Google review: Pirelli tired

Two years ago, I signed a low mileage lease with a local kia dealer in new jersey. The vehicle, a kia telluride, had clean lines and was well appointed. My wife drives the telluride 95% of the time and is very cautious. Recently I took the vehicle to my dealer for regular scheduled service and was dismayed when the service writer that two of four tires were bald and the other two had less than 2/32" tread and would need replacement soon. With AWD I was told all four tires should be replaced at the same time due to the suspensions interconnectivity. The dealer told me the tires were not warranted, and I should contact the manufacturer, Pirelli. When I reached out to Pirelli's customer service center I was told that the tires were entirely spec'd by the manufacturer, Kia. They're designed for comfort, that is a smoother ride, and not performance. The tires, Pirelli Scorpion Zero all weather, on my vehicle were never designed to last until the end of my lease or 30,000 miles. I have 22,000 miles and the tires are overworn. Since there is no warranty, Pirelli offered me a generous (?) 15% discount on a new set of Pirelli replacements but I would have to return all four originally installed tires which by the way my dealer quoted me a price of $1700 out of pocket for new tires, mounting and balancing. This is absolutely maddening and I wonder if the tire company and Kia are intertwined and this is just one more way for auto companies to gouge the consumer. Minimally consumers SHOULD BE WARNED of the likelihood of the tires not meeting the lease end and would need additional financial outlays even if the vehicle is maintained as recommended by the manufacturer! Shame on KIA and double shame on Pirelli!
