I am writing to formally request immediate documentation regarding the mishandling of my IRS refund check, which I deposited into my account on 3/21/2025 at the Branch inside the Walmart on Dallas Parkway in Plano Texas, I was notified that a hold was placed on the deposit, after multiple calls back and forth to the bank, (who insisted I need to call the IRS) and IRS I was finally told last week by a supposed District Manager that the funds were allegedly returned to the IRS via cashier’s check at the direction of IRS personnel and that cashier’s check (Number 2894886) had been cashed on 5/2. However, after direct contact with the IRS again, I have received confirmation that:
*After letting the branch manager know once again that the IRS confirmed none of this to be true, I have yet to receive a call back.
• No request was made to return my refund check
• The IRS does not contact banks by email or phone to request refund returns
• There is no case or account activity indicating fraud, identity theft, or RIVO status
• They have not received the funds returned by First National Bank
• The Mailstop number that the District Manager gave me is not a Valid IRS tax Office Mailstop number
• The phone number he gave me goes straight to a personal Voicemail
• Cashier’s Check is a huge REDFLAG
Given these facts, I demand the following information be provided in writing immediately:
1. A copy (front and back) of the cashier’s check that was issued from my deposit and information regarding where and by whom it was cashed.
2. A copy of any email, document, or directive allegedly from the IRS that was used to justify the return of my funds.
3. The mailing address used to send the check, and the rationale behind choosing that address, especially since it does not match any IRS mailstop or refund processing location.
4. The names of any bank employees involved in making the decision to return the funds.
5. The case numbers referenced by your staff, and who provided them.
6. A clear explanation of why I was not notified in writing or given an opportunity to respond prior to the removal of my funds, instead I was told it was confidential and they didn’t have to notify me
7. A full breakdown of your bank’s internal justification for the reversal of my deposit, especially given that it was a valid, government-issued refund.
This situation has created significant confusion and financial disruption. I have a right to a full explanation and correction of this matter. If I do not receive an adequate written response with all requested documentation within 7 business days, I will be filing formal complaints with:
• The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB)
• The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC)
• The Federal Reserve Consumer Help
• Law Enforcement
• And will seek legal remedies for the unauthorized withdrawal and mishandling of my federal tax refund.
Please consider this a formal complaint and demand for resolution.
