I am writing to submit a formal complaint regarding a serious error made by your call centre staff and the subsequent handling of my refund request.
On 15 June 2026, I contacted Etihad Airways through your call centre to book a round-trip ticket from Doha to Kuala Lumpur and back. During the call, your agent clearly informed me that the quoted fare of QAR 6,772 was for the complete round-trip journey. Based on this information, I proceeded with payment through the payment link sent to my email.
After receiving the ticket, I discovered that the booking was for a one-way journey only. Upon contacting Etihad Airways again, the agent acknowledged that he had made an error, apologized, and immediately processed a refund request. I subsequently received the refund confirmation by email.
I was then transferred to a supervisor named Mohammed, who advised that the refund would be completed within a maximum of seven working days. During the following days, I contacted your team several times and was repeatedly instructed to wait. Yesterday marked the seventh working day, yet no refund had been received. My bank has confirmed that no refund transaction has been received or is pending on their side.
Today is the eleven day since the refund was processed, and I continue to receive conflicting information regarding when I should expect my funds. This situation has caused significant inconvenience and financial hardship. The amount involved is substantial, and the delay has directly affected my ability to make alternative travel arrangements for my upcoming trip scheduled on 1 July 2026.
I therefore request:
1.Immediate investigation into the original ticketing error.
2.Immediate confirmation of the exact status of my refund and the date on which the funds will be returned.
3.Written clarification regarding the contradictory information provided by your staff.
4.Appropriate compensation for the inconvenience, financial impact, loss of time, and distress caused by this matter.
I expect a prompt response and resolution. Should this matter remain unresolved, I reserve the right to escalate my complaint to the relevant aviation consumer protection and regulatory authorities.
