PECO Bad wires

On Thursday, 11/19/2009 at 3 am in the morning I herd a poping sound outside. When I looked out the window I saw the electric wires along my neighbors row house on fire and making a poping noise. I immediately called PECO and was assured that they would send someone out. Well, its been 4 days now Monday 11/23/2009 and still no Peco and also my neighbor whos wires are involved called them. Their electric is going off and on. I hope that they do not catch fire again. Peco service sucks. I am going to try to choose another electric company. They are ###s. Frustrated in Wissinoming Philadelphia.

PECO Billing

Peco received two different checks, from two different people in the same envelope to pay for a bill. One check was cashed by them, and the other was not. They are requiring a copy of the canceled check to show payment; however, obviously there can be no copy of the canceled check because the check was never received by the bank in order to cash it. So what the heck happened to the other check? It was in the same envelope as the one that WAS cashed! They refuse to admit that they lost it. How am I supposed to show a canceled check if I don't have it?

PECO Frustratingly incompetent service

I moved from a house into a new apartment on April 1. The electric and gas were already on so I called PECO to have service put into my name at the apartment and to have service terminated at my house on April 30. It turned out that the previous tenant had left a large unpaid balance, so they asked me to fax in two forms of ID and my lease to their Revenue Management department. I did this on April 3.

I called on April 7 for an update. They confirmed that they had received my paperwork and that they had to continue their investigation before they could transfer service into my name. I was told that it typically takes 3-5 days and to call back towards the end of the week.

I called on April 10 and was again told that my paperwork had been received, but that it was still being processed. The woman I spoke to was unable to tell me when I could expect to get service. She took my phone number and said I'd get a call back, which I didn't. When I got home that day, I found a shutoff notice addressed to the previous tenant and, sure enough, I didn't have any electricity.

I called the next morning and the woman I spoke to said that my order had been put in wrong. It had been put in as additional service, not a transfer. She tried to get somone in PECO's resolution department to see if I could get my service turned back on today, but was unsuccessful. She sent them an email and said to call in if I didn't get a call back by noon.

Sure enough, noon arrived and no call. I called PECO again and was told again that my paperwork had been received, that it hadn't been processed, that she couldn't give me an estimate as to when it would be processed, that there was nobody else I could talk to, and that if I gave her my phone number, someone would call me back. Unsurprisingly, nobody called.

I understand that PECO's trying to reduce fraud, but what they're doing just defies common sense. I'm a longtime PECO customer who pays his bills on time and I'm applying to take over service from a person who didn't pay their bills. If PECO had just left the service on until their "investigation" was complete, they'd have a happy customer and some revenue coming in on a location which was losing them money.

About one year ago I purchased a home as a bank owned property. All utility services or shut off when I received the home. I had the electric and water turned on immediately without any problems. The gas line had to wait because we did not have everything hooked up and missing shutoff valves. About three months later honey, we installed the necessary shut off valves and appliances for gas. Now peco wants us to pay $1700 to have the gas line turned on. They said that they need to replace the line running from the street to the house because the service had been off for 1 year. Not only that, but $1700 is discounted from $3400. I am in the business as a flipper and this is the 5th time I have bought a house to flip and never ran into this before. As I know it. Lines running into the house is not my responsibility. But regardless of that, why would they need to replace a line just because the gas has been shut off for one year? I think peco is trying to pull a fast one on me. What do you think?

I am new to PA and moving into my apartment Saturday. PECO was supposed to put the electric back into the landlords name after the previous tenant had moved out as they have done for 25 years he said. Well the shut off the electric and said there was a balance due but the previous tenant had their service transferred to his new address and was on a monthly plan with them. After almost 5 hours of conversations with PECO reps and 1 supervisor, all giving different information I finally got my documents emailed to PECO on the 28th. Today on the 30th they finally said they received them however can't say if I will have electric on Saturday when I move! No hot water, no stove, no fridge and no lights. Thank GOD it's spring or there'd be no heat either! I even told them I have a 6 month old and no where to go. They don't care. Said there is no way to expedite service. Why can every other company do your background check with in 10 minutes and they can't? And our of everyone I spoke with only 1 was nice and helpful everyone else acted like I was bothering them and wasting their time. I think they take advantage that they're the only game in town. Customer service at it's worst.

I have been having an issue with my PECO bill for over two years. I was late a few times and they keep adding multiple amounts to each bill under deposit. Whenever I make a payment, it is never deducted from my balance. I just see a Thank you for your payment, but it does not go anywhere. Each month more multiple deposits are added and my bill gets larger and larger. My payments seem to go nowhere. Who can I speak with about this and how do I get this cleared up? I am extremely frustrated.

My power was shut down because of an existing balance in the account. My parents were own upto $4400.00. I called Peco and made the whole payment. I pleased with them to turn on the light and gas but they refused. One of the consumer service was very rude to me, she told me that my power will be restored in a week or two weeks time. I explained to them I had a baby in the house and a pregnant woman, but I was talking to a deaf ear. PECO should have another competitor because what they doing is not fair.

Bottom line what is PECO going to do without hardworking paying customers, because there are many people who scam and get away with it but do they go after them, NO. Sure they provide service with the one program they offer to low income families "LHEAP" that's not enough I have to keep hearing BS every time I try to send in my pay stubs when they ask for them, going downtown every time I speak to F**K UP Representatives that doesn't know what their talking about and don't deserve a F*****G JOB, let alone the electricians. It boils my blood to know that they want to keep me as a customer and this is the way I'm treated and my family, it's like they got it out for me and as soon as I find an alternative resource I'll be more than happy to post this and spread it with my fellow PECO victims. In conclusion, F**K PECO and all it's rotten employees along with the spoiling ones, and to the good ones that lurk in the shadows doing your job, I appreciate you even if your P***y A** boss don't. P.S F**K PECO!

For the 10+ years of PECO service I have from time to time been late on my bill. Tried the payment set up to help with getting back on schedule. Paid the 5 months of this bull ### payment plan that never kicked in because I did not pay the full current amount due. My husband was sick earlier this year and needed oxygen. I had his nurse call so my service would not be interrupted. At the time I was current, and they told me I was not allowed to go through with the medical emergency at that time. Well, two months later I found myself behind and they shut my service off, no notice or anything. My husband had to go to the hospital so he could receive oxygen. I paid the bill before the shut off date and they told me that it did not matter at that point. A third party is the one who is responsible for shutting off the service even though I paid. I was already in the computer to be shut off and there isn't anything they can do. Three days no service. I only owed 121 dollars. I then started to see a deposit on my bill. Where did this come from? I printed all of my bills for the last 12 months and started calculating what I paid. I then called customer service spoke to a supervisor and we went through the bills and both of us found 400+ dollars that went into thin air and was never applied to my balance. I filed a complaint with a man who had no idea what he was doing. Needless to say I am still trying to find that money and plan to appeal the decision. My husband passed away and now my bill is on track so I thought. Now I have a 500 dollar deposit for paying late. Well, I paid late for the last few years and never had a deposit. It is crazy to me that I finally can afford my bill each month and now they tack this payment on and I am right back where I started. What crooks how can they do this. They should be looking at all the low lives that are getting away with 10$ payments on 5000 dollar bills. The policy is if your late for 3 months they have the right to add a deposit, well what about the last 3 years that I was late? How come when I catch up they do it, shadddddddddyyyyyyy.

Wow...reading these complaints does not amaze me. For 2 years I dated a guy that worked for PECO (he worked there 8 years and still does). It doesn't surprise me that these workers take forever to get to their calls being as they often are asleep or doing other activities on the job that other employers would fire your [censor] for.
More than once he had parked his PECO truck behind a local bar for a few beers while waiting to get another call and on one particular occasion there was a terible storm and the power actually went out in the bar we were at...he continued to drink until PECO finally called him in for service. There have been numerous times where he would leave in the morning for work and come home a couple hours later and go back to bed. He has gotten calls while we've been home watching movies and took his sweet old time getting to them. Nobody really monitors these guys at all, and he was salary and "worked" a ridiculous amount of overtime. I've seen his paychecks (for 2 weeks) get close to $4, 000.00 before. To answer CARRIER245's question...he was getting paid $64 an hour! This is where all your money goes! Now, I'm certainly not saying that they are all like this, but I know the one that I dated was. He didn't care about his job at all and he thought it was funny going to do shut offs at peoples houses. Needless to say, we are no longer together and low and behold...he left me with an unpaid $400 PECO bill and a notice that if it wasn't paid in 10 days I'd be shut off. He later told me that he would have loved to get the call to come and shut off my power.

I have been in the area since just before January 2010. I have PECO service. I was a little late on my bill, my electricity has never been shut off nor had I received a shut off notice. I did however receive a letter stating that if I was late again a deposit would be added to my bill. Still no shut off or shut off notice and notice. I am just running a little behind. Then I receive a bill for almost $400 which included a $150 deposit. I paid my bill, but not the deposit and received a new bill with the $145 deposit and a $75 deposit. Are they kidding? If I am running a little late on my bill why would I all the sudden have an extra $370 plus my $190 bill for hottest month on record. I leave my thermostat on 75 degree and we live in an all electric apartment. So now are they going to cut off my electricity for not paying a deposit, can they... I just don't get it. I was not charged a deposit up front, why now?

I had paid PECO and still had a balance. They came out to my property to shut me off. There was no 10 day shut off notice given. I showed the PECO guy my receipt showing I had paid. I had a balance yet of a few hundred dollars but I am only employed part time. The truck took off with the notice. 2 weeks later another worker came to the house threatening me with a can of maze that if I did not let him in to shut off service I would not be able to get it restored. This is a lie. I have a life threatening medical condition but he shut service off anyway. I had to wait days to get a doctor's appointment in order to have the doctor speak to PECO. They kept the doctor on the phone drilling her with 300 questions and when all was said and done they told me I was denied because the customer service rep who took the info messed up. The doctor then had to fax over documents. I had to call PECO 6 times. They have to restore service after a medical note is received. They waited 27 hours to come out. They only way they were going to come out here is because I threatended them. They keep getting away with this stuff because they are a monopoly and can't be sued. People need to start filing more complaints with the PUC and find other means of power if possible. Oh, to top it off. They are charing me $75 to turn service off and $75 to turn service on, plus $250 in deposit money. Do their line men really make that much per hour? They came inside my house and placed a bolt on my meter.

How can peco take a $2720.00 deposit off a business customer that had already been doing business for 5 years and never had service disconected and whose owner has been a customer for 20 years with out being disconected residentually. On top of that has ran another business for 11 years without any problems. Another "kick the little guys in the ###', the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. It ain't right!

Why does PECO lie and tell customers (me) that the security required to turn service on will be refunded in 12 months turn...providing that you donot pay your bill late...ex. My bill began 11/11/13 and i thought at least by 12/11/14, I am suppose to get my security deposit back but no I have to wait until 3/2014 or 4/2014 ... this is untruth dealings

I have been waiting for a response to damage done to our home at 1056 Chestnut Street, Darby, PA 19023 while the PECO staff installed an exterior meter; for easier access. The individuals responsible for the change asked permission to do the change as it would make it not only easier to read for the purposes of billing, but in the event of an emergency, it would also make it easier to turn off service in the event of flooding. We live in the 100 year flood plane so there have been times when service was necessary to be turned off so that there would not be any emergencies from gas leaking as a result of flooding. The other part of the problem occurred when the workers removed shrubbery and landscaping outside of the property to install the meter. As a result of the timing of such a 'landscaping project' the shrubbery that has been there since before 1999, did not make it through the winter, and the surrounding landscaping as well.

To add to that situation, someone claimed that we had moved from our address and the PECO grant for LIHEAP, COMPASS Registration Number [protected] which was sent to me in September, immediately after the September payment for LIHEAP was sent to PECO. This grant was rejected because of someone claiming that we had moved out of our home. I have been frantically trying to re-establish the service for our home since the lack of heat has caused pipes to freeze and water damage to our property as a result of a lack of heat from October until present. Consequently, I presented to the Customer Service Center to correct this problem. In addition, we had two water heaters installed in this residential property since 2010 as a result of flooding, and one new furnace. I requested credit for these new appliance under the Smarthomes/Smartideas program, however, no credit has been provided up to date. Therefore, I am requesting some intervention from your staff to resolve this problem. I received a phone call on or about April 16, 2014 to continue with the processing of this complaint, however, I have not received any further information since the phone contact is not mine but was the phone number of Steven Ramdial, who may have re-directed the phone call or the address information. He is under psychiatric care and was a part of the excessive costs associated with this property as I have been his Caregiver since October of 2012. I am awaiting resolution of this problem... I would appreciate a quick response since Springtime is the best time to begin landscaping projects and not just before Winter sets in.

PECO Bad service

I am a land lord and PECO energy came to my duplex to inspect a complaint on the bottom floor that the electric was too high. I saw the inspector arrive but I had to leave. Before I left I was told PECO would contact me if there was any issues . A couple days later the bottom tennant's girl friend told me one light bulb on the first floor was on the seconds electric. PECO never contacted me but 2years 3 months later gave me a $7000. electric bill. Although I am a current customer for my own residence they could not find me. After much research I found out that they put the entire top floor electric in my name but never contacted me. This was all due to one light bulb.

It seem PECO can do whatever they want. They were sending the mail to the incorrect addess and they will not take any part of the bill. I filed an informal complaint with PUC but so far I haven't gotten anywhere. Peco has only given me one bill in May of 2008 and has refuse to answer my certified letters to what their position is.

How could they not find me when I was current customer of theirs.

if you can help give me a call.

PECO is not the electric company of years long ago. It is Exelon. In 1974, I joined the Philadelphia Electric Company (original) as an employee. I enjoyed my job. At that time, the company was not perfect but it worked for its service area. Today, it is Exelon, a management company. They are like the mob with the PUC as it enforcer. There is a revolving door between PECo Energy and PUC. During the period for which I worked, the PUC made sure that PECo service its customers with pride, fairness, and equality. Now, the PUC is in bed with them. My service is in my husband's name and they charged a deposit because they reportedly cannot find any record of him. Surprisingly, he worked for them too during the same time that I did. Yet, they cannot pull up a credit report. They have charged three deposits to my account. There is no policing of them. Utilities SHOULD NEVER BE PRIVATELY OWNED! If so, we get exactly what PECo Energy gives its customers. If they don't want you, they don't have to service you. Disgraceful. But, let's salute our politicians for agreeing to this mess. New Jersey was smart enough to keep Exelon out. Our politicians are crooked and greedy. Now, if PECo Energy wants certain area to be in the darkness, they can. They economically discriminate against people.

I am a former PECO customer who changed residences in 2005. The family member I lived with had to switch the utilities from my name to hers so that I could move on and into my new residence. My bill turned out to be close to $4, 000 once she made the switch. I suspect that there may have been something wrong with the meter but how can I prove it all these years later? She still resides at the same address. Is there anyway to receive a history of payment report regarding this bill? PECO has been denying me service since I moved out of my apartment on Septemer 13 of 2006. And a few days later, September 16, 2006, they sold my account to a collection agency. I filed an informal complaint with the PUC in September of 2009. I was homeless at the time on a search to find an apartment. The PUC didn't investigate my complaint until February 2010 and they came back with a decision of denial just a few days ago. Can PECO energy still deny me service although I'm facing possible termination of my lease behind their decision? Although I make a little over 18, 000 a year I don't qualify for any low income assistance. I am at the end of my rope with 30 days to figure out how to get power. Is there help out there for me?

PECO are idiots. They gave me a $500 deposit when I had perfect credit with them and I was a bit late on paying that portion off...but paid my bill in full each month... NO notice, no letter but came home on a Fri night after work to find the note and NO power. I paid it in Full on Fri but they didn't open til Monday so they start the 72 hours FROM WHEN THEY FELT LIKE IT, it has been 5 days since I paid my bill in full and I still have three more days to wait they said. They can offer me NO information on when or if my electricity will be back on this wk. What a bunch of jerks.

peco can do what ever they want and they leave you in the dark and kick you when your down, even if you had an account with them at the same residence for over 20 years, and ran a business without ever a disconnect! It's amazing that they would keep your service up without collecting on such a outrages amount of money!

PECO Overcharging

I have "Electric Residential Service CAP Opt D" which is a State funded assistance program. My budget plan payment has been $49.00 all year, which has always been paid on time. Octcber's bill, however was $120.00. Twice, I called them. The first time I could not get through. The second time, I got through, but after 12 minutes on hold, got disconnected. I was away a few days and when I returned I had a letter telling me I was past due and had to pay the bill immediately or be dropped from the CAP rate program. I sent in the bill the next morning, hoping they would make the adjustment, and knowing I would have to try and conntact then again after the next bill comes. Well the next bill did came only a few days later, and its for $584.29. They didn't even give it time enough to receive my check. I called them again, got through to only their computer, which tells me, after 21 minute on hold, that they received my $120.00 and have applied it to this month's bill and that I still have to pay the balance of $464.26. I am an older man in my early 60's and on disability. This is why I qualify for the CAP program. I can't pay this bill, that is in error, and PECO shows no inclination to want to fix the matter. Their Customer Service is a joke. There is no one in their billing dept. that knows how to do their job, nor cares to. And, their computer phone service is atrocious.

Can anyone explain this to me? Because PECO cant. We live in a tiny 3 room apartment, one bedroom. How is our bill consistently $800 a month?
That is 735% higher than the average PA household. PECO says there is no issue, we're using this much electricity? This is without heat or AC by the way.

I am a CAP opt E subscriber ::: my bills have gone from about $30 $40 per month to $599 this month. What the hell? I am Sr. citizen, SS check is about $700 a month. If I could live without electricity, I would read by bonfire or candle light. I understand the cost is up but come one, be realiztic, not 1000% Is there any way out of this? I live by muself, only luxury is baseboard heating. Should I opt to freeze to death? Anyone have an answer to any of this bull [censor]?

PECO Service

After paying most of a past due bill (hey we're struggling to make it too) in response to a termination notice, PECO disconnected our power without warning over roughly $70 in past due charges. We're a single income family of six making less than the PUC poverty level average and these cats turn out our lights? I admit that I did not pay the full amount but I have been paying monthly to try and keep up with the bill. According to the letter they left on our door when they turned off the power, the PUC mandates they must be notified if anyone making below the minimum poverty point is in danger of being disconnected. The PUC did not have any such notification from PECO. Now my family and I are in the dark for the night, I have a mid-term to study for and my kids cannot even bathe or do their homework. But hey, the public utility company will be advertising during the Phillies game tonight (which i wont be watching- thanks!) and at every Flyers game. I don't understand why you have to advertise if you have no competition. I realize I wasn't exactly current but come on, am I the worst of your problems? I'm voting McCain but if Obama gets in, I sure hope he redistributes PECO's wealth to us little guys struggling to keep food on the table. Don't spend it all on one commercial PECO...

PECO Failure of duty to provide policy transparency as a public utility provider

Peco had refused to add me to the account at the property rented by my fiancé and I because my Social Security Number is not on the Equifax system (having never had a debt or owned a credit card). On making further inquiries I was told that I should visit a PECO location at my inconvenience with identification and pay a fee in order to confirm my identity and be added to the account, despite pointing out to them that they have been banking checks in my name on this account for 6 months (and all were paid on time).

I took exception to being asked to pay for the privilege of becoming a customer while there is no alternative to this essential public service purely because they are unable to employ a sufficient method of checking identity. I have not asked them to waive this fee, but simply to explain their policy.

As a public utility provider it is PECO's duty to respond to any public request to explain policy decisions as they are licensed by the Public Utility Authority and as such are a publicly accountable company.

Despite being given ample opportunity to explain themselves they have continued to avoid the issue and my plea for them to justify an unfair policy (that taxes those who have been careful to live within their means) has fallen on deaf ears. Customer services wrote, 'I am not in a position to justify any policy' and on asking them to pass the complaint to someone who could I received no reply.

This is a gross failing of a public duty that contractually and morally binds PECO through the privileges they enjoy in being awarded a public supply contract (a licensed monopoly).

I refuse to back down on this small but principled issue as without accountability for their actions, a licensed public utility provider becomes little more than a licensed mafia, able to withhold public services at will and impose charges on a whim! They must be prepared to fully back all policy decisions with reasonable and accountable explanation, no matter how insignificant.

PECO has been pulling these ridiculous stunts and overcharging by absurd amounts for as long as I can remember. Can someone please explain to me how this monopoly is legal? There are a few little mom and pop electric distributors, but ultimately they get the power from...you got it, PECO.

We were in the rears and therefore on a payment plan with PECO. We missed a payment and received a 10 day shut off...fair enough. Called to find out what could be done to stop the shut off and be put back on the payment plan. They informed us that if we made a payment of $634.00 that all would be fine, and we'd be put back on the payment plan. We immediately paid $640.00 and received a confirmation # for the payment. Never received another phone call or mail in regards to the shut off. September 16th while cooking breakfast they shut us off. When asked why, as we fully complied to their demands and had the confirmation # which they acknowledge they received...Their reply...because we did not call them back and tell them that we made the payment. We were never informed that this was also a requirement of not being shut off. In my research in one day I have found 5 IDENTICAL complaints against them. A class action lawsuit does need to happen in these matters, that PECO should be required by law, to divulge ALL requirements in order to avoid a shut off. They are completely unwilling to work with myself and the others in my situation in spite of receiving the payments, and now want the bill paid in full along with disconnect/reconnect fees. I am at a loss, but strongly feel that their is a full disclosure case here. I am still researching how to make this happen.

PECO is scamming people everywhere.

I too was not getting bills from PECO... told them that.. had the same attitude- its my fault for THEM not providing a bill that I could pay.

Is now trying to charge me 120 a MONTH extra on TOP of late fees because I am a "credit risk" despite the fact that my account has a ZERO balance.

Something must be done. Their customer service people are RUDE and do not explain ANYTHING and talk over you when you say to them repeatedly that you do not understand why or how they are able to charge you particular charges. And get this- the women I talked to say they cannot provide me with an employee number or name or code name... okay so how am I supposed to reference back to something YOU told me on the phone... I can't think of ONE customer service company that there is NO way to identify who you are speaking to.

Class Action is right... I have the perfect lawyer for this.. I am sick of them walking all over us.

So I knew we were behind on our electric and things being tight here in perkasie, I had only paid $200 toward our Peco bill. Have received a couple red 10 day notices in the mail, but always paid enough or something to never run into an actual disconnect of power. So today I was home with my 3 year old when the electric went out (9am), so I call my husband. We owed $570. Not thousands, but $570. Shocked they'd even shut off for such a little amount (we've owed more). So we call and pay the full amount (after calling once and being told that we would have to call back because they have no record of our power being shut off ... Really). They tell us that it could take 24-72 hours to be put back on. That seems rather long when the guy has JUST here and it took him all of two seconds to turn it off! Thank god it's nice out, but seriously what about my fridge full of food? I'm so beyond annoyed that it could take so long to do something so simple!

I believe the time has come for a class action against PECO if there are any interested attorney's please know they are robbing their customers severly and I bet alot of people would join in and you would win the complaints are completely justified, it's time to put them in their place I don't mind paying what I owe it's the other charges that they won't send a bill for and won't explain that are getting ridiculous...

the worst service ever, bills make no sense, the charges come out of the air, you can use your electricity for 2 months in the same way and get the second bill twice higher, although you were not at home for 2 months.

I went with my friend to pay her grandmothers bill to the office. You know, just a regular walk in and pay in full thing last yr. (09). I asked the woman behind the counter that since my license was due to be re-newed, I was going to be renting a home in the next couple months, (I was leaving my boyfriend, didn't want him to know) so should I use what would be my new address on it, or the current one. She said, and I quote
"you should use the one you're moving into, why go through all the dmv stuff again if you don't have to?"..so i did.

I re-newed my license in Jan 09(my deed was made out for may, the people renting were moving, the landlord told me I better "snap it up" while I could.)

Ok, this is where it gets really ugly.

I moved in, went to have the service turned on, and was told that since my license tapped back to this address from 4 months earlier, I was responsible for the OTHER renters bill that they had skipped on! To the tune of, almost 3000.00! They refused to turn my elec. on! I finally, after 4 days of trying to call them every chance I got from work, got a supervisor who turned me on as a new customer...but wait.

2 months later...in June, and after keeping MY payments current...they tacked on that back amt. from the other renter again! They REFUSE to take it off! After more complaining, they then, get this, tacked on 300.00, for being a new customer! Ontop of the "old renters back bill"! (Make up my mind already!)What the h*ll kind of company is this!?

I told them, I refuse now to pay ANY bill, because what I would pay, went to the OTHER persons back balance, not MY current bill.

Isn't this illegal!?

My dad has cancer, I used 3 medical emergency papers, so we don't qualify for that. My Mom moved in, called annon, with a "just asking a question" thing, and they told her, she would be responsible for all previous delinquent elec. bills if it were put in her name! Whoever lived here before, if her license came back here, she was resposible for it.
her "new" bill, and this which is now a combo of previous renter & mine.

After her prodding about "what if i rented a room from someone weekly, does that still hold true if they don't pay?" YES! because even though she would be renting a room, WITH a lease by the WEEK, (to help me with my Dad, they're divorced), HER license would come back to "an unpaid address"!

WTF!? I'm being shut off in 2 weeks, with NO chance of getting it turned back on!
Gas & Water? Those other people owed them, but I wasn't held responsible for it. I need help, someone, please give me a different provider or advice or something. By the time I get back to this, I'm SURE, I'll have to walk to the library and use their computer because I won't have elsectric!

Thanks all, for letting me vent. I'm so sorry, but I'm really upset about this.Especially with my Dad being here & all, with no alternative.

Anyone know of any decent elec. providers in philadelphia? I'm about, to lose my mind..

PECO Disgusted and fuming with the service!

PECO Energy - www.exeloncorp.com

I made settlement on 9/26/07 - Wednesday

I called Peco a few days earlier concerning a lock that was placed on the gas due to the previous owner's lack of payment. A rep. told me to call the morning of settlement and it would be taken care of.

I called from settlement and stated that I would be done and at the house by noon on that same day. They said they would be there between noon and 5 pm to turn on gas and light pilot.

4:30 and no Peco. I call to confirm they are coming. They tell me that a field rep. was there at 10:30 that morning. I said impossible since I was still in settlement and told the woman on the phone that I wouldn't be there until noon and she confirmed that they would be on location between noon and 5.

I was told that they were there earlier and wouldn't be back in my location for 2 days until Friday. I have two small children and my wife and I are school teachers. We really need to take a hot shower. The woman on the phone told me that there is nothing they can do for me.

So they screw up and it is me that gets stuck with no hot water for 3 more days. I can't take off on Friday to sit around and wait for them, so it will have to be Saturday. The woman also stated that there wasn't a supervisor there to speak with.

This is simply amazing. I asked her if I didn't send a check for a few months and then said that I thought I did, would it then be their fault about not getting a payment? I highly doubt it.

This is a shame that I am starting a new account with this company and they are doing this to me and my family. I am typing this from my wireless internet which was turned on by a reliable company that showed up when they said they would.

I am disgusted and fuming about this. There isn't really a complaint area on their website so I guess we just deal with getting screwed by them.

I am the owner of 1701 Swede Rd Blue Bell PA 19422. I am trying to complete a job on my roof and the service line will need to be moved to do so. Why am I being told it will take 6 to 8 weeks before that can be done. That is unacceptable.

I have been experiencing power surges and it has done quite a bit of damage to my home. PECO has been very cavalier about the entire situation. After severals calls for service/attention and multiple trips to my house, tjeu have done nothing. One person claimed to be putting something on to monitor for power surges and outages and (while I had this once before and the apparatus is rather sizeable -- about as big as a portable car battery charger ) there is nothing visible. I called the man Jim Bork (not sure of the spelling of his last name) that was supposed to install this "thing" twice and inquired as to the whereabouts of it. I haven't received a return call. So I called the PECO supervisor, Yvette Arrington, who was allegedly taking care of the matter and she said she was in a meeting and would call me back in 10 or 15 minutes. I'm still waiting. My theory is that PECO is fully aware of the surges and their cause and they don't want to do anything to formally document them because they already know (as I told them) that they have don't a lot of damage to my home. The first surge blew out my heating and air conditioning system in zone two of my home; blew out my garage door opener, a light at the top of my house that is on a motion detector, some under cabinet lighting in my kidtchen, damaged speakers, and fried several light bulbs. The second surge blew out the receptacle in my room. My husband and I both lost a days pay having to wait for PECO and then be available to turn the power back on, etc. I was so frightened that my husband and I - with our dog - sat in our car in freezing temperatures in the middle of the night stupidly thinking that PECO would actually be responding to the emergency. They didn't show up until at least 6 hours later and our electrician was already there and had already confirmed the problem. This is a nightmare and I'm scared all the time. PECO could care less.

I am also a disgusted peco customer. I had a fall accident, leaving me barely walking. Peco never sent me a shut off notice, (they claimed they did, not true). They shut off my electric early in the morning. I called them and told them I've been injured, I paid my past due amount, with a $75.00 reconnect charge tacked on to it! Then they told me I had to wait 24 to 72 hours to have them reconnect it! I told them again, of my serious medical condition, they told me I had to have my doctor fax them of my health issues. I told them I am very unstable, and with the medications I'm on, I can not be without power in the evening. They told me I was approved of "medical necessity", however, they still tell me it could take up to 24 hours! I will be in the dark this evening! And they will not credit me my $75.00 "restoral fee"?!?! I will be contacting an attorney about this!
