My basement flooded due to a frozen pipe that prevented water from being pumped out on 2/8/26.
Liberty Mutual initially responded and advised getting a mitigation service to deal with the damage. After a couple months of back and forth, they said my coverage was limited to $5k, due to sump pump failure. They know the frozen pipe caused my loss but are failing to pay me and using a technicality to justify their response. After 25 years of paying them, without a claim, I am now stuck with a 10k invoice for the mitigation. They do not stand behind their customers.
Claimed loss: $9000 in mitigation costs, not covered, because Liberty Mutual would rather classify as sump pump than frozen pipe.
Desired outcome: I would like the mitigation service to be paid what they are owed by Liberty Mutual
