On 10/09/2020 at approximately 11:30 pm I arrived for a reservation at The La Quinta Hotel on Buck Owens Street in Bakersfield, CA. I was assisted by a woman at the front desk who proceeded to payment. She asked me if I reserved a "king room", I told her I did. I stated that I chose the "Deluxe King" which is equipped with kitchenette features. She then said (verbatim), "Well, all we have are standard king rooms, so that is what I am giving you". I was tired and not willing to debate, so I just let that go. Next, I asked for a cart to carry my luggage to the room. The woman proceeds to tell me, "well another guest must have used it and kept it for themselves in their room. I dont know where one is, so I can't help that, sorry but you will have toi just carry your things. Even at that point, I still disregarded her lack of concern for my needs and handled it myself.
So we get to our room (119) and notice the smell of mildew... Still too tired to complain, we just undressed and went to sleep. At 2:13 am we heard banging on our door for about 20 seconds... Nonstop eventually my fiance went outside to check out the problem and was approached by a man who accused us of having his girlfriend in our room, hiding her from him. Another knocking at 4am and this time the person kicked the door 3 times.
Finally when we got to sleep again and awoke for the day at 9 am, the smell of mildew made sense because the entire floor was soaked with water that seemed to be coming from the air conditioner
My name is Heather Baer. My stay was a nightmare and hopefully I will be contacted soon. My phone number is (559) 645*7381 thank you for your time and consideration
I am sorry you had that horrible experience. I just had a complete nightmare experience in Colorado at a La Quinta, and I have a bad heart (have had cancer and two mild heart attacks) and their manager came at me so aggressively - throwing me out of the hotel (which has never ever happened to me before ANYWHERE), and this set off my heart issues and paramedics had to come and police too.
Police had to talk to this hot head manager and at least got me the chance to settle down and leave in a decent manner. The paramedics EKG saw I had PVC's (heart arrhythmia) but we let it go and did not transport me to the hospital, because its so full of covid cases right now. I was cautioned to find a safer hotel and rest. I was sick all throughout the night.
Some of this type of behavior is COMPLETELY inexcusable. I was a woman staying there on business. I believe the manager was mysogenistic and anti-semitic (I believe this was religious too).
I also think women are targeted at La Quintas and that's not acceptable.
