable crossover the entire hour I was there, and still there when I left. The fly machine just never opened up and all the benches were taken. In contrast, there were eight people running on treadmills, of the twenty +/- treadmills in the gym. There was nobody on any of the multiple bikes or elliptical machines or various other cardio machines.

My question is, could somebody evaluate this situation and maybe swap out some of the cardio machines in favor of some more weight training equipment? This would better serve the actual cliental of the gym and make for a lot more pleasurable experience at the gym

Planet Fitness Personal trainers/classes

6 years ago I was a member of the Planet Fitness in WacoTX. I was able to schedule a 30 minute 1 on 1 with a personal trainer to go over my health, my goals and find out what was the best workout strategy for my goals. I have recently joined the same Planet fitness in Waco TX and was surprised to find out that personal trainer appointments are no longer a thing. There is a "Fitness Instructor" that has direct your own program classes. This to me is a problem on several fronts.

1) these classes during the evening (After I get off work) are few and far between and are always FULL The classes during the day are usually open but then again I am AT WORK! (There are no weekend classes.)

2) I am told it is a basic group class structure which leads me to believe that is is just generalizations on how to plan your own program.

Why were the signups for individual trainers discontinued? I really prefer the firsat meeting with a trainer or fitness instructor to be a one on one because everyone has different goals and needs as far as thier fitness and lifestyle is and what they hope to accomplish.

If there is any way to get a one on one in my local club (ASAP) I would re3ally like that opportunity. Please help me to accomplish what I want to accomplish.

Desired outcome: A personal 1 on 1 session with a trainer/ personal fitness instructor at the Waco TX center wat a time that is convenient for me (Monday -Thursday 5 pm ) by This coming Thursday 7/27/2023 so I can focus on my goals

Planet Fitness Membership cancellation

My ex wife got a job at my gym in Langley bc Canada. The manager called me and said I said something rude to her even though the cameras show I never spoke to her. Then They called my fiancé and said she was the one who said something even though the cameras show there was no contact. We joined planet fitness for its convenience of 24/7 and its gym policy of no judgement and helpful atmosphere. So far we’ve had our characters defamed and basically told we are not allowed to fix our health issues there because a staff member falsified a claim and the video proves it. Planet fitness Langley does not stand behind the planet fitness values and we will be taking this matter to the courts.

Desired outcome: I would like my and my fiancé memberships reinstated and a formal apology from the person who fabricated the claim against us.

Planet Fitness Langley, BC Branch

Good morning.

On, 07/16/2023 @ approximately 9:50amPST, myself, daughter and boyfriend had finished out workout, and proceeded to the black card member room which we do following every workout.

There was a new staff member whom had been transferred and was helping my daughter and I check in. Another staff member then came up and told us we needed to scan in again to use the BC area, in which I asked we had never had to do this previously, she noted, well you do. We got my daughter all set up, and in to use the facilities, next, myself getting signed in to use the facilities. The ladies at the front got me ready, I asked if I needed to scan in again, she said no, we know your a member, I proceeded to the service area. We finished our workout, and tanning, I said thank you and left, my daughter was still inside using the services. My boyfriend, Derek Anderson then advised following my exit, his ex-wife was working, Roslyn, first I heard of this, regardless, I have no issue, nor have I ever seen her or come in contact with her. I am a 46yr old woman who enjoys the gym and services your provide, I am not there to create any issues or drama.

I just received a voicemail this morning from the manager at your Langley location, Arianne, stating that I was belligerent to the staff and my membership has been cancelled. I did no such thing and asked to see the tape where I am being accused. Arianne refused, and proceeded to tell me my membership has been cancelled along with my boyfriends. My daughters membership is still valid, defeats the purpose of why we joined, no judgement. I am being accused of using language which I would never do, and I am also being refused access to view the tape. This is deformation of character, and before we get any lawyers involved, I wanted to come here first, to see if there is a way I may keep my membership, as I so very much enjoy the location and services provided by Planet Fitness. Planet Fitness states no judgement and are taking the word of their staff, which, I understand, but, I would like to see the proof that I said this, as, I did nothing to deserve this treatment, and be accused of using words that I would never use.

I appreciate your time and looking forward to your feedback.

Planet Fitness Gossip/gang activity

Morning of July 8 2023.

Morning of July 10 2023.

I am experiencing gossip, I believe, about myself at this location. I am a man in my 50's that works out everyday. I seem to be singled out by some staff members, and friends of their's, on the floor, for some reason. Constantly being started at in a bullying fashion, by others on the floor. Had my workout bench taken from me while I was putting dumb bells back on the rack and tough guy looks from a other guy, both of Muslim decent. July 8 morning. July 10 more hard stares from one of the same guy's from July 8.

Growing up in the big city, I know gang activity, when I see it.

Others in the gym seem to gossip to the staff about me, I believe, judging from the childish behaviour.

Desired outcome: I think you need a adult manager to discipline the staff at this location, or perhaps, remove them.Also, some of the people in this gym are gang members, and should be removed.

Planet Fitness Unethical charges

My daughter opened up a contract for her daughter last year at Noordheuwel.. she does not work and has not for over 6 years, but Planet Fitness accepted her application, with no Employer confirmation, with no proof of banking of 3 or more months except for the Capitec acc she opened with only the amount to open this contract. No background check was done. But you all okayed it! My daughter is an addict and now she has left and we do not know where she is... and my granddaughter is getting messages to settle a bill of R463.84 re LC814328. SHE IS 15 YEARS OLD a school child. I called Noordheuwel last year explaining the situation and was told I must not worry. Now we are receiving this. It is not acceptable.

Your staff should not be in a hurry to get a contract signed but do proper background checks.

Desired outcome: I would like this contract terminated as requested numerous times. and monies owing to be deleted off your books. You cannot hold a 15 year old responsible for an irresponsible adult or staff.

Planet Fitness Untrained staff

Hi

I tried to joined Planet Fitness Saugus through my insurance it cost more but I didn't want to use my bank account as required by PF. When I went on Friday when I was active with my fitness id the person behind the counter wasn't trained to set me up... he didn't know how to do it and I will have to come back on Monday. I paid for Friday, Saturday and Sunday and because of the some theft that occurred in the past he said?... I had to leave, what does that have to do with me? Do I look like a thief? A 61 year old women! I wasn't able to work out this evening or the whole weekend even though I paid... he was taken orders over the phone from someone called the 'assistant manager' Josh.. who doesn't know how to set someone up that signed up through an insurance company either.. The owner of Saugus MA location needs to train their staff — 'STAFF' written on the back of a T shirt doesn't suffice. Left me with a bad feeling about Planet fitness — I think if I was younger I wouldn't have been treated like that — judgement free zone?

I don't think so... I would like to not be followed around the gym like a thief by the staff member telling me "yes you can go work out" — then "no come back" - then "yes go work out"- "no come back" he followed me to the equipment to ask me to come back then asked me to wait - and then finally to leave. Planet Fitness Policies are all over the place

I’ve been a member for 3years at the same location. I have the black card and have the same guest every time (my daughter). Today i was questioned as to why my daughter isn’t registered? She is. We don’t bring our phones in. Employees find her in the system under her name, apparently this isn’t good enough anymore, fine. The problem was the man who was there was aggressive and not very nice about his perceived policies. I ignored him and talked to the woman who was working also.

She was very nice. I don’t think that i should be attacked for policies that continue to change when there are new employees that i will probably never see again because that is what happens here. I just think training should be more in depth and definitely more consistent.

Customer service should also be a priority.

P.s the t.v’s have been out for weeks.

Planet Fitness Membership

June 2 - toured Kennewick facility. Asked about short term membership. Informed them I'd only be in town 3 weeks. "M" said that I could cancel before the 17th of the month and not get billed. I told them I would check out Alexandria or Houston first. No mention of the cancelation policy was made

June 5 - signed up for membership. Paid prorated dues and set up fee.

June 14 - worked out and informed "M" that Friday would be my last workout in Kennewick. She told me she could transfer my membership on Friday. Because it was less than 90 days, she would have to do it manually.

June 16 - before working out, informed the male working that I wanted to transfer my membership. "M" wasn't working that day. He said I could do that when I got to the next gym. I repeated what "M" said - it could be done in Kennewick if I knew the gym I wanted to transfer to. She even admitted it was not as simple as doing it on-line but could be done. The guy working had zero interest transferring it and said "you can do it when you get to the new gym" in Houston or Alexandria.

June 21 - went to Alexandria gym to check it out. It was too soon to get a free pass (one a month) so I asked about transferring the membership. They said I could do it on-line but I informed them what they told me in Kennewick, because it was less than 90 days, I could not do it online. They disagreed so I went off to the side and logged on. After selecting the Alexandria gym I did get the error message that I could not transfer it until belonging to the Kennewick gym longer. I'm back in the south so this means for the next 2 months, I will have to pay membership dues for Kennewick, knowing I would only be there 3 weeks. I can definitely say that I would have NEVER joined Planet Fitness knowing this policy rule. I belong to a gym in Houston that is a better facility and do not plan to change. I could have looked at other tri city gyms but didn't see any reason to. This served my short term needs to workout while in town.

At the moment I can't go to any gym except Kennewick even though I am back in Houston since July 17. Ironically, I received a text that my monthly payment auto debit did not go through so I'm not real sure what has happened but want the membership [protected] cancelled as of July 16.

Desired outcome: Cancel the membership as of July 16 with no additional charges

The phone number you have listed on this site - which is your website - [protected] is incorrect. IT IS NOT A PLANET FITNESS NUMBER! It is someone's private phone number. I called this number you listed and received a voicemail message which states that this is a private number and NOT a Planet Fitness number. Apparently he is receiving numerous calls and is quite annoyed by this!

Planet Fitness Inappropriate activity on massage bed

On July 2, 2023 at 10:45pm at the Penn Hills location, I was in the chair massager having massage. A white woman & black man enter the massage area & lay on the hydro massage bed TOGETHER! They were on the bed for approximately 10 minutes. She had her left leg up & the man was on top of her other leg. He was touching her in a sexual way. I went to the front desk to reserve a time for the hydro massage bed & let the Planet Fitness front desk worker know there was a couple on the bed! He said, "I know. He is my cousin & he is freaky!".

Why is Planet Fitness allowing this disgusting behavior in the Black card room? Only one person should be on the massage bed at a time. If people want to have sexual activity they need to get a hotel room!

Please call me at [protected] to let me know what will be done about this.

Planet Fitness Business model

Good Morning,

My name is Mark Wandel. I have a "subscription" at the Canton Michigan location. I activated the account in January and have been charged $75 ($25 per month for months january, February, and March) and because of circumstances with my work habmvent been able to actually get in to utilize the program. I contacted the location today since I am going to be able to actually start a work out schedule now and they state that even tho I have never stopped into the establishment I owe over $100 in fees to be current for the months I didnt not use the membership. As I stated...I already paid $75 for months not used. I have no I mentions of paying more for service I never received. This cannot be the business model...but I see that it is. The paying customer that doesnt use the equipment and the establishment is valued because it's free money. Maybe more so than customers that come in to use the machines. What I would like is for planet fitness to waive the late fees and the months I have not used the service...wipe the slate clean, and allow me to move forward from this month. I'll forfeit the $75 paid already. No issue there. But this can not be the way you treat customers...this isnt a winning strategy to essentially say to a paying customer that either you pay for services you didnt use or you can not pay for future use. I am excited to hear back from you. [protected]

Desired outcome: Erase the past due and let me start my membership from july forward.

Planet Fitness termination of my membership for helping staff

This club has a policy to have you termanated I gave a letter of concern about women working alone due to the crazies around sarnia well two weeks latter a person stoned out of there mind walked into the gym and went around to the cash area and all your computers so I got the employee working and he tried to reason with this guy or girl he threated me and the staff members so I interviened because the staff that was on could not handle the situation I got a call today and was cancelled there reason I should not get involved so im I an to let this crazy do what he wants like beat the employee women beatin or raped and I should mind my own self and let it happen so the crazy wins and I lose they also said they had numerous complaints about me I asked what they were and was told they could not tell me what the complaints were ive been a member since it open and if you bring an issue to them they done like they say all the complaints are against me something I could not understand but ive seen then get rid of staff because they did there work was to good they dont want that ive seen alot come and go no wonder they cant keep staff so at midnight there are a few people that we all talk to each other so now im gone

Desired outcome: well to get my membership reinstated but for a gym i want my membership yearly fee returned to me as this no longer a gym that looks after there members last but cant do there job

Planet Fitness Broken equipment, which cause my phone to break

As I have for nearly 4 years we have been at a facility, I was getting ready to use the eliptical. I had my left foot on the pedal, next I take my cell phone and put it in the cup holder which is just below the monitor. As I pulled myself up and over to the right pedal my cell phone had fallen through the bottomless cup holder and first struck the large metal connection, bounced off and hit the floor! Immediately I dismounted the equipment and checked my phone. It was damaged, visually the damage clearly showed the left side of the phone had split open to the point removing the hardshell cover was next to impossible. I found the supervisor at that time and showed her my obviously damage cell. Later I found out that the internal works were damaged also, overheats, turn on and off at will, and more! I am using my husbands computer for this. The following day the supervisor explained that they wanted to "comp" us some visits for payment of damages, both my husband and I have the Medicare plan that pays for our PF visits so that was not a solution, and it shows that the damage is real, I have pictures of the bottomless cup holder on that phone!

Planet Fitness Compensate all black card members at the new Smyrna Beach Planet Fitness and get the gym back in working order.

I joined the gym in New Smyrna Beach approximately 6 months ago and I am also a black card member. I have really enjoyed it until recently. It seems the gym is going downhill quickly. The AC in the black card room where the hydro beds are that I used to enjoy has not been working now for at least a week and a half. The employees have opened both glass doors to try make it cooler which creates yet another problem. This in turn makes it hotter in the rest of the gym where I am working out. Then we have the total body machine which has also been out of order for some time so I can't use that either. You have some great employees working there which brings me to the last complaint. I'm not sure if this is true but I heard that several are leaving. If this is true, don't you think someone should be checking into all of this and finding out what the root cause is.? Do you think continuously hiring new people will solve the problem? I would like to see this turn out to be a company who cares about their employees and members but as of now I don't see it. I think everyone with a black card should should be compensated until the repairs have been made. Thank you, Donita Wallace [protected]

Planet Fitness Employee sexual harassment

As I write this complaint, I am currently looking for a number to call HQ directly. The complaint is about the Planet Fitness on 520 Broad Street, Newark, NJ against an employee. The morning shift, 6/19/2023, there is a dark skin gentleman working the front counter on said date. Dark thick head of hair, facial hair, slim fellow. My cousin usually goes there with a friend or two to workout. She prefers the mornings. But I overheard a conversation this employee had with her that was completely out of line. The thing about her is this, when she gets very uncomfortable with something, she gets really quiet, looks down, and turns bright red. He told her these exact words: "So, thought about that offer? I can get you a year free." As he said this, he looked her up and down lustfully and bit his lip. First of all, my cousin is a minor. I asked her about this, and she explained to me that this was going on for a while now, asking for sexual favors to get free memberships. Regardless of the fact that he can actually do this or not it is out of line. I encouraged her to get the police involved. She vehemently refused. So, I said okay, I'll push to get his employment terminated. For the record, I have an uncle that is an ADA, an Assistant District Attorney that reports straight to the District Attorney of Essex County. Listen, if that man is not relieved of his duties immediately, I will press charges on her behalf, which in the State of NJ I can. There are three witnesses, her friends and me. If I so choose to pursue these charges, the ADA promises to embarrass this Planet Fitness location, tainting the Planet Fitness brand, and getting the media involved. First of all, he is not just sexually harassing a female, he is sexually harassing a minor. How would Planet Fitness look on the news being labeled a company that hires sex offenders that target minors? Not a good look. I suggest getting rid of that guy and saving everybody the headache of dealing with the judicial process. Like I said, in the State of NJ, if a witness to a crime, I can press charges on behalf of the victim by leaving an affidavit. Once the District Attorney grabs hold of the case, there is no letting go. Planet Fitness will face the wrath of the NJ judicial system. Plus, a class action lawsuit does sound tempting after a conviction takes place. Which it will.

Planet Fitness Black card guests/family plan

I recently joined planet fitness getting the more expensive black card membership. There were many reasons I got the black card but mainly so me and my husband could both go and we could go to any club we wanted. About a week ago I went to go workout at the club on Adams Ave in Phila (rising sun). Its a beautiful clean club with friendly staff and immaculate locker rooms. My husband wanted to join me but just getting done work wasn’t able to so after researching I told him it was ok to go to another club without me because we’re BlackCard members and there is a family share option which allows him to go without me. He decided to go to the club located on Spring Garden St in phila. After checking in with the barcode I sent him he proceeds to the locker rooms. He told me the locker rooms at this club were absolutely disgusting and he was reluctant to wash up there but being he just got done work thought it was only respectful to before he used public machines. He started getting undressed and said he was approached by a rude employee who was working the front desk who started bantering him asking him his name and who he was and how he wasn’t Meghan (it was my membership) all the while my husband is standing there in his boxer shorts. The guy told him he needed to come to the front desk so mu husband responds after he gets washed up he will be out. The man demanded that he went out now. So my husband agreedbut was embarrassed because this employee did this in front a bunch of people. Now by the front desk the man explained that i needed to be with my husband in order to use the gym. He never once mentions anything about a family share plan or does he offer to call me at all. My husband was for fed to sign up for the 10 membership in order to work out and use the facilities. I am very upset with the lack of customer service he was given and the lack of knowledge about the plans perks rhe emploee has. Most importantly is how unnecessary it was to embarrass my husband and harass him while he was in his underwear in the locker room. How can you compensate us for this embarrassment?

Planet Fitness Cancelled membership

I have been a loyal member for over 3 years now. I attend your North Huntingdon location 5-6 days a week. Thankfully to your facility I have lost over 150 pounds.

On June 17, while I was working out a transgender (man acting like woman) came into your facility. Upon entering he walked straight into ladies room with no warning or announcement to any of the girls that were in there at the time. Another member who is a woman and also has daughters that workout there went into the ladies locker room and spoke to the individual. The individual then came out and went to the costumer service counter. I could see it was a heated conversation as the individual was pointing at the woman who had said something to him. At that point the woman, the individual and ms Lopes began having a conversation. I then approached the desk and tried to defuse the situation. I told Ms Lopes there was an easy fix for the situation. Simply have this individual upon entering the gym notify one of the gym employees that they needed to use the locker room and the employee could clear the locker room and stand at door until this individual is done. Ms Lopes stated that that would be discriminatory towards the individual. I then stated it is not fair for any real woman who may be in locker room changing to have a man walk directly into the woman's facility. Ms Lopes became highly agitated and stated that our memberships were being revoked. At this point the individual in question and the woman who confronted him had exited the gym. Approximately 20 minutes later I was on the treadmill and to my surprise I was surrounded by three North Huntingdon Township Police Officers. They explained that Ms Lopes called them to have me removed. I was totally dumbfounded being the fact I was only trying to help.

Ms Lopes totally infringed on my constitutional rights and throughly embarrassed me in front of everyone at the gym. I have never been so embarrassed in my life. I have contacted an attorney on the matter. Thank you

Planet Fitness Discrimination at Planet Fitness: My Disappointing Experience at the Cranberry Location

I usually go to a different Planet Fitness, but since I have a black card, I decided to try out the Cranberry location. I had an appointment to adopt a cat in the area later that night, so I figured I could get a quick workout in before then. I arrived at the gym around 4:30 PM.

As soon as I entered the gym, I headed straight to the ladies locker room. After changing, I went directly to the stair machine that was in front of the ladies locker room. It was the third stair stepper closest to the entry of the gym. I started my workout and was on the stairs for about fifteen minutes when an employee approached me.

The employee asked me to leave the gym because I had not cleaned the exercise equipment between uses. I was confused because I had only been on the stairs that they interrupted me on. I had not used any other equipment. I tried to explain this to the employee, but he insisted that I had not cleaned the machine and needed to leave.

I felt like I was being discriminated against because of my appearance. I have heavy tattoos and long blonde hair, and I think that may have played a role in the way I was treated. I have never experienced anything like this in the city of Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh is a loving community, and I have always been treated with respect.

I was upset and in tears when I spoke with a manager about the situation. He apologized, but said that he didn't have a corporate number to give me. The only solution he could offer was for me to complete an online survey.

I am vaccinated and work as a social worker. I always treat my home gym with respect and would never leave a machine without cleaning it. I felt like I was profiled and kicked out of the gym for no reason. It was a shameful experience, and I hope that no one else has to go through something like this.

Overall, I was disappointed with my experience at Planet Fitness in Cranberry. I think that the staff could benefit from some sensitivity training and that the gym could do more to ensure that all members feel welcome and respected.
