I recently had a terrible experience with OmanTel. I wanted to cancel my internet connection because I had to move houses. To my surprise, they demanded OMR 90, claiming my contract had been “renewed.” This was shocking since I took the connection six years ago and there was never any written contractual agreement or communication about a renewal. I was never informed or asked for consent when these new terms came into effect.
After several frustrating calls, I was forced to agree to a relocation instead of cancellation. OmanTel then sent an incompetent contractor from their broadband team who clearly had no idea what he was doing. He went to my old house, inspected the wrong DB, and completely wasted time. When he finally installed the modem at the new house, the signal barely reached two meters from the router.
The customer care service is horrendous — unresponsive, unhelpful, and unwilling to take responsibility. No clear answers, no accountability, and absolutely no professionalism.
After years as a loyal customer, this experience has been beyond disappointing. OmanTel seriously needs to review its customer service practices, contractor training, and transparency with clients.
Overall Rating: 0/5 — Never expected such poor service from a national provider
Recommendation: Use alternate service providers. Get everything in writing. OmanTel may claim you’re under a renewed contract even if you’ve been a customer for years without signing anything. Always demand written confirmation of terms and renewal dates. Avoid long-term commitments. If possible, go for month-to-month plans instead of fixed-term contracts to avoid unexpected charges or “renewal” penalties. Document every interaction. Keep a record of every call, email, and technician visit — you’ll need it if there’s a dispute later. Don’t rely on contractors. Most are outsourced and lack basic technical knowledge. Supervise the installation and test the connection before they leave. Test signal strength immediately. Don’t sign off until you confirm proper Wi-Fi coverage across your home. Expect slow and unclear responses. Customer service is generally unresponsive and evasive, so patience (and persistence) will be required. Explore alternatives. Before committing to OmanTel, check other available providers in your area. It may save you from the same frustration many customers face.
