Golden Corral Golden Corral's Discriminatory Receipt Policy: A Shocking Experience in Durham, NC

Me and my family went to Golden Corral restaurant on NC Hwy 55 in Durham, North Carolina on August 7, 2018. We were excited to try out their buffet and enjoy a nice meal together. However, our experience was ruined by the restaurant's discriminatory and racist policy of asking customers to show their receipt after purchasing their meal.

As we all know, customers pay for their meal at the cash register located in front of the restaurant. After that, the dining experience is completely self-serve. There is no opportunity for customers to steal anything or leave without paying. Despite this, a server stood over our table and watched us eat our food. When I asked why he was staring at us, he asked to see our receipt. I was shocked and handed him my receipt. I asked why he needed to see it when we had just left the cashier station 5 minutes ago. It was ridiculous to suggest that we had not paid for our food.

The worker made notations on the receipt and explained that he had to check for our drink purchases. I had water, and both my brother and mother had tea. There was no issue with our purchases, so why did he need to check? Is this particular Golden Corral location having a problem with customers not paying? If so, there needs to be a better way to handle it. The current policy is discriminatory and racist. As a paying customer, I have the right to eat in peace without being stared at by a restaurant worker because he thinks I stole my food.

There is no disclaimer or sign anywhere inside or outside the restaurant warning customers of this policy. Golden Corral implemented it in a sneaky way to avoid losing customers. If customers knew beforehand that they would be asked to show their receipt after sitting down to eat, they may think twice and go elsewhere. My family and I were not the only ones upset by this policy. We saw two other parties express their discontent and even spoke to one of the customers who planned to file a complaint.

Golden Corral needs to realize that their racist policy could lead to a backlash like what happened to Starbucks. I plan to spread the word on social media about their policy. It is no secret that a large number of African Americans live in Durham, and Golden Corral seems to be using this policy to keep us in check. This policy is associated with an abysmal history of deep-seated racism in places of public accommodations.

Golden Corral Disappointing Experience at Golden Corral: Nasty Bathroom and Gross Food Areas

I gotta say, I was pretty disappointed with my experience at Golden Corral. Let me tell you, the bathroom was straight up nasty. I mean, I've been to some pretty gross truck stops in my day, but this was on a whole other level. There was pee and poop all over the place, the sinks weren't working right, and there was toilet paper all over the floor. It was like a horror movie in there.

And don't even get me started on the food areas. It was just as bad, if not worse. There was food all over the counters and floors, and it looked like it had been there for days. I couldn't even bring myself to eat anything, I was so grossed out.

To make matters worse, the staff looked like they were about to keel over from exhaustion. I'm sure they're overworked and underpaid, but that's no excuse for letting the place get so dirty.

Overall, I definitely won't be going back to Golden Corral anytime soon. It's a shame, because I used to really enjoy going there. But after seeing the state of the bathroom and food areas, my stomach turns at the thought of returning. I'd give it a negative 100 rating if I could, but unfortunately that's not an option.

Golden Corral Disappointing Experience at Golden Corral: Poor Customer Service and Questionable Hygiene Practices

Me and my partner drove for almost an hour to get to Golden Corral. When we got there, we noticed that the cashier was itching her hair and then touching the ice scoop and soda cups. It was a bit concerning, but we decided to give it a try anyway.

When we got to the checkout, the cashier told us that they don't accept cards. My fiance is diabetic and needed to eat, so I told her that I don't carry cash. She seemed unsure of what to do and asked her manager for help. The manager told us the same thing, that they don't accept cards, and suggested that we leave the restaurant and go to an ATM.

I was really disappointed with the customer service skills of the staff. They didn't seem to care that we had driven so far and that my fiance needed to eat. It would have been nice if there was a sign on the door or if they had told us before we started eating.

Overall, I wouldn't recommend Golden Corral. The customer service was poor and the hygiene practices of the staff were questionable. I hope that my fiance doesn't have a diabetic emergency before we can find somewhere else to eat, especially since we aren't from the area.

Golden Corral Stunning Remodel, Delicious Food, but Unprofessional Manager at Golden Corral #766 in Tampa

I had the pleasure of visiting Golden Corral #766 in Tampa after it had been closed for a while, and I must say, the remodeling was absolutely stunning! The new decor gave the restaurant a fresh and modern look that was very inviting. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by the friendly staff who were all wearing masks and following safety protocols.

The food was delicious and fresh, with a wide variety of options to choose from. I particularly enjoyed the grilled chicken and the mac and cheese, which were both cooked to perfection. The salad bar was also very impressive, with a great selection of fresh vegetables and toppings.

However, my experience was slightly marred by the behavior of the supposed manager, Andrea Sanders. The restaurant was very busy, and one of the young waitresses was struggling to keep up with her tables. While I understand that working under pressure can be difficult, there is no excuse for the way that Ms. Sanders treated her employee. She was rude and disrespectful, and her behavior was completely unprofessional. It was clear that the other customers in the restaurant were also taken aback by her attitude.

I believe that it is important for managers to lead by example and to treat their employees with respect and dignity. Ms. Sanders' behavior was unacceptable, and I hope that the restaurant takes measures to address this issue. Despite this incident, I still enjoyed my meal at Golden Corral and would recommend it to others. The food was excellent, and the staff (with the exception of Ms. Sanders) were all very friendly and attentive. Overall, it was a great dining experience.

Golden Corral Disappointing Experience at Golden Corral: Filthy and Terrible Food

I went to Golden Corral the other day and boy was it an experience! As soon as I walked in, I heard a man yelling at the workers because there wasn't any white meat or anything fresh. I was taken aback and thought about leaving right then and there. But I decided to give it a chance and boy was that a mistake. The food was terrible and the place was filthy! I paid for 6 adults to have a "premium" dinner, but it was anything but premium. I was so disappointed!

I couldn't help but wonder, when did these places go downhill? Why do we still support places like this? The only good thing there was the little piece of steak I had, and my family of course. But other than that, it was a complete disaster. I will never go back to Golden Corral again!

I should have known better. Taco Bell was right next door and even though I'm not a fan of Taco Bell, it was looking really good compared to Golden Corral. So my advice to you is don't waste your money!

I also feel really sorry for the workers. I'm happy they have a job, but I feel bad that they have to listen to customers complain all day. It's not their fault that the food is terrible and the place is filthy.

Overall, I would not recommend Golden Corral to anyone. It was a terrible experience and I regret going there.

Golden Corral Disappointing Service at Golden Corral: Lack of Attention and Response from Staff

I went to Golden Corral today to have my meal and drink my soda. After about 30 minutes, no waters showed up in our area. I saw two floor supervisors and approached them to tell them that we've had no waitress in our area for the past 30 minutes. They gave no response. So, I went to the cashier and asked for a supervisor, and a lady there said she was. I told her my situation, but she was just as indifferent as the two I had approached on the floor.

The time I spent at Golden Corral was not a good experience. I've always been a generous tipper, but the last two times I left no tip. I will not be back. As a veteran, I see about 500 veterans over a year, and there's always instant communication between veterans. I won't be promoting Golden Corral.

I was disappointed with the service at Golden Corral. It's important to have good service when you're dining out, and unfortunately, that was not the case. The lack of response from the floor supervisors and the cashier supervisor was concerning. It's important to have attentive staff who can address customer concerns.

I hope that Golden Corral can improve their service in the future. As a veteran, I appreciate good service and attention to detail. I won't be recommending Golden Corral to my fellow veterans or anyone else. It's important to have a positive dining experience, and unfortunately, that was not the case at Golden Corral.

Golden Corral Disappointing Experience at Golden Corral: Insulting Senior Discount and Inappropriate Breastfeeding

So, I went to Golden Corral the other day and let me tell you, it was not a good experience. First off, the cashier asked me if I wanted the senior discount not once, not twice, but three times! I mean, come on, I may be in my 50s but I'm not that old. It would have been nice if they had a sign or something saying who is eligible for the discount so I wouldn't have to feel insulted like that.

But that wasn't even the worst part. I saw a woman breastfeeding her baby with her breast completely exposed! No blanket or anything to cover up. I'm not against breastfeeding, but I don't want to see nudity while I'm trying to eat my food. And there were other men and children around too, it's just not appropriate for a public restaurant. I wish someone had said something to her or that the restaurant had a policy about it.

All in all, it was a pretty depressing experience. You never know what someone is going through and the cashier's repeated comments and the exposed breastfeeding just made it worse. And to top it all off, the food wasn't even that good. It's definitely not what it used to be. I wouldn't give them any stars if I could.

Golden Corral Disappointing Service at Golden Corral: A Review of Maple Grove, MN Store #2677

So, I went to Golden Corral and I was really looking forward to trying their fresh banana pudding. I asked one of the servers about it and they were really nice and said they would find out for me. After a little while, they came back and said it would be out soon. I was patient and waited, but a few more people joined me in waiting for the pudding.

After about 5 minutes, one of the other guests asked the server who was putting out the desserts if there was any more banana pudding. But, the server snapped at the guest and didn't seem very happy about being asked. Then, she put out all the other desserts except for the banana pudding. We all stood there and watched for over 10 minutes as she made sure to put the pudding out last.

I was really disappointed by this experience, especially since I work in the service industry myself. I spoke to the manager in charge, but he didn't seem too worried about what had happened. This all took place at the Maple Grove, MN store (I think the store number is 2677). Honestly, I don't think I'll be going back there again. It was just really frustrating and not a great experience.

Golden Corral Golden Corral Review: Poor Quality Food, Bad Service, and Unsanitary Conditions

I recently visited Golden Corral and I have to say, it was not a good experience. I've written reviews before, but on October 21st, 2015, I was told to stay away from the place. The manager threatened me with slander if I wrote any more negative reviews. But I couldn't help myself, the food was just so bad. It was cold and the quality was poor. The staff wasn't very helpful either. Half the time, they were nowhere to be found and when they were around, they didn't seem interested in helping customers.

The restaurant was also in bad shape. The stack of dishes was piled up for weeks and the bathroom was always dirty. Some of the managers were okay, but others were just plain rude. They barked orders at the staff and didn't seem to care about the customers. The new GM wasn't much better than the old one. There was a hole in the rug for four months and the tiles in the ceiling were not fixed for months. There was even black mold that was just painted over with white paint. And to top it off, there were bugs in the store and black flies all over the place.

The only good thing about Golden Corral was the pies, cokes, cakes, and ice. But even then, it wasn't worth the trouble. The food was often out on the salad bar and it was hot and bare. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant. It's just not worth the money or the hassle.

Golden Corral Disappointing Experience at Golden Corral: Limited Food Selection and Poor Buffet Maintenance

I recently visited Golden Corral after a long hiatus of 15 years. My last visit was at the Whitehall Pa location, and I was curious to see if anything had changed. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with my experience this time around.

Firstly, the price for dinner was quite steep at $16.99, and an additional $3.99 for a beverage. I felt that this was overpriced, especially considering the limited selection of food available. There were only four types of chicken, brats, one type of fish, meatloaf, and ham. The side dishes were also quite limited, with only seven options available. The salad bar was decent, but the dessert selection was a disaster. There were only four different types of desserts available, and the cake was all smashed up.

To make matters worse, the buffet bar was not well-maintained, with food drippings all over it. The dessert bar was even worse, with a lack of cleanliness and organization. However, I must say that the dining area was clean and well-kept.

In conclusion, I was not impressed with my recent visit to Golden Corral. I would advise anyone planning to visit a buffet to inspect the food selection and cleanliness of the buffet before deciding to pay and eat there.

Golden Corral Disappointing Roast Beef at Golden Corral: A Regular Customer's Feedback

I've been a regular at Golden Corral for quite some time now, and I have to say that the roast beef is one of my favorite dishes. However, I've noticed that the meat is always cooked to well done, which is a bit disappointing. I usually visit this restaurant three times a week with my family, and for the last eight times, the roast beef has been cooked to medium well before it's even served on the buffet line.

I spoke with Jeff, one of the managers, about this issue, and he advised me to write about it on the website. I spend around $1000 a month at this restaurant, and it's frustrating to see that they don't seem to care about their customers' opinions. The protocol for cooking the roast beef is supposed to be medium rare before it's put on the line, and it cooks more under the lamps. However, this Golden Corral seems to be cooking the meat well done on purpose, which is a shame.

I understand that the more people they seat, the more money they make, but if the meat is overcooked, no one wants to eat it. It's a sorry way to do business, Golden Corral. I've mentioned this issue every time I've visited this month, which is eight times, but there hasn't been any change. The meat is grey in color and severely overcooked, which is not how it's supposed to be.

I hope that Golden Corral takes this feedback seriously and fixes the issue with their roast beef. It's a shame to see such a great restaurant not living up to its potential because of a simple issue like this. I'll continue to visit this restaurant, but I hope to see some changes soon.

Golden Corral York

My husband and I go every Friday for the last 8 months it is always been good but the last couple of times we went the food was terrible states were burnt no food on the counters dessert bar I had pot roast that smelled and tasted like well dog poop was terrible and I've been going there for so long and the last couple times we went it was terrible we paid $40 every time we come on Friday that's her date night and this was the worst I didn't even need dinner because I was so grossed out about how bad the pot roast tasted it's really gone downhill I don't understand but for health reasons I wouldn't even want to eat there again because I'm afraid that I'm going to get sick cuz it's not sanitary and I did try to talk to a manager but he didn't have a name tag on and he looked at me like I was crazy and walked away and he didn't even seem like he cared it all that their customers are eating bad food and he smelled it looked at me and knew exactly what I was saying but did not make a comment I just want the food to get better because I really enjoy going there

Desired outcome: Would like to improve having food on the bar and food that is cooked properly

Golden Corral Manager Jame Sawyer Spring Hill Florida location

My wife try to talk to the manager about her experience with a server and he refused to listen. My wife call Him again and he answer with a nasty tone of voice and turn his back at her and kept working. My biggest concern is that my wife noticed that the employees around him act like they are afraid of him. As a retired chef, that is a very bad situation. Especially when you are working with all type of people with different back ground. Someone loose their temper, anything can happen. He need to learn how to deal with all kind of situation in a pleasant way. I know that working in these type environment can be stressful, but as a manager he should be the example.

I hope action is taken on this matter.

Golden Corral Clam chowder. Fried chicken lot of other cold food. It's not always bad but it's a lot

Cold food. Clam chowder always out. Nothing done. It's a constant thing. I'm done. The soup is either cold or out. Fried chicken always out. For months. Not days one time I ask for my money back. The manager was very nice and said it was on her. While I was going through the line another manager approached me and said if I didn't pay I didn't eat. I eat at the early bird senior special. They run out of clam chowder almost every day and it's cold most days. Recently a manager told me I was the only one that complained. Later one of the workers said that was not true. As you can tell by your complaints is far from true. Hire me as a shopper. I've done it for showneys. You need something. These people have the same problems over and over.

Desired outcome: Situation fixed and something done. It's the same thing everyday. Basically I usually find something but something's happen everyday. Some people aren't doing their job.

Golden Corral Gift card could not be used due to your nationwide system being down

June 03, 2023 6:10 p.m. Lake Placid, FL GC Steak House

We had a meal, the waitress brought the tab. We gave her a $50 gift card to cover the meal.. She came back to tell us there was money on the card, but the access to the line that takes the cards was not available, but to keep the card and use it another time when the system was working. This is the second time at this establishment that this has happened. The first time was about 5 weeks ago.

We purchased 4 of these cards at Sam's Club in Port Charlotte, FL.

I hope we can get this resolved SOON! If it is not resolved very soon, we will never patronize another GC ever and will spread the word your gift cards are worthless.

Desired outcome: we want our money back as the cards are useless unless you get your system corrected SOON!

Golden Corral Customer Service

My family and I have been customers since the Old Country Buffet closed in Bensalem, PA. We supported the restaurant during the recent pandemic, continuing our weekly Friday visits. On June 2, 2023, we arrived at the Street Road restaurant in Bensalem, paid our bill and waited to be seated. My family consists of 3 adults (2 seniors, 1 adult). My mother is confined to a wheelchair. Due to the size of the wheelchair, we favor sitting at a larger table. A table for 4 is too small. The restaurant was maybe 45% full. The hostess (a young black woman) sat us at a table for 4. The table we usually sit at was not occupied and we requested it. She said "NO, SIT HERE!" I told her that it was too small and would not comfortably accommodate the wheelchair. She ignored me. I told her I would have to leave. She said "GO". I handed her my receipt and asked her to start the refund, until I was able to turn my Mom's wheelchair around and get to the register. She then started screaming at me and belittling me in front of all the other customers and refused to help me. I was in the last dining room. It became so bad that one of the wait staff that we know from Old Country Buffet helped me by taking the receipt to the front. She continued screaming at us, through the restaurant, from the last dining room to the register. It didn't stop there. She continued retelling the story to a young man who has also been assigned as host. I requested to see the manger. He refunded the money, but said nothing to comment on her actions. She has ended our weekly relationship with your restaurant. I am considering filing a complaint with the Bensalem police for elder abuse.

Desired outcome: I would like an apology and complimentary dinner for 3.

Golden Corral I fell at the Golden Corral, was hospitalized for a week, and still have pain. Will GC pay my hospital bill, or do I need to get an attorney?

Me and my family were at the Golden Corral for dinner on Christmas Day 2022. I got up to get some napkins, and there was a wrinkle in the carpet, and I fell and broke my hip. I was hospitalized for a week. I still have pain from the fall. I would appreciate it if golden Corral would pay my hospital bill, and doctor bills, and pay me for my paid and suffering.

Desired outcome: I would like to have my hospital and doctor visits paid, and pay for my pain and suffering.

Golden Corral your waitress refused to wait my table of 6 due to we are all white people

i had family from out of town and i took them out to eat when we arrived i paid over 100 dollars so we went to sit down we found a table that sit 6 but it was nasty there was a waitress next table over so i ask her could she wipe off the table she ignored me so my wife went up front a got a rag and wiped off our table we ask the waitress for our drinks and some silverware and she agnored me again so i went and got the maneger he went and got the waitress and brought her over to the table to interduce her while the manager was interducin her she turns around and walks away while he is still talking the manager had to get our drinks and straws she tells the group 1 table over that she refuses to serves white people we got so upset we left and i dont think ill go back it was a waste of money now this was 3/18/23 after 5pm

Desired outcome: make things right cause this should have never happened in any way

Golden Corral Errors in rewards service and recent denial of a gift card use blaming connection to GC heasdquarters GC headquarters

Friday Feb 24 I went to use a gift card and was told that the register could not make contact with GC for acceptance. Then my receipt for that day was not recognized. Entering it again it said must wait two to acknowledge. But it has never done so. I wrote three emails to resolve this and never received a response. Calling GC does not allow me to speak with anyone.

Golden Corral Restaurant and bathroom were FILTHY. The buffet was a mess, lots of trays were empty. service was horrible

We visited your restaurant on sat. march 4th for dinner. we have been going to golden corral for years and was always satisfied. this visit was horrible. the restaurant was filthy, the buffet was a mess with food all around trays. lots of trays were not being refilled. The salad dressing looked so old as it was not stirred in hours. I witnessed many workers on their phones hanging around not doing a thing. I could not even use the bathroom as is smelled so bad and was so dirty. I actually didnt wind up eating my dinner due to the conditions of the restaurant. I would love to try you guys again at another location and give golden corral another chance.
