I started the trial as I wanted to find my birth records, and I never found it! So this website is useless to me. They took £79 from my bank even though I thought I had cancelled the trial on the 4th of Jan, weeks before it ended. Check your records, because I have an email confirming this.

I requested a refund on their website, and their joke of customer service tried calling me, but when I picked up the phone, they hung up straight away! I called their number back promptly, only to be put through to a voice recording saying their customer service agent tried to reach me but was unsuccessful, and that they will try later. I've also tried calling their toll-free UK number to get through to a human being, but it is a complete joke. They asked me to record a voice message detailing my name, account number, and details related to my request for refund. So basically, I've been completely unable to speak to a human being from this company at all, even though I've made myself available. The irony is, it seems this company will not give a refund otherwise. What am I supposed to do?

If they refuse to refund me in full even if I have notified them within a 14 day cooling off period after they took my money, they're breaching the UK Consumer Contracts Regulations and thus committing a criminal offence.

This interaction with MyHeritage so far does not fill me with confidence at all. If they do not take swift action to resolve this issue, I will certainly take this up with the Trading Standards Officer to investigate this company's dubious policies. You cannot just take someone's money in the UK for goods and services provided online, and not give it back when a refund is requested within the cooling period of 14 days after the contract starts. This is the case, even if you put in info on your website trying to attribute blame to the consumer for not cancelling the trial on time. What you're doing is unlawful.

Claimed loss: £79

Desired outcome: Full refund
