Dear Travel Bank,

I been trying to contact travel bank, sending emails EVERYDAY, calling the customer services every week 3-4 times in a week but there is no progress on my below request. Tell me why you cannot return back my money, for two year

i let this money saved on this travel bank account its not my fault for the covid and it is also not my fault you cancel our flight by faith when you cancel my flight and put this money on travel bank we dont have an action but to agree but

right now my travel bank will expire on April and you are only giving me an option to book either I spend more where i dont have given my below situation or you want me to loss the money and gain for the travel bank; How very Bad this to me as a customer.

I pay that ticket before with cash and no hassle given to Etihad when you cancel the flight and i agree to put this on travel bank but it is really not LAWFUL for me that the travel bank just want me to loss either way loss my travel bank because it will expire or spent money more so that i can save the travel bank. How stupud this advise that in order for me to not loss i should book. As explain the cost of the money that I have in travel bank AED 3900 so you want me to book the ticket for cost of the ticket per head is AE 2700 x3 = AED 8100 because that would be for me my husband and my 3 years son how can i get the money for that as explain below. and If i will book for one ticket only AED2700 so you mean you want me to loss the remaining AE 1200 on my travel bank either way I loss and this is not FAIR and i will realyy make actions and violent action either i call and speak to the head or voice out my BAD experience to this Travel Bank. because you are doing to UN JUSTICE to me, your only option is to book how can i BOOK on this situation. i will demand for this to refund or extend my travel bank I will really not accept this option to book.

Please be informed that i had a call from the agent of Etihad her name os Tricia she was more accommodating and a truly customer friendly. My case number is Case No. REF-53010

i explain to her the details of the situation and the below reason.

I would really appreciate if you could give me response and approve my request below is my case number.

Have a heart and read my situation carefully as a customer if you value our care.

The cost of the ticket per head is more or less AED 5,000 the cost of our Travel Bank is only AED 3900 I have my husband and son with me how can you expect us to book this expensive ticket. How can you expect us to fly by myself or my husband or do you want me to travel my son alone.

As I'm currently explaining on the below with regards to my situation, my family cannot fly due to money situation. and I will not book a ticket that more expensive on my travel bank .

I would kindly request to please accept my request and i dont want my travel bank to expire due to this reason. I been trying to resolve this issue since last year.

I need to talk to your superior if possible, maybe they have the humanity to understand my situation.

My family personally suffer the hard life due to this Corona virus a lot of my friends and relative experienced the covid agonize.

Currently the salary of my husband is delayed for 4 months with a low income. Basically I’m the only one supporting my own family.

And I am a breadwinner in the Philippines where my mother has hypertension and my brother just experienced a stroke a few months ago whom I’m supporting for the maintenance of medicine.

My son will turn 4 this coming month and we need Renew the visa soon. All in all I’m facing a money problem. How will I support my family, my son's visa and my family in the Philippines.

It's really hard to be alone in this situation, sometimes I want to just go home and stay there but we need to move forward and do everything to survive and give your family the best you can give.

Given the situation right now I cannot use the above ticket for the reason first money I badly need the money right now for my family and second I cannot fly and risk the health of my son.

Desired outcome: Refund my travel bank amount on my original mode of payment

Unresolved Refund Issue with Etihad Amidst the Pandemic

During the peak of the pandemic, my scheduled flight to Munich via Etihad was canceled. At the time, I reached out to Etihad hoping to get a refund for my ticket. However, they declined the refund request, proposing instead to deposit the money into a travel bank. While I was initially hesitant, I agreed, placing trust in Etihad, especially as a loyal Gold member.

No one could have truly anticipated the extent and duration of the pandemic, nor the numerous travel restrictions that would especially affect unvaccinated travelers. Over the last 2.5 years, I've made numerous attempts to amicably resolve this issue with Etihad, but unfortunately, all have been unsuccessful.

Today, I took my case to the NCAT in Sydney for resolution. If you've encountered a similar experience or are dealing with unresolved Etihad ticket refunds, I'd appreciate connecting. It's essential for airlines, including Etihad, to be accountable for services they didn't provide, especially when customers request timely refunds.

Hello to all...

Sorry I forgot to update my situation. I GOT MY MONEY BACK ! My lawyer sent a letter to the airlines to refund my money in full amount + the lawyer expenses nearly 900 Euro. The airlines ignored my lawyer 6 months long. Then my lawyer gave them the deadline 23 August 2022 to refund my money. Otherwise the case will be taken to Frankfurt Court. I think the airlines must receive a notice from the Court. December 2022 I received the refund and I paid nothing for the lawyer - Etihad paid :-).

By the way, Turkish airlines also cancelled my flight during COVID. I came back to Germany - 2 weeks later I get the refund without problem. Flying with Etihad - NO MORE !

I am having this exact same issue with Etihad. I purchased travel bank credit in 2020, and I have been trying to redeem my travel bank credit to make a booking- they make it impossible to redeem your travel bank credit (you get an error on their website when you try to use it either saying to login -even when you are logged in, or just saying it cannot be processed-see screenshots) and when you call to book they send you to multiple departments and then don’t respond until it runs out. It is an absolute scam, I have been asked to contact them privately on social media channels and then when I do they still do not resolve the issue.

I tried to book weeks ago before my credit ran out and they delayed and delayed on responding and when I eventually got through to someone they said my travel bank credit was less than it was when I had initially tried to book, this is also not a couple of hundred this is thousands of dollars that they have just taken from me!

Etihad does not even honour their published terms about the use of travel bank. I have been trying to book an accomodation using the money I have in my travel bank account. They refused to do this despite it is my right as per their published information (screen shot attached)… They told me they will update their website! How can we rely on any of their published terms if they -themselves- do not respect it!

We had the same problem with nearly 6000 Euro. We tried to book the flights one week before our credit on travel bank expired. After finished booking the flights, we gave the travel bank code to pay for the tickets. The system said "this account does not exist !" So what ? We had been trying several times to book and pay but the results were the same - No Account !. We contacted Etihad Airlines, the client said the travel bank will contact us back in 3 days but nothing happens. We did it 3 times and every time they said that the travel bank will contact us back in 3 days. We were waiting for over a month but we still have not heard anything from the travel bank nor from the airlines. So we lead the fall to our German Lawyer. Let's see what happens next.

Yes I have tried every way to contact them and finally they responded saying they cannot extend the credits. They have deceived people and taken advantage of loyal customers knowing that there has been a pandemic and most people have been unable to fly in the past 2 years. The only fair thing to do was to extend a few more months so allow people to use the credits. But they will not!

Same situation with many people it seems. The greedy and ruthless Etihad took our money into Travelbank and they will not extend the expiry date, even though the Covid pandemic has lasted more than 2 years. It is an absolute disgrace they are allowed to get away with stealing peoples money like this. All they need to do is to extend one more year due to the Covid situation. They have left their customers stuck with no options in most cases. Disgraceful!

Not only that they won’t extend the credit, even when you try to book within the timeframe they make it impossible to book. They have taken loyal customers money and will not let them spend it, absolute fraud and a disgrace
