I was charged for excess baggage - our combined baggage at Sydney airport was 35kgs - charge $1,933.00 and at Rome - excess baggage was 18kgs - EUR 687. This should have been included in our economy ticket fare which was $4,658 from Sydney to Catania which was purchased through Flight Network. At the airport we were advised to seek a refund, please assist.

Upon reviewing the fare conditions, we would like to clarify that if your booking was made under the Economy Basic fare, checked baggage is not included in the ticket. Any checked baggage brought to the airport would therefore be subject to applicable excess or additional baggage fees. We understand this may be disappointing, and we kindly recommend reviewing the baggage allowance associated with your selected fare when making future bookings to avoid unexpected charges. Aditionaly, you can add extra baggage online and save up to 65%. Book up to 30 hours before departure for piece-based bookings, or up to 4 hours before your flight for weight-based baggage.
