When assumed in 2025 Fifth Third Bank made it difficult to pay the mortgage, only permitting the use of their checking account which resulted in multiple errors. This process was updated at the beginning of April 2026 to allow automatic payment from other accounts without submission of a mailed letter. They required that all automatic payments were setup again. We adhered to this and setup payments to begin biweekly, beginning 4/17/2026. The 4/17 and 5/1 payments both went through, but without warning or notice, Fifth Third Bank stopped the payment that was supposed to occur on 5/18, charged a $87.08 late fee, and sent our account to collections. They have corrected those issues after filing a complaint with the cfpb, and last checked, the next payment was scheduled to be made on July 15th; however, when I logged on this morning, the automatic payment has been cancelled, and I have not been provided notice of this cancellation. I reached out to a representative of the bank who noted that they did not see any autopay setup, and no reason for cancellation.
