refrigerator ice door flapping/control panel lights flashing
At 3:00 AM, was awaken by the sound of my refrigerator door opening and closing every 5 or 6 seconds. It continued until I stuffed a dish rag in the chute to quite the flapping.
I looked online and it seems that others have had this problem too - often times in the middle of the night! I called Amana and they said I should check my circuit breaker - which does not make ANY sense. Then they said that since I bought the refrigerator in 07, there is nothing Amana can do now that it is 2016.
That is fine, I guess. I understand where they are coming from, but what really burns me up is the $642 repair quote! Fortunately I found a site where someone with the same problem resolved it for less than $30! I am going to try his repair this evening.

I do remember mentioning to my wife that Amana/Maytag have phenomenal customer satisfaction ratings. I wonder if it has changes due to this stupid failure of 2 capacitors on the refrigerator control board.
Well, got to get back to throwing away food.
dryer brovos
Four and a half months old and the start switch is broken. The worst part though is the customer service is of lower quality than the product. Over two hours on the phone with Maytag only to be handed off to a local vendor that their service has been out sourced too. I call the local vendor, only to find out:
1. Maytag did not pass on all the information on the problem.
2. The service window is TWENTY FOUR hours.
3. After telling the vendor the most likely broken part (the start button), they say the service rep WILL not have one with him, but I have to let him diagnose the problem first before their will order the part.
4. A second Service call.
I will get back to you when and if the Maytag dryer ever works again. I am old enough to remember the old Maytag ads with the repair deeply desiring to have something construction to do. Forget the commercial. Maytag is no longer the quality company it once was.
maytag bravos xl washing machine
Purchased 2 yrs. ago. The technician was just over and said the main bearing is shot. When it was in spin cycle it sounded like a load of gravel was in there. For $250 he can get a new one and fix it. Yeah, he said, a lot of problems with this.I have a friend that had the exact same model and it came out of the box like that. She got a new one. I will NEVER buy another Maytag or anything from it's parent company again or East Towne- Wautoma, WI. Everything we have bought from them goes to hell before it's time. Where is the government watchdog for this crap? Do Not have unlimited funds. SO DISGUSTED!
I purchased the same model on 10/ 16 almost two years to the date, the bearings are gone. Cost of repair: $400.00. I am in contact with Maytag to find a resolution. They offered me a similar one with 30% off. That would be the same price as paying for a repair. I refused and contacted the attorney general's office of MA. I will not rest until I receive a satisfactory resolution. All four technicians I contacted told me to get a new one . What a rip off.Now I am going out to purchase a new one.
product
The refrigerator is only over 1 year old and all the wall inside are cracking and the drawers and shelfs. Is very poorly made. My old one was 5 years old and this never happened.
I was to see if there any way that they can replace it.

maytag refrigerator and washer
I bought my refrigerator, stove, washer and dryer all at the same time. So you know I spent a lot of money on all four items. I have owned them for five years now. About my refrigerator. ..the drawers, plastic pieces continue to break off and some of the drawers don't open! The refrigerator was making a loud screeching noise, I had to have that fixed. That cost. .over $200. Now the ice maker just stopped! ! I replaced the filter, checked the waterline etc... Still nothing. Now the washer. I had to have someone come out and fix it. The berrings were going! ! Now six months later it's making the same noise again. I paid over $5000 for all four appliances as I thought maytag was one of the best. I am embarrassed when I have company and they go into my refrigerator and something breaks off. It is only my husband and I. I am very upset about this and would like you to fix or replace these to products you represent as top of the line. You can contact me. Susan Biondo [protected] or at [protected]@gmail.com. I would appreciate a quick response. Thank you
I also purchased a Maytag bundle - Fridge, microwave, oven/stove top; dishwasher, washer & dryer. After five years the only thing that was still working was the fridge and dryer. The stove top works but not the oven. The warranty was expired. I did buy extended warranty for washing machine so we fixed the washer a few times while under warranty but it kept breaking and soon it was out of warranty. We spent so much money $5K for the bundle and saved a long time to be able to purchase what we thought were higher end quality products. We're very disappointed and can't afford to buy new appliances. We've learned to live without. We saved up for another washing machine and purchased a Whirlpool and again it broke after two years warranty expired. Now I see that Maytag and Whirlpool are the same company. Darn! Maytag & Whirlpool I hope you're reading these posts; you should be ashamed by the lack of quality and how much you charge for these products. I thought by paying more I was getting a better quality product. Boy was I wrong.
quality and continual repairs
I have a Maytag Dishwasher model MDB7749SAB1 purchased and installed by Lowe's. I have had to replace the control panel 3 times and none were under warranty over the 40 months I have owned this dishwasher. This is not an inexpensive part and service call. Whirlpool/Maytag says that they will log my concerns in their system. That really does not help anyone thinking about purchasing a Maytag appliance. I was a Maytag fan but they are not what they use to be. Don't be fooled by their reputation or advertising. They don't last and Whirlpool customer service does not help at all.
I also have a Maytag dishwasher less than 3 years old and the control panel no longer works. My old dishwasher was a GE and lasted for 13 years with no problems. Looked for the serial number to get a new control panel and it doesn't even exist (MDB7749AWB1). No way to talk to a live person, which is absolutely ridiculous. Guess complaint's and problems are so high they just don't deal with customer's. I have bought the last Maytag product in my lifetime and will make it public to as many people as possible.
maytag refrigerator 14 days out of warranty
I purchased Maytag Refrigerator for $1079.10 as well as a 4 year extended warranty.
I called Maytag to get a concession for a repair bill since my warranty is only 14 days out of warranty. Actually it may be less if I subtract the days I had to wait for delivery.
To my dismay Maytag will not give any concession in this matter at all.
It is a sad day when one pays this much for a Maytag Refridgerator and the top part is not cooling.
We bought a MAYTAG fridge Mod. MF12665XEM8, Ser.# K32014913 three years ago, this week began leaking water from the bottom. I was unable to pull-out and disengage the freezer drawers to try to find out the problem and I had to call a Tech. Rep since the unit was still under an extended warranty.
According to the Tech Rep. the drainage was clogged since any minuscule matter could clog the hole. Surely enough with hot water and air-pressure it was unclogged.
The interesting thing was that in order to reach the drain area the freezer drawer has to be removed and to do that it is necessary to remove screws from the front section, remove two plastic parts, (which are very easy to break), from the small wire drawer track plus more screws in the tracks of the main drawer. The only question that came to mind was: WHY, WHY and WHY?!?!?! If any liquid or for a simple cleaning of the freezer bottom is desire, the above procedure is necessary. DOES IT MAKE ANY SENSE TO SPEND 30-45 MINUTES DISASSEMBLING THE DRAWER FOR A SIMPLE CLEANING!?!?!
As far as the Tech Rep was concerned it was an unnecessary and idiotic system for something that the customer would have been able to do with a few and simple instruction over the phone where because of so many parts screw down the way it was it couldn't be done unless somebody knew where all the screws were located.
Another problem faced during this incident is the location of the Information Label which was placed under the Ice Unit where the only way to get the information is taking a photo with the Cell-phone, and later increase the image to determine the information? Did anybody in this company ever thought of putting such important Information Label in a easy and visible area of the fridge such as: where the AMERICA label is located on the side of the fridge. Is it the AMERICA label more important than the Information Label?!?!?!
By having this experience it tells me that this company have the Design and Mechanical Engineers either don't giving a crap of how things end up with the customer, and/or to hell with easy-friendly ways to deal with parts of the fridge which should be able to be removed without having to go through a process which most likely most people won't do and then forced to call for an expensive repair service for a simple problem.
Maybe the people who designed and decided how to do things with this fridge, when they finished manufacturing the first units, should have them send it over their own home and tried out so they had the first experience in dealing with the BS your customers have to deal with when something "simple" goes wrong.

dishwasher
My Maytag dishwasher was new in 2009. It was the subject of a recall in 2010 and the recommended repair was made. The recall related to the control panel. In 2014 the replacement control panel went bad and was replaced at my own expense ($96.75). Now the control panel doesn't work again. The repair company says it's out of warranty so I would have to pay to replace it again. It seems to me that they are just replacing one faulty part with another of the same so this is not a long-term solution. I am a retired widow on a fixed income. I cannot afford to keep repairing this product, nor can I afford to buy a new dishwasher (which you can bet would not be a Maytag). I feel I am entitled to at least a free replacement of the control panel. The rest of the dishwasher seems to be perfectly fine; it also seems obvious that this part is still not holding up to the standards one would expect.
repairman list on maytag site has no insurance - unethical
Maytag Repair Man Has No Insurance and is running his business illegally. He is the first person listed as referral on Magtag's website for Everett MA preferred serviceman. Kevin McCarthy owns and operates Mc Carthy's Appliance Store, 145 Main St, Everett, MA 02149, Phone: [protected]. Maytag referred him to us, he came to fix my stack-able dryer, he came 4 times and still did not fix it. The last time he came he stepped on and broke my washing machine. He quickly left and said he would come back to fix it, then disappeared. He won't return our calls. He emailed me that he has no insurance and is closing his business. Big lie, he is still in business and MAYTAG is still referring him to customers and he is listed #1 on their site. I called Maytag and the first rep said she would have a regional manager call, that was over a month ago, no one called. I called again and they said there is nothing they can do each district handles their own complaints. MAYTAG is just as unethical as McCarthy Appliance.
maytag bravos xl washer
I just spoke to the Maytag customer service department and was told to take my complaint to social media - great customer service! I purchased my Maytag Bravos XL washer and dryer two years ago. For the past year it has had a musty/mildew smell that goes away after I do laundry. I came home from work today and the mildew smell was coming through the air conditioner/heating system and circulating through my entire home. I called for help with this issue and was told there was nothing they could do for me and that I should complain on Facebook or another online venue! I will NEVER purchase another Maytag appliance again and I will tell my story over and over again. This is the worst customer service I have ever experienced!
We purchased a Maytag Maxima front end load washer in 2012. Approximately 9 weeks ago the machine stopped working. We called a repairman and he told that it was likely a control panel and that it would take about 3 weeks. After 7 weeks the part finally arrived and the machine still did not work. We were told that it was also needs a second part. The estimated cost for both parts and labour is approximately $800.
Maytag Canada's customer service is conducted by Whirpool. The customer service is contemptible. They cannot offer any type of status updates. They keep reminding you that you should have purchased an extended warranty. They show no concern about our situation. We have written a letter of complaint and have not received a response. It is summer and nearly all clothing is one wear. For a family of 4, we have spent nearly $120 at the laundromat.
We are disappointed and angry with the poor customer service. We will buying a new washing machine instead of repairing this machine. It will not be a Maytag or Whirpool.
Incidentally, the retailer that sold us the machine has been helpful in trying to resolve the problem and they encountered the same indifference with Maytag's customer service. They have offered a deal on a new machine.
Hate new maytag bravo washing machine ... What's up with washing with a sprinkle of water for wash cycle... Clothes are not getting clean ... Bring back the old style wash machines that at least fill with water at the level you want ... I can't believe the govt got involved to tell us how to wash our clothes with 1/2 the amount of water... Crazy
There's no energy efficiency here when you have to rewash clothes 2-3 times to get them clean!, , !,
Really want my money back ... Can anyone help ... Have used 6 times and hate it, , , , , !, , , , ,
top load washer mvwc6esww1
I am having the same problems with my Maytag Centennial Top Load Washer as others on this complaint board. When I pull the knob to start the washer, it immediately starts to agitate before any water is in the machine. The only way I can get the water to fill before it agitates is to put it on the Hand Wash cycle. After it fills, I turn the knob to the appropriate cycle. I have to use the 2nd rinse cycle to get the clothes dry enough to put in the dryer. They come out soaking wet if I only use the normal rinse/spin cycle because water squirts on the clothes right before it stops spinning. Seems to me that Maytag has a lemon in their temperature switch and they need to own up to it and recall/replace the part for free.
control panel is running amok, ice maker door slams shut every 10 seconds
The control panel has just gone haywire and the door that covers the ice dispenser slowly opens then slams shut. The only way to make it stop is to unplug the refrigerator, which obviously is not idea.
This started last week, May 6, 2016. At first it was sporadic, but now it's continual.
We found numerous complaints about this on line and several stories of people who said Maytag acknowledged the problem and fixed it for free. During our conversation the Maytag rep claimed to know nothing about the frequency of this problem or any company-provided fixes. We would like the part replaced for free since Maytag knows this is a problem and should have issued a recall repair.
french door refrigerator
I purchased my refrigerator 5 years ago, I went with Maytag because it has a good reputation. I have been very disappointed in the product. To date I have continued to have the same problem over and over. The refrigerator quits cooling, a technician has been out 4 times this will be the 5th. We have lost about $300.00 worth of food due to this problem and have been having to use ice chests which is a huge inconvenience. I have a technician coming out today only to be told that all parts will be covered but I have to pay for the labor and the service call. I do not feel I should have to be responsible for this fee due to the nature of the problem. I would like to have my refrigerator replaced.
Thank you,
Kandi Esparza
french door refrigerator
Wow where do I begin, bought this refrigerator 6 years ago along with other may tag appliances for my kitchen remodel. I regret everything about purchasing anything from this company! They are the exactly what is wrong with how large company's handle there customers once a problem with one of there products are discovered. They have instructed there customer service department to stonewall you at every effort to get this problem resolved in a professional manner and blatantly lie about any existing problem with this particular model. So we are out 2500.00 dollars and stuck with a piece of junk taking up space in our kitchen. I remember a time when company's would stand behind their products and do everything within reason to get the problem addressed to keep you as a loyal customer. Has anyone started a class action suit against them based on the faulty control boards etc. that they claim are operating just fine and are not aware of any issues with the parts being used in there refrigerators
I echo the same sentiment's. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY & TIME... I have a 4 month old French Door with double pull out drawers below that cost me close to $3000 that stopped cooling and making very little ice. Currently the Freezer portion appears to be working- fingers crossed! I called on Aug.11 to report the problem and couldn't get an appointment until Aug. 19th between 8am and 4pm which I found absurd!. After contacting Maytag again to report that I had not received confirmation on my appointment from the service provider that they made the appointment with nor had I been able to reach them, I was told by a Maytag CSR to give them until the night before to confirm a time. Well, here we are the morning of the 19th and after NOT receiving a conformation on a time, I called back to Service provider "Breenden Appliance" and got the answering machine once again and could not leave a message, once again! I then called Maytag at 8:50 am to report this problem... Their lack of concern for me as the end user of their product was a complete slap in the face of which I shared with both the CSR and Supervisor! I told them they were not treating my issue with fairness as I was told the provider had a "death in the family" and I would be put on another providers list for next Friday August 26th which I argued was unacceptable! I was told in essence to #1. Take a $100 gift card and go away... #2. Wait for another week and see if you get service...#3. Find a way to get it serviced yourself and we may or may not approve it up to $150... This refrigerator as I believe all their appliances comes with a 10 year limited parts warranty which was one attracting component to purchasing this piece of junk! I tried getting to the corporate office and was road blocked. As shared in another comment, they will do all in their power to limit your avenues for resolution... I have not even been able to locate a regional service number to complain and solicit help to getting service sooner! It's a complete and frustrating joke dealing with their incompetence and lack of motivation to help address an issue on a product they represent! I asked the "Supervisor" if the service contractors work for Maytag or does Maytag work for them? She was like, I don't get what you mean by that statement, and I told her, you keep telling me that you only have 2 providers and "they" can't get to you until a week from now and it seems you have no authority to have me moved to priority status for a missed appointment scheduled by Maytag...Crickets... I hung up!
The only thing good about these complaints is you get a good laugh at the comments! Sad but funny.
I too would like to know if there's been a class action suit against them. When I bought my Ice20 French Door Bottom Freezer, I had to replace both circuit boards twice! There is a high voltage and low voltage circuit board on this lemon of a refrigerator. Three times I've had to go without a refrigerator for over two weeks at a time, not to mention the loss of food each time which they don't reimburse for.
New problem today...the piece of junk looks and sounds like it's working but everything in the freezer has defrosted, and the frig is just cool. And like I said all the control panel indicators say the hunk of junk is running perfectly. Need to unload for the 4th time tomorrow, thinking about just getting another frig. Not something I'm particularly happy about doing after spending $2500 on something I thought would last a long time.
If anyone wants to start a class action suit please don't forget to contact me. I'm in! Maytag No More!
bravos washer and dryer
My wife and I were setting up a new home in Florida and needed a new washer/dryer set. I've had great success with Samsung but bought into the new Maytag ads about great product and service, as well as the desire to "Buy American." We spent over $1, 500 for a Bravos W/D set and have regretted it ever since.
The first problem began with the very first load we washed. The washer was making what I can only describe as a machine-gun noise throughout the wash cycle, so mush so that I could hear it downstairs through two closed doors. It was jumping around on the floor, so clearly something was wrong.
Thinking that maybe we overloaded the unit, we pulled out some clothes and tried again, but the noise continued. So I called Maytag Customer Support the next morning. I was told that the noise I was hearing was perfectly normal, even after I played a recording of it to the service rep.
She then pointed me to a website that has videos of "normal" sounds that their machines make. Apparently, so many people complain about the noise that they have devoted an entire website to explaining why this was normal.
I insisted that this was not anywhere close to the noise I was hearing, but she would not schedule a service appointment for me unless I agreed to pay for the call if it turned out to be a normal operation. No dice.
I ended up, after about a week, getting the unit replaced by going through Home Depot. And the noise ceased. Amazing.
Fast-forward a couple of months, and now the washer cycles through without washing - there's a problem with a sensor board that I've seen referenced on other sites. But can I get an authorized Maytag service rep out here to fix it? They are all booked.
I scheduled an appointment a week out, double-checked the day before - all is on schedule. Then the morning of the appointment, I get a call saying that 3 of their service techs are "sick" (it's the first sunny day in a couple weeks). Maybe in a week?
I call back and escalate - maybe there's another service company? Nope, everyone is booked for the next week. And now the first company's story changes - they're not "sick", they're injured. They were injured yesterday but apparently they thought they would improve overnight?
Bottom line, Maytag products are so bad that they have to post videos on their website to try to convince you that the noises your machine makes are "normal". They will charge YOU (even during warranty) to prove otherwise. And God help you if you need a service call - apparently there is only ONE Maytag Repairman and he's busy making commercials.
I have had almost the exact same experience. I will never purchase another maytag product and I tell everyone I know to do the same.
washing machine neptune mah8700aww
We have the Neptune MAH8700AWW We have had the motor replaced and the mother board rebuilt. We are still getting the same 3E code. I don't think I will ever trust Maytag again. I thought it would be nice to finally be able to afford a quality machine. I was wrong. We have spent over $700 in repairs for it to continue with the same codes. I am VERY disappointed.
This is a clothes washing machine not a dish washer
bravos xl mct washing machine
The machine does not use enough water to adequately wash the clothes. I had to run a pair of jeans 3 times and the mud from the golf course was still there. We have had to resort to adding additional water to each load to get anything close to clean. This is in addition to running the extra heavy deep water cycle. Is there a fix for this? I don't care about saving a little water, I would prefer to run the load one time and have the clothes clean.
msd2559xeb04
I purchased a MSD2559XEB04 side by side refrigerator in July 2011 new for $825 from a local big name home supply store. Recently, the front fascia (p/n [protected]), which is part of the User Interface, peeled off on its own. The front fascia consists of two pieces, a thicker plastic backing plate that snaps into the UI and a laminated "sticker" that is stuck to the backing plate. The "sticker" portion is the piece that fell off on its own. Since the unit is out of warranty, I decided to replace the item at my cost, however soon learned that the part was discontinued and no longer available. I contacted Maytag directly and was told that the part was discontinued and no longer available. As an alternative, I was offered a new equivalent refrigerator at a discount as a replacement. The replacement unit was offered at $832 + $70 shipping + $46 water connection fee + tax. I insisted that they provide a better resolution, especially considering that the refrigerator was only 4 years old and that they failed to stock replacement parts. I was told there was nothing better they could offer. Be warned, when purchasing a Maytag unit, that parts may not be available for parts that fail nor will they provide a reasonable alternative. I will certainly never purchase another Maytag product again given their potential to not stock replacement parts nor provide reasonable alternatives to alleviate a clear manufacturing quality issue. Regardless of whether the unit is in warranty, a reasonable expectation would be that parts would be available for a number of years after a new purchase. This is clearly not the case with Maytag. In summary, Maytag does not stand behind its products nor is it willing to provide reasonable resolutions for product related quality control issues.
centennial washer model 464mvwc400xw
My wife purchased this machine 2/10/2012. When using a powder form of soap, it doesn't rinse all the soap out. Last week 12/11/2015, I went to remove clean clothes after the cycle was complete (or so I thought). The clothes were still soaking wet. I set it to Drain and Spin, then restarted. After at least two rinse cycles, it still continued to run. Couldn't get it to drain and spin. Then it drained the tub and began agitating (both me and the clothes!). Finally had to unplug, wring out the clothes by hand and hang to dry.
washer
Purchased a new expensive Maytag washer in Jan. 2012. Now the washer is broke and essentially a boat anchor. I called Maytag and was told it is out of warranty, however I was offered a program called "repair plus" which would cover parts and labor at a discounted price. I called back to schedule and was than told the "repair plus" offer was withdrawn and that I did not qualify, the previous person offered it in error. Its Dec and I have 4 kids and now have to spend nearly $800 on a new washer, Maytag will do ZERO.
