Pet Food Center in Owensboro is a major disappointment and the assistant manager is the most ignorant of them all! I went in there to check out their selection of rat toys, which was pathetic, and since they didn't have anything I thought I'd go check out the animals they have. Anyway there was a group of older kids around the hamster cage which had a large amount of babies and the water bottle was so high only the mother could reach it! I There was a hamster that caught my eye right off...he was horrible looking...his fur had no shine and his eyes weren't bright like the rest..he was pretty much lifeless. Plus to make it worse there was a dead hamster in the same glass cage. We notified the assistant manager and she acted like she could care less! I have never seen someone act so uncaring or concerned. I picked up the little guy and took him up front to buy him so maybe I could get him healthy since they apparently didn't care. Neither her or the other girl staff member could give any insight on what might help him...all I got was she doesn't want to sell him because he is sick and there's a 3 day guarantee... I knew my chances on saving him were slim and told her I didn't plan on bringing him back IF he did die. We took him to PetSmart where they really were great and helpful and CONCERNED. The little hamster didn't want to eat, he could barely keep his eyes open and he gasped for every breath he took.. I tried my best but he passed away about 5 hours later. I contacted the general manager and he basically told me they took in some baby hamsters from a customer and he guesses they took them away from their mother to soon. It's sad if you're going to take animals from customers but you don't bother finding out if they are weaned or have any disease?! Learn to take care of your animals PFC and pay attention to them and maybe incidents like this can be avoided.
thank you for your response, it was rather amusing! Well first off when the store doesn't even know how old the babies are and if they ARE or ARE NOT still nursing then why take them? So yes, their care right there was LESS than mine. What I saw at the moment was good enough for me, You were not there, so why don't you stop running YOUR mouth? You don't even live here so doesn't that make you a hypocrite? You're also making accusations and assumptions. Well hopefully I don't run my mouth and put an innocent person on death row now now! Aw they sound so adorable! I would love to own a cat but I'm pretty sure as of now that would be a disaster lol. My rats names are skeezy and jacho. Skeezy is tan and white and jacho is grey and white. I've trained them to so a couple of tricks, they are a lot of fun! As for my doggies there's Buddy aka booty who is a dachshund, Tyson who's a min-pin and dachshund mix, Jody aka bobo who's a yorkie chihuahua mix and cayden aka fuzzy who's a Pomeranian :) gotta love our animals!
My weekend has been busy I've been helping out both my grandmas and my mom and it was hectic but worth every minute. Hope your weekend was great too :) don't worry about anyone else who posts unless it's something positive, all this negativity really sucks lol.

Damn I missed a lot since I was sick lol. I'm glad you and Brenda made truce lol and I agree too that Brenda does have good advice. But I also have to say, even though I and sp don't agree, that on some posts I read she made sense. All I know is from what I seen in the store for that half hour I was there and the stupid staff that totally kept blowing me off just disturbed me so much I had to vent somehow. I still cry knowing I couldn't save him, I guess that makes me a wimpy ### cry baby but I guess I'm just more sensitive than normal lol. I didn't write thus complaint on here until after I spoke with the general manager and his explanations were all over the place. He thought it was kinda funny, I did not and that really pisses me off. Especially when he told me that the store had electrolytes (spellings off sorry lol) in the back and the assistant manager knew this and he didn't know why she didn't offer to use them. I dunno maybe she forgot. anyways I'm most likely going to sit back and only reply back to positive comments lol cause I don't want stuff to turn out like an episode of Jerry springer. Lmao slynn that's so cute and funny too! My lil doggies have their individual quirks lol like bobo will constantly chew his freaking ### it's so gross! I have suggested we get him a cone lol. Tyson is blind so he really doesn't do much but run into things which makes me feel so horrible! Cayden and buddy will find any trash anywhere and drag it around and rip it to shreds! When I had momma cat she was like your cat too nothing but one thing would keep her interested lol. Animals have a mind of their own! :)

It makes me sad the immaturity of some of these posts. The hamsters welfare is of the utmost priority, that is all that should matter to the pet shop. This is clarified in their license. Arguing over whose fault it was does not matter, once the hamster was discovered the staff should have done everything in their power to decrease suffering, even if that meant euthanising. Well done TD6 for trying to help the hamster, I know personally how heart breaking it is when an animal you try and save dies anyway. Even if the hamster was born sick and was going to die anyway, as certain users have stated, the pet shop should have done regular health checks (anyone in this business is taught that - I know this from personal experience). and the hamster should have been dealt with, and not left on display. Judging by the photos the hamster did not become suddenly ill, and it is the responsibility of the pet shop employees to notice these things. It not only fails animal welfare laws, but trading standards laws, for after all, they are a business. Making excuses for such a business is a failing on humanities part. Certain businesses (hospitals, boarding kennels, pet shops, child care establishments) cannot have excuses made for them, as they are in charge of life, and by not being responsible they can cause suffering.

No, the fur doesn't lay flat like that and their bodies don't lock up stiff like that when they first die. They're quite limp and floppy. Takes a while for the rigor to set in. And for crying out loud where are it's ears? Did those fall off before you found the animal and took the pictures?

ummm... I just want to know why the original poster waited so long to take pictures of that dead hampster. That animal is not dying in those pictures it is DEAD. LONG DEAD considering that it's flat on one side and the limbs didn't move at all when it was flipped over in that last pic.
Pet stores that sell live animals for a profit are notorious for neglecting the animals. Sounds like this place is among them. thank you for trying to help this poor creature! :)
I'm a dog trainer in North Wales Police I do it in my spear time as a voluntear, I am also in collge Llangrillo. I work in Theatre Colwyn during the weekend. So in other words. I work alot around animals, I have a german shepard named Tara, she's lovely if a bit odd in the head. I also have a rabit named Rodolf, a cat named Gizmo and finally I swear we also have a gremlin somehwere in my room (I call him Harry because I found him when reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows lol) My dog is perhaps the most kindest soul ever, when someone cries she instantly goes over to them and starts licking them on their land and if they don't stop she'll cry to. Poor thing. Rodolf likes carrots which is really helpfull rather then throwing the wasted carrots away. Gizmo likes rolling around on the carpet and if you sit still for too long he'll jump onto your lap and lol he's heavy. It gives me a dead leg. As for the gremlin...
He likes playing on my playstation2, I don't mind lol but he leaves my room a mess so I have to clean it lol. Good thing I'm neat:)

My cats, once in a while get in the trash... They seem to love chicken, and since I make a lot of it, there are times they will get into the trash.. (Or should I say RJ!) RJ is funny, we named him after "Over The Hedge", after the raccoon, that always was would get himself, and everyone else in trouble! RJ, thinks he can just help himself to dinner! At least that is a way I can get the kids and my boyfriend to the dinner table! God forbid, they are off their computers, or Xbox for a half an hour to eat their dinner! If they don't hurry RJ will enjoy their dinner for them! That is awesome that you have a blind dog! Your a really special person to do that... : )

I told you about my kitties... So, I reading a book, finished it and went into the bathroom to wash my face and brush my teeth. No matter what kitties toys we get our cats, they soon loose interest in the toys. So, I must have accidentally left the drawer in the bathroom a little open with the Q-tips in them. So, my "kitties" some how manged to get about twelve of the Q-Tips out of the drawer and onto the floor. Out of all the things kitties can play with what is up with Q-Tips? None of them loose interest in Q-Tips! I find them all over the place. If I put them in the trash, they find them and fish them out!? It is the funniest thing, and all of them love them!
Even toys with catnip in them don't interest them.. But give the group of them a Q-Tip and their entertained for hours! I go through Q-Tips like you wouldn't believe.. Oh, and the other thing that they love is the toilet paper! (I think it is RJ, the trouble making one!) Nothing like going into the bathroom and finding toilet paper shredding into small unusable pieces. I guess you cannot tell a cat you cannot do that because we are in a recession!

Ya, the drill Sergent's daughter was a real ###. She mud wrestled with one of the wanna be sorority sisters, after the girl took a swing at her for all the abuse the girl was forced to endure. That turned into an all out mud wrestling contest, in which girls clothes were removed... Finally the drill Sergent had the poor wanna be head in the mud, and the other pledges, pulled the poor girl out. Than the drill Sergent's daughter, aka the tormentor, was
prancing around in the mud yelling she was the winner, and nobody better mess with her! She went into the middle of the mud hole, and ended up sinking into a sink hole! That just seems like a horrible way to die! I wouldn't even wish that on SP! LOL! Just joking SP! Trying to lighten things up! : )
I don't want to libel here, but I think Stealth got fat on welfare cheese (physically and mentally) and then rolled over 7 or 8 of the illegitimate kids she had as she let them sleep in the same bed as herself. Fortunately for SPilot these are usually just written off as SIDS, but I think Stealth really does feel the guilt and feels all the eyeballs on here when she is shopping on her Little Rascal or playing bingo (or god forbid holding me up at the gas station while she actually scratches off the lottery tickets at the counter while I stand waiting behind her to buy a gallon of milk). These times are rare though because she has taken up the uniquely specific cause of crusading against those "who makes accusations based on one visit to a store or one interaction with a person and goes online and posts character complaints about them." So maybe I'm wrong, but "I can smell BS from 20 paces (courtesy of the lexicon of SP)" . I just wanted to see how it felt to write one of her ridiculous phrases down and I actually had a good laugh. Considering the number of posts she has authored I recommend it to everybody. She'll probably threaten plagiarism litigation, but thankfully that is not criminal conduct nor is even close to what plagiarism is, but she has a little Johnny Cochran in her so don't get nervous when she starts to flex her muscle. I agree! It was some girls that wanted to get into a sorority. There "hell week", was done by a drill Sergent' daughter. She made the girls dig a mud wrestling hole, and come to find out it had a sink hole in it. It looked like a horrible way to die! So jello sounds good to me! : )

After reading the way you word things, I realized that I was wrong. I have been really emotional, because one of my beloved cat died. My parents had him, and I didn't get to say goodbye. I have nothing nice to say to you at all. I have read many of your posts, and you can be mean. Not everyone is well off. I do find it offensive that you feel everyone that is laid off because of the economy is lazy. I have tried to get a job, and it isn't easy right now. I have put in hundreds of applications, and it is very frustrating. I have friends in the same boat. Also, you sometimes assume people are lying. Sometimes people need to find because they feel angry about what happen to them. We are human, and we make mistakes that exacerbate the situation. Once in a while give people a break.

The funny thing is I am not controlling at all. My mom was, and it ended up hurting me, because I didn't have the life skills that I needed because my mom did almost everything for me. I want my children to think for themselves, to be able to know themselves. My mom one time got ticked that I encourage one of my son's dreams to become a cop, because he could be hurt. That is what he has wanted to do since he was five years old. It is a calling for him... Why would I stand in the way of his dreams because I am scared he might get hurt. That is selfish if you ask me...

LOL! You and your band of Sp loving goons are the ones that gain up on anyone with a different opinion other than yours. I do owe you an apology, because when your not under the influence of SP, you can actually give decent advice, and definitely not her. I should not have assumed that you were her. The problem with you, you didn't bother to read any of the other posts, and just piped in about how you like Sp and her stupid opinions. She has no idea how some pet stores are run, but just assumed that every pet store had animal loving owners. Which isn't always the case. When to many people disagreed with her, she than turned in the author of this post to the pet store. Than, after we exchanged emails that were hateful, she disregard all responsibility for her own behavior. And turns me in for spam. Which is the actions of someone with the maturity level of a kindergarten.

I am actually very happy! I have an awesome boyfriend, good kids, and soon going to get engaged. I am able to spend lots of quality time with my children, and family. Soon, I will be planning my wedding and going back to school.
I do like the author of this very much, and respect her opinions because I am an animal lover too, and have been my whole life. I believe what she says, and offered her my respect. Unlike SP, I have worked in both a pet store, volunteered at an animal shelter, and worked at one. So, I think I am more qualified in this to understand what goes on at some pet stores.
I think she is a liar, has no regard for anyone. If everyone was like her, than compassion, love, and understanding would cease to exist. Maybe you should take a long look at what she writes, and the pain and hurt she causes. Just for the thrill of causing drama.
At the end of the day, do you want to be like someone as hateful and unhappy as SP? For anyone to spew that much hate, she has to be really unhappy, and the type of girl that beat up the weaker kids for their lunch money in school. Is that how you are too? I think SP must have a dart board with : "single mom, poor person, uneducated person, food stamp recipient, disable person". And that is how she decides which posts she will nail with her hatred!

My weekend was good. Saw a couple movies with the boys! My boyfriend worked most of the weekend, so that was a bummer. But, I had a nice dinner and movie with two of my kids, and made the best of it. Saw some really good movies though, I love action adventure, love stories, scary, and sappy. Since I had the boys it was action adventure. Where I live, there are several discount theaters, so that is where I have been taking them lately. I think, because of the state of the economy, that a lot of people prefer the cheaper ones. The important thing is that I spent time with my kids. Besides what I told you about, things are good...

My kitties are RJ, who is a gray tabby, and named after the raccoon from "Over The Hedge", he is a trouble maker but a total lover. Keylala, which is my son's cat, she is a Siamese mix, and has the attitude of one! She only loves my son, and sleeps with him at night, very cute, accept when she stares at you... My kitty is Chloe, she is a pastel calico. She is a sweetie, but on the jumpy side.
What are the names of your dogs and rats? I had a friend that loved rats. I have had hamsters and a snake... But never a rat, I heard they make good pets though.

You turn in TomorrowsDream6 for making slanderous statements about the pet store, and I am "harassing"you, so you turn me into the webmaster. Though, you defend a racist, that stated that a black man should be hanged for kissing a white girl on a commercial. Stating that The First Amendment, protects him for his beliefs and his opinions. This is our opinions, and I shared my opinion. But, if anyone calls you on your lack of compassion, cruelness, how you like to start drama, how you enjoy belittling people that are struggling, you are full of threats. Why don't you fight your own battles besides trying to "get" everyone in trouble. You act like a kindergarten that sucks up to the teacher in order to get everyone in trouble. You crusading as the purveyor of truth and justice who gets all the facts is a bit preposterous, since for one I don't believe you have visited the store in Kentucky on your own fact finding mission. Your black and white thinking, (among countless other reasons) rules you out as an unbiased third party.Stealth would you cares to explain your fact finding methodology? You don't get all the facts, you get the same ones everyone else here does, then you draw a line in the sand and attack all those that don't join you (i.e. everyone else). Your holier than thou opinion of yourself is another reason you are not to be taken seriously. Everything falls onto a spectrum, yet you think only in black and white. Furthermore, you really need to read up on the law, libel cases are incredibly difficult to win for the plaintiff. This case would be thrown out prima facie. They certainly have every right to come on here and defend themselves, but actual litigation is out of the question. I do enjoy your posts though.
