Kay Jewelers refuse to honor insurance

My husband bought a one and a half carat three stone engagement ring from Kay Jewelers, spending $2, 999 plus the cost of the insurance which, when he bought the insurance they said if the ring was lost or stolen they would replace it free.

They lied. I accidentally flushed my ring down the toilet trying to put it back on and he went up there the next day to talk to them but they refused to give a replacement. All he wanted to do was get the same ring we had before but they said all they could do was allow him to pick something out the same price as what he still owes on the ring that is now gone. I think that is [censored].

They are now claiming the insurance that he has doesn't cover a lost ring! Lies! Don't buy from them! I also had to have the ring sent off within six months to have the diamonds tightened in the setting and I feel they have ripped us off.

Has this ever happened to anyone else?

Edited to add since I can not edit my post: I was reaching for the ring on the shelf while I was flushing the toilet and I didn't close my hand around the ring in time and it fell into the toilet and down it went!

You are ignorant. The warranty does not, and never has, covered total loss of the ring. Even if they 'told' you that when you bought it, you should have read your paperwork. Take some responsibility. You think paying a hundred and fifty bucks ONE TIME covered the total loss of a three thousand dollar ring FOREVER? This blows my mind. The warranty covers loss of the diamond. the diamond! If the diamond falls out, you're covered. If you're just clumsy and knock your ring down the toilet, thats called life. The sucky part maybe, but life.

Kay Jewelers lied, damgaed property to unvalidate guarantee

My husband bought me a 1/2 carat engagement ring in 2003 from Kay Jewelers in Virginia Beach. It was the first diamond I had ever owned. My husband was serving in the Navy at the time. I would have settled for a 1/3 carat but he wanted to surprise me and bought the 1/2. He also bought the Lifetime Diamond and Color Gemstone Guarantee.I was faithful to take the ring in every 6 months and have it inspected and documented on a slip of paper they would give me.

Since that time, we have bought a beautiful amethyst ring for daughter, an emerald and diamond band for myself, a simulated ruby ring, a Valentine specially priced necklace and ring and a small charm for my daughter when she announced her pregnancy. All from Kay Jewelers. The most expensive any of these above pieces was not more than $350. When we bought my diamond engagement ring, we had traded a wedding set from my husband's 1st marriage and put the remaining $800 and some on a Kay's Credit Card. All our payments were always on time and all the above items were paid off as they should have been. The amethyst, emerald/diamond ring and the charm all had Lifetime Guarantees on them that covers a replacement if it is chipped, broken or lost from it's original setting. I faithfully wrote all the inspection dates on the calendar and all of them were inspected every 6 months.

My daughter's amethyst fell out shortly after she got it and was lost. This happened 4 to 5 times! A couple times we found the stone. Once Kay's replaced the entire ring when she fell at work and completely smashed the ring and lost the stone. The charm I bought her also lost the white amethyst stone a month after she got it. Again, Kay's replaced it. I have not paperwork of all these incidents because Kay's has you sign the slip to send the ring in and then sign the same slip when you pick it up and then keep the paperwork.

In December, I had gotten up early one morning and was sitting quietly when I looked down at my hand and my diamond was gone! I was really heartbroken but knew since I had that Lifetime Guarantee everything would be ok. WRONG!

I looked at the setting and saw that one of the prongs was slightly out of alignment with the others that were straight. The last inspection had been in August 09. I was really puzzled as the 2 other rings I wear on the same finger were fine but obviously with the prong slightly askew, this is why it fell out. I had no idea when I could have lost it. I never take it off and always clean it with a soft brush if I use lotion on my hands. I knew it had been there the previous morning. I looked all over my bed and around it and kept an eye out for something sparkly to catch my eye. I'm still doing that.

Now to the heart of the problem. I took it to Kay's in South Bend with all confidence that it would be replaced. The manager, Stephanie, waited on me and when she checked my last inspection date on their computer, she said it showed I hadn't had the ring inspected since some time in 08. I produced the most recent inspection slip dated Aug 09 and she kept it to turn in with the ring in for replacement. She was vague about when it may be done.

I called on January 7th. The asst. manager said the ring was still in Ohio and would call and check on it and call me back. When there was no call by the following Monday, I called back. Asst. Mgr. told me there was a note from the store manager that she would call me the next day. Mid afternoon the next day, I had to call her. She started asking me questions like, "did you ever have this stone replaced before?", "have you bumped your hand on the cupboard lately?", "have you left your ring anywhere else lately?" and "has anyone else worked on your ring?" I answered no to all. She said she would call them to see why they were asking those questions and it could be another week until the ring was done. She said she'd call me in a couple hours.

She called 2 hours later to tell me the ring just happened to come in! (Surprise!) But the stone wasn't replaced because...here it comes...are you ready? I quote, "It has obvious pry marks on it" Not just "pry marks" but "OBVIOUS PRY MARKS"! She proceed to tell me she didn't know why she hadn't noticed it when I brought it in. All she said she noticed was that the stone was missing but, "yes", she said, " I see them now!" (meaning the pry marks). I can't take up all this space to type the whole conversation. I tried not to flip out but did manage to ask her if she was calling me a jewel thief!

I finally got her to refer me to a customer relations number and called it immediately and spoke to someone named Laura or Laurie. During the course of the conversation, she put me on hold for a total of 25 minutes while she supposedly was making phone calls to investigate. She told me when she came back on the phone that there were "obvious pry marks on the ring"...are you ready?..."made by tools!".

By this time I am fit to be tied. At one point she told me to stop yelling at her because she was trying to help me! I wanted to do one of those "this is not yelling, THIS IS YELLING!" kind of things but restrained myself. After another heated conversation she told me she would look into it some more and call me back.

Remember, I have still not seen the ring. The store is an hour's drive for me and the weather had been bad.

Later in the evening she calls me to tell me she spoke again to the South Bend manager and tells me the manager said she discussed the pry marks with me when I dropped the ring off! I feel I'm in the twilight zone. She also mentions at that time that the Master Jeweler at the home office said the "pry marks" made the ring "not damaged under normal wear and tear". She also tells me the prongs are not straight and some of the prongs are severely bent. Steam is coming out of my ears by now and I am put on hold for another 20 minutes. I hang up, call back and someone named Megan answers. She tells me her desk is right next to Laura's and that Laura is talking to someone about my ring and she'll call me tomorrow.

Next day Laura (probably not her real name) calls to inform me there's nothing else she can do. She says the ring was not damaged by normal wear and tear. She is very firm and emphatic about it and loud. I asked her if I can get that in writing to include all the remarks about "pry marks" and "obvious pry marks'. She tell me no...NO?...it is not company policy to do that and the explanation in my (generic) pamphlet about "normal wear and tear" is all the explanation I need. I tried to get more info from her. She told me the ring was received in Ohio on Dec. 11 and evaluated on Ded. 11 (remember this is Jan 13.) I kept trying to keep her on the phone as I rapidly scanned all my notes and questions desperately trying to some how make sense of all this . I did ask to speak to her supervisor and she informed me the CEO of the company gave them full responsibility to make all decisions and that her supervisor had approved it and so had the supervisor of the supervisor! Then out of desperation since the call wasn't going well anyway, I said I'd gotten some legal advice and I needed to ask her a few more questions. (The only legal advice I'd gotten was from friends who gave me advice about what I might do!) She immediately shouted, "This conversation is over!". I said, "what?" and she shouted again, "this conversation is over!" I hung up first.

The next day I went to see the ring. I took my daughter with me. The manager greeted us with a smile and I asked to see the ring...and guess what...the ring looked quite different from when I brought it in. I can't absolutely say it's my ring. The setting is really plain and it could be any ring. There were NO prongs that were slightly out of alignment...ALL the prongs were damaged, one was even twisted. It looked kinda of smashed. And, yes, there were 2 marks on the prongs that looked liked slashes. I was stunned. I told the manager this was not the condition of the ring when I brought it in. I asked her if she had documented the condition of the ring before she sent it out and she said no (what?) and said she put down just that the stone was missing. She then informed me she could not answer any more questions! My daughter spoke up at that point as she could see I was in tears from the frustration of all this and asked a few more general questions about repairs and warranties. Then she and I both looked at each other and discussed aloud what we should do now. My daughter told the manager we didn't know what to do since we'd never been in such a situation before. The manager was no help. We asked if we could take a picture of the ring and she told us no, not inside the store. We asked if we could take it right to the edge of the store in the mall but in her sight and photograph it and she said we'd have to sign the release to do that.

I took a few moments to think. I signed the release. I took the ring. I just couldn't stand being in that store one more minute and knew they were liars and could not trust leaving the ring there for them to alter it anymore

This is quite lengthy I know. I am totally shook up over this and at this point don't know what all I'm going to do. Of course my husband and I immediately canceled our accounts with Kay's and will never step foot in there again or any of Sterling Jewelers others owned stores. I will post this on as many online complaint sites that I can. I will notify the Better Business Bureau. I know I am up against an multi million dollar company with infinite legal resources. I know I have been cheated, lied to and duped.

What a terrible misfortune! I am so sorry for your loss. A wedding ring is practically the most important piece of jewelry a woman can own, and Kay Jewlers doesn't seem to value that at ALL! As sorry as I am that you had to endure such thievery and dishonesty, I thank you for sharing this ordeal. I will be sharing it with friends and family as well, and absolutely NEVER do business with anyone associated with Kay Jewelers. Just reading about your experience makes me angry that they would take these deceptive measures to get out of the lifetime warranty. This company is surely not to be trusted. It's too bad that you didn't take a picture of the condition of the ring before going to the store. Then again, when you think you're doing business with a trustworthy institution that shouldn't cross your mind! How dare these people trample all over a ring with such important meaning?!I truly hope this is resolved for you and wish you the best of luck.

Kay Jewelers merchandise return process

I purchased a necklace from Kay Jewlers onine with the understanding I could return it. I then returned it following their instructions and using their mailing label. Its been 2 weeks since I returned their merchandise USPS Priority mail/insured. I contacted customer service and was told it may have arrived but there was no way for them to determine that. They said I should have returned it UPS instead of USPS or returned it to one of their stores. Those instructions/options are not included in their return information. They indicated they were unable to verify if the item had arrived at their warehouse. They then told me it would be 3 weeks from the time they received notification of return before they would issue a refund. Customer service provided no help whatsoever in expediting or resolving my problem. Their attitude was, "Oh well, you should have figured out what to do on your own."

Kay Jewelers rude and warranty rip off

I recently purchased a diamond necklace from Kay Jewelers. At first I said I was interested in buying it and the associate took it out of the case, put it in a box and started ringing me up. I had to stop him and ask him if I could see it first because I was only interested and hadn't made my decision yet. He was very rude about it and just flashed it in my face for about two seconds. I did like it so I said I'd buy it. He told me that I HAD to purchase the 19.99 warranty and didn't give me a choice. When I said I didn't want it, he rang it up on my bill anyways. I asked him what the warranty covered and he said it covered diamond replacement and that if a diamond ever fell out they'd replace it for free no questions asked (he reiterated this point 3 times). Then without consulting me he started trying to add jewelry cleaner etc. to my bill, which I didn't even realize until he told me that my total was $175 for a $59.99 necklace (on sale). I told him I just wanted the necklace and nothing else, so he was very rude but complied accept he kept the warranty on there. At this point I said fine because it was a gift and I wanted the person to be covered if something happened to the necklace. (The person's wedding ring had a diamond fall out 4 times, so I thought maybe a diamond replacement plan would be a good option). Well, I get home and read my policy over and it clearly states that it DOES NOT cover diamond replacement only diamond resetting if you are in possession of the diamond that fell out. I contacted the store associate who sold me the necklace and he said I didn't opt for that plan (I thought they only had one policy). I was appauled by this because I wouldn't have bought the plan (not that I really had a choice because he kept adding it to my bill anyways), but now he's saying he lied to me? I thought that the policy covered this but my paperwork says it does not. I read it over four times and it clearly states that diamond replacement is not part of the policy. The associate then told me I could buy some other policy or something that would cover replacement. I contacted the corporate customer service about receiving a refund for the policy because it's clearly not what the associate claimed it to be or that they change my policy to guarantee diamond replacement. I don't know what plan he sold me, but it certainly makes it very clear that diamond replacement is not included. Very upset and disgruntled with Kay because I had always thought they were one of the best jewelers to shop from, not to mention the associate pressured me and tried to slip in other products with my order that I didn't want.

I have purchaced from Kay's several times so I am not sure what you are reading that says that your diamonds are not covered. Every diamond they sell is covered-you just have to have your rings inspected and documented every 6 months. It states it on their warranty paper work. Also-I am not sure what kind of jewelry cleaner was being added to you$60 necklace. Cuz, 60 plus 20 (for the warranty)is $80- so unless they were adding 30 jewelry cleaners there is no way you could get to $180 (although same jewelry cleaner is about a $1.00 less at walmart)

Kay Jewelers terrible company

I brought my $2000 sapphire and diamond engagement ring to Kays Jewelers to have my 2nd wedding band “welded” to my wedding band, so that it would not slide off my finger. [FYI- I purchased my wedding band twice at Kays Jewelers {once at Fulton Mall in Brooklyn; 2nd in Nashua, NH} after having lost my first one]

I brought my engagement and wedding ring to the Kays Jewelers in Danvers, MA. Both rings were reviewed, and noted that there were no issues with any of my stones. It was then sent out in November 2007 for approximately 3 weeks. I then picked up my ring right before the holidays. The binding job was sub-par and I noticed a flaw in my sapphire. Due to work travel related issues and the holidays, I did not bring my ring back to Kays to be looked at until after the New Year.

I was told by the gemologist at the Kays Jewelers Peabody, MA store that my sapphire was cracked. I was then told by the Kays Jewelers in Danvers, MA that because I signed off on the ring, 'too bad, too sad', I was told that the ring should have been reviewed by a gemologist at the time that I picked it up, as well as a review of the binding of my rings. Neither of those 2 steps occurred. Kay Jewelers would not even back track to the team/individual who repaired [or ruined] my engagement ring. I was told that they had nothing to do with it and that perhaps it was I who broke my ring, and was trying to 'blame' it on them.

I will NEVER go back to this cheesy chain jewelry pawn shop and would suggest that no one buy anything from them. Go to a local shop where you'll actually be a name and not a number.

Sounds like you need to be more careful with your jewelry. I'm surprised you didn't blame the loss of you ring on the store. Just to let you know- your sapphire should be covered by kay's. I have a sapphire ring from them and as long as I have my ring checked every 6 months my sapphires and diamonds are covered if they crack.

Kay Jewelers rude, pushy, commission based selling

I would never even think about stepping foot back in a Kay's or any other Jeweler they are associated with. We went through 2 sales staff and 1 manager before exiting the store. All three were very pushy (basically, banking on Commission), rude, and didn't care at all about the customer. I did NOT want to put the ring on my ring finger but they were forceful about me trying it on my ring finger. They tried to sign us up for a credit card when we didn't see anything we liked. Told the sales staff EXACTLY what I was looking for and they didn't show me it. She showed me a setting that wasn't even close to what I was looking for and it wasn't even a 1 carat diamond. I told her it wasn't what I was looking for and exactly why...she then proceeded to tell me it WAS and that I was wrong! They don't listen to a word you say and think their opinion is the right opinion. They also tried to force us to buy a ring that day...yeah RIGHT! They also told us how horrible the other Jewelry stores were in the area and how they are so prestigious. We also told them an exact budget we had and they disregarded it. They were showing us solitaires that were $3000+ over our budget. They are the RUDDEST, MOST UNPROFESSIONAL Staff we have ever come across for any store. The Manager should be a role model for the sales stafff, but he was just as bad as the sales stafff. Extremely UNPROFESSIONAL, Rude and Forceful!

Kay Jewelers beware

I have not yet become a Kay Jewelers customer, and may not be in the future if the quality of their advertising reflects their merchandiding. For maybe the 2nd or 3rd year now, a TV ad shows a young Black couple remembering personally important locations in their town. This commercial drives me nuts because Kay decided to use an actress capable of only one facial expression-that being a constant silly grin. This actress is clearly out of her depth as far as acting ability is concerned. That, or else she was stoned to the gills on the day of filming and the Director just said "F**k it!" and used it anyway. For Pete's sake! Make a different ad instead of recycling old ones that are just plain bad!

I purchased my husband's wedding band from Kay a while back. Paid up front, paid extra for engraving, and was told they would call me when it came in. Well...3 weeks later, I go to the store to find out what's going on and they tell me I've already picked it up. I told them this was not so, and then they say..."Oh, you husband picked it up." Not so. It was a surprise anniversary gift, he had no idea about it. Long story short, they found it. It had been sent off, sized, came back, and they put it in the case to sell. It was never sent off to be engraved. They would never refund the amount for engraving either.

Part 2: My $4, 000 wedding ring has been off my finger more than on. Its constantly breaking and a piece of crap. I told them I either want a refund or a merchandise exchange of equal value. I was told they would give me a $2, 000 credit for my ring and then I would hafta spend double. When I told them this was not acceptable, I was basically informed that I would hafta sue to get anywhere with this.

You are petty and just plain dumb! Have you seen the other jewelry ads on TV?!? Outside of Jared's, Kay's, BY FAR, has the best marketing campaign. They are the number one jewelry store in America, that doesn't happen by accident. I'm sure they'll be just fine without you shopping there.

Kay Jewelers felony forgery

Kay's Jewelers is one of the most dishonest retail chains I have ever witnessed. A man came in the Kays store seeking employment. Employment forms include such information as a persons social security number, date of birth etc. The assistant manager of the store informed the man after he filled out the job application that the company "Kays" needs to do a credit check. This credit check is suppose to be done by the home office. Yet, the assistant manager was referring to a credit check for a Kays card. The man advised the assistant manager no thank you. Yet the assistant manager kept on pushing the man to fill out a credit application to which the man kept replying NO! After the man left the store the assistant manager took all the information from the employment application and filled out a application for a Kays store credit card. In fact the assistant store manager also signed the man's name to the credit application. The chain of command within Kays is just as dishonest. More than often most people in the chain of command (District Managers & VP's of regions) will either turn a deaf ear to the problem or denounce such an incident to ever take place. The reason is they do not what shuch an issue to come to light in their respective districts. Its easier to just sweap it under the rug than to broadcast about such a problem in their districts. Furthermore, gleaning such information from employment applications just to fill out a card applications as well as signing the customers name to them is a fenoly (felony forgery.) It all about making your selling and store quotas at the expense of the customer security of personal data without the customer consent.

I agree to everything stated. I had a store manager ask me about my purchases/returns from other stores when I called her to see if they still had a ring I was interested in buying. Was this person looking in my personal account without my consent or knowledge? I did not ask anything about my account when I called...she simply stated I see where you bought and returned from two other stores. I felt like I needed to explain to her for no reason that both places had damaged the pieces after setting my diamond both times so I didn't accept defective jewelers work. I called the corporate office to which I was talked to a bit rudely. They told me that no employee should be able to access my account with out my consent. The store manager lied when corporate called her and stated she was reading from a paper she had in her store. She did not have paperwork from the other stores I'm sure as it has nothing to do with her store. They refuse to call back with any follow up so you never know if any disciplinary action is taken. I was told "it is handled internally" and for privacy reasons I will not find out the outcome. Oh yeah, what about my privacy?

Kay Jewelers jewelry - ring sizing/soldering

I took my wedding ring set (solitaire and wrap) in to Kay Jewelers at the Midland Mall because the ring had started to trap soap/dirt/grime on my finger and made my finger break out. The ring was tight, and the store staff suggested having it sized up half a size. I agreed and had them send my ring out. I went in to pick up my ring and instantly went to put the ring on. I could not get it on my finger. The staff instantly had excuses and blame. They said that my finger was probably swollen from walking around the mall or drinking hot coffee. In fact, neither was true. I had just entered the mall and had a cup of ice in my hand. The store salesperson suggested that my finger had swollen up since I hadn't had a ring on since dropping it off at the store. Then upon closer examination of the ring, I found that the solitaire diamond ring was not lined up with the outer wrap ring. It was soldered back CROOKED. The wrap has two indentions where the solitaire is to line up, and it was obvious to the eye that it did not line up. I was furious. Then I realized that I saw skin through the two rings, and normally I would not have any gap to see anything through that. The jeweler had soldered the rings back crooked, and differently than the original setting. The center solitaire ring must have been slightly larger than the wrap, which allowed the two rings to line up perfectly - BEFORE. I was told by the staff that it was my fault that the ring didn't fit, and it was my fault that the ring setting was different. What? I expected my ring to come back looking EXACTLY like it looked when I dropped it off, I just wanted it to fit my finger! I was livid! Then I was told that the price to have the ring sized up would increase, by $30. That was insane. I was getting charged for soldering/unsoldering again, when they had to do that to fix their mistake of putting it together crooked! I left the store very frustrated, and am currently waiting until November 20th to get my ring back. I have emailed Customer Service and let the store at the local mall know how unhappy I am with their service. At this point my bill is estimated to be at $76. The diamond solitaire was purchased at Kay, but the wrap was not. According to the store, this is the price of having one ring sized up and the soldering/unsoldering fee.

Kay Jewelers criminals

Yup I was late making a payment and they started with their harassing phone calls. Well the economy took a turn for the worst and I have had the Kay Jewelers card and been a good customer for years. So they wanna push with annoying calls and threatening legal action. Good luck.

I was getting ready to send a payment off, but now that they pissed me off, they can just wait. Collections sounds good to me. Maybe let them take some legal action. They didn't wanna work with me, just wanted payment in full. They ask me to return the merchandise, I guess I will just take the gift back from the person I gave it to. Their products are poor quality and their prices are overpriced for the quality of their products. Am I pissed? Yup. The more they bug ya, the longer I make them wait to get their money. I told them not to call my work, but they love to call. They call my work more than my home number trying to get payment. All I can say to Kay Jewelers is you lost a good customer and ya pissed me off, so keep on calling and see where it gets you.

If they call you and harass, threaten or abuse, it's a violation of many state's own fair debt collection practices laws. Keep in mind creditors are exempt from the FDCPA but many states, like Pennsylvania and Massachusetts, provide for the same protection from abuse for creditor (like Kay Jewelers) calls/harassment. Kay Jewelers diamond warranty scam

Purchased a diamond ring lost with diamind warranty. I lost one of my stones. I took the ring to Deptford Mall Kay Jewelers to have repaired. It took 2 mths to get it back because they no longer make my ring and had trouble finding stone to fit. So they call and say my ring is finally in, HAPPY right NO the stone they put in was too small. They tried to pass it off to me as the same. I took to 3 different jewelers to have appraised and all of them said the same thing. Not only was it too small it was a poor quality. SCAM I'm currently filing a law suit since they aren't willing to make right what the did. The store mgr Bill has the most horrible customer svc manners!

Kay Jewelers unprofessional

Earlier today my fiancee went to the local Kay Jewelers store in Titusville to get her white gold engagement ring replated. Turns out that trip was worthless, because as soon as the woman who worked there took a look at the ring she said they couldn't plate it because it is "fake." The ring has a 1ct moissanite stone, and according to her they could only plate real diamond rings. I don't quite understand what her point was, because my fiancee and I are well aware that it is a moissanite ring, in fact, we chose for moissanite because it is a cheaper alternative to a diamond, and looks beautiful in its own way. Moissanite isn't meant to be a diamond imitation anyway, so was the jeweler trying to tell us the moisannite itself wasn't a real moissanite?

I wonder what she would have said if the ring my fiancee brought in had a sapphire instead of a moissanite, would it then have been worthy of being plated? Would we have to remove the moissanite before Kay Jewelers deemed it worthy of being plated?

I think it is absolutely ridiculous how the representative of Kay Jewelers humiliated my fiancee by continuously putting down the ring (as she was holding it, almost to keep it from my fiancee before finishing her argument) and acting as if it weren't worthy of being serviced by them. The person was very lucky I wasn't with my fiancee when it happened, because I know I would have raised *** in that store and would probably have to be taken out by security. We've had the ring plated before by Zales, and they were very friendly to us and had no problems whatsoever having it plated.

I can tell from the other comments on this page that this company is absolute ###, and they really need to teach their representatives something about customer service, as this woman clearly didn't care to treat my fiancee like a normal person, instead she looked down on her as if she were not even worthy enough to be in the store.

I know which company I'll never even consider buying anything from, and I'd suggest you to think twice before dealing with this company.

there is a reason why they could not take ur "Fake" ring. If you look in to how white gold is made and how Kay's goes about rhodium plating there rings you will see there were actually helping you. Because of the stone you have it could melt in the hot altrasonic they use to rhodium plat the rings in. you have had your rings done at Zales before and im surprised they didnt turn your wifes hand green. "may be thats why there goin out of business" so look in to why they couldnt service your ring and maybe understand from there point of why it would have been a complanet in which you would havent got your ring back at all.
so you need to think about your ring and its "fakeness"

and valued Kay's customer of 37year and never once had a problem that they could not solve

Kay Jewelers horrible experience

I sent in my wifes ring for repair in November of 07 as a surprise Christmas gift. I did not receive the ring back until Feb of 08. It than became a surprise Valentines gift. My wife had it back on her finger for four days when she realized one of the emeralds was missing again.

I returned the ring to be repaired again with the intention of not paying on the bill until I received the ring back again. I have now been threatened with being sent to collections even though I no longer have the ring. It has been back in their hands for 4 weeks.

Kay Jewelers lost diamonds

I am so angry and upset that i don't even know where to begin! My husband had purchased my $2000 engagement ring a few years back. (It's one of those with 4 diamonds that are put together to look like one big center stone.) i hadly ever wore the ring due to work and pregnancies, but tried it on last year to finally start wearing it. Unfortunately it needed to be sized so i took it back to kay. We had puchased the extended service plan so the cost was taken care of. I got my ring back and noticed a couple of weeks later that one of the four diamonds had a small chip. I could have done it so i'm not blaming kay for that. It was also stupid of me not to take it in to be examined every 6 months, so i knew that i'd have to pay for the replacement diamond. I took in into kay and they said that they had to mail it off to corporate to have it looked at. Well, close to 3 weeks later the manager called and said that all four diamonds are chipped! Who knows if that was even the case, because they never offered to show me the damage. . . Stupid me again. I asked what the cost would be to replace them and they said that they had no idea. Kay's mails "that type" of diamond ring over seas to the vendor to be replaced and they wouldn't know the cost until it was returned. That didn't make me happy! One of the emploees there said that he would have it done "at cost" and it should be around $400. Upon signing the papers to have it sent off i verified with the employee that my old suposedly chipped diamonds would be returned to me. He assured that they would (This was not a trade in.) they quoted me 3 months until my ring would be back, but it was back in 3 weeks. . . Great, right? Wrong! They did not return my old diamonds! Only one out of the four was visibly chipped. My husband planned on having earrings made for me out of them. They were sentimental! Countless phone calls, run arounds and lies but still no answers. When they originally sent it off they said that each diamond weighed. 2c, but now they are saying. 13c. Customer service says that they always keep old diamonds when they replace with new ones. I am not stupid and only a stupid person would agree to that. Of course they are going to grind them down, resell them and make more money! Now they do not know how to compensate me, because they say that those diamonds were chipped and worthless. I won't even pick up my fixed ring because i'm not paying $645 for diamonds that we paid $2000 for the first time. They are treating me like a thief trying to get something free, but they are the thieves! I don't even know where to go or who to complain to that can help me. But i can warn others not to go there. They are only out to take your money. They don't care about people or customer service!

They are greedy lying ### and ###. I took my ring to a Mom and Pap jeweler and hey presto the ring was NOT chipped at all. They are scammers. Luckily I recorded everything for my attorney!

i have been told by a kay employee that a repair counts as an inspection, so why were they charging you for the diamonds, if you noticed the chipped diamonds a few weeks after the sizing. maybe yoiu shoild call customer sevice and tell them when it was repaired

Kay Jewelers bad customer service/product

Purchased a diamond ring at Katy Mills Mall location and am now having an issue with. I tried talking to the staff & store manager about fixing the ring and of course they say they can't because it's not "covered" in the insurance. I called customer service and they refuse to help also. I'm so disappointed that they are okay with the fact that a customer is not 100% happy with her purchase. I will not buy another piece of jewelery from Kay's and don't recommend anyone else too either. These are bad business people!

Kay Jewelers loss of heart-shaped pendant/ accusation of lying

My husband and I were disappointed with our last visit to Kay Jewelers 1 week ago. We went to the store 2 weeks ago to have my husband's gold chain repaired. At the time his chain had 2 pendants on it; one was a gold crucifix and the other one was a small, white gold, heart-shaped pendant. The employee who took care of us that day apparently removed the crucifix pendant to clean it and didn't notice the heart pendant fall. The problem was that she did that after we left the store. When we picked up the chain 1 week later, I noticed that the heart pendant was missing. The employees were sorry and said that they would look for it, esp. at the repair shop, and said that they would call us 3 days later to let us know if they found it. We got a call from the store manager(whose name is Cynthia) the next day and told us that no one at the repair shop had seen it, and that the picture taken at the repair shop only had the crucifix. So she told us that they would keep searching, and would call us again on Wednesday. This is where all of the mess begins. No one from the store called us on Wednesday, so we decided to go in the evening. When we got there Cynthia had a really ### attitude and kept telling us that no one found my heart pendant; kept insisting that we were lying because they had never lost any piece of jewelery before, and on top of that the employee who helped us the very 1st day said that she remembered that there wasn't a heart pendant on the chain. I got so mad that I told Cynthia that I wanted to see the security video from the day we dropped off the chain and she kept saying that they didn't have cameras, but later on said that they did have cameras but they only scan the outside of the store, not the inside. So she said that it was now our word against the store's and that they weren't going to do anything about it. Before we stormed out of there, I told her and her employees that I had a feeling that the pendant had been dropped on the floor, and that it was probably sucked up by the vacuum cleaner, and no one noticed it. About 15 minutes after we left the store, we got a call from the store and were told that my pendant had been found inside the vacuum cleaner. I was relieved to have gotten my pendant back, but I was upset because I wanted to give Cynthia a piece of my mind by telling her what a terrible and ### manager she was, but she was already gone, and none of the employees apologized for their mistake. After that horrible ordeal I told them that they should put cameras inside the store to protect customers from problems like this. My husband and I agreed never to shop at Kay Jewelers ever again, and I will give Cynthia a piece of my mind the next time we are at the mall because we deserve an apology for their mistake.

Kay Jewelers customer service

On June 24, 2009, I purchased my wife a leo neckless and a pair of earring. My wife had a reaction to the jewerly and we took it back. We talked to another manager whom basically made us feel bad and then got us to order the same thing but in gold when we really didn't want it. So my wife and I went to the store to pick up the jewerly and due to them changing it to gold they tried to charge us more money. At that point my wife said no she didn't want it due to there attitudes and the negative vibes they were giving off. Well I turned all of the jewerly back in and it appears they did not credit to my wifes bank account the down payment of $586.00 that she had put down. they put on the sale recept zero total down payment. At that time that we brought her jewerly she purchased me a diamond band that sold at 659.00. On August 12, 2009 they sent us a bill staying we owed them $250.00 and a late charge for $29.00. Our question is where is the $586.00 and why didn't they put the $400.00 trade in down on the ring? I have sent a report to Kay's jewerly and I am very upset that they did not put the trade in on the ring which was $400.00, then take the $586.00, and then not call us when the trade in was back. Also if we owed them money why didn't they inform me when I came into the store to pick up the trade in? Kay's has a 60 day trade in policy, so no one should of been upset. I feel that they got upset because we returned the jewerly and now on this bill they have decided to charged us $753.00 for a ring that we have a recept showing we paid $659.00 and saying we have a remaining balance of $253.00. Question where is the $586.00? I know they get upset when people steal from them, so if that the case why are they trying to steal from good paying customers and then try to mess up there credit? Times are hard we as customer need good customer services not selected memory theives.

I know just how you feel. My husband bought me a Jane Seymore necklace, not even 3 days the chain broke. Kays wanted to charge my husband $100.00 to get it fixed. They settlled on $45.00 mean while they gave me another chain, Not even a month q diamond fell out.
Took it back now the chain turned black & another diamond fell out. They told my husband he needed to up grade. My husband said yes you should do that . No the Manager said you have to pay the differance . My husband paid a nice price for this necklace. it wasn't cheap.

I don't think We will be bying from Kays At Park Mall
