Dear Panera Bread Corporate Team,
I am writing to formally express my concerns regarding several incidents at my former Panera Bread location that ultimately led to my decision to resign from my position.
The first issue occurred when the opening shift time was changed from 5:00 a.m. to 5:30 a.m. without any prior communication. As a result, I arrived at 5:00 a.m. as originally scheduled but was informed that I could not clock in and would need to wait the full 30 minutes. I reached out via the employee group chat, which includes both managers and team members, but my message was completely ignored.
In a separate instance, I spoke directly with the General Manager, Ms. Nia, about the possibility of maintaining a consistent schedule on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, as I also work a second job. Despite this conversation, I was scheduled to work Monday through Friday during the following week. When I reached out via text to Ms. Nia for clarification, I received no response.
Given the lack of communication and support, I made the decision to remove myself from the employee group chat and subsequently informed Ms. Cheyenne Miller of my resignation via text. I also blocked further communication from the General Manager.
I truly enjoyed being part of the Panera team and appreciated the opportunity to contribute, but these experiences made it difficult to continue under the current management structure. I wanted to bring this to your attention not only to explain my decision but in the hope that future communication with employees can be handled more effectively.
Thank you for your time and understanding.
Sincerely,
Janiah Andrea Thomas
