The product purchased by me is for my flat in the building and therefore had to be installed at the rooftop near the flat’s water tank. Some of the points highlighted here must be taken into consideration before anyone purchasing the item:

1. The system consists of 2 cylinders, one tank and other accessories. So, it is huge and requires lot of space.
2. The system requires an electric connection very near to the system which should be kept on 24 hours.
3. After attaching the system, water pressure goes down drastically and hence may require an additional expenditure for a pressure pump.
4. Softener goes through a cleaning process in every cycle of about 1000 liters of water usage and throws out about 15 liters of wastewater. During the process there will be no water in the tap.
5. System reduces only hardening of water. Sand, dust etc remains.
6. Due to reaction with soap or detergent, the water becomes slippery whenever it is used for utensil cleaning or washing clothes etc.

Following points of concern may be noted before purchase:

1. Due to huge size and to be installed at rooftop, the availability of space is a constraint.
2. Power connection at the rooftop may not be available and hence an extra expenditure.
3. To keep the power on, for all the time and that too in open, is a highly risky proposition.
4. The water wastage is very high and that too in the present circumstances when we do everything possible to save water.
5. We can imagine facing an awkward situation when tap water goes off taking bath.
6. In case of water being used for utensil cleaning, we always prefer to see no slipperiness or oiliness in the utensils. But in this case, it will be definitely happening and there is no choice.
7. The system costs around 50000/= and in case of requirement of a pressure pump an additional cost of about 10000/= is to be incurred.
8. For removing sand dust etc before it enters the system an additional sedimentary filter will be required and that too of around 20 microns so that the water pressure is not affected.
9. The product warranty is for 12 months and thereafter, what will be expenditure we can never anticipate.

All the points highlighted above will never be shared by the company or its salesperson. None of the above points of concern were shared with me before purchase and, also, no brochure or any other document were provided informing these concerns. Especially, the wastage of water and the electric connection running all the time in open and in rainy season.

WHAT IS THE REMEDY NOW FOR ME?

Recommendation: Hence, I feel, these concerns make the product highly “NOT TO BE RECOMMENDED” category.
