MyLife review: scam 17

The people I wanted information on weren't the people I wanted and some had no record at all. Your site was ineffective and therefore I'd like to cancel my subscription to your service.

I have complaint w/ this site, mylife.com. I joined this site but i already deactivated it yrs ago. i want my name removed, date of birth, address, and relatives' infos. that can put us into vulnerable situations for being victims of identity thief, if it goes to the wrong hands.

I Was Charged $23.88 For something I did NOT sign up for

This website lures you in based on false information that they have information about people that are searching for you. Their registration and subscription system is misleading and tricks you into a long term subscription by calling it a "monthly Subscription" but bills you for an entire year. They offer no refunds on subscriptions ...this should be a big tell in itself ... but it is difficult to find this info until its too late!
They are a complete scam ...they tell you there are 10 people searching for you but in reality there are likely none... I am not sure how they have been able to operate this long ...not they were formally known as reunion.com but apparently shut down due to unethical practices... here they go again ... Please do not fall for this Scam as I did!

This is a scam type in other peoples names randomly and the same people are looking for everyone its fluff to make them look good. also the people i search for mistically become members the same day i did or searched for them. third and most important it is not free and billing is misleading, i.e. X amout of dollars a month for so many months and then charcing you the enire amount.

I'm looking for my old friends and had used Mylife.com, I thought I was using there service for free as they advertised but I was wrong they bait me to sign up and paid for their service just for me to view all its content on the website and when I did, they provided me useless information and got charge for a worthless service, A big scam, I bet they're earning a lot from this practice.

Got an email from mylife.com stating "Hi , See who's searching for your name! Click to see who. I ended up joining then cancelling. My credit card has been hit 8 more times since then. I google search my name, my mylife profile with my city and age come up along with the mylife account name (derived from my gmail email account name. I feel ripped off and violated. Is there any legal action (class action) being taken?

MyLife.com leads you to believe that it will give you all sorts of information about a person you are searching for, only to then say you have to pay a fee. Then, when you pay that fee, it doesn't include all the services, so they again direct you to another fee based option saying it will let you see who is searching for you. 44 people were "searching" for me. I didn't know a single solitary person on the list - a scam. DO NOT SIGN UP FOR MYLIFE.COM - ITS A TOTAL RIP OFF.

I opened an account and I signed up for one month for $13.95. I was immediately charged for 12 months at $143! Do not let this happen to you!

Mylife.com was constantly email me that a person name Ruby was looking for my wife. My wife has been on ancestry. com a bunch of times looking for 3 lost siblings one who's name is Ruby. For a month they kept sending these emails saying Ruby was looking into my wife's name and so I finally decided to let her check into it even though I recently lost my job because of my company closing and really didn't have the money. So we paid the 15 dollars and some change, logged on to find out you can not even see who's looking into you. Then my wife called a [censor]ed at them so they upgraded it for free so we could see who was looking into her to find out this person name Ruby was not even looking into to her at all. I blame myself for not researching this before I jumped into it but this website took information off ancestry.com to rip me off without my permission. I hope they rot in hell for breaking my wife's heart and scamming me out of money I do not have to WASTE on a GIANT SCAM. Thank you

This site is a scam. If you attempt to run any type of search, it sets up a free account which, without significant notice, then auto-renews the next month whether you wish it to or not. Of course, they tell you about the auto renewal a day after it renews and then indicate they can do nothing about t it.

Do not patronize these frauds.

THEN I discover they have MY email address connected to a FAKE NAME and the name they list as 'connected' to this person is CHRISTINA HOGAN HOSTETTER. The fake name is 'DONNIE HOGAN', AGE 46 (Christina's age, ironically) and home town, Buena Vista, VA (ALSO Christina's hometown)...Christina Hogan Hostetter was reported previously on Myspace for creating fake profiles and attempts to get into other people's profiles. In fact, this same person was being 'followed' by the State Police, along with an accomplice for stealing pictures and using them to create degrading profiles. MyLife.com is not a safe way to contact friends.

I had the exact same experience as described above. - it's a total bait and switch SCAM! They lure you in by making you think 4 or 5 people are searching for you, and say that for $9.95 you can get a one month subscription to find out who these people are that have searched your name. I took the bait and found that the "people" were totally bogus and it was a scam. I looked at my checking account statement few days later and they had charged my debit card $119.40 ! I called the phone number and they agree it was $9.95 per month for a 12 month subscription which is TOTALLY not what was displayed on the screen when you sign up... they will not cancel or refund... only option is to select they say is to pay for a 6 month, 3 month or 1 month... oh and by the way 1 month is $13.95... $4.00 more than the $9.95 that was a phony scam to identify people searching for you. So they're counting on people not going through the trouble of disputing the charge and "cha ching" they got me for $13.95 and refunded the $105 difference they charged... wonder how many thousands of people didn't notice ?

I agree. A few of us were looking at this site at work. I went home & looked at it myself. It is VERY upsetting to find out that somehow this site already has your full birthday, the names of your relatives and the places you've been in the past few years...how the hell did they obtain this information? you go back & try to get in & it asks for a password-well, I did NOT create one. i clicked on 'send password to email' went into my email & instead of finding it in my inbox I found it in my spam WHICH I KNEW BETTER NOT TO OPEN after having a conversation w/ my cousin (who's doing IT in the gov.) just told me this is how your info can get stolen WITH THESE VIRUSES!

I was charged by paypal for a membership to lifetime.com that I did not inituate at ALL ! I did get the charge taken off.
THEN I got a supposed email from a cousin of mine- who said she was in France, and had been robbed, and would I send her $2, 000! Said she'd pay me back when she got back into the States.
I've had litte to no communication with this second cousin- and she was not in France. So, there appears to be a lot of scamming associated with this site.
I HAVE no password with this site and gave no credit card info to anyone...but somehow, they got it!
The Paypal charge was the first time I had ever heard of Lifetime.com!
So, the scammed people are NOT to blame for this.

you gave them your email password when you signed up and you dont expect them to rip off your contacts?

you gave them your account/credit card information and you didnt expect them to rip you off?

use common sense people!

its not hard to understand, when you give out your passwords and credit card numbers you are asking to be ripped off.

change your email passwords and notify your bank and credit card company and cancel any payments that were taken without your permission.

the bank or credit card company should help you report the scammers and take care of the problem, if they dont then cancel your account cut up your card and start over.

dont be stupid, do your research and NEVER give critical information to anyone unless you know for a fact that it is safe to do so.
