September 23rd of 2024 we had a house fire. Insurance sends checks and they have our mortgage company Mr Cooper on them. WE endorse them and we send them off to them they sent us an initial portion of that money to get started. That was back in December. We did the first inspection with them for them to release funds in April of this year. It took us over a month that the house sat untouched for repairs for us to get that check in hand. Number one that's too long to make your clients wait. We received those funds and the contractor started working on June 3rd we requested an inspection. They finally allowed us to be on the schedule for an inspection on June 13th, it was their third party inspector that never even showed up. Another two weeks later they allowed us to be on the schedule for an inspection on June 27th. We were told once again just like the other time two to five business days for them to review that, 2 to 5 business days to write a check. But it takes 8 to 12 business days to get the check from there to here. So here we are six weeks into it and they still haven't even issued a check. This last inspection they decided that they wanted to have blueprints for some reason, so we sent that to them with a contractor's bid. Last Tuesday I was on the phone for an hour and a half asking the status of when they were going to send a check. A week later brings us to today they said on the phone today that they didn't have any requests for additional funds. My question is why? Why would anybody go through and do an inspection and beg for funds for 3 weeks and then say there was no request for funds. This is not the company to have in times of trouble. Me and my husband we have faithfully paid our mortgage company on time even early every month for almost 10 years when they bought it from our mortgage company. For all those years that we have been loyal to pay them what a slap in the face for them to act as if we can't be trusted with our money. I just don't see how this is legal. After that last inspection they said that we're only at 65% which I think that that's baloney we have to get up to 75% in order for them to release all of our funds. So even though I haven't received funds me and my husband will have to do this all over again and wait a whole another month plus. I would not recommend having Mr Cooper, there have been house fires after ours and the people did not have them as a mortgage company and they're already back home.
Recommendation: Avoid Mr Cooper at all costs
